MR. Aqua Plastic Check Valve

MR. Aqua Plastic Check ValveI've had these blue check valves for air pumps on a 46g and a 24g Nano for 6 months. these check valves DO have an arrow for easy setup. I haven't had any backflows after 6 months. The product works as advertised, and they are the best looking check valves available IMO. They especially look sharp on my aquarium with the black tubing.

The air valve that you receive does not have an arrow on it, therefore, you have no idea which way to place it on your tubing. Also, all packaging and writing is in Japanese. Not helpful, and not a good product.

Buy MR. Aqua Plastic Check Valve Now

It's well made but nothing to write home about, especially at the high price. Also, it is clear (transparent), not blue as pictured. (I think that's the picture for the Hagen Elite brand)... Anyway, I'd recommend you find a "Elite"-brand check valve and NO other. They are the most durable, long-lasting, and well made. And affordable.

I gave it 5 stars because I'm reviewing the product not the price.

wanted a check valve on my co2 system. Have one in place but you can be to safe. For the price I like that I can change it out every year or so as plastic is not recommended for Co2.

Got this for an overflow I made, but it did not last and let air through--thereby breaking the seal in my overflow pipe. Ended up buying one in store from petco.

Hydor USA SlimSkim Internal Skimmer for Mini Aquariums and Mini Reefs

Hydor Slim Skim Nano Internal Skimmer for Mini Aquariums and Reefs 23-35 galWell I got this product and the first thing I noticed was this thing was big 4 inches doesn't sound like alot till it's in your tank and wow is it big, I have it in

After my red sea max 130 skimmer broke. I decided to choose this skimmer to take its place. This is the best skimmer I have ever purchased. It works perfectly and starting skimming waste within the first ten minutes. Easy to install and easy to ajust settings...

Bought this for my Innovative Marine Nuvo 38 gallon. I originally had the Innovative Marine skimmer for a few months. It had micro bubbles for the first month and then after every water change for a few days. It was very loud too, I could hear it clearly with the tv on. So I purchased the Hydor Slim Nano since I was so sick of noise and micro bubbles. It fits in the same column in the back of the tank.

I put the Hydor in and plugged it in and it is VERY quiet and it has ZERO micro bubbles! It was producing skim mate within the first 15 minutes! The collection cup is very easy to take off and clean too. It is awesome and I am very impressed. Much better then the Innovative marine skimmer.

Not bad for a Cyber Monday discounted purchase. If not set just right, it does have a loud hum to it. But, once I got it all sitting just right, it is quiet.

Zilla Light Incandescent Bulb

Zilla 09918 Day Blue Light Incandescent Bulb, 100-WattThey do provide heat but burn out very fast. First bulb 6 hours second bulb 24 hours.Have not tried third bulb.

I use this particular brand bulb for my evening lighting in several vivariums, and have used them for 18 months now. Recently I had a few go out, and it wasn't viable for me to hit the local pet store, so I grabbed them via Amazon Prime.

PROS:

* Great bulb for all day heat, or evening heat

* Excellent gentle "moonlighting"

* Quality, lasts a very long time

CONS:

* Ordered a couple, had one go out within seconds for no apparent reason (I'll bet it got knocked around in the mail). Might just pay off to order extras, you should have some on hand anyhow

OTHER:

* Amazon customer service is OUTSTANDING, they had a replacement bulb shipped to me the next day

* When installing these I feel it's best to leave no fingerprints or other body oils on the bulb, once it's screwed in. So use a soft cloth to tighten it, or once it's screwed in, wipe it clean

VIVARIUM HEATING INFO:

* Remember, proper heating for your pet (air and floor temperature) can mean the difference between not just happiness and stress, but proper digestion and life in general

* For many reptiles, floor temperature is most important, followed by air temperature. You'll need to measure floor temps to make sure it's within the proper range for your pet.

* One of these bulbs sitting on top of a 20L vivarium will heat the surface of a rock, which is 6" below the bulb, to about 98*. The floor temperature will be a little less. Use under-tank heaters for best results, such as Zoo Med ReptiTherm® Under Tank Heater, Medium

* Higher wattage means more output, it also means the closer an object or pet is to the bulb, the hotter it will be for them. Keep that in mind.

* Make sure your bulb is sized properly for your lighting enclosure, not only physically, but for the wattage as well. You don't want to put a 150watt bulb in a 100watt socket.

