DrTim's Aquatics First Defense Stress Relief & Immune Support for Saltwater Aquariums - 8 ounces

DrTim's Aquatics First Defense Stress Relief & Immune Support for Saltwater Aquariums - 8 ouncesI've had bad luck in the past with acclimating new fish to my reef aquarium, so I thought i'd try this product for my next batch of fish. Before I had purchased the product, I bought 10 Chromis, 9 died in 1 week. Second week I bought 8 more Chromis, adding this product to the acclimation process, and they have been surviving for over a month now. So I believe this product works just as described.

Tip * turn off your skimmer for a day, or else it'll be foaming like crazy!

U.P. Aqua Simple Regulator

U.P. Aqua Simple RegulatorJust received this in the mail today and set it up. Now I had to get the adapter bc this is for a paintball canister. This with the adapter makes a nice system so you can run CO2 to your planted aquarium tank. I tested it by placing into the water and there was zero leakage or bubbles which is perfect. Turned the regulator on and was able to control the amount of bubbles needed per second. Overall this is perfect if this is what your looking for. You can get this at its price and the adapter is 16.00 but in the long run will save you big time. Now I dont have to waste 14.00 every three weeks using liquid co2 for the tanks and my plants respond so much better. Plus, it only cost me 3.00 to refill my canisters for co2. thanks so much for thinking of us who dont want to spend crazy dollars for a regulator.

as someone else mentioned on their review, this thing is hard to adjust, it fluctuates after you set it, I've been trying for a few days, but every time after a few hours of setting it to the right flow, the flow rate changes or stops altogether.

This regulator would not keep a steady bubble count and I later learned that a 1 gauge regulator is actually dangerous.

A fine CO2 regulator for small and light weight draft beer systems when used with paint ball CO2 canister filled with medical/food grade CO2 gas. Industrial fillers do not always fill with medical/food grade gas, so always check and ask..

The valve could be a little tricky if not using with a bubble counter. Make sure you monitor the flow before leaving it. Flow might stop after a few minutes. Also you will need a paintball adapter if connecting to a paint ball canister.

U.P. Aqua Triangle Fish Net

U.P. Aqua Triangle Fish NetThis net is a bit on the smallish size... suitable for tetras and barbs, fish an inch or maybe two. I expected something a bit larger. On the positive side, it looks well made, the telesoping feature was very useful in my 70 gallon tank, and the triangular shape is good for snagging fish that hide in corners. For the price paid (about $10) I'm not dissapointed, but I wouldn't spend any more on this product.

Aquavista 500 Wall Mounted Aquarium with Rama Background

AquaVista 500 Wall-Mounted Aquarium, BlackI love this aquarium. I am a fish lover and have various tanks in my house. I saw this and thought this is definitely something differnt, not only in looks but in function. The set up was easy, just hang it on your wall and add water and fish. There is a control panel on the side that maintains all the components, filtration, airflow, etc. We have it in out foyer so people see it right when they come in. We've gotten so many positive comments and even our friends have purchased a couple!!

I ordered the tank with the silver frame to match our stainless equipment in our kitchen and it looks great! I actually received the aquarium the next day! Set up was a little bit of a challenge as the depth is only 3 3/8" inches on the inside on the tank and I put a couple of plants and a piece of driftwood ( found me a few pieces of African driftwood with a depth of less than 3 3/8", terrific selection and excellent prices too). I originally put substrate (for shrimp) over a mesh covering the semi open bottom and the aquarium was overtaxed and became violently ill. I remedied the problem by slowly taking everything out and replacing the substrate with gravel and it works great now. The tank is very well designed and thought out and it comes with a net, cleaner pad on a pole, gravel (white), a mechanically manipulated mini grabber and everything you need except fish. Well written instruction manual with company phone number and a problem section which got me through the subsrtate problem. It's only been up for two days so I'll write an addendum if there are any problems. Jody Koval

I actually bought three of them to put up in the office and so far, it's been a hit. It definitely looks amazing, but I was a bit confused by the filtering and cycling, so lost some fish in the first go around. Spoke to customer service and learned that I need to cycle the tank and only add 1-2 fish per month. The temperature does seem to rise warmer than what I would like it to be, but spoke to the company and they explained that it is a heater, not a chiller. So far, the fish seem to be doing great, and people love how they look. I may order a custom background from the company and put our company logo in there.

