Vibran-Sea So. Amercian Rift Cluster Silk-Style Aquarium Plant, Large 13-14 tall, Plum

Vibran-Sea So. Amercian Rift Cluster Silk-Style Aquarium Plant, Large 13-14 tall, PlumWARNING! If you purchase these plants you will want to throw out all your old plastic ones, because they look super lame next to these beauties!

This is a lovely addition to my aquarium. The silk is so much nicer looking than plastic, and my turtle can't shred it like he does to real plants. They sway with the water flow and are just lovely.

The colors are fantastic! I was nervous they would look kinda cheesy cause they are so bright, but they are perfect. I actually just ordered more, even brighter Vibran-Sea plants!

The large plants are a nice mid-level plant for my 55 gallon, and the extra tall almost reach the top.

My turtle is seriously in love with these plants. He ignores all other plants, but these he has been hanging out in these new ones. Plus my fishies seem to enjoy them as well :)

First off let me say this, this picture does not do this product justice. The product that I received clearly does not look like the picture. I was happy with this product at first, except that it didn't stand up right, the plastic was a little flimsy and would not stand up straight. I solved this issue with a small plastic rod and zip-ties to hold it in place. The biggest issue came a few months later when I saw that my filter were picking up little blue filaments. The silk plants do not last and the blue stuff goes into my filters. One last issue I had is these plants are pretty hard to clean. Perhaps I'm not cleaning them correctly, but if algae gets on them they are there to stay. They are pretty to look at in the water, but not worth the trouble. I'm going to stick with plastic aquarium plants from now on.

This plant is nice enough, but I didn't think it was all that realistic looking. It tends to have a back and a front to it, so it matters how you put it in the tank. It's taller than the other fake plants, and has plenty of leaves.

I like the look of "silk" plants and the leaves and colors on this are no exception; however, I hate how obviously fake it looks because of its plastic stems and "veins". I also have problems getting them to stand up. They just lean over while under water.

I really liked the way this plant looked when I got it, it looks great in the water and moves around like a real plant would. This one is my favorite of the 3 vibran plants that I ordered. I am disappointed because it has stained a lot. I've tried cleaning it, to no avail. I've read that you shouldn't use bleach to clean anything that will go back in an aquarium so it seems that there aren't too many other options. Nice looking plant if you can figure out a way to clean it.

A PocketExpert Guide to Marine Fishes: 500+ Essential-To-Know Aquarium Species Paperback

A PocketExpert Guide to Marine Fishes: 500+ Essential-To-Know Aquarium SpeciesInterested in setting up a Fish Only Marine aquarium? Concerned about fish that will be compatible with the invertebrates in your Reef aquarium? Want to expand your knowledge beyond the 10 basic marine fish that your local aquarium store has in stock? Then this is a good book to consider. Loaded with full color pictures (on glossy paper)of marine fish, the book gives a concise summary of hundreds of these salt water inhabitants. The book itself is easier to handle than the smaller dimension Baensch Atlas and the print is larger. And the price is good value for your aquarium dollar. Bring this book with you to the aquarium store, and when you see that incredibly beautiful marine fish that you have never seen before, a quick read in this book will give you some of the information you will need to make an informed decision as to whether this fish will fare well in your aquarium at home.

I love this book. So far it contained all the fishes that I have seen at my local fish store and the best feature of the book is that it rates each fish from 1 to 5 where 5 indicates that it is an easy fish to keep alive in the aquarium, and 1 means it is hard to keep alive in an aquarium... This is great for me because I don't have the best track record with keep my fish alive and want to only buy fish which are easy to keep. The notes about each fish are really good to. It is like having 20 aquarium guru's giving you their experiences with each fish. Also, if you have a reef setup, it tells you if each fish is reef safe.

The two "500+ Essential-to-Know Aquarium Species Books" are the biggest bang-for-your-buck aquarium stocking and general information books out there. Even though both of the books, Marine Fishes (ISBN: 1890087386 by Scott W. Michael) & Marine Invertebrates (ISBN: 1890087661 by Ronald Shimek) are pocket guides, they offer so much more information than the other books that I have seen. They don't waste space telling you about fish that you will never see in an aquarium and instead give relatively in-depth information on the species that you are likely to encounter. Neither do they present the information in hard-to-decode picture format; they use sentences: A very underused communicated technique in most aquarium handbooks out there. Not only is the selection of species perfect but the provided information on care is perfect as well. The Marine Fishes version provides the following well-presented information on each fish:

* A color picture

* Scientific name (genus & species)

