biOrb Purple Color Ball

The color ball is cute, but is way to big for the Baby Biorb. Mind you that in the packing states that the color ball is good for all Biorb tanks.

I got one of these for my birthday last year and I loved it! It definitely does add a lot of color and excitement to the aquarium. I put it in my 36 gallon tank, not a bio-orb, but it works in any tank really. The only bad thing about it is that if you don't constantly take it out of the tank and clean it, it collects algae, left over food and fish poo. Other than that it's great! :) I plan on getting all the other colors!!

EDIT: Alrighty, 2years after I got this it has completely fallen apart and lost it's color. :( I didn't really expect it to last long, but I'm still kinda sad about it. But, on the bright side, it works well as makeshift filter media! I just shoved it in my HOB filter along with some foam and it now has a large amount of beneficial bacteria growing on it. I can see it growing all over the thing! :)

I ordered this product, (Purple Color Ball) it says that the color is purple but they clearly gave me red. I thought this was a mistake and since I wanted a Red Color Ball anyway I decided to keep it. I needed to order a few more items anyway so I ordered the Purple Color Ball again and it came a SECOND time as a Red Color Ball. I was going to return it but it's a $7 item so it's just not worth it. I'll just keep my two Red Color Balls (that were supposed to be Purple Color Balls) in my tank and not bother trying to get a purple one.

Reef One Biorb Grass Ring

Despite the fact that I thought this item was a little pricey, it does do wonders for my tank. I love the way it fits around the air pump and my African Dwarf frog loves hanging on the grass. And while it is a little big for my Baby BiOrb, it's an easy way to brighten up my tank.

This decoration really boosts the appearance of my biOrb. It is easy to clean and very cute. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking to spice up the aesthetics of their aquarium. My betta fish likes it too as he frequently swims in and out of it.

I love this product. I bought it because it was aesthetically beautiful and had great reviews, and I didn't let me down! The soft leaves are not only beautiful and natural looking, but they do not tear at my fragile betta's fins like many other artificial plants of inferior quality. I have a regular cube aquarium that is 1.5g with a single delta tail betta (Merman), and I will say that even a small grass ring is quite large. It fills a huge chunk of the middle, so if you have a tiny tank (smaller than 1.5g), I wouldn't recommend it. (I'm upgrading to a 6 gallon and mixing this decor with real plants so it won't be a problem). I shoved some sand over the bottom to make it appear like it was growing out of the sand. I really like that it is weighted in a ceramic ring there's not risk of it floating up and destroying the illusion of a real plant. Another huge plus of having this biOrb grass ring is that it is hollow in the middle, obviously because it is meant to fit over the air filter tube of a biOrb. In my non-biOrb tank, the hollow middle part serves as a very ingenious "cave" that my betta loves hanging out in, and sleeping in. It is so thick with hair grass that you can't see the hollow in the middle imagine my initial surprise when I was looking for Merman and he was nowhere to be found! Eventually he came lazily swimming out of his new hang out in the middle of the hair grass, it was hilarious. He adores it.

As a tip, it is definitely worth it to gently bend the leaves while doing that first rinse, so that they end up spreading outwards in the tank. It looks much more natural that way, and your fish will love swimming in and out of the leaves. The only con is that this is really expensive by fake aquarium plant standards, but the quality and fun of it all is priceless.

Como Fish Tank Aquarium Red Clear Plastic Air Pump Check Valves 5 Pcs

I never say that an item is worthless unless it is and these check valves were the worst things that I've ever purchased anywhere, anytime, ever. I have a commercial air pump and these check valves darn near made it stop pumping they're so bad.

When I tried to pull the air hose off these check valves to take them out, they came apart in two separate pieces. Useless! I wouldn't recommend these to my worst enemy. Well , maybe to worst enemy but no one else.

I wouldn't have given them one star but at least they arrived from Hong Kong.

I used these for my 10g air pump and it works great. They stay secure by the piping and they work just as they should. Not flimsy or easily breakable from the way I've handled them so 5 star product for quality and price combo.

Blue Ribbon Cambodian Temple Ruins Aquarium Ornament

This is a beautiful ornament for a fish tank! It fits perfectly in my 29 gallon, adding to the "jungle ruins" theme I am going for. It has a nice weight to it and looks to be constructed very well. My only complaint is that a couple of the openings (the entrance and one window) are a little rough and may tear a delicate fish's fins (like my betta). A little sanding solved that problem. I highly recommend!

Polybio Poly Filter Pad 4 X 8" 3/pack

I had used many different products to try and solve our nitrate problem, but the polyfilter was the only one to work to lower the level. My tank had also had low, but nagging, ammonia and nitrite readings that lowered to 0 when I put in the polyfilter. I used the product in my Fluval 350 canister filter, slipped down on the outside of the large foam inserts. I took out my used up filter and the nitrate level elevated again. I am glad to find that Amazon has a three pack, since my local fish store only carries packs of single filters and can't keep them in stock. The only downside of this product is that it states that it can be recharged, but when I tried recharging per directions but it was no longer effective in removing the nitrates, etc.

