I'm already thinking who's birthday is next to get this for them! It has an air pocket in the back for oxygen, recordable message button (which is super cool), night light (in the neck of the animal), bow to make it boy or girl, rocks, and fake plant. I really loved this idea!! I read other reviews about the tank not staying clean... Well, it's a basic tank with messy fishit does not have a filter. You DO need to clean it. I lean mine once a week or as needed if they are messier one week. Im going to be looking into adding real plants and an oxygen tube.

I've had my AL for 2 years now. It is flawless. It offers a wonderful timer with battery backup(to keep track of time for 30min, not for backup lighting), great reflectors, and easily replacable moonlight LEDsThe good parts: Well ventilated for ballasts/bulbs. Reflectors are really good, although not seperate. I am able to GROW acropora's and montiporas underneath it (I do use ATI bulbs though). The moonlights cover the entire tank, not just one portion and are easy to replace.
The innards are also VERY easy to replace should something go wrong. My first fan broke, I found a comparable power computer fan and plugged it right in, no wiring skills needed.
AquaticLife customer support is UNSURPASSED. I had one issue with LEDs once, they mailed me a full set, no questions asked.
They are seriously fast to respond, and the best company I've ever dealt with.
The bad parts: While the fixture is well ventilated, I dont think its enough for the LEDs. Mine started blinking within a couple months and then burnt out. I replaced them under warranty and it happened again fairly quickly. I can live without moonlights, but its sad as I like the look.
The breakdown: This fixture is an AMAZING compromise between price and power. It has the ability to support most coral, and easy to fix in a pinch. I would HIGHLY recommend this fixture if you dont mind loss of moonlights.

amazing light! I love it out it on my 60 gallon. Beautiful. I found that the 3 LEDS lights for night time was too bright so I unplugged 2 lights, perfect. This castle is even more gorgeous in person than it is in the picture. The coloring is beautiful & it's very impressive looking. Also, the fish love it because there are so many places for them to swim in & out of. Ordered this set and everyone in the family was so excited to receive it. Unfortunately the packaging is a little tight and one of the castle backing broke off. We were devistated after having spent such a large amount on this decoration. However, to our surprise the piece that broke off allows our turtles to hide within the castle and stick their heads out the window when they see you. This has become the prime sleeping spot for most of our turtles and we love it. The castles are a pain in the butt to clean, because of all their detail. But lately I've let the algae grow on them and it seems to add more character and depth to the pieces. The set is 5 castles two of which should sit next to each other because of their waterfall (don't know about this feature since it is an underwater decoration). Their are another two fairly large pieces and one smaller castle. I only used three of the large castles in my 75gal and ended up putting the smaller two of the set into my 25 gal bow front aqaurium. All look great next to the Vibran-Sea silk plants and with my white sand substrate. I wouldn't change a thing about these castles; luckily that piece broke off in shipping or my turts would never have discovered such a prime hiding spot.

Hydro II Sponge Pro Filter - Up to 20 gallons
Most aquarium filters now use a motor to force water through some kind of filter pad which must be replaced at intervals. However, before there were reliably sealed electric motors, most home aquariums moved water using the "airlift" principle, in which a rising column of bubbles pulled water through the filtering material. This is an elegant and just about failsafe method. Debris in the tank cannot ever jam the external air pump which feeds the filter, and if electricity is interrupted, the filter cannot lose siphon, it simply starts bubbling again when power is restored to the air pump. Many fish love to play in the rising stream of bubbles.Hydro Sponge filters, first marketed in the 1990's, are a more recent application of the airlift. Hydro Sponge II is intended for aquariums up to 20 gallons. Made of dense, strong plastic with a weighted base which holds the sponge up away from the aquarium bottom, they dismantle easily for cleaning of the sponge. The pores within the sponge provides an enormous surface area for colonization by beneficial bacteria providing very thorough biological filtration. They can be powered by an air pump with or without an airstone (using an airstone will give finer bubbles and make less noise), or with an electric powerhead for those with larger tanks or who simply feel the need for more energetic water movement.
It is difficult to imagine such a simple device working well. Surprisingly, they are excellent, and can be used as the only filter in the tank for many applications. I've used them on tanks sized from 10 gallons up to 75 gallons, always with good results. The local fish store where I shop has an expensive trickle filter for their dozens of tanks, and every single freshwater tank also has a Hyrdo Sponge or similar sponge filter as well. Apparantly the sponge is doing something which the trickle filter doesn't?
Maintainence is as simple as the filter. When you perform your periodic aquarium water change, (20% every week) save some of the old water in a bucket. Separate the top and bottom parts of the filter and remove the sponge from the tank. Squeeze it out in the bucket. See all the stuff which the sponge removed from the water? Reinstall the sponge and refill your tank. Go have dinner with the money you saved not purchasing replacement filter cartridges.
In sum, a clever and elegantly simple device which works very well.
If you do a little online research you may find that the combination of this type of filter with a "power head" aerator will not only keep your aquarium cleaner and help your fish stay healthier, but it will also save you time and money as a result of its simple design. By merely rinsing the filter periodically, you will keep your aquarium cleaner without all the hassles of draining your aquarium regularly or buying replacement charcoal filter bags as is the case with popular "power filters" found in most big-box stores.
I have a small 10 gallon tank that I retrofitted with some 1 1/4" hose to make the Hydro II sponge filter (20 gal) fit properly. I should have bought the 10 gallon version that is not quite as tall. Now my tank stays cleaner, longer, and I am pleased not to have to drain my aquarium every ten days because of "power-filter" clogs or failure.

I have this hooked up as a prefilter to a bio wheel 100 HOB on a 10g FW tank that I'm cycling. It's great because I've noticed even thought the water was clear when i put it in it's not full of food that my cycling minnows can feed off of. There is lil to no flow restriction. I hope is stays that way. May change after time and buildup of bacteria and waste/food particles. I use this sponge filter as a secondary filter for my 10G hospital/breeding tank. I use it with a Hagen AquaClear Power Filter Mini 20 (100) The Aquaclear is turned off from time to time(new fry) but the sponge filter is constantly on. This piece has an odd odor inside. As I cleaned it for my tank I noticed the paint was coming off the underneath. Each time I scrubbed more came off. I left it a few days, wet it and scrubbed again. More paint came off and the odor is till there. Since this happens with clear water, I decided NOT to put it in my tank. I fear the finish will come off slowly and pollute my tank and fish. I ordered two, so now they sit on my shelf.
The detailing is good, and it is hallow. If you don't want to worry about gunk inside all the crannies simply fill it with silcone. It came well packaged and quickly.