* Common name

* Maximum size

* Minimum suggested aquarium size

* Aquarium suitability index

* Reef aquarium compatibility

* Captive care tips and information

Likewise, in an equally well-presented manner, A PocketExpert Guide to Marine Invertebrates: 500+ Essential-to-Know Aquarium Species presents the following information on each specimen discussed:

500+ Marine Invertebrates by Robert Shimek

* A color picture

* Scientific name (genus & species)

* Common name

* Maximum size

* Naturally-occurring range

* Lighting requirements

* Foods & feeding

* Aquarium suitability/Reef aquarium compatibility

* Captive care tips and information

Don't take my word for it, just try it with a few species that you already have in your tank or that you are considering buying by using Amazon.com's "Search inside the book feature." I recommend you buy these on Amazon.com; you get free shipping (with a $25 order) and don't have to pay sales tax.

This is a great book, and I am glad I bought it! It has almost anything an aquarist should know and use in the aquarium habit; it shows lots of fish whom are familiar to the common aquarist. It is a true encyclopedia. It surely worth the money you will spend. Don't miss itbuy it! This book, more than everything, is very useful.

It covers more than 500 species, every species has a picture, and it includes: the aquarium size it should have, the foods it needs, and who are the species it will live with in peace and more.

As long as you keep in mind that the book is under the PocketExpert Guide series then you will know what you are getting. The book does have over 500 + popular marine species but doesnt give more than very general information about each species. There are also some listings with no other information than it's photo, scientific name and its tank suitablity rank. In conclusion, its a good general book but I'll probably look for another fish book.

CaribSea Arag-Alive 20-Pound Special Grade Reef Sand, Fiji Pink

CaribSea Arag-Alive 20-Pound Special Grade Reef Sand, Fiji PinkI love this sand I have it in my oceanic biocube (FRESHWATER) and also my (SALTWATER) 135 gallon tank.practically no maintenance sand especially if you buy a couple flounders to bury under the sand and also sand sifting snails.I have had this sand in my tank for a year and looks better than the day I first added it.

loved this sand because it has alot of healthy bacteria for a new salt water tank and really helped my tank cycle very fast..very pretty sand and my snails just love it..lol..i just love the quality of this sand so much that its the only sand i use for my salt water tanks!!

I used the sand to cycle my tank. 2 months later, my tank is doing great. The sand is pretty fine but it looks great.

This sand is so much more than I thought it was going to be! First of all, it has all the good bacteria already in it, so you know your fish will do well with it. Secondly it come with a packet of clarifier to help make the water clearer faster. Because it IS sand I would definitely recommend cycling it for at LEAST a few days before you add your fish, until it's all settled.

Usually when I get a new tank and I transfer my fish at least one doesn't make it. But I haven't lost a single fish! Now I don't know if it's because of this awesome sand, or what, but that's all I can think it is.

My fish LOVE to roll in it. I know that sounds weird, but they roll on their sides and rub up against the sand. They try to burrow holes in it and they never did that with the rocks I had before. (I have cichilds) They love this stuff!

Oh, and it says Fiji Pink. it is not actually pink, it is the tan color that is showed.

Aquarius Aq12005g Glofish 2 Hex Shape 1.6-Gallon Aquarium Kit

Aquarius Aq12005g Glofish 2 Hex Shape 1.6-Gallon Aquarium KitI bought each of my kids one of these tanks for their bettas. They love them. They can each pick which light setting they want. I was hoping the bettas would glow more, but that has nothing to do with the tank. I also bought a small filter for the tanks to keep them cleaner. Great tank for the price.

I bought this tank January 2, 2013 for my Betta Jack. It was great for the first few weeks, then the lights weren't so bright anymore and now they're going out. I don't think this tank is worth the price being asked or what I paid for it by a long shot. I cannot find anyway of replacing the bulbs and the inside the hood is rusting. For all of this nonsense, plus there is no filter or anything special about this tank, other than the "great" LED lights, lol, I would not buy this again. I would not buy another tank like this again either.

BTW, quick note, another reviewer stated he was annoyed with the crappy filter, there is NO filter. That is a bubbler, NOT a filter.

Buy Aquarius Aq12005g Glofish 2 Hex Shape 1.6-Gallon Aquarium Kit Now

The aquarium I received is actually 1.8gal so that's a bit of a bonus, but in all other respects it's not worth nearly the list price (I was able to purchase it on sale). The undergravel filter keeps the water clean, though you should use gravel or decorations from a healthy, established tank when setting this up to ensure you have the proper bacteria started. After just a week of use, I noticed that screws in the hood had already begun to rust. Also, you can't use an automatic timer to turn the light on. So far all the LED bulbs seem to work fine though I'm guessing that once they go, though I would rather have the one small standard bulb that is used on most other similar small aquariums.