Blue Ribbon Pet Products ABLEE118 Forgotten Ruin Mini No.118 Ornaments for AquariumGood quality, it is beautiful, but it is a bit small than I expected, I like the ruin, it's ok!!!

I LOVE THIS. It is the perfect size for my African dwarf frogs. They love it too. They have been in there all day. I ordered this and it came 5 days later. I loved the shipping speed. I wouldn't recommend this for aquariums that are over 15 gallons. I also wouldn't recommend this to people who have big fish, unless it's only for decoration. It is a very good product though. Me and my frogs love them.

The castles are slightly yellower than they consistently appear in photos online. They are working pretty well, however.

The company's service was excellent when it came to the castles, which showed up quickly and I got what I ordered. I recommend the castles but must rate the company a C+.

However, I ordered a blue critter keeper from a lot of 10 or 20 blue critter keepers from the same company but on e-bay, and they sent me a bright orange critter keeper, and when I complained they asked them to send another blue critter keeper but the CR person checked it, and they had sent a different color. They said that despite advertising a lot of blue critter keepers they in fact had no blue ones. She refunded my money, but the only other thing she did to fix it was say they were changing the wording of their ads.

However, they do seem to have upgraded their customer service from the complaints I've gotten that products showed up late or not at all and they couldn't get a response. I did find customer service prompt and attentive.

Fish Mate 3000PUV Pressurized UV+Bio Pond Filter

Fish Mate 3000PUV Pressurized UV+Bio Pond FilterIt took me about 6 months to actually get around to installing this in our pond, mostly because I was redoing the waterfall but I'm also quite lazy.

Previously I had tried using a 200 gallon gravity filter, media filtration, and a skimmer/pump combo. In all cases there was little improvement on algae blossoms, mosquito larvae, and water quality. After talking to a local shop, I sought out this specific filter because they had a lot of success with a showcase koi pond located behind the store.

After reading the relatively detailed instructions and following the advice of pond enthusiasts, installation took about 4 hours due to the rocky soil (it doesn't have to be in the soil but can sit flush). Since filtration efforts had been miserable failures prior to this, my hopes were high but my expectations sat far lower, so I plugged it in and went about my business.

Two weeks to the day, my pond is clear enough to make out fine details along the bottom; including areas where green frogs have burrowed into the muck. Not only is the pond clear enough to make out fine details, I finally discovered where a slow leak was coming from (liner is sinking). As a final reward, of sorts anyway, there was also a revelation in finding two long forgotten lawn ornaments, a bunch of toys tossed in long ago by my daughter or her friends, and the skeletal remains of a cat.

I will have to wait until spring and summer to see how well the UV works on controlling algae at peak levels of sunshine and mosquito larvae but with the rapid development of clarity I am feeling confident that we'll be able to maintain good water quality. Highly recommend this filter!

This device does keep the water clean. However, it is made of cheap, brittle plastic that is prone to failure. In one year, I've had three different "Tanks" which have all failed in various ways (a crack, another crack, and a complete 0-ring seal surface failure). The clean-out valve has also failed, resulting in most of the pond water being pumped out. The manufacturer has so far replaced the parts, but their customer support staff treats you like a criminal when you call, implying that you have done something wrong with the product. What is there to do wrong? It is backwashed every week. The pump can not supply enough pressure to exceed the rating of the device.

Look, a person can go broke by owning a pond with all the chemicals and media filtration and more chemicals. All the pond places recommend these expensive "mercedes benz" units (that cost $1000 more than this fishmate) to do the job of this fishmate. I have learned to get the advice of other water gardeners on Daves Garden and quite a few of them were already using this and highly recommended it! Some of these people owned other units prior that cost A LOT more but weren't as easy to clean.

