Hydor Centrifical Pump 100 All-Purpose Pump for Aquariums and Terrariums 100 GPH - Original Pico Evolution 400It's hard to tell when this is on "high." The first time I used it, it was ok considering what I spent. I tried to use it today thou, the motor is making noise, but no water is moving. NEXT

Really Small pump, I was shocked. It does work well, and still has the same flow volume after one month of use. Use 1/2 " OD connections

I upgraded my Fluval Spec 3 pump with this one. It fits perfect and it is putting a great current through my tank.

100 GPH for my 2.8 gallon tank is awesome.....Fluval should put this in, instead of the cheap one they put in.

If being made in Italy is supposed to make this product better than it doesn't.

I bought 2 of these because they're cheap and low flo for a small refugium and other project.

One arrived non functioning, it spins but no water movement which is very odd.

The second one is working but every now and then the pump makes some loud noise like air is stuck in it but there's no venturi. It was cleaned recently due to the noise but didn't fix it.

Their pumps are pretty mediocre, overpriced, and fragile.

I'd bought these and larger Hydor pumps due to a sale and I'd figure I try this brand.

I will go back to Marineland MJ pumps that I had no issues with.

Aqueon AQE36007 Biocube Ultraviolet Algae Sterilizer for Aquarium, Mini

Aqueon AQE36007 Biocube Ultraviolet Algae Sterilizer for Aquarium, MiniThis product is a nice sterilizer and can be used in a wide variety of applications, even though it was designed for BioCubes specifically. If you're interested in this product then I would recommend you buy it; there is no reason I can find not to.

I am using this UV Sterilizer in an older model BioCube 14 Gal. I had one of the previous models of this unit and they work very well. The older unit had the indicater window on the top of the unit and it was small. You had to open the top of the BioCube to check if the UV light was working. The newer model has a larger window on the side of the unit, large enough that I can peak through the water line window on the side of the BioCube and actuly see the glow from the window showing that the bulb was in good working order.

I ordered a new one, not because the first unit had stopped working but because the 90 degree angle plastic that connects the unit to the discharge port cracked and it was only an extra 20 to get a new unit after the bulb blew. I only gave the unit four stars because of that angle peice didn't have an improved plastic material or better fit so I am hoping it wont crack agian.

I put this in my Biocube 14. Every time I do a water quality check, it's perfect. I have a friend who has the same thing. His bulb went out within the first month for some reason (I think it was operator error). He called the company, and without any issue, they sent him a whole new replacement unit...not just a bulb. Very impressive.

This is a great compact effective sterilizer for nano cubes up to 29 gallons. It's crafted specifically for Oceanic/Coralife Biocubes, but includes a universal adapter for other nano cubes. If you have a Biocube, this will hook up to existing pump. If you don't have Biocube, then you need to have a pump. Recommend Cobalt Aquatics MJ1200 which is original Maxijet still built in Italy. Works great and has kept my saltwater crystal clear. The biggest mistake that many people make is to run cheaper sterilizers on 24/7 basis. This will only result in burning out bulbs quickly, but you don't really need round the clock sterilization. I run mine for only 24hrs weekly and is effective. The more expensive high-end sterilizers ($200) have better build quality and can handle being run 24/7. Keep this mind when using any inexpensive sterilizers and you'll be alright. Keep an extra bulb on hand too.

Colormax T8 Lamp

Aqueon Aqueon 00451 24-Inch Colormax T8 Fluorescent Lamp, 17-WattGot this light and it never work. I even bought a new light thinking it was the issue and the light bulb still didn't work. Ended up getting another bulb. Not worth sending back but lesson learned!

After installing my new aquarium light, it lasted a whole 3 days. Installed on Wednesday night, as I walked by my aquarium Sunday morning, I noticed that the light wasn't on. (I have my lights on timers.) I lifted the hood and the light was very hot, and smelled hot as well. It may have just been a faulty light, but my experience wasn't good.

I would NEVER purchase this product again. My original purchase was for four lights, upon arriving I placed a bulb on my aquarium and it did not work. So I checked all the lights to be sure. Two of the four lights worked, so I sent the two lights back. One of the other lights burn out in less then one week. Such a lousy product. Very disappointed.

