The holes in the top make this unusable (without modification) for containing many insects.
It takes a lot of tweaking and modifications to get it to work correctly. Even then it only runs correctly for less than a day before having to tweak it again. Very cheap plastic on housing and connections,and cracks very easily. Only positive thing about it is the motor,it runs great with no problems.

Ordered this for my 120 fish only tank, trying to save a few bucks, and while it shipped very quickly, that's about where the positives end. The item came in a plain white box with a small instructions pamphlet that was clearly written by someone for whom English is not a native tongue. The few instructions that came with the item were incredibly unclear and unhelpful. Then once I got to assembling the skimmer, I realized just how flimsy it was. The collection cup is held in place by wishes and hopes and would go flying off as soon as you turned this thing on and it started foaming over. That's another thing as well, the amount of foam and micro bubbles was ungodly, and no matter how much you adjusted the multiple valves, it was either not skimming at all, or blowing over with foam. Not to mention that the design of this thing is extremely ill thought out. It takes up an enormous amount of space inside the tank, and the bracket to hang it is not wide enough for my tank ( did I mention this was advertised to work for up to 180 gallon tanks?). What possible uses this item can have, I haven't a clue. I've started the return process and purchased a seaclone 150 which compared to this thing is a dream come true and that's saying something, because the seaclone is a budget skimmer.

I purchased this item after reading about it and found it to be a lot more convenient to use compared to all of the other methods of fish acclimation. Not having to jump up every few minutes to add water to the fish container (and try to remember where you were in the process) is a god send for me. And, as a bonus, It also just so happens that it is the best method of doing an acclimation, as well. The only wish I have is that the assembly sat a little higher above the surface of the water which would make it a lot more convenient in positioning the bag containing the fish below the drip cup and adjusting the drip. Being able to secure the assembly to the tank glass would also help. I wound up dropping the drip cup a couple of times while trying to position everything and am afraid that if I'm not careful, I'll break it. Otherwise, it's a great little gadget and I love it! On another note, I had a problem with the item I received, and, the company was extremely responsive in remedying the situation. I have had my Aquavista for about two months. It is low maintenance and we really love it. If you check out their website and click on the "parts" tab a window comes up which says "check next week". It has said that since I bought the thing, they have tons of frames but for some reason no parts. My guess is they either don't have parts, which is scary, or their parts are so high priced they would rather not list them on the web site. I am going to be ready for a new filter soon and I am not quite sure what will happen with that. Another warning, once you mount it to the wall you will never get the thing off again without bending the bracket. The directions were skimpy at best and we really wish we had known this along with some other things we had to learn the hard way. Overall I think it is one of the better wall mount tanks on the market. If I could rate 0 stars, I would. This was possibly the worst purchase I have ever made. It is kind of a hassle to hang and I hang a lot of stuff on walls for a living, there is no room for the cord behind and the bracket is cheap. Once you get it up, it looks nice until the water overflows out the overfill drain even before it gets up to the max level mark, pouring water all over your couch or whatever is underneath. Small fish disappear, big fish swim out the overfill drain and are impossible to get out. Basically there is nothing good about it.
They float to the top and then are pushed down occasionally by the current from the filter. We just have a 2 gallon tank so it seemed that 5 was too much as 3 were stuck in a group on the top...when it's just 3, it's better. We've had bad luck with real fish so this is just what we needed!

I'd read reviews on fish that were all exactly the same (i.e., they clump together), so I wanted a set with different fish. All tend to "swim" at the top except the angel fish (the white one), which migrates to the bottom and stays there. My daughter loves them, and has named them all.
