Exo Terra Terrarium Stand

Exo Terra Terrarium Stand for PT2600 and PT2602, SmallUpon receipt of the package, I was surprised when there was no overpackaging, just the manufacturers box, but I guess a 60lb box is too heavy for the package smashers to throw, and there was no damage to the stand.

However I should have known something was amiss when I went to separate the items and sort them out, but the pictures in the instructions didnt match up to the actual pieces presented. Fast forward 30 minutes and after careful review the stand is assembled with just the doors left to be put on. Fast forward another 30 minutes, the doors are on, but dragging on each other, or the side of the cabinet, and the screw holes are blown out from all the tweaking that has been done to even be able to open the doors completely. Fast forward to the next day, the matching (empty!) terrarium that was set on top of it had broken the corner of the particle board.

This stand is utter crap, none of the doors open without dragging, the corner pins which are supposed to match up with slots in the terrarium feet to keep it from sliding off dont match up at all, the corner cracked under the weight of an empty terrarium. I bought a $99 cabinet/stand from a furniture store made from solid pine, assembled it, stained it, and ended up with something much better. Afterwards I taunted the exo-terra stand, making many implications about its mother, before returning it for a refund.

I wish i listened to the one review on this product before buying it but i took a hopeful chance that my experience would be better. W was wrong! I bought this for my 12yr old son for christmas for his bearded dragons new larger tank to sit on. I searched a lot out there to fit this size tank and was hard to find at a decent price. I decided on this one and really wish i went with another option.

First when it arrived it was in its original packaging, nothing else protecting it from being shipped and bumped around, and it arrived looking like it went through the ringer, box was ripped in many places, not to mention the box is black and left black marks on hands clothes and on the our kitchen floor. This item definitely needs better packaging to help from getting damaged because it had some damage.

Setting up this item, took my husband a good portion of time. The directions were horrible and not detailed at all on how to put this stand together. Also there was a huge crack on the top part of the stand that the tank sits on (probably due to poor packaging of course) and a main hardware piece (the latch) is missing from the top part of the top drawer that locks it into place. This door has since falled open and knocked my 4yr old son in the head because it does not latch properly without that missing piece. Also there is a good sized scratch on front of the right side door

If it was up to us we would return this item right now and look for a better stand for my son that will not come damaged, but he likes it and wants to keep it. So we are considering keeping it if a few of these problems will be corrected by this company and our broken, damaged or missing parts will be replaced. We will need a new top board that is not cracked across the top and has the correct latch hardward attached so that the top drawer can be closed properly. Also will need a new right side door that doesn not have a scratch across it. I never write bad reviews but this one definitely needed a review. I love amazon and buy many many great purchases through them over the years at great prices, but definitely not happy with this purchase!

This stand fits perfectly under the large terrarium. There are nubs in the corners that match spaces in the tank to help secure the fit. There is plenty of room for all the snake supplies and then some inside.

The stand makes the whole set-up complete. I have a very heavy Exo-terra sitting on it, so I know its sturdy enough. I didn't like the directions, basically a few pictures of rectangles. I won't be moving this around very much because I have a feeling its better left undisturbed.

UPDATE 6/24/12I'm still happy with the stand. I broke my promise of never moving it, it's been scooted across a tile floor with a VERY heavy tank on top of it. Several times. I had put this type of furniture together before, maybe that's why I had no problems. I made a large hole in the backer-board to let cords pass through, I keep my timer and power strip inside the top compartment.