Fish & Aquatic Supplies 1Gal 2 Way Tall Betta Tank Black 8X4x8 W/Glass Canopy &Amp; Dividers

Fish & Aquatic Supplies 1Gal 2 Way Tall Betta Tank Black 8X4x8 W/Glass Canopy &Amp; DividersWe love this little glass tank which is roughly 8" x 5" x 8". It sits on our kitchen table, and is definately a conversation piece. The divider is glass and is removable. We do not utilize the divider, and simply have one fish in the tank. We decided to add a filter to make a better environment for the fish, and to aid with the cleaning process. We are using the Elite Mini filter, but the Tetra Whisper is another option for this little tank. Both filters have suction cups to hold them in place. The Elite Mini filter that we are using is adjustable so we can control the amount of current. We originally had the Mini Bow 1 tank/filter and the current was too strong for our fish. Our betta is much happier in this tank. We also added a Betta Stik made by Deep Blue to maintain the proper temperature. The cover is glass as well and typically sits flush. Since we have added the filter and heater, our cover rests propped up a little due to the tubes and cords. With the setup we are using, the cover collects some water from condensation, but it does not seep over the edges of the tank. The cover is removable as well if you decided to keep the tank without it on. We prefer the glass tank to the other acylic ones available because it will not get scratched so easy. The size is great because it is easy to transport to the sink for cleaning. This tank comes with a Five-Year Manufacturer Limited Warranty. Our betta is living in the lap of luxury and loves his palace. Just add some decorations and it is beautiful.

I have a Betta fish and this tank fish is big enough for him and his decorations. Best of all its easy to clean!

would recomed this for any one who want to have a Betta fish.

I just got my product and I am so excited about it. It is so cute and the rocks and decorations that I am putting in it will just make it that much cuter. there is only one thing that i don't understand about it. It has a glass divider which is great as I have 2 bettas and we know what Betta's do when they are together and there is the divet on the top of the tank to slide the glass divider in and you can see the divet at the bottom of the tank where it is supposed to slide in ther but the glass is on top of the divet so you can access that divet to finish the slide and secure the divider? Kind of weird. It appears that all is sealed so it can't be accessed. If anyone has figured out something that don't know, let me know =) I am hoping that when I put the rocks and water in it that is won't move back and forth all over the place. I didn't want to use gravel, just the marbles but I may have to use gravel if I can't get the divider to stay in place? That is the only thing that I see is a problem, everything else looks great. Can't wait to give my betta's their Valentines present later today.

I assumed this would be too small for 2 betta fish but it is perfect. There is plenty of space for them both and they don't bother with each other. Honestly we bought 2 males to see if they would fight through the glass, but they are both calm and because they can see each other they flare up and their colors are so beautiful. I would highly recommend this aquarium!

Petco Brooklyn 55 Gallon Metal Tank Stand

Petco Brooklyn 55 Gallon Metal Tank StandFirst the stand is real metal. I have had the particle board stands over the years and once they get wet they are done for.

This will definitely hold a 55 gallon tank. It is easy to put together but be aware that the finish scratches easily. If it is really powder coating as they claim, it is the thinnest coating I have ever seen. If a Burbur carpet could scratch the finish it is not powder coating. Most of the welded corners are ground down flush and only a few are not perfect. You really have to get close to see it.

And my big gripe? There was welding spatter in one of the bolt holes. This caused difficulty in getting the bolt in. I couldn't. A tap was needed to clear it out. The threads are 8mm 1.25 for the record. And yes it is made in China.

One last great feature I have never seen in a wooden stand is that the feet are adjustable. This is great! Just put a level on the stand and you can make it perfect! It does not matter if your floor is not perfectly level.

This is an incredibly great product. Assembly and set up was very easy and all the necessary tools (an Allen/hexagonal wrench) are supplied. Finish of the product pieces was perfect and, contrary to experience/claim of another reviewer, the finish was not subject to incidental damage. On top of its attractive modern design, this stand is incredibly strong and should easily be able to support 800 lbs. (Typical 55 gallon set up is about 600 lbs. not including the stand.) Feet are adjustable, so if your floor is not perfectly level, no problem! (This is a feature I have never seen in a competitive acquarium stand product.) And the price can't be beat!

What could be bad about this? Well maybe you don't like the metal construction or color, preferring something wooden. Or maybe you don't like the open design, wanting a cabinet where you can hide your equipment from site below the tank without using skirting material.

But when it comes to strength and functional utility, this actually may be the best 55 gallon acquarium stand that money can buy.

This product was packed and shipped by Petco. There were places on the product where the paint had been rubbed off. Would suggest to Petco to place bubble wrap around pieces to avoid the paint from rubbing off. Easy to put together. The stand is very high and really shows off the aquarium. Over all very pleased with product

biOrb Silver Aquarium Kit with Light

biOrb Silver Aquarium Kit with LightI love my BiOrb.

My brother sent me the round BiOrb as a birthday gift six years ago. (Thanks, Bro!) The tank stays incredibly clean. Filter changes are a snap. I don't change my filter or clean my tank as often as recommended: about every 6 months is usually often enough for me and my fish.

