The product description is lacking though. I got it to use with my 29 gal fresh water tank. To affect parasites, in addition to the the alga and fungus, the water flow must be around 100 Gal per hour. As a result, I needed to get the 6x to be within what my canister filter produced. The smaller 3X needed a water flow around 50 GPH, which was too slow for my equipment. Fortunately I was able to return the 3x I had originally gotten, and was only out the shipping.The 6x was able to be incorporated into my setup without much of a problem. It comes with 5/8 inch connections, so I had to purchase adapters at a local fish store to reduce it and attach my 1/2 inch tubing, but once gotten, it connected without a problem as has been working well.
It's on a timer, and runs about 4 hours a day. That has been keeping the water clear, and helps to keep it clean.