It provides warmth, which is its main function, but I gave only 4 stars because calling it "Black Heat" is a bit misleading. The bulb looks black when it's off, but it gives a purple light when on. At full intensity, it can interfere with sleep. If you need true darkness, get a ceramic heat lamp.

I purchased two of these lightbulbs, and wish I hadn't, as the first one exploded (for no apparent reason) about 3 days after putting it to use as a chick brooder warmer. Thankfully I was close by and heard the sound, as glass shards were all over the brooder. I found a bit of blood, but haven't found an injury among the chicks. I had it screwed into an appropriate holder, it wasn't being touched by anything, and had plenty of circulating air around it I have no idea why it broke so explosively. DO NOT BUY IF YOU VALUE YOUR ANIMALS. I have the second bulb in use currently, with strong, fine wire mesh completely enclosing it just in case, and a second heat lamp different brand bulb just in case this one breaks also. As soon as I can buy a different bulb this one is going into the garbage.

It was the right light for the job, until it burned out. It burned out within 3 weeks of purchasing. I was pretty upset because my turtles had spent a long time waiting for it to ship when our last one unexpectedly burned out. I usually love the rzilla products but for some reason this one was a dud.

A PocketExpert Guide to Marine Fishes: 500+ Essential-To-Know Aquarium Species Paperback

A PocketExpert Guide to Marine Fishes: 500+ Essential-To-Know Aquarium SpeciesInterested in setting up a Fish Only Marine aquarium? Concerned about fish that will be compatible with the invertebrates in your Reef aquarium? Want to expand your knowledge beyond the 10 basic marine fish that your local aquarium store has in stock? Then this is a good book to consider. Loaded with full color pictures (on glossy paper)of marine fish, the book gives a concise summary of hundreds of these salt water inhabitants. The book itself is easier to handle than the smaller dimension Baensch Atlas and the print is larger. And the price is good value for your aquarium dollar. Bring this book with you to the aquarium store, and when you see that incredibly beautiful marine fish that you have never seen before, a quick read in this book will give you some of the information you will need to make an informed decision as to whether this fish will fare well in your aquarium at home.

I love this book. So far it contained all the fishes that I have seen at my local fish store and the best feature of the book is that it rates each fish from 1 to 5 where 5 indicates that it is an easy fish to keep alive in the aquarium, and 1 means it is hard to keep alive in an aquarium... This is great for me because I don't have the best track record with keep my fish alive and want to only buy fish which are easy to keep. The notes about each fish are really good to. It is like having 20 aquarium guru's giving you their experiences with each fish. Also, if you have a reef setup, it tells you if each fish is reef safe.

The two "500+ Essential-to-Know Aquarium Species Books" are the biggest bang-for-your-buck aquarium stocking and general information books out there. Even though both of the books, Marine Fishes (ISBN: 1890087386 by Scott W. Michael) & Marine Invertebrates (ISBN: 1890087661 by Ronald Shimek) are pocket guides, they offer so much more information than the other books that I have seen. They don't waste space telling you about fish that you will never see in an aquarium and instead give relatively in-depth information on the species that you are likely to encounter. Neither do they present the information in hard-to-decode picture format; they use sentences: A very underused communicated technique in most aquarium handbooks out there. Not only is the selection of species perfect but the provided information on care is perfect as well. The Marine Fishes version provides the following well-presented information on each fish:

* A color picture

* Scientific name (genus & species)

* Common name

* Maximum size

* Minimum suggested aquarium size

* Aquarium suitability index

* Reef aquarium compatibility

* Captive care tips and information

Likewise, in an equally well-presented manner, A PocketExpert Guide to Marine Invertebrates: 500+ Essential-to-Know Aquarium Species presents the following information on each specimen discussed:

500+ Marine Invertebrates by Robert Shimek

* A color picture

* Scientific name (genus & species)

* Common name

* Maximum size

* Naturally-occurring range

* Lighting requirements

* Foods & feeding

* Aquarium suitability/Reef aquarium compatibility

* Captive care tips and information

Don't take my word for it, just try it with a few species that you already have in your tank or that you are considering buying by using Amazon.com's "Search inside the book feature." I recommend you buy these on Amazon.com; you get free shipping (with a $25 order) and don't have to pay sales tax.