As someone with a fair amount of aquarium experience, I can truly say that the BiOrb amazes me. It holds all the joy of fish ownership with shockingly little work in return.

A really cool feature of the tank is the optical illusions caused by the spherical shape. Fish can "disappear" in the visual curvatures of the tank, or be reflected in another area of the tank. (One fish can appear to be no-fish or two fish.) This is nice entertainment for guests who are trying to count my fish. It also keeps me rather occupied when I'm worried that one of my fish is "missing," as it sometimes takes a bit of time to spot the fish I'm looking for. Fish swimming in certain areas of the tank are greatly magnified, so appear much larger than their actual size. After six years of ownership, this tank still provides a LOT of entertainment to me. Very Zen.

I've had to replace the halogen light and the air pump. The pump just lasted a year or two, then I got a replacement from the local pet store. The light shorted after about four years; ordering a replacement from Reef-One was easy. These two replacements do not seem abnormal to me... just part of the regular maintenance on any tank, in my opinion.

Really tiny fish can be sucked into the filter of the Biorb. I've only noticed that happening with small zebra daminaos. I've also had various tetras in the BiOrb (smaller than the daminaos) who had no problem staying where they belonged. If you notice the trapped fish, you can usually release them with no harm.

The literature with my BiOrb said it could support 3 large fish or 7 little fish. The biggest fish I've had in the tank are angel fish and fan-tail goldfish. I prefer smaller fish, since I enjoy watching schooling behaviors. (I've actually got 9 little fish in there at the moment. They appear happy and the chemical levels are okay.)

Just a bit more about the brilliant filtering system. I think the reason the tank stays so incredibly clean is that the air is pumped into the top-middle of the tank, so it creates a lovely water flow down the spherical sides of the tank and back into the central filter at the bottom. It's such an even pattern that debris is literally kept out of site and mind. Makes for happy fish and a happier fish owner.

I've read on-line that some people don't care for the plastic tank. I love it. Leak proof. Sturdy. No "bad" viewing angles. The instruction manual says to use care with cleaning products (don't want to scratch it!) but mine is blemish free even after all this time. Lighter and easier to set-up and move than a regular glass tank, as well. Really difficult to discern the molded seam of the tank, you have to really look. Most people never see it.

Another nice feature that is not often mentioned: no smell. The tank isn't exactly sealed: there's a nice lid with a little feeder hole so that dropping in food is easy. Most tanks, even well-cleaned ones, have a bit of an odor. This tank has nearly always been odor free.

Bottom line: YES! You'll love it, most any giftee will love it. Well worth the money!!!

I was lucky to find this in an 8 gallon on an auction site of all places, new in the box.

Great size, I have goldfish and one minnow. They were all in a 5 gallon and I don't want a big tank so this works great. It seems really large to me. And it's beautiful, love it when the light's on. I do want to get a LED bulb replacement for the evening when I can save enough to do so, but during the daytime I don't need any light, it gets indirect light from our patio door. I also bought some purple and blue Biorb plants, I liked the fakey retro cool look of them but any brightly colored plastic plants will do. I actually don't want to cover the air tube up because I like the way it looks -it's way cool. Ditto for the rocks. Reminds me of a futuristic fishbowl.

I don't find the pump noisy but it's resting on the carpeted floor near the wall. It does hum as all air pumps do. The thing that's loud is the bubbles from the air tube. I like it though, it's not an offensive sound, kind of like a bubbling fountain sound. The shape of the bowl really distorts the fish though, they can't really be normally seen unless they're close to the plastic. Otherwise they're magnified. Speaking of magnification, if this is put in direct sunlight, it can burn cause enough magnification of the sun's rays to start a fire!!! Seriously!

Although flake food is kind of messy, if I feed it in small amounts it goes quickly...I also have a supply of small-sized pellet food to give my fish from time to time.

One thing that I heard is that goldfish pee a lot, so I bought some Ammo Carb and instead of buying costly filters all the time, I just put a small amount (not too much or the filter won't work well) in after disposing of the old stuff and rinsing the sponge in aquarium water. So far it's worked well for me and the water continues to stay clear and the fish are very healthy (their color, activity and fins are straight up and they're really busy and always begging for food like goldfish do :0). Also, I heard that LED lights should be available soon in many more stores (especially here in Cali) and plan to purchase a bulb from our local home improvement warehouse for around $22. Also, the pump can be replaced with any air pump, it doesn't HAVE to be a BiOrb!!! :-)

Update: My BiOrb started leaking so I contacted the company -I had a hard time so I actually contacted the United Kingdom office by email and they connected me with a U.S. rep really fast. I'm actually in the process of receiving a replacement now, no charge to me with a return label for my leaking tank so I give this company a BIG thumbs-up for customer service!!!