I bought this Fishmate because I was having a lot of health problems with my koi. I have an extensive waterfall filtration system and a turnover rate in my 2000 gallon pond of 2.5 times an hour yet my fish were always sick with something or another. I was also struggling with suspended algae. The UV light cleared the water within 24 hours. My pond wasn't as dirty as the other reviewer with the toys and dead cat in his pond... (?) but it wasn't crystal clear like it is now. Also, I am happy to say the fish are healthier!!!

It took me about 35 minutes to assemble it. That is only because I had to measure tubes and trim them and read the instructions. It really was a no brainer! If I had to set one up now after doing the first it would probably take me 10 minutes.

Another great tip I recvd from other water gardeners is to dig a hole in the ground and fit it with a large enough bucket or similar walled container with the bottom cut out. Place the Fishmate into the hole and landscape. I used a bucket and it works great! The reason for the bucket is to keep the walls of the ground from caving in on the canister. You can drain the muck our right into this bottomless muck pit.

BTW: I bought my Fishmate 3 months ago. Buy all the hoses and clips all at the same time and you can get it up and running ASAP.

Forget the chemicals. I could have purchased two of these units with the money I spent on algae kill in the last three years. My water (2500 gallons) is crystal clear even in the hot summer with full sun and several fish. Even the smell of dead, rotting algae is gone. The unit was easy to install and there have not been any leaks or problems. Even my fish are happier. I don't think they ever liked those chemicals. After adding chemicals they wouldn't eat for several days.

We have had one of these filters for about 6 yrs now. Our first one died last year and we were waiting till spring to replace it. We waited just a few weeks too long before we had a full algae bloom. I ordered the filter on Thursday and when we came home from work on Friday, our pond looked like green pea soup. The filter came on Saturday and I was afraid that the algae had already gotten out of control and it would take weeks to get the water clean again. We installed the filter late Saturday afternoon and when we got up Sunday morning there was such a big improvement already. Within 24 hrs the water is almost crystal clear and the fish seem happy that no chemicals were used. I highly recommend this product.

Como Aquarium Fish Tank Fry Net Breeder Breeding Hatchery

Como Aquarium Fish Tank Fry Net Breeder Breeding HatcheryIt has saved the lives of hundred of little baby guppies, Now I don't know what to do with all of them.

This is a simple pop-in-place design, like some others out there. I like the fact that the net has a breathable mesh to ensure a good water flow. Unfortunately the holes are too big to keep baby shrimp and they could crawl right through. Newborn fish, i.e. Platys, would not be able to swim through the net and would be safe to grow in this breeder.

Love my Chi tank. The filters work fine, especially with the waterfall topper over the filter block. I was getting cloudiness with stones in the tray, discovered that the water was aerating too much. It cleared up with the topper. I may be able to get the filters a few pennies cheaper elsewhere but a great item to add when I need to get up to $25 for free shipping or with my other filters. Nature's Pure Glass Aquarium Sphere 12' Dia x 10' Height, 2.75 Gallons.I ordered this glass bowl to make a terrarium I would be giving as a thank you gift. It is a beautiful, solid glass bowl. I am very pleased with the purchase and am buying another today.

I bought this goldfish bowl for my 3 year old daughter because I wasn't ready to do the whole acquarium scene. All I could find everywhere else was the most 2 gallon. This size gives a couple of goldfish some good room to swim.

It's visually a nice decor bowl. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because due to the nature of hand blown glass it becomes very thin at the top of the bowl. Plus $40 is a little extreme I believe.

Rio Plus 600 PT Venturi Water Pump for Aquarium

Rio Plus 600 PT Venturi Water Pump for AquariumLet me first say that I'm using this pump to begin the cleaning process for a very dirty 75 gal tank that has been sitting around for a long while so it has only been running for a week or so.

