I've had bad luck in the past with acclimating new fish to my reef aquarium, so I thought i'd try this product for my next batch of fish. Before I had purchased the product, I bought 10 Chromis, 9 died in 1 week. Second week I bought 8 more Chromis, adding this product to the acclimation process, and they have been surviving for over a month now. So I believe this product works just as described.

Second time I've gotten a defective 10,000 K lamp from amazon. And second time I am going through the return process. Last year when the lamps were needing replacement, in my Biocube 29g, I ordered the normal 36 watt 10000K and 36 watt actinic lamps. The 10000 k lamp I received for some reason had the same hue as the actinic lamp and was still labeled 10000k on the lamp! (which had to of been a manufacture defect)I returned the lamp.

Nice and small for its purpose. the lighting options is a nice touch. The tank did not come with the rubber air hose, had to bum off another aquarium. It works though.
I purchased two of these TLF reactors so that I could run them in series. I decided to run D-Nitrate in One and Activated Carbon in the other to try and bring the Nitrate/Nitrite numbers down in my 75 gallon ref. To early to tell yet whether these two have actually reduced my numbers, but there is no doubt that the water in the tank is now more crystal clear than before. Is it the carbon in the reactor along with less feeding that is clearing up the water cloumn, or is it just the fact that the Reef is now more mature than it was before this installation? Only time will tell how effective these are in reducing the Nitrate level in the reef. As for hooking them up in series, they do require some minor engineering and plumbing alterations, but if you are adpt at working with a refugium, and a somewhat sophisticated sump, this should be a piece of cake. I say should because I have a great plumbing supply house nearby, with a great salesman who will stop at nothing to keep the number of pieces in play to get this running at a minimum. If you only have a Lowes or Home Depot nearby, or a good hardware store, you can generally find the necessary items there to accomplish the task. I would have rated these a 5 "Star" item had I found the inclusion of the necessary plumbing parts included in the original packaging. As far as bang for the buck is concerned, these certainly meet that criteria and i would highly reccommend them to other mixed reef keepers looking to inexpensively add Phosphate or nitrate reactors to their systems.

Just like other reviews say, it does exactly what it says it does in a durable fahion. Evenly pass water through your phosphate media to get rid of of phosphates and ultimately control algae. Very happy with mine. The cost of buying 3 of these is the same as one of the more High class reactors. This comes with everything you need except for the pump.
I bought this to seal a waterfall that I had rebuilt. It was applied over concrete and had I used pond sealing foam to fill in some of the cracks. It goes on dark brown, but dries black.

We bought this tank for my daughter's third birthday. All was fine, until the fish started getting caught in the mermaid decoration. We've lost 2 fish now (and have taken the decoration out of the tank), because they died getting caught in there. It's a nice tank, filter works great, it's a good size for a child, but beware the death trap! We've since put other decorations into the tank that do not pose an entanglement risk.
It's well made a repro of the Aztec torture disk platforms. The rendering is okay, but the piece is a very bland cream-white color that doesn't do much for the tank. Not much of an accent to the decor.
The bag used to collect tank gunk doesn't hold the finest materials, resulting in extremely cloudy water. I had to clean it by siphon after attempting to clean with the Battery Vac. Also, it's difficult to start. You have to slightly unscrew the battery chamber for the metal contacts to start the motor. Siphoning is far better and safer for the fish.

I do not use gravel in my tank, I use rocks and shells. This did a good job of sucking up debris and capturing it in the bag to reduce the amount of rotting material in the tank. I have used these before, years ago, on smaller tanks. Doesn't reach bottom of 50 gal tank to well, had to extend tube. But, worked just like I remembered, just fine.

This was completely ideal for me. It raised the temperature of the tank (10 gal w/guppies and corys) about five degrees from air temp, so I would often just run it overnight and unplug it during the day, depending upon my needs. I would definitely buy this product again! My only regret is that it can be a rather bulky thing, and doesn't sit entirely flush against the aquarium wall, so it is a little tricky to place appropriately. You get what you pay for, and it does the job. Note that this is the maximum size of tank recommended for this product! If you have any complicated needs, such as a larger tank, higher temperature, auto shut-off, range control, sensitive fish, ect. then this is not the product for you!

I used this product to raise the water temperature in a 5 gallon tank. It worked for about 2 or 3 weeks raising my water temperature by about 5 degrees while it worked and then died. After purchasing this heater I found out it has NO THERMOSTAT (local fish store misinformed me). If your room temperature varies, so will your aquarium temperature! Not good for most fish. The instructions say to unplug heater whenever room temp is 75 farenheit or above (how convenient). The packaging says: "No damage if left running dry", yet the instructions clearly state "Check that the heater never works dry..." Using this works best on the 6 gallon fruval edge. 77 degrees lights off and 80.2 with the lights on! No problems under the gravel so far! I had a tetra 10/30 that ran a little warm with the lights on @ 82 degrees so I tried this one. I paid $24 in a store.
It worked perfectly and the pH level was right on. The Cichlids love it and it looks great in the aquarium. Two bags were about the right size for a 75G but it wouldn't hurt to have a total of 3-4 bags.
I have very hard water in my area, so this works great to condition the water. Just make sure you don't use too much.

This is good stuff.
I have one of these on all of my aquariums and they all work well. However, beware that they do not under any circumstances give an accurate temperature reading for the tank. I use them as a quick glance guide to make sure that the heaters are working to keep the water temp. in a certain range [since all my heaters are hidden from view behind plants]. Generally, these are off by +/3-5 degrees depending on the temperature differential between the ambient room temp. and that of the aquarium water itself. They seem to be most off when the room is cooler than what the aquarium water temp. should be. So, if you have a very sensitive system which must be maintained at a certain temp. [such as reef aquariums], do yourself the favor and don't rely on this to give you an accurate reading of the water temp. The best tool for this task is an in-aquarium thermometer.

I agree with other reviewers that the temps this thermometer gives are not anywhere close to accurate, and they range from +/3 degrees from the actual water temperature. In addition, the spread of the temperature gauge is waaaay too much. Don't make the same mistake i did, enlarge the picture and look closely. The gauge goes from 64 degrees to 68 to 72 (etc, etc). What aquariast only wants to know the temp of their tank to within 4 degrees? Couple that with the margain of error of the thermometer and you're looking at a reading that is potentially 7 degrees different then the actual temp of the tank, which is more than enough to kill most fish. Not as good as shown in the picture, the numbers are barely readable so as colors. I don't recommend this one, get ATI Aquarium Thermometer it's much better.
This vacuum really works well. It does not suck all the rocks out which used to drive me nuts with my old vacuum. The only "con" if you will is that it is very large so it can be hard to manipulate around the plants and drift wood in tight spaces. And beware: vacuum FAST because it will suck your tank down quick!

These filters are what I need for my biOrb aquarium. They last quite awhile and keep my aquarium looking clean and clear.
I'm happy with the look of this item -it's sufficiently realistic for my tastes. However, I was alarmed by the number of sharp edges and spike-like casting spurs. All of the openings had edges sharp enough, I believe, to injure fish. I therefore felt obliged to use a Dremel tool to grind out the sharp edges and spurs (inside the decoration), before installing it.
