Zoo Med Tropic Sun 5500K Daylight Fluorescent Bulb T8 18 Watt, 24-Inch

Zoo Med Tropic Sun 5500K Daylight Fluorescent Bulb T8 18 Watt, 24-InchThis lamp is cheap. Did not put out enough light. I bout a replacement after only using it for an hour. It does not have white light. It puts off a yellow hugh.i

I ordered this bulb to replace a 24" bulb that came with my Aqueon full hood. The stock bulb was a little too green tinted for my taste. I added in this one and the difference was noticeable right away. It was a little brighter and the light it produced looked more natural. This would be a good bulb for any tank with or without plants. It produces a white light with a little blueish tint to it.

This is the first fluorescent lamp I bought for my 40 gallon tank, therefore I can't compare it to others. But my life plants are thriving and the color temperature of the light creates a nice, natural look. So I can only recommend it for the price.

I bought this light for my 29g aquarium. As soon as I instaled and turned on the light the water looked green. Just a warning to those of you who think that this light will be good for growing plants. It will not grow them very well. The light emits a green tint which does not look good. I would save you $ and buy a better light. The one that I have now is an 8000k light and it works much better.

Aqueon 06078 QuietFlow 55 Power Filter, 250GPH

Aqueon 06078 QuietFlow 55 Power Filter, 250GPHI had an other brand, same specs. did not keep the tank clean. and was hard to clean the Aqueon workes very well, and easy to clean.

I have purchased 3 of these filters over the past year. Replaced cartridges with 1" thick foam. Filter moves a lot of water. Filters used under heavy load conditions-well fed koi and large fish. No noise problem as tanks kept full. Enhanced filtration by stuffing filter floss in open areas. Only complaint is that intake tube falls off easily. Plan to solve this by gluing tube in place.

Buy Aqueon 06078 QuietFlow 55 Power Filter, 250GPH Now

This filter works well, I personally find if your tank has enough water in it there is no water hitting water sound. When I do start hearing the water I know my tank needs a few gallons. That said my down side is the spinning propeller needed to be replaced after 5 months. I could wash it off and it would work, but it got really noisy. This is a 75 gal. tank but only has 7 small fish and I bought the Aqueon because the cascade 1000 was such a disappointment, so I have 2 filters on my tank. The point is it is not over worked. The frequent filter changes I solved with the Grab it dry dust and allergen clothes. they have no additives so wrapped around the filters helps the filters work MUCH better and they can be tossed in the washing machine and used over and over.

The water on water noise is really loud. It interferes with watching tv. It's not a pleasant noise either, kind of like the annoying drip of 1000 faucets. The filter media doesn't fit snugly into the holders resulting in a lot of bypass.. I've got a fluval filter on another tank.. totally quiet. Also the fluval has separately replaceable carbon sections and reusable foam for filtration... much better.

I had this review up about 2 months ago and I was asked nicely to remove it by Mark Tiger and I did remove upon the promise of a full refund if the product was shipped back, well I shipped the filter back 2 weeks ago and I've tried in the last 2 weeks to get ahold of this guy, but the only way to get ahold of him is to write a review. So here it goes, this filter is not quiet like advertised, it flows water way too loud. The innards of the filter are quiet but the water hitting water is a huge issue when I'm trying to sleep. Not recommended, and the customer service for this company is terrible.

TOM Turtle-Hermit Crab Habitat Mangrove Swamp 16-1/2 x 10 1/2 x 4-1/2

TOM Turtle-Hermit Crab Habitat Mangrove Swamp 16-1/2 x 10 1/2 x 4-1/2No turtle should live in this or any other plastic "lagoon.". Turtles are expensive to maintain in proper and humane conditions. Please do not subject a baby turtle to this death trap. The most popular pet turtle, the Red Eared Slider, requires at least 10 gallons of water per inch of shell length, filtration for 3x the size of the tank, proper water and basking temperatures, and a UVB bulb.

Hermit crabs climb. I'd say if you don't mind trying to find your crab every morning, by all means, go ahead and use this. Like another reviewer said this would be a death trap for a baby water turtle. This isn't some cheap quick fix habitat because you didn't do enough research.

HELLO FELLOW CRAB OWNERS!

THIS IS NOT SUITABLE FOR ANY CREATURE BUT AS A HERMIT CRAB OWNER HERES WHY NOT TO PUT A HERMIT CRAB IN THIS.