This is a great book, and I am glad I bought it! It has almost anything an aquarist should know and use in the aquarium habit; it shows lots of fish whom are familiar to the common aquarist. It is a true encyclopedia. It surely worth the money you will spend. Don't miss itbuy it! This book, more than everything, is very useful.

It covers more than 500 species, every species has a picture, and it includes: the aquarium size it should have, the foods it needs, and who are the species it will live with in peace and more.

As long as you keep in mind that the book is under the PocketExpert Guide series then you will know what you are getting. The book does have over 500 + popular marine species but doesnt give more than very general information about each species. There are also some listings with no other information than it's photo, scientific name and its tank suitablity rank. In conclusion, its a good general book but I'll probably look for another fish book.

Marineland LED Aquarium Light

Marineland LED Aquarium LightIve bought these units twice now and they both have shorted out within a couple months. Works great then they short out in a short period of time ,the seal isnt tight and moisture must get into it to short out the leds. Disappointed.

After already once replacing some cheap starters and bulbs in my standard top over a 55 gal. tank, I got fed up and did a search for an alternative that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. I spotted these LED units, reasonably priced. I bought 2 of them, and positioned them in place of the 18" fluorescent fixtures. They are very low profile, so they don't hide the filters, air and misc. on the back of the tank as well, but other than that, they sit very nicely on top of the tank, provide adequate (LED) lighting, and have a 'moonlight' setting which looks great at night. I'm pleased and would recommend these. Note, I have these over a freshwater tank, so I'm not supporting saltwater marine life. However, I do have some plants gathered from some local lakes that seem to be thriving under these lights.

Green Plastic Ceratophyllum Plants Fish Tank Aquarium Ornament 2 Pcs

Green Plastic Ceratophyllum Plants Fish Tank Aquarium Ornament 2 PcsAfter 10 months I thought I would write an update to my review on this item. These plants are not as "full" as you might think from the picture, but they are still a lovely addition to my aquarium. I was looking for plants that had some realism, and these fit the bill. These are too tall for a 10 gallon aquarium, but they fit well in my 20 or 30 gallon tanks. These are the best aquarium plants I own for one reason... they protect my live fry right after they have been born. This is the plant that my guppy fry always go to for rest after their delivery. It keeps them safe from their "mommy and daddy's" until they are strong enough to swim. If you are trying to raise your own fry these plants are a must for your aquarium!

It looks quite decent but I strongly recommend you to soak and wash for about a week.

I soaked the two plants it came with in a small bowl for a week, and when I was drowning the water out of the bowl, the water was completely foamy. I soaked in warm water until the foam mostly resided. Then I placed it in my fish tank for about a week with all of my other new artificial plants and rocks and filtered the water for a week, keeping my fish in a different tank. My fish are fine. And they enjoy having places to hide.

These came wrapped in a plastic bag. I had to soak them in hot water to stretch them out and clean them.

Once in the aquarium the plants gently sway as a result of the filter flows. It provides a pleasing effect.

What can I say very nice. I don't like that the colors are not natural, to bright but in several weeks algae forms and it makes little difference. I'm not a guy who takes them out and soaks them in a light clorox solution and lets them dry in the sun for two days.so what's the diff.

Aquavista Panoramic Wall Aquarium

Aquavista Panoramic Wall Aquarium, Black, 6-Feet WideI ordered this product about 9 months ago through Amazon, choosing to do so through Amazon for the free shipping. When I installed it and filled it up with water it leaked severely, apparently due to damage incurred during shipping. I contacted the manufacturer and I have to say that they responded well at that time. Because I had purchased it through Amazon, they told me that I would have to ship it back to Amazon(almost $200 to do so!), get a credit, and they would sell me another tank and deliver it. So far pretty reasonable. All of that went well. Amazon was great on crediting the return and Aquavista delivered my replacement unit as agreed. I bought the tank for my office wall and wanted to have a planted tank with slow moving fish. Because of the size of the tank and 2-lamp light array, low light plants are the only ones that you can plant but that didn't bother me. There were some issues. The two water pumps are high output, making the tank only suitable for fish found in faster moving water. I have a school of mixed danios, a few praecox rainbows, and a chinese algae eater in the tank and they are doing well. Slower fish such as gouramis, bettas, angels, or any lake fish would not be able to tolerate the amount of water movement in the tank. While cycling the tank and before buying the danios, I tried to find replacement pumps that had a lower water volume. The wattage was different that those that I could find on the market, so I contacted aquavista. They said that they could provide slower pumps, but never responded again when I attempted to purchase them from them. In addition, I've found that the automatic feeder fouls in a week or so from moisture and is useless. The T5 lamps as provided are no good for a planted tank (but great for growing algae). They are also of an odd wattage (28) and length ( 45.2"), making finding suitable replacements very difficult. My email to aquavista about 6500K replacement bulbs went unanswered. I did find the bulbs that I needed on line and finally found a seller that would sell less than a case of 40. ( They sell in lots of 10, but still better than having to buy a case.) Other than the truly crappy aftermarket support, and odd wattage of component parts, I do like the tank. It was the best option that I could find on the market for a wall mounted tank. Would I buy from them again? No.