This is a must to clear the water of any medications used recentally or at least once a year to make sure to pickup anything the skimmer can't or whatever else you use. There is no substitute for this product anywhere. Truly a perfect filter that never takes out minerals or any needs life just phosphates and protiens, amonia etc. that you want to remove. IT lasts a while with color changing properties to aid in evaluating when it is full. Never leaches back into the water ever!

Keeping coral is no easy task, and if something leaches into the system it could take weeks to months for everything to recover. I have a very good filtration setup, but I also keep these Poly Filter pads, as insurance. They work great and change color depending on what it absorbs.

Vibran-Sea Fountain Fern Silk-Style Aquarium Plant, Extra-Large 18-19 tall, Green

This plant will not stand up. It bends in half and makes a plant tunnel that the fish love. It looks a little funky slumped over. It also gets very dirty quickly. I use a stiff brush to clean it off. I looks funny but us the fish's favorite.

These look great for the price. They stand up well when cleaning off algae, too. I used a 30 minute mild bleach soak (1/2 cup in 5 gallons water) followed by a thorough rinsing. They look brand new after 6 months.

I have a 45 gallon tank and though these would be nice to go from bottom to top, the only issue is that they fall over and then algae gathers and stains the leaves. I tried scrubbing it with lemon juice and salt and it did remove the algae, but they still had brown stains on them.

This is a great looking plant, so long as you don't mind the small plastic-looking connections between the leaf segments (aka. you won't mistake it for a real plant, but it still looks nice). It moves in the water and has a weighted bottom that makes it easy to anchor. It is definitely 18-19 inches, so it sticks out of the water a little bit in my 29g tank. I have it bent in multiple directions so it provides cover at all levels of my tank. Good price here on amazon (11.99 as of today).

I have 2 of these in a 55 gallon freshwater tank... 1 more on the way!

The fish love them, they move naturally in the water, and look nice. I ususally do natural planted tanks, but decided to go with silk plants in the 55 gallon for now. These are a great alternative and fill the space nicely and are much cheaper on Amazon than at the pet store.

Wow!! For the price and the size of this thing, I was really amazed has been in the tank for about 3 weeks now still looks great and provides a home. Now I say home because if you have cichlids and they are a bit past juvenile one of them will claim this whole thing as his but still a wonderful piece. I gave it five stars because of the price and the size of it. I don't know if all of them will require sanding to make it safe, but for my fish, so they wouldn't cut themselves I had to sand mine and took about 20 minutes (with a dremel) until I was happy but still believe it was well worth the money.

I bought this for my dad for his birthday for his tank, and he really does love it. It looks really cool especially at night, the whole thing lights up with a vibrant red. But in the picture it seems like it would be way bigger than what it actually is, just take that into consideration. then again he has a 49 gallon tank so pretty big, it would easily be the center of attention in a 15 gallon or so. I also bought the volcano of the same brand, again awesome to watch but too small!

Coralife 05146 SL-65 Super Luft Air Pump

I purchased this air pump seeking a pump that would be able to power a large set of airstones at a depth of 3 feet. Many other pumps that I tried were not quite up to the task.

This pump is louder than a standard vibrator pump, but if you need a heavy duty device that pumps a lot of air, then this is the one.

Update: 8/18/2012 I'm sorry to report that the pump has failed after 8 months of service at a depth of 3 feet. Although the pump was loud, it was acceptable given the volume of air that it pumped when new. However, over time it got louder and then lost the ability to provide even a meager amount of air at a depth of 3 feet.

I have gone through several aquaruim air pumps in the last 3 years. The last one was a whisper 100 which was only about half the price of this one and lasted about 6 months. The whisper pump was really not any quieter than this one. This pump puts out alot of air and can be adjusted easily with the valves on the included manifold. It is not silent, but it is not realy loud either. If you want a silent pump, this is not for you. If you need good constant air it will deliver. I have had this pump for about 1 month now with no issues.

I read the reviews and I knew that this would not be "quiet", but I was not ready for how loud it truly is. Maybe it does a great job. Maybe it's better than diaphragm pumps...that's all well and good, but if you can't be within 30' of the tank because it's so loud, it is a waste. We put this in the tank cabinet and turned this on with the air valves off. The sound that came from the pump was the equivalent of a loud TV. There is no way to have a normal conversation in the same room as this pump when it was running. As a test, I turned it on, closed the cabinet, and made a call from my speaker phone that is about 10' from the tank, and the person on the other line asked me what the noise was without me prompting them. So, while this may very well be a solid product for what it is supposed to do, it is just too noisy to be practical in most situations.

Works really good, but it is VERY loud. You can make it run quieter by running a 3/8ths inch air line from the intake port on the pump to somewhere else. Preferably with cool air, as it runs quite hot.

Very well made and I knew it was loud, so I'm not going to knock any points off for that. It doesn't say anywhere on the box that it's a quiet pump, so there you go.
