The little red connector to the hose breaks as soon as you try to unplug the hose. For others, cut the hose as the bas along the red connector with a cutter and then remove the hose, doing that you won't apply force on those red connections and won't break them. i went through one pump before I figured that out :((

This pump is great for my purpose, which is to top off an aquarium as water evaporates. Very quiet. My only problem with it is that the tubing was so tight on the first one I bought that when I tried pulling it off the intake and output ports the red plastic broke off with it.