All in all, it's not bad but I wouldn't recommend paying more than $20 for it, if that much.

UPDATE: About 6 months after purchasing this aquarium, all of the white LED lights went out. I feel confident saying that my level of use is not excessive I kept this tank at my desk at work so the lights were only on for about 10hrs per day, 5 days a week. Also, the air pump which came with the aquarium becomes quite noisy after several months, so I had to replace it with a more powerful, though nearly quiet one. All-in-all, I'm disappointed.

The bad thing is that this bulb burnt out in 6 months averaging just 4 hours of use a day (African Cichlids, no plants in a 90 gallon). From my experiences I usually get at least 3 to 4 times that much life.

Zilla 11938 Fresh Air Screen Cover, 10-Inch by 20-Inch

Zilla 11938 Fresh Air Screen Cover, 10-Inch by 20-InchI bought this screen for my corn snake because the screen I was using before was plastic and melted from my heat lamp. I had read great things about zilla screens and they are all true!

The screen is very sturdy and fits over the tank almost perfectly, there is a 1/4" gap on one side meaning I either mis-measured my tank, or the screen is actually 20-1/4" but this does not remove the functionality.

There are clips that are made to fit this screen, I have never personally used these clips, but it seems that you would need at least 6-8 to keep the screen completely secure and avoid a snake escape, which would cost more than the screen did! So, I went to the dollar tree, bought 2 packs of velcro, and stuck it on all sides of the tank. Using all of my strength, I couldn't get the screen lifted up without undoing the velcro so I am really confident that my little corn will not escape!

Overall, this is your best option to securing a loose-lid tank, and will guarantee your scaley friend will not escape if set up properly.

This is a well made screen that provides good ventilation. I would have appreciated them mentioning that clips are not included. I got it only to realize that I needed to order clips seperately (and pay more). If you're ordering this for a pet rodent, you know they're escape artists. I would have given it 5 stars had the clips been included. It wouldn't have cost the seller much more and would make for happier customers.

Zilla 09669 Malaysian Driftwood, Mediumvery fast shipping,product looks great in tank. make sure you cure this before you put in tank try boiling it first tag says just rinse off well but water turned orangey but wont hurt fish and it cleared up after a couple of small water changes if looking for a specific shape ask for pics of wood to be shipped

The product arrived in a rather large box that was STUFFED to the brim with packaging material (all inflatable bag packaging). That to me is a huge plus, esp. when shipping something delicate like this. The wood itself, after I uncovered it, was a little smaller than what I wasa expected, BUT only by a few inches.

The piece of wood is perfect by every means! The piece was very much an individual with its own look. It was layered with all sorts of small holes, nooks and crannies, indentions (yet no cracks! Very Solid Piece of Wood!!!!). This will look stunning in my Aquarium (that is, as soon as I'm done leeching it!) I will definatly be ordering Malaysian Driftwood from them again and I would highly recommened anyone to them.

Silent Air® X Series Aquarium Air Pumps, 2-Outlet, UL Listed

Silent-Air® X4 Air Pump, 2-Outlet - Up to 65 GallonsI use this air pump on a 112 gallon tank with Koi and Plecos, it provides enough air for a 5" air disc and a 12" long air-stone and after running for many months non-stop it's still pumping out a great amount of air, I was just expecting it to pump a little more than it does. However, that isn't stopping me from purchasing a second one for one of my other aquariums that has a noisy air pump, and a second for my large aquarium. I would definitely recommend these pumps, you'll barely know it's there. They do work best when placed above water level though so keep that in mind.

UPDATE 08-11-10

I bought two of these pumps and they have been running non-stop for over 2 years without fail. I would buy more of these in a heartbeat.

It works but it isn't silent. The sound it makes is a vibration rumble. It is the quietest air pump I've encountered. If the noise still bothers you run the air hose from a closet. If it still bothers you get some aquarium plants. I've never had a problem with them making too much noise.

Buy Silent Air® X Series Aquarium Air Pumps, 2-Outlet, UL Listed Now

I have had this pump running for about a year and find myself quite satisfied. The pump pumps air through an almost 48inch bubble wall hose and the other hook up currently just off gases as we don't need it at this time. Over all the pump is fairly quiet as long as it is balance properly. If the pump becomes unbalanced or leans against something it becomes quite loud as it vibrates quite a bit.

I have had this air pump for 6 months and it has been rock solid.

I keep this air pump inside a cabinet, so any noise is minimal. For the price, I found it to be more powerful and quiet than the air pumps I have purchased at my local stores (Tetra Whisper and Rena Air).