That being said, it works great! The tank is about 3' tall and pumping it up that height reduces the output to around 65 gph so it won't be my main pump and it will most likely be part of a power head or in the sump/skimmer. However its small size makes it great for any of these applications and with its adjustable directional venturi intake and suction cups it will fit almost anywhere.

Rio has always made quality products and for the price I got it for its well worth it.

This pump works great for my cpr hob skimmer which I used this pump to replace an old one. 5 stars

Coralife 08616 Desert T8 Light Fixture, 24-Inch

Coralife 08616 Desert T8 Light Fixture, 24-InchJust FYI This fixture is slightly under 24" in length and comes with a 18" bulb. If you're looking for a fixture for a 24" bulb, this isn't it. Also, this is made to sit on top of a screen/mesh tank cover rather than be mounted directly. It has a standard 2-prong plug and a basic on/off switch on the main unit (not on the cord).

Works well enough, but due to the lack of info in the description, it's not what I had intended to order.

Lights up my tank way better then with just a dome. My beardie loves it. The better setting seems to have perked him up a bit more.

I have recently been searching high and low for the items to help my son build his first reptile enclosure. We have been to all the major pet stores and a few local reptile shops as well. Overall this is an excellent beginner set up. Pet Smart had the same light for $39.99 and then the bulb was an additional $24.99 +tax...We purchased this item from Amazon and/or its affiliate. Even though this is one of the rare items that you need to pay for shipping...shipping was $5.99....less than the tax if I had bought the item in the store! Overall I paid about 60% of retail for this item and it was packaged nicely and arrived very quickly. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Fluval Spec V Aquarium Kit, 5-Gallon

Fluval Spec V Aquarium Kit, 5-Gallon, BlackGreat tank for an office or bedroom. Looks very stylish and the filtration system is silent and discreet. There's even a place to hide a water heater. The only thing that needs improvement is the included light. Don't get me wrong, it illuminates the tank evenly and adequately, but the way it's mounted causes the thing to sag on one end and it's not bright enough to grow most plants. Because of this I replaced the included lamp with a Finnex Ray 2 and it fits the tank perfectly!

I didn't get this tank through Amazon, but the reviews on this site gave me the insight to make the purchase anyway, so I thought I should give back to the great customers who educated me.

I give this tank a 5 star rating, even considering the strong filter pump. The pump can be adjusted to a setting that is quite manageable when you adjust the swivel output nozzle to point towards the bottom and against the glass. There are quiet spots in the water, even in this 5.5 gallon aquarium, that my Half Moon Betta can hover in and look very peaceful. Plus, I put in a large piece of hollow driftwood to give my Betta a place to escape if need be. Actually, he seems to enjoy the water output (which is 1" from the top of the water line) as he often swims directly up into the stream all the way to the top of the tank. He'll do this three or four times, then pull over and rest. I imagine he's getting some fishy exercise. Reminds me of a dog hanging his head out the window of a moving car. In still water, Bettas tend to be calm swimmers, but this tank provides just enough room and water circulation to keep my Betta quite active. And he's not being pushed around, he's patrolling the tank like the Type A personality that Siamese Fighting Fish are know to be.

The construction is clear glass. I have 5 small live plants, a moss ball, smooth gravel and the driftwood. The underwater pump is the quietest I have ever had, and I've been maintaining aquariums for over 20 years. It's on my desk and I sit about 2 feet away. I hear the air conditioning, the refrigerator and conversations outdoors before I can hear this pump. Perfect for an office environment.

The filtration is biological and physical with the water running through a corse sponge, a small bag of charcoal and a bag of porous coral pellets. The pump is amazing. At full speed it could easily keep a salt water reef healthy. But by reducing the outflow and adjusting the nozzle, the surface of the water is so calm that my Betta can easily grab some air wherever he is in the tank. Remember to adjust the pump's output BEFORE you put it in the tank, because it sits on the bottom and you'll need a long stick or the handle of your net to push it down.