Hermit crabs are awesome, fun, crazy pets. BUT there is a lot of information out there that is incorrect when it comes to their care needs. PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS CAGE. I used this cage in my very early days of having hermit crabs, I then learned the hard way a lot of the things that hermit crabs need that this cage cannot provide. These are some of the things...

1. Metal is dangerous and toxic to hermit crabs, small exposure is okay but not as toys or part of their tank

2. hermit crabs need 3-6" of substrate to dig into and burry themselves in to molt successfully.

3. there is not enough room in this cage to have all the items that a crab needs.

a. salt water dish

b. fresh (declorinated) water dish

c. food dish

d. room to climb and explore

4. this cage cannot hold in heat or humidity, which is vital in keeping hermies alive. Crabs have gills, they need to be able to keep them moist at all times.

when I changed tanks, I kept this cage for "incase of an emergency" moments. If I am having an aggressive crab or crab fights, I COULD use this tank to have them calm down for a little bit or I have used this when I am deep cleaning my tank or when I moved I used this to transfer them (but I removed the water dish and metal climbing wall). Now that I have since upgraded twice, I do not use this because I have a ten gallon tank that I use to isolating an aggressive crab. If you have 1-2 hermit crabs, I have found a 10 gallon tank works good, if you plan on having more, go bigger!

ALSO, PLEASE DO NOT BUY PAINTED SHELLS FOR YOUR HERMIT CRABS -THEY ARE TOXIC !!

WWW.HERMIT-CRABS.COM is a great website, there is almost everything you need to know on this site alone,

hermit crabs require a lot more than pet stores let on. but they are incredible pets, so if you have purchased a

hermit crab for yourself or your child, please do some more research, it is not your fault that you have fallen

for the "hermit crabs only need water, pellet food, and a sponge" We all have to start somewhere. please do not let this steer you away from having hermit crabs because they are great pets, and once you put all the hard work into building a healthy crabitat and learning all the Do's and Don't(s) they are relatively easy to care for!

First, I bought this as a container for a 5th grade science project. However, I could see this being a cool hermit crab "habitat" as opposed to those cheesy little containers you get from the beach. But I can't possible see this giving a turtle a place to live. Way too small. I would think the turtle could easily climb right out of there. I would definitely look for another home for turtle. But, it worked great for 5th grade ocean project!

Marina Betta Kit Decorative Gravel, Pink

Marina Betta Kit Decorative Gravel, PinkFor whatever reason, I thought this would be a bigger package. Turns out 1 pound of gravel doesn't cover a lot of tank. Maybe enough for a small betta bowl, or to mix and match with other colors to make for a prettier bowl. I ended up buying another bag at the local pet shop in order to have enough to fill the bowl

make sure you read the amount, of only 8.5oz, hardly enough for a coating on the little 1.5gallon tank

at this price it is almost the same price for the 5 lb bags(80oz) you can get at the pet store

it does seem like a good quality stone on the plus side

BUT, it's much too fine for my taste.

I use this in my aquariums, and find myself having to pick it out of my drains...

Thats my only ANNOYANCE, other than that... it's doable.

Seachem Neutral Regulator 250gram

Seachem Neutral Regulator 250gramAs far as keeping the pH in your aquarium at 7.0 this product works great if used according to the directions. It claims to remove chlorine, chloramine and ammonia with some kind of "conditioning agents" and this may very well be true but if you rely on chemical means to remove ammonia as opposed to doing water changes you are minimally asking for stressed fishes if not sick or dead eventually. In any case, the downfall to this product is that it is made up of phosphate salts, which as you add this product to your tank it causes the phosphates (PO4) to build in concentration. High levels of PO4 in your aquarium is not what you want because it can and will cause algae blooms beyond your control. Ideally, PO4 levels in your tank should be zero to very low levels that can't be detected with colorimetric test kits. If you have algae problems in your tank I highly recommend investing in a PO4 test kit. You must do a water change to get rid of phosphates, don't rely on any product to remove PO4 unless you have a reef tank (salt water) and need to remove low levels!