The first month I had this product I was very pleased. It looked great on my wall, and besides the air pump being a little noisy I had zero complaints. Then the fuse blew. No big deal, I replaced it with a new. Then the fuse blew again, and again. Obviously something was wrong with the product, so I called customer service. They had me do all this testing to see what was wrong; again, makes sense. However, after doing everything they asked me to do, they basically told me "oh well". After threatening to write a bad review, they finally listened and I talked to the CEO of the company. He said he would take care of the issue (bad power supply unit) and send me a new part right away. It's been about three weeks since I talked to him. I've called about five times after that, with the boss being on vacation, manager busy, we'll call you back, etc etc. Still no power supply unit, all my fish have died in the aquarium because it's been off for well over a month now. Be very wary of this company; their one year warranty is a bunch of garbage and you'll be left with a black box on your wall and a lot of fish in your toilet bowl.

Having never owned an aquarium, when I came across AquaVista's Panoramic Aquarium, I knew it was the one I had to have. I called Aquavista to get some questions answered and they were great. I had a lot of questions and they took the time to address each question and sent pictures to clarify.

The unit is the show piece of my office-home theater, (so much for the 65 in Plasma 3D TV that was supposed to have that designation). It is truly a work of art. The unit arrived 1 day earlier than promised from Amazon. There were some issues due to how UPS shipped it and there was damage to the unit. Amazon has been wonderful in dealing with this and given it was not their fault, I could not ask for anything more from them.

Aquavista has provided exceptional customer service. All companies should model their customer service to match Aquavista's. They have done all that they can to make the unit right even though they did nothing wrong. They exemplify what customer service is all about. There are a couple of changes I would make to the system:

* The instruction manual should be a bit more specific on programing.

* The auto feeder should allow for every other day feeding.

Both of these are very minor annoyances.

The system is wonderful, fully automatic and is a stunning addition to any room you would add it to. I would recommend this to anyone that is considering an aquarium of any kind. Everyone that has seen mine now wants one. As soon as I can complete some other projects I will be adding a second one to the bedroom or exercise room.

I OWN an Aquavista aquarium, AquaVista 500, which is a smaller square tank less than 10 gal. The wall hanging aquariums are great decoration, do not require dedicated furniture & make for great conversational art work. The aquariums are easy to care for. Although 15mins might be optimistic, I spend more time enjoying the aquarium & my fish. Built-in & comes with everything: Water filter, air pump, heater, light. Add gravel fish & water & you're done. I have replaced the built-in air pump with a standard Tetra model, because the air pump was noticeably noisy. This was personal preference. But wired the replacement into the system power & control panel, so it runs as programed. Smaller 1.5" ' 2" fish are beautiful in this aquarium. Have 10 fish total, includes a plecostomus, which keeps the environment free of algae. Even have a couple of small plants & a log. They all seem happy, healthy & alive

Cheers !

I purchased an Aquavista 500 for a treatment room in my dental office. At first I had a few fish die and an algae problem. When I found a balance with 7 approx 1 inch fish and a plecostomus for the algae, it stabilized. I purchased and started a second one with no problem, and all has been well for over 6 months for both tanks. I feed the fish 3 times a week (2 minutes), exchange 1 gallon of water with the included siphon every 2 weeks (5 minutes max), and have changed the little filter strip about every 2 months (5 minutes). Nothing else, and patients marvel at how clean the tanks are every day! Many think the whole set-up is fake at first because they have never seen anything like it and it is soooo clean. I guess fish type choices are limited due to the size, but there are some pretty cool smaller fresh water fish, and you can see them all the time because of the tank's thin style. It was super easy to mount (30 minutes, maybe). I'll be purchasing the 5 or 6 foot version soon for my reception area.