Even though it is rated for "aquariums up to 75 gallons," this pump outperformed a Tetra Whisper Air Pump rated for up to 100 gallons (and the Tetra broke after less than a year).

The 6 Watt power supply for this air pump is what you should use to compare it to other brands. The Rena Air 300 only comes with a 4 Watt power supply, even though both it and the Silent-Air® X5 are "rated" for tanks up to 75 gallons. The Tetra Whisper Air Pump for up to 100 gallon tanks only has a 4.8 Watt power supply.

Want Silent Air® X Series Aquarium Air Pumps, 2-Outlet, UL Listed Discount?

ALTHOUGH I AM JUST A SMIGGIN DISAPPOINTED OVER THE SOUND, OVERALL IT IS A GREAT AIR PUMP. IT STATES IN THE ABOUT SECTION THAT IT IS QUIET, BUT ITS NOT AS QUIET AS IT COULD BE. THE PREVIOUS AIR PUMP I HAD WAS QUIETER. MY TANK IS IN THE FAMILY ROOM WHERE WE HAVE THE TV LOCATED, AND SOMETIMES THE PUMP OVER RUNS THE TV DEPENDING ON VOLUME, BUT OVER ALL IT ISNT SO ANNOYING WHERE I HAVE HAD TO BUY A NEW ONE. I HAVE NOTICED THOUGH THAT THIS PUMP COMPARED TO MY LAST ONE REALLY ADDS MORE AIR VOLUMN INTO THE TANK (MEANING MORE BUBBLES)

Zilla 11893 24/7 Digital Timer Power Center, 1875-Watt

Zilla 11893 24/7 Digital Timer Power Center, 1875-WattI am using this on my reef tank for my lighting. As mentioned previously there are 2 day receptacles and 2 night receptacles. The timer alternates between the two ( one on ,one off). There are also 4 continuous power receptacles.I did not find the timer hard to program. There is a small replaceable battery in the back of the unit used for keeping the timer accurate if power is lost.

My only complain as with most power strips is that they allow only enough space between the receptacles for a common

plug and not a/c converters.

As to the one review about the timer not working. I had mine fail after about 3 weeks. However I simply called the

customer service number given on the instructions. They acknowledged that occasionally a unit has these problems and they sent me a whole new unit free of charge. No complaints here. The warranty is 12 months.

This timer sounds like a great idea, battery backup, controls daylights and nightlights on reef tank, great idea crappy product. This timer's battery backup dosent work, not sure if they sent it with dead watch style battery or what but it dosent work and it is screwing up timer itself. Had to completely remove battery to get timer to function. I have had it just over two weeks and had to reset this timer 5 times. Came back two days last week to a dark reef tank. Wouldnt buy this brand ever again.

I have used these timers for 6 years in practice and for my own pets.

They are wonderfully easy to set up and allow me to use multiple fixtures for lighting/uva and b/heating and night time viewing as well as water fixtures (fountains, misters, foggers)

This is even good for parrots and birds as it can be used to provide a mister only during the day and heating at night in cold climates or a night time viewing light.

AquaTop Aquarium Heater - 200W

AquaTop Aquarium Heater - 200WLesson learned: You get what you pay for. The Aqueon aquarium heaters work better (they were recommended to me) but it's almost twice the price on Amazon and even more at the pet store so I got this. I bought it the last week of June to treat ick in a tank. It was always about 3 degrees off but I dealt with it. I used it occasionally, I'd say I used this heater for a total of 15 days before it malfunctioned. I decided about a week ago to buy some tropical fish and I tried to get this to heat to a constant 77 degrees. Worked fine before bed, but I woke up the next morning to dead fish and a tank temperature of 86 to 88 degrees! It was HOT in there! I call the company and what do I hear?

"Maybe your thermometers are inaccurate." BOTH OF THEM?

"Is it hot outside your house?" Does it matter? The tank is INSIDE my house, and my room temperature is a steady 68 degrees. I live in the Arctic. No, it is not hot outside my house.

I don't know about you, but when I get asked stupid questions like that by people blaming everything but their product for a malfunction, I get kind of annoyed. I was promised a refund by the guy I called for support, then their returns department denied it because I've had the unit for almost 3 months. They said they do not issue refunds after 14 days, and if I want to use the warranty I have to pay to ship the item to them! For a $16 heater, that is not even worth my time or money paying to ship it back, let alone the cost of gas to drive to the post office! What kind of "customer service" is that? I'm sure they bet on people not bothering to pay return shipping for the warranty and instead buy a new one!