I bought the 8 gallon silver biorb with halogen light directly from Petco. I chose this aquarium because it looks stylish and because it came with everything needed (except heater), so it was easy to get started.

I started with 3 glofish (florescent coloured zebra danios), and now have 5 glofish and 1 betta. The tank looks quite nice, but one disadvantage of the design is that with the curved sides not all the fish are visible at once.

The main problem I have had is the glofish getting stuck in the filter. I bought the bubble tube guard, but they still find ways to get in through the water intakes at the bottom (they must be finding ways to swim through gaps in the ceramic rocks and then squeezing through the gaps in the filter case). In the 2 months I've had it, I've had 5 entrapments. Luckily the glofish are really tough, so they have survived the experience (except for the first one, which I accidentally dropped on the floor while rescuing I'm more careful now). Rescuing trapped fish is quite traumatic, especially when they are stuck in such a way as to be very difficult to get out. Each day I count the fish swimming around, and my heart sinks when one is missing....

So I can't recommend this aquarium for small fish of young glofish size. But it's not a really big tank, so that doesn't leave many options for fish choices.

I bought 2 biorb 8 gallon aquariums about 2 years ago. I really like the idea and the size was just right. Right out of the box I had problem trying to remove the filter system on one. Other than that I had no problems till recently. The plastic that holds the air stone and the outside bottom plastic plate cracked in multiple spots especially around the screw holes and the aquarium started leaking. I would never recommend an aquarium that has brittle plastic used to seal the bottom. Reef-one web site says once it starts to leak in the bottom it can be tricky to get it to reseal. The bottom parts are not available for purchase, only the whole bowl with bottom parts.

I got this kit a few months ago for my Laguna 2100 pressure-flo. It is a good replacement kit with the necessary parts. I'll still give a 5 star, but I wish it had a 20w bulb instead of the 18w. My factory uv light was 20w. Other than that, good for a annual replacement for your koi pond filtration system.

Zoo Med betta House 2 Gallon Television Style Black

Zoo Med betta House 2 Gallon Television Style BlackI just got this today, but I am already happy with it. I got it for my betta as an upgrade from a smaller tank, which was very pretty. However, if I find any problems with my "betta house" I will come back and update.

Aussie Aquariums Wall Mounted Aquarium - Skyline Black

Aussie Aquariums Wall Mounted Aquarium - Skyline Black*I am in discussions with the seller. So far they are being helpful and seem genuine about their desire to work this out to where I'm happy with what I've got, which is very much appreciated. I'll keep this updated regarding the result.*

I have rated very few things, but I felt people deserved to know more about this product.

I did a lot of comparison shopping and research, this being my first "real" fish tank. Given the small amount of technical data presented, I was comparing this against other 10-15 gallon tanks based on the 35x5x16 measurements. Here are the problems I've had with it.

* It's NOT the black I ordered, but blue. I thought maybe it was just me, or the light, but no, it's very clearly blue. Blue is not even LISTED as a color option.

*There are no measurements that equal 35X16x5. That would equal (2,800 c/inches), 12 gallons if it were full. The INSIDE tank measurements are 31.375x12.25x3.125. This is only 1,201 c/inches, a mere FIVE gallons!!! The total outside the wide frame measurements are 35.5x17.5x4.375, but this is MUCH bigger than the actual tank.

Unfortunately, this showed up (well packaged and quickly) the day before my daughter's birthday so we were in a hurry to get it up and running and didn't realize the problems until it was already mounted. Some other things to note, but aren't necessarily "problems."

The light is an unshielded under cabinet light. It will shine as much light up the wall as into the tank. It is not compatible with full spectrum lights if you wish to have live plants.

There is no "lid" per say, just a piece of glass that rests on top that you have to set aside when accessing tank. Haven't broken it yet, but I'm guessing it's just a matter of time.

With only a 3 1/8 interior depth, it is VERY narrow, most rocks/decor won't fit inside. There are large blind spots on the side hidden by the frame where fish/animals like to hide.

No heater is included. The filter seems OK but is a bit loud. The vacuum is easy to use and helpful. Kids could have easy access to all lighted on/off switches on the bottom. The metal face scratches and dents fairly easily. The instruction manual is generic for many tanks and is a bit vague on details.

Over all, if you want a small tank to hold no more than 5 total inches of fish, it's not bad. However it is NOT worth the $700+ "compare at price" in my opinion and it is NOT necessarily the size or color shown. Beware!

Aussie Aquariums Wall Mounted Aquarium is very classy. I received mine broke and received a partial refund. I fixed it and had to pay almost a hundreds bucks. Still worth it.