The LED light is pretty, but not strong enough for the plants I have, so I have the tank near a window to pick up some indirect sunlight throughout the day, and some direct sunshine for a few minutes in the early AM. Once my tank is biologically stable, I plan to add an African Dwarf frog and a couple of Rainbow Tetras. That's close to being overstocked, so I will probably have to do a 20% to 25% water change each week. We'll see how the water tests out.

To recap, this is perfect Betta tank with lots of room for his highness to roam and a little more space for some tank companions (especially when you consider the strength of the filtration system). But, from a name like Fluval, it had to be great, right?

Buy Fluval Spec V Aquarium Kit, 5-Gallon Now

I actually have this tank in Black, not that the color makes a difference in how it all works, which is very well indeed.

The sponge filter medium is HUGE for the size of the tank, and has two good-sized cutouts to hold the bio-beads and any other medium you might want to put in the filter. I added a second bag of bio-beads as this tank was replacing a "standard" 5 gallon that had a betta and a couple oto cats in it. By using the bio-beads from the existing tank's filter I had no concerns about cycling the tank before moving my fish into it.

The filter pump is surprisingly powerful for its small size, even on the lowest setting, so much so that I had to make a spray bar return for it to reduce the force of the water coming back from the filter. My betta was getting "blown" around the tank because the current was so strong, and it made us both unhappy. With the home-made spray bar my betta was much more comfortable.

Because the center of the lid is open (so it doesn't block any of the light from the LEDs) the tank is prone to evaporation loss more than it otherwise would be. As I do weekly water changes this isn't much of an issue, and it is common with open-topped tanks anyway. But I wanted others to know that it is something to deal with if that matters to you.

The light works well and my live plants are growing nicely with it. The screw that holds the light bar in place is only plastic, and seems to have stripped the threads even with careful handing, so I will probably have to replace it with a metal screw so the light bar is more secure. I have the light on a timer, so the 2-way switch for white vs. blue LEDs is not an issue to me, but if you don't use a timer on the light you'll have to manually switch from white daytime to blue nighttime lighting.

Everyone who's seen the tank comments on how good it looks! I'm very glad I bought it even with having to make the minor modification of the filter return. For fish that like a strong current or a nano marine tank the powerful filter pump would be ideal.

The all in one design and stylish look are what made me notice this tank. I had fish when I was young, and its a hobby I have been out of for many years. I bought the smaller version of this as a gift for a friend (2 gallon), putting a betta and 2 dwarf frogs in it along with some decorations. After seeing how nice the small desktop version looked and functioned I was hooked and decided to get one for myself. I went with a slightly larger version since not being kept at the office, but fits really nicely on a desktop and adds life to the room. Definitely think this would make a great "first" tank for a child or novice.

One small problem was that the original item had a leak (Pinhole leak at the front bottom right corner). Amazon and Petco were very accommodating and I could return/exchange at the store. Replacement tank had an issue with the blue LED and Petco manager allowed me to exchange just the light without having to take down the entire tank. I am appreciative of receiving reasonable customer service and would say that despite my challenges Petco really made an impression by making the exchange process as painless as possible.

My own Betta seems thrilled to have so much space to swim. 1" of fish per gallon is always the recommended max capacity for an aquarium, so I may add a few ADF's and couple ghost shrimp or a snail to clean up as I have a bad habit of over-feeding. I would very much recommend adding a 25 watt heater as it fits nicely in the filter compartment and most fish will be more active if they are kept at tropical temperatures of 72-80 degrees. Additionally, the filter output is very strong so if you have fish (like a Betta) that prefer still water remember to set the air pump at its lowest setting.

Overall: If not for the 2 minor manufacturing defects (Not the fault of Petco or Amazon) this would get 5 stars not 4. For a solid glass aquarium the Fluval Spec V makes it easy to enjoy having a tank with minimal maintenance or knowledge required. I expect to enjoy this for years to come.

Want Fluval Spec V Aquarium Kit, 5-Gallon Discount?