This heater was not accurate from the start. If it's going to kill my fish and I have to "re-calibrate it" (their suggestion) over and over again to get it to work temporarily, I am not going to use it and risk a repeat of fish casualties. I unplugged it, pulled it out of the water minutes later and it burnt my hand it was so hot. It smelled strongly of burnt rubber. Unsafe. Do not buy Aquatop!!! Spend a few bucks more on a quality product.

I purchased both the 100W and 200W heaters. Both had the same problems. It was not one defective heater ... it's a common problem!

Last time I am buying an Aquatop product of any kind!

That's it! Plain and simple. It says FULLY SUBMERSIBLE even on the sticker that was on the heater itself when I took it out of the box. Until you read the directions that say "Do Not Put Below Water Line"! Seriously? Ridiculous! Misleading they should have to rewrite their product description for false representation. I'm returning the item at my own inconvenience. I shop Amazon quite a bit, but this is total BS guys. Thanks.

Buy AquaTop Aquarium Heater - 200W Now

This heater's temp setting is as loose as a goose not accurate at all. Tested on an EMPTY (no fishies or plants thank goodness) aquarium that had a heater already in it. Temp was 74. We have 3 thermometers one digital, one float-about, and one glass sticky (which I don't depend on too much, but it gives me a quick reference). Anyway, we put the heater in and let it acclimate for 3 hours. We turned it up until it clicked on. You'd think we'd be around 74, right? WRONG! It was closer to 66. (Maybe it's because we're back on standard time?...just kidding!! It just made about that much sense.) Anyway, thinking maybe the response was just delayed, we turned it down again, and went much slower giving 5-10 seconds between adjustments. Still turned on at around 66.

But that isn't even the worst part. This is: We removed the old heater and watched the temp. The heater didn't click on until the temperature (measured by our thermometers) dropped to around 65, and it stayed on for what seemed to be forever until it reached 76 degrees!! I was just ready to unplug the thing when it finally clicked off. That is one mighty big swing, folks! I'm glad I was being methodical and patient about setting up this new tank, or my fish would have been seriously stressed.

If you care about your fish, and I'm sure you do or you wouldn't be looking for a heater, DO NOT get this one. Move on.

As a side note: Heater is advertised "fully submersible". When you first open the box, the cardboard insert has a sticker on it that says "fully submersible". However, when you read through the booklet, it says clearly to leave the top above the waterline. I found a YouTube video that says they don't recommend fully submersible use. Frustrated, I found Aquatop's email and wrote to them asking if it's fully submersible or not. They said yes. ...for what it's worth!

I set the heater to 80 it heated the water to 105 and was still "on". It's for use on a quarantine tank so it only killed a few new fish, and possibly the bacteria. I am getting a replacement, ONLY because of the limited use it will get. I would not trust running one on one on a show tank. I'll update the review after the second one has seen some use.....

Want AquaTop Aquarium Heater - 200W Discount?

This unit works as it describes and is good at it.

However......... when you take it out of the box there is a "Fully Submersible" sticker that you must take off before putting it in thr water. This is quite funny as it clearly states "Do not put below water line".

So this is NOT fully submersible. I called tech support which was friendly and fast and they said that while they do not really "recommend putting the dial portion of the heater below the water line" their engineers "say that this does work under water fine". So it sounds like it might or might not work, and does not have the confidence of tech support to be placed below water line. Also the top part is much thicker than the actual heater as you can clearly see, however this is a problem as the lip of most aquariums comes out just a bit, leaving you to have to place the suction cups way at the bottom of the heater to be able to grab any of the glass since the top part must be out of water.....

These bioballs, sold by uxcell, emit a noxious odor. It's strong enough to linger for hours even after I repacked the balls into the box it came in. If it leeches these VOCs into the air, then it will leech into the water your fish will swim in. I didn't want to risk poisoning my fish so I immediately returned it.

It's made by Xinyou Aquarium Product, item # XY-260.

Pennplax Red Bonsai Tree Aquarium Decor, 8-Inch

Pennplax Red Bonsai Tree Aquarium Decor, 8-InchBeautiful addition to a betta tank. He absolutely loves to sit on the leaves., and since it's made of silk, it won't damage his fins.

The product was as pictured. Some leaves were bent and sticking out in unnatural directions, but that was fixed with some coaxing (just gently push them where you want them and hold them there for a bit).

I found that the back of the pot and the base of the tree were rather ugly (in my opinion), so I put the ornament as deep into the sand as possible. Cuts down on the height but it looks great.

I liked the colorful leaves and the shape of the branches. The leaves are snap on, If you accidently brush against it, it falls off. It goes nicely in my minature japanese rock garden. I recomend it for anybody making a rock garden.