As far as keeping your pH at neutral you would also make life much easier by investing in a pH pen (i.e. Waterproof pH Tester; ~$40-$100) and the calibration solutions for it. Use liquid pH down (API brand) and you can use store bought baking soda (Sodium Bicarbonate; NaHCO3; Arm and Hammer brand fine...cheap too!) to bring your pH up; however, you may still want some liquid pH up too. The NaHCO3 will increase your pH and carbonate hardness (Alkalinity) helping to stabilize your pH as the phosphate buffers do in Seachem's Neutral Regulator WITHOUT the PO4! Turn your pH pen on and take the pH of your tank while you add pH up or down until you increase or decrease the pH by no more than 0.2 pH units. In other words, if your pH is 6.4 and you want to be at 6.9 increase it from 6.4 to 6.6 the first day. Then the next day go from 6.6 to 6.8 etc. My experience is that in the above example you'll find that the pH of 6.6 you set the day before will drop by the following day so just work your way up incrementally. This is because the organisms in your aquarium utilize the carbonate. Also get yourself a hardness test kit too (API brand) that gives you general and carbonate hardness and follow directions for adjusting to levels suitable for your fishes. Incidentally, Drs. Axelrod's and Burgess's fresh and marine atlases, respectively, provide this information for numerous fishes. I know this sounds complicated but the reality is this is the proper way to maintain a fish tank. It's a hobby and should be fun to do! Dedicate some time to caring for the water quality and you'll have much healthier, vibrant and happy fishes!

I purchased this product for my 20 gallon freshwater aquarium. My aquarium had been neglected for some time, and the nitrate levels were over 200ppm, GH over 400, and a KH that would hardly ready anything on the test strip. I added an incorrect buffer (too much baking soda) and shot my pH from 6.6 to 8.4, KH went to 300ppm. I need to get these numbers under control.

I did several water changes and my GH would only show a slight drop and my KH was not moving. My nitrate levels did decrease with better maintenance of the aquarium.

Over the course of 5 days I added 7 teaspoons of Seachem Neutral Regulator. The first day the water turned cloudy and this continued for 2 days. On the 3rd day, I added some AP Crystal Clear water clarifier, which caused the parcipitated calcium and magnesium to clump up and be captured by my HOB filter (AquaClear 50 with pre-filter sponge, biomax, matrix, and foam insert). Each day the pH started to decrease.

12-12-11

pH: 8.4.

Ammonia: 0ppm.

Nitrate: 60ppm.

Nitrite: 0ppm.

GH: 425ppm.

KH: 260ppm.

After adding Seachem Neutral Regulator from 12-16-11 to 12-21-11 (7 teaspoons total and no water changes):

pH: 7.6.

Ammonia: 0ppm.

Nitrate: 0ppm.

Nitrite: 0ppm.

GH: 120ppm.

KH: 120ppm.

Seachem Neutral Regulator softens water, neutralizes ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite.

20 gallon high tank, with undergravel filter, and an old penguin biowheel 100 (upgraded to AquaClear 50 on 11-25-2011). Aquarium has been operating for just under 5 years.

1mature angelfish.

4albino cory catfish.

3guppies.

4platies.

5ghost shrimp.

Several ramshorn snails.

The product does what it says it will do. Although I am currently only at a pH of 7.6, this product is trying to overcome a carbonate based buffer that wants to keep my pH at a high level (8.4). Seachem Neutral Regulator is a phosphate based buffer and had clearly done its job by reducing the pH, GH, and KH.

I would buy this product again and recommend it to others. Please keep in mind that a phosphate based buffer can cause algae growth if planted aquariums. My aquarium is planted, but with plants that do well in low light. Higher light levels can lead to unwanted algae growth (as indicated by the manufacturer).

I'm essentially going to copy my review for Acid Regulator in this space, because in my experience, the two products are linked I use them together.

Maybe I shouldn't be surprised as to how effective, after all Seachem is a company worth its salt, but I haven't had success with all of their products (Acid Buffer, PH Alert) but I have adored Prime, Flourish and now the "Regulator" series.

Anyway, when used in conjunction with Acid Regulator, the efficacy is amazing. In buffered water the results are extremely predictable. I keep Clown Loaches, Neon Tetras, Albino BN Plecs, and Cories, so soft, slightly acidic water is needed. Finally, a product that helps me get there, and stay there.