I like this tank. A lot. The dimensions are interesting and attractive, without being impractical. It's an expensive 5 gallon tank, but a standard 5 1/2 with a glass canopy, filter, and LED light wouldn't be all that much cheaper to put together. The hidden pump and sponge filter block are a big plus, as is the ability to hide a heater in the same compartment. The plastic lid is fine, a bit more trouble than a hinged canopy but nothing major. The narrow footprint makes it possible to situate in places a tank this size wouldn't normally fit. If it's a close call however take note, the tank is indeed less than 7 inches wide (the stated measurement) but the plastic frame around the bottom is almost 7 1/2 inches, so it needs to sit on something wide enough to support the frame.

I like sponge filters and simply toss out the carbon and redundant ceramic rings. Neither is necessary. I do slice the filter block about one third of the way down so I can remove and rinse the top part of debris without always pulling the entire thing out. A little 8 watt "Betta" type always on heater has been more than sufficient right now, in the winter I'll use a thermostatic type. I haven't needed to buffer the filter as I do with the 2 gallon Specs, the extra space makes it quiet enough for short finned plakat and giant bettas. For heavily finned Bettas, a piece of sponge over the duckbill exhaust nozzle works perfectly.

The light is just bright enough for low light plants, the blue LEDS are pretty, but even for "moon" light, a bit dim. In a lot of pictures I see the light fixture seems to sag, if the screw is tightened it seems to stay perfectly straight for me.

I really like this style of tank by Fluval, I hope they expand the line with more sizes.

Coralife 05376 Aqualight Dual Power Compact Flourescent Lighting Fixture

Coralife 05376 Aqualight Dual Power Compact Flourescent Lighting Fixturefirst off, there is a Freshwater version which includes 2 6500k bulbs vs the marine model that comes with the actinic the previous reviewer didn't sniff around!

i have a FW planted tank, the coverage is good, the lights are bright (not sure of the quality) and easy to set up.

cons:

1. only 1 plug for both lights. not a big deal, but if you have an algae problem, sometimes lessening wattage can help but turning off bulb. there are switches though, so i guess that would work.

2. No fan switches. the fans are mildly loud brand new, and i guarantee you after a couple of months they will start howling.

3. end caps are NOT water proof, or even water-resistant for that matter. really strange to not include this feature. sure it comes with a replaceable acrylic cover, but to think its not in a humid environment is ignorant. no way would i put this on a marine tank.

Received the light in good shape, but wish that amazon had recommended that I purchase the optional legs ($8) to be able to mount it on top of my 46 gal bowfront tank. Also realized that it should have clearly stated that this lighting configuration is for saltwater aquariums, NOT freshwater. Good general design, although I'm not sure why the fan is only connected to one of the two light switches?? Doesn't seem to be a problem so far... we'll see whether the bulb life is impacted. Had it for a bit more than 2 months with no problems, other than needing to swap out the actinic bulb for a 55 watt daylight (6700 K) bulb. Plants none the worse for the experience, but the algae got a bit out of control as a result. (Hint: both 55 watt and 65 watt straight 4 pin bulbs will work in this fixture.) It can be used for freshwater, but you need to change the bulb that's included.

Zoo Med Reptile Fogger Terrarium Humidifier

Zoo Med Reptile Fogger Terrarium HumidifierI bought this model to humidify my 20 gallon tank, and I only kept it on as long as it had to be on to keep the tank at 75% humidity (I built an automated system for it so that it would turn on and off accordingly). After only a couple of months of owning it, the fan on the inside of the system broke. I couldn't return it because I stupidly threw out the receipt after buying it. So I decided to buy a new fan and fix it myself and after replacing the fan, the rest of the system stopped working. So I just decided to give up and try my chances on another one. So I bought the same model and set it up with the same automated system to the same tank and sure enough, a couple months later the inner fan stopped working. This product is horrible and I've heard many others say the same. Don't get conned by this company.