Cascade® Hang-On Power Filter Pumps - UL Listed

Penn Plax Cascade 200 GPH Power FilterAfter researching a number of different filters for my 20-gallon gourami tank, I decided to give this one a try. It is designed with function in mind, including an adequate system of bio-filtration and flow control. Flow control, though simple in design, is a nice feature to have that is sadly lacking on many HOB filters. This feature was important to me as gouramis are labyrinth fish who prefer slow-moving water, and I wanted the ability to adjust the flow, if necessary.

One reason I hesitated to invest in this filter is that, although the filter itself is very reasonably priced, the replacement filter cartridges are somewhat expensive. Fortunately, the size of the intake tube is just right to use one of these pre-filters: Pre-Filter Sponge 3 Pack for Fluval Edge Aquarium This increases the biological filtration even more while filtering small particles before they ever enter the filter itself. I simply rinse the pre-filter in aquarium water ever two weeks or so and replace the filter cartridge once a month, since activated carbon expires monthly. Rinsing the pre-filter is an easy step, since this has an extendable intake tube, making it easy to detach the endpiece from the filter itself without having to actually pull the sponge off the intake every time. The filter even continues to run while I do this, as long as the end of the intake is submersed. As an added bonus, my flower shrimp loves to eat the particles of food that collect on the sponge, and as a filter feeder, she enjoys the luxury of hanging on the intake to make use of the flow without the danger of being harmed by the filter intake. Meanwhile, between some tinkering with the flow control and the addition of the sponge, the flow itself is weak enough to not upset my male/female pair of gouramis, who are able to blow bubble nests and engage in spawning behavior. Even though this is only a 20-gallon tank, the flower shrimp, clown pleco and mystery snails have their own space, and the gouramis have theirs. Having a sponge pre-filter and flow control also benefits the live plants in my tank, especially the java fern, which proliferates easily and abundantly, but often can be damaged by filter intakes when the young ferns float about the tank before finding a piece of driftwood or other material where they can grow.

In terms of reliability, I have run this filter steadily for four months as of the writing of this review, and, used in conjunction with some additional sponge filters, this has proven itself to be reliable. It is self-priming and consistently restarts automatically following a power outage. It even runs steadily during a partial water change, and the 'Bio-Falls' system seems to provide additional aeration for the water, which is important not only for providing oxygen for my water-breathing creatures, but helps remove toxic substances, which benefits all of the creatures in my tank, including the air-breathing gouramis.

To conclude, I will provide a brief list of pros and cons:

PROS:

1. It is inexpensive

2. It is effective in terms of mechanical, chemical, and biological filtration

3. It is reliable and self-priming

4. It fits the inexpensive Fluval sponge pre-filters

5. It has flow control

CONS:

1. Replacement cartridges are not easily found in stores

2. Replacement cartridges are expensive (but this can be easily addressed by using an inexpensive sponge pre-filter, extending the cartridge life to at least a full month)

I purchased this filter to replace the cheap starter filter that came with my aquarium. The problem with my original filter was the lack of a bio sponge, so that every time I replaced the filter medium, ammonia levels would rise while the new filter grew bacteria, resulting in the nitrite spike when the bacteria finally caught up. I don't know whether this filter would actually handle a 50 gallon aquarium, but on a 20 gallon aquarium, cloudy water and detectable levels of ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite have become a thing of the past.

When I initially set up the filter it was a bit noisy, but after removing and reinstalling the impeller it ran with an almost indiscernible hum. The bio falls booster has the additional side effect of slowing the water on the way out of filter so that it reenters the aquarium less violently than my previous filter despite pumping twice as much water. This helps the filter run quietly with no splashing if your water level is adjusted properly.

The activated carbon filter is unique in that it is broken into a number of cells that each contain activated carbon. As a result, more of water flowing through the filter is exposed to the carbon without sacrificing ease of a slide-in cartridge.