I brought the pH down from an enormous 8.0 to 6.8 over the course of 6 weeks (so as to not shock the fish). I have let it lie for 1 week since and the pH is stable. I had to do a little improvising... since my initial pH was so high, and my tap water so unbuffered, I needed more than the recommended dose. I had to add a small amount almost every day after the initial dose, and monitor the results closely with a pH liquid test. (For this I chose API's tests the pH tests are accurate). I would take 4 test tubes, and keep up to 4 previous measurements over the days, so I could see the subtle changes in pH. Trust me, you almost have to do this to tell the difference between, for example, 7.6 and 7.4 on the low pH scale.

Anyway, ever since achieving the target pH of 6.8, I don't need to add Regulator all the time anymore, just when doing a water change. I did one today, added the 1:1 dose of Neutral Reg to Acid Reg and guess what? My pH stayed exactly at 6.8. Awesome.

Ever since getting the pH to where it needed to be, my fish have thrived. They are active, lively, eating well, and growing.

Neutral Regulator works, and it WILL bring your pH to 7, and it WILL buffer your water, even if it softens it, and keep your pH stable.

I dock a star because it's expensive, and because it wasn't particularly intuitive how to use it for proper results. But it wasn't rocket science either, just basic science. :)

I bought this when I had just moved to a new place. I hadn't fully tested the water but I knew the pH was way too high. Unfortunately this regulator didn't really work but it was because my carbonate levels were out of control. If pH is your only issue then this stuff will probably be great for you. Just make sure you test your water first.

Danner 02519 Mag Drive Model 1.9 190 GPH Statuary Pond Pump with 10-Foot Cord

Danner 02519 Mag Drive Model 1.9 190 GPH Statuary Pond Pump with 10-Foot CordI purchased this as a replacement for one that failed after a short time. I was trying to replace with the same pump, but that was a mistake, because the new one has already failed too. Poor design!

The problem is with the little plastic shaft and its cog that engages a cog in the shaft sleeve of the impeller. There is play and *they do not fully mesh*, so after a month or two, the plastic sleeve just breaks from wear and the impeller stops spinning. I found that I could put the pieces together with a dose of superglue (making the whole assembly solid) and that got the broken pumps to work... for now, but there is no way I can recommend this pump. Be forewarned!

This went from super loud to broke in a matter of 3 days. This product blows harder than a humback whale coming to the surface after hours under the water.

I bought another one, and it failed after 3 months. I glued the rotor blade to the impeller and it worked for a while. Now the motor has failed. Poor design. Not recommended.

By comparison, I had bought a larger Little Giant pump (1150 gph)for a larger pond, and it has been running without problems for more than 10 years!

These U.P. Aqua long tweezers are very useful to keep aquarium plants as well as for other aquarium chores.

Now, some aquarium brands sell tweezers at ridiculous (or outrageous) prices. But, guess where they are from? For example, ADA tweezers are from Pakistan (no offense to Pakistan people, though). And the price is well over $40 or $50. I don't believe the labor costs for Pakistani workers are so high that those tweezers have to be over $40 or %50 dollars per set.

This U.P. Aqua pinsettes show a very good quality. The tips are well matched and accurate. I can work on tiny coral mosses with them.

Some might consider a smaller tweezers. I have a smaller one, but I use this long one so much more frequently although my tanks are lesser than 12 inch deep. I believe if you want only one tweezers, this size would be better.

Omega One Super Veggie Seaweed Clip

Omega One Super Veggie Seaweed ClipAlmost didn't buy this after reading the other reviews. Glad I gave it a chance! Maybe they've made improvements or something, but this is a solid, well-made little clip that does exactly what it's supposed to do. Holds the seaweed long enough for the fish to devour it. I've been using this for a couple weeks, and it looks like it will last forever. When I get another fish tank, I'll buy another clip for that one.

Like the previous reviewer i took this thing out of the package, attempted to open the clip by squeezing on the upper part of th clip, and a central plastic piece snapped in half, rendering it useless. That was the first time i ordered the product.

The second time (ie tonight) I scoured the box looking for *directions*, there were *none*, so I again tried opening the clip as anyone might do and the same central plastic piece snapped again. it's truly maddening!

POTENTIAL BUYERS If you a going to buy this clip be careful when opening for the first time. Now that I've destroyed two I think the way it works is that you slide off/up the central plastic u-shaped piece.

OMEGA ONE if you are going to make an incredibly non-intuitive-use product, put directions on the package!