Makes alot of fog quickly and for extended periods of time. Will humidifiy your reptile cage. Be sure to mount hose so that it puts fog into the cage from above, not from a side wall as water will collect in the tube and drip. I you mount it with the hose pointing down into the cage any drips will fall back into the machine instead of the cage. Use distilled water to keep it running in god condition and avoid mineral build up which will cause it to stop working. Good product.

I have been recommending this product to everyone, as it works wonderful... until it stopped working! It has to work hard to keep a 40 gallon tank humid, so it is on for about 3/4 of the day. I checked the manual to troubleshoot, and read the following:

"Operating the fogger in the "On" mode for 24 hours per day will REDUCE the life span of the fogger."

Apparently, so will operating it for the majority of the day. I would say I have had this for two months, working perfectly, then it just stopped working. I am going to try and return it to the manufacturer, and perhaps try another unit, but until I try another unit, I can not know if this is a defective unit or if it stops working under heavy use in just two months normaly. So, I can't recommend this product anymore.

A great solution for a chameleon. Also replaces a drip system if you position it on top, as H2O accumulates on the mesh and drips too.

Some tips:

1. You can use a 2 liter bottle instead of the one provided. It will compress inwardly as vacuum is created. That is normal: DO NOT poke a hole in it to prevent this: it will dump all the water right away. Quite a mess.

2. Mare sure to keep the tube as vertical or arch-like as possible: water accumulates in it and prevents the fog flow if you keep it lateral.

3. Do have something (like a potted plant) to catch the moisture/water in the enclosure. Or things will get the wet very fast. It is a good idea to have two and rotated them one in the terrarium, one drying somewhere.

I'm on my 5th one of these in just a few weeks...I'm not sure why they keep breaking, but they are crap! I've used bottled water in all 5 along with a timer so they aren't running 24/7 (manual advises "Continuous use will drastically reduce the life span of the humidifer"). My timer has it come on for 30 minutes every 2 hours...not very much use...especially since they have broken within a week or 2 of getting. My 5th one has been running for about 4 weeks now, but it makes this horrible fan noise when it comes on now...I suspect it is about to die and then I'm done...these cost way too much to break in as short of a time period. I think I'm gonna use some of the parts from it and my other ultrasonic humidifier (because that is all this is) and rig one of my own. My humidifier I have had in my bedroom has been working for almost 5 years now and has just about the same design as this one minus the tubing. No reason for these to fail as much as they do...stay away if you mind paying about $60 for 2 weeks of use. And what were they thinking when they designed the tube? There is no way to mount it to the top of your tank (or even the side if you please, but that leads to left over water standing in the tube and can mold). The tube is just that, a tube...with nothing on the end. I took a plastic bowl my kids eat cereal out of and drilled a hole in the middle of it slightly smaller than the tube and shoved the tube inside the hole just a bit. Made the hole slightly smaller so it would hold onto the tube to prevent it from sliding out. This gives it a "hood-like" appearance and sits perfectly on top of my frogs cage. I uploaded a pic for all to see...not the greatest rigging, but works for me!

******UPDATE******

I am about 8 weeks into using my 5th one and it is surprisingly still working. The horrible fan noise that started at about 4 weeks of use is getting louder and lasting longer (it used to only make the noise for the first few seconds when it came on)...now it seems to make the noise the whole 30 minutes that I have it running every 2.5 hours. I did have it coming on every 2 hours, but upped it to 2.5 hours hoping to extend it's lifespan. We shall see how long it lasts....

*****FINAL UPDATE*****

I am sooooo done with this thing! The 5th one lasted 3 months and then quit working. The fan still works, the light comes on, but it doesn't do it's ultrasonic thing anymore, meaning no fog output. In the trash it went! I am back to misting my frog throughout the day. I decreased my star rating from 2 stars to 1 star...a $50 item should last longer than this...and it is a widespread problem, not just me. I'm considering buying another ultrasonice humidifier like the one I use in my bedroom (have had for a couple of years) and rigging it to work like this (with the hose).