I have only two criticisms of this filter. First, the flow of the carbon cartridge should have been made higher, as there is a small amount of overflow even when this cartridge is new if the filter flow is adjusted to the maximum setting. Second, most of the noticeable noise from the filter comes from the vibration of the lid. This can be overcome by running without the lid, or by using a small piece of tape. This vibration made me question the build quality of an otherwise excellent filter.

The cascade 100 hang on aquarium filter is an excellent choice for your filtration system. It has the bio-sponge for beneficial bacteria and the waterfall release also grows benefical bac. for your fish. Very quiet and hangs perfectly on my tall hex-aquarium. Overall I love this filter. Just make sure you do your water changes and filter changes on opposite weeks. You will kill some benefical bacterica when you do either. But the other will suffice till new bacteria grows.

I have had 2 marineland power filters emperor(very loud) and penguin (somewhat loud). I didn't mind the water sound but the motors sound like a blender. I then got a Fluval Aquaclear that is really nice and quiet with a tiny hum that you can only hear up close. I have a 75 gallon tank so I wanted to add an additional filter to the aquaclear. After reading the reviews for the Cascade model I decided to give it a try especially at 27$. Plugged it in and was amazed that it was near silent. I would recommend this filter to anybody that is annoyed by droning sounds. Also works really well at keeping the water clean. Cant go wrong with this one for sure, my new favorite.

Aquatop Zen Nano Glass Aquarium Fish Tank ZN-3G Black 2.6 Gallons

Aquatop Zen Nano Glass Aquarium Fish Tank ZN-3G Black 2.6 GallonsStunning little tank, with quality glass body & glass lid. Filter is literally noiseless and comes with bio-media. filter compartments can be filled with other material as needed. LED light produces a nice slightly cool blue-ish tone. Light will need to be upgraded if you intend to keep live plants or corals, which you'd expect to do at this price point.

Overall, you cant beat the quality and look of this tank especially when comparing to other brands similar sized tanks.

I didn't buy the tank from amazon, but I really like this tank that I feel I should write something here (since no review is available yet).

My betta fish originally lived in an one-gallon plastic hexagon tank TOM Mini Hex 1gal Aquarium Kit with UGF, Air Pump without using the air pump. I change water twice a week, but he was still sick. He had rotted and split fin (got worse everyday), body was pale and eyes were dull. I went to an aquarium store, the owner gave me some Thailand herb for the fish, and told me that the fish needs to have warm water (like 78-80F)... However, even the smallest tank heater requires at least 2 gallon of water. That's why I decided to buy this tank. This tank comes with built-in filtration system, bio-balls, ceramic rings, glass lid and LED lighting. The set up is pretty simple. The only thing is that the water flow is a bit too strong for betta fish. I use a piece of plastic sheet, fold it and slide into where the water comes out to redirect the water flow, my betta is very happy and energetic now. Glass tank looks much better than plastic one. I put some plants too, and the water seems very clean all the time (compare to my old setup). You may consider adding filter foam to remove the dust and debris or also adding a nitrate remover pad to eliminate brown algae.

This heater works very well with this tank: Hydor THEO Submersible Aquarium Heater 25W UL

I also bought this: Marina Floating Thermometer with Suction Cup

BTW, the Thailand herb really works for betta, but I don't see anyone selling it online. If you google "Thailand enhancing herb for Betta plakats fighting fish", you may see what it is..

One of the prettiest artificial plants I have ever bought. It has a graceful bend in the water, very similar to the photo. Very full and lushious looking. The base is tan and heavy so holds this large plant in place. At a generous 24 in tall, it looks great in my 75gal tank. The leaf color is light green which look really nice against a blue or black backdrop.

I have found that i like plastic better than silk while silk plants look nice to start with, they start to get discolored and start to fray after about 5 mths. Living plants are more work and take time to get this big. So I'm sticking with easy inexpensive artificial plants.

very happy with this, going to buy more!

My 4-year old wanted a fish, so we got him a Beta and he named it Soggy (no kidding, he picked the name). I bought this bowl becuase it was the right size, a decent price and MADE IN THE USA. The packaging was excellent. Now I just need to figure out how to train my 4-year old to change the water every week...