01/08/13 UPDATE I filed a written complaint to the clip manufacturer, Omega One, and received the following response. Based on this I would NOT recommend buying this clip on any website, as it appears it is very likely to be an imitation / non-authentic knock-off product!

"Hi Chris,

Thank you for contacting Omega One.

I am sorry to hear about your problem, however we do not condone the sale of our products on Amazon.com or Ebay. We do not directly sell to online retailers, and any item that is on a website like that is not from a certified Omega One retailer. If by chance an Omega One product is listed on any of those websites there is a good chance it is not actually our product, so we highly recommend not purchasing from anyone except a certified Omega One retailer (a brick and mortar store). Aqueon 06051 Betta Food, 0.95-Ounce

Aqueon 06051 Betta Food, 0.95-OunceI've been giving my betta this food for about 5 months, ever since I got him. He's always been healthy and happy. I give him 3 in the morning and 2 at night. I also give him a treat of a blood worm once or twice a week.

It took him a little while to get used to the food, probably due to the stress of a new environment and being fed a different brand in the pet store. For the first day or two he wouldn't eat, and I had to suction up the sunk pellets. However, after a couple of days he gobbled these up.

I pour a few pellets into the lid and drop them in his tank one at a time. They float for a few seconds, giving him plenty of time to eat before I drop in the next one.

These pellets seem "tidier" than flakes, which seem to dissolve into the water. My friend uses flakes for her betta, and her tank seems to get a red slime on the bottom very quickly. When I use the pellets I know he's eating all of it without it dirtying the water.

Three of my bettas love this food. The only problem I have with it is that it sinks too quickly; I drop a small pinch in their bowls, and most of it will sink before they have a chance to eat it. Other than that, no complaints.

But I have to feed them to him one at a time to make sure he sees me drop them. Because if he misses it... it takes only 2-3 seconds for the pellet to sink.

I have black gravel, and these pellets bloat, then disintegrate, coating the black gravel pebble with brown goo.

If you have brown gravel and bottom feeders, then this is the food for your Betta.

I'm going to purchase and try the Aqueon flakes.

For the price this food is a betta favorite. I've gone through half a dozen bottles for the bettas that I breed. They absolutely love it. I've tried other more expensive brands but this does the trick and saves money.

110V 150W Watt Anti-Explosion Submersible Aquarium Fish Tank Water Heater

110V 150W Watt Anti-Explosion Submersible Aquarium Fish Tank Water HeaterThis heater works really well. I used it in a small tank, five gallons, and have had no problems with it whatsoever. It is convenient because it maintains the temperature itself, I don't have to worry about adjusting it all the time. Just plug it in and put it in. Shipping was quick and it was packaged well.

Save your money. I had it submerged in a 20 gallon tank and it lasted 3 days.

The glass body shattered

I would rate it a 5 if I could

My tank keeps going from super hot to super cold, save your money this thing is no good. It is only in a 10 gallon. The thing recently died when water leaked into it. It will not be missed since it would stay constant at one temperature then suddenly rise or drop, and you never know when it is actually working. Also the instructions are in horrible English, a kindergartner would realize it has terrible English. Other than a brief description, it has no directions, and it also tells you to refer to a chart which is not included, so you guess a random number and hope it is a good temperature. I also tried converting the numbers like they were in Celsius, they are not.

The company contacted me and refunded me I think that they are a good company with good customer service. I am a CSR myself. The company may have other better products, but I do not recommend this product. You might have a better experience with this product, but I can assure you, you will have a good experience with their CSR's.

Was really impressed at the wattage for the price. However, within a day of putting this in the tank, it leaked water. Worst of all, when i reached in the tank to check the temp, there was voltage going through the water. Luckily, no animals were injured. But definetly NOT worth it.

Lee's 10-Inch Tube, w/Cleaning Claw

Lee's 10-Inch Tube, w/Cleaning ClawI have the Lee's gravel vac. Which I love. It comes with this tube on the end. I needed to replace my 10in. tube. I thought this was the same exact thing. Mine has the cleaning claw to protect the fish, but mine was removeable. This one is NOT removeable. It's is attached and that is a drawback as far as I am concerned. I do not always want that on the end, and I was disappointed to find when it came that I couldnt take the cleaning claw off. I assumed it woudl be detachable since mine was, but I guess I shouldn't have assumed.
