These are top quality filters that when used in conjunction with an ultra violet light remove a great precentage of the algae present in a pond. The porous nature of the filter creates many "pockets" for the dead algae to be collected and kept from returning to the water.
I purchased this on Tuesday and received it on Monday. Bought it to have in reserve for when the original filter needs to be replaced. I read many reviews before purchasing the Laguna filter and felt it had the best rating. I may get to keep this in reserve for awhile if my system works as well as the reviews I read.