Laguna Pressure-Flo 3200 UVC Filter

Laguna Pressure-Flo 3200 UVC FilterI have owned this filter for about three years and run it 24/7. The difference it made in my pond clarity was like night and day. I can actually see my fish again!! The UV 25 watt lamp replacement is spendy and I go through at least one a year but it is well worth it. When the lamp burns out, my pond does not take long to tell me, as the clarity soon deteriates. I recently discovered the backwashing function did not seem to be effective any longer but finally figured out the foam filters which are scrubbed in the cleaning process shrink over time and no longer make contact with the scrubbing blades. Replacements are now on the way. Living in Montana, I am forced to move fish and filtration system into my garage in the winter but I have found this easy to do. Highly recommend this product to anyone who cares about keeping healthy, clear water in their pond!Laguna Pressure-Flo 3200 UVC Filter

I have a 700-800 gallon koi pond and I purchased this to replace my last filter that died after 5 years. This filter was cheaper, and did a far better job. This summer I had no problems with algae at all, the UV worked as advertised. Additionally, the filters are incredibly easy to clean using the backwash feature. Considering the ease of maintenance and overall performance of this system I would definitely purchase it again. As an added bonus this item was HUNDREDS of dollars cheaper then at the local aquaculture store. Be sure to read specs many manufacturers seem to change the names of some identical products.

I brought the Laguna Pressure-Flo 3200 UVC along with the Laguna Max-Flo 2900 Electric Waterfall and Pump because I thought I was getting the best. I spent $500 for both. And because I spent that kind of money, we hired a electrician to run electric underground and mounted outlets by the pond. It took over a month to get this done and find the right flexible hose to connect both. Before I even got a chance to plug them into the outlet, I went to connect the intake hose to the filter and it cracked!!! I plugged them both into the electric outlet and water was shooting out!!! $350!!! I was desperate. I put Gorilla Glue and eventually bought a can of rubber spray to seal the crack. I called Hagen, who manufactures the Laguna products, to complain about the poor quality of their product. (If you look at the picture of the filter you'll see how thin the side intake area is compared to the outtake area and the area that dispenses the waste. Oh no, you can't see it because it is on the right side.) Their reply was "We do not cover that. Do you want to make a formal complaint?" He gave me an email address.

I was able to find a replace lid from a company online for $40, but I'm trying to make due with what I have. It looks ugly. Unfortunately, in the last four days I've went in the back yard to find an empty pond. The hose keeps coming off the filter. I connected the hoses to the attachments that came with filter. First time I had electrical tape to try and secure it. Second time I had a clamp screwed in tight. It still came off!!! My husband helped me put an additional clamp on both using an power drill to make sure they are secure. I'm so paranoid. I keep looking out the window to see if there is water in the pond. Fortunately, the pump is still working!!!

Would I recommend this filter to anyone??? NO!!! I almost have my mind made up that if it disconnects again to just buy a skimmer or just connect the pump to a waterfall attachment and count the loss. We shall see. By the way, when it is connected the pond is nice and clear. But just the problem of worrying about it leaking where it cracked and the hose disconnecting is too much!!

Signed,

Very Disappointed

Update Well, the Gorilla Glue and rubber spray finally gave way. Fortunately, I had ordered the replacement lid from Amazon for $29. Thank you Amazon!!! Was able to transfer everything over to the new lid. I was shock on how the flow of the waterfall is so much stronger now. I finally go my pond the way I want it. No thanks to Laguna!!!

After 6 months or so the filter foam elements shrink and the cleaning blades become ineffective. Also somehow mud bypasses the foam elements and settles in the bottom. In order to get it working, filter elements are to be replaced and filter cleaned on a regular basis.This is expensive and time consuming. I am replacing it with a filter but without foam elements, and the biospheres can be back washed.

We purchased this UVC filter thinking we were getting one of the best on the market. It did a great job of reducing the algae in our koi pond within a few days. Things went great until we put it away for the winter. We VERY carefully disassembled everything and packed it away with cushioning. In the spring, we carefully inspected and reassembled everything. Once it was running, we quickly realized the UVC light wasn't working as the algae was getting the best of the pond. I ordered a new replacement bulb thinking it was regular maintenance and per the owner's manual.

The algae got worse, so I took the thing apart again. The bulb was clearly blown--black smudges near the connectors. I ordered a new bulb and consulted the owner's manual. I did the wet test as per the book and found there was water inside the quartz sleeve, which obviously blew the bulb. Now I have to find someplace to get it fixed, or I can buy a new head assembly for eighty bucks.

Boo! I wish I'd bought a different style of UVC light, which was all we really needed.
