Perfecto Full Recessed Hoods 30in Black
  • Fixture has a 90 day warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
  • Hood is 29.25" l x 11.25" w x 3" high.

The hood fit perfectly, included the light and looks great. I am glad I did not spend much more for it at a local pet store. Thank you!

I had previously bought a Marineland LED hood for my 29 gallon aquarium, it looked pretty but had very flimsy hinges which broke after six months rendering the hood useless as it fell off every time I tried to raise it to do anything. Since I really needed a hood to keep my aquatic turtles in, I resigned to having to go back to a conventional fluorescent unit to replace the broken LED hood. I read the other reviews here for this unit and they are accurate. This hood is very well made, fit my tank perfectly. I was a little concerned with having to cut out the plastic in the back to fit my filter tubing, heater, etc. but after carefully measuring it was easy to do with almost no gap space, so not even a small crab would be able to get out now. I am very happy with this purchase. If Perfecto ever makes the same hood with an LED I will be their first customer.

5 stars! This hood is exactly like the 29 gallon hood it replaced. That hood was the original one from that "save money. live better" store.

It's nice. It does what it says it does. I especially like the no drip feature. I'm thinking of upgrading the lights and don't know how hard that would be if it's even possible.

The other reviews I thought sounded planted, but they are actually true. This is a very nice feeling hood. It just feels well made! I definitely recommend it. It fits perfectly on top of my 29 gallon tank. The only thing I guess I can say that wasn't the best was the difficulty I had in removing the tabs on the back to make space for the filter, air hoses, etc. I ended up having to use tin snips to cut the plastic tabs out of the way. But if anything, maybe that's just a testament to its solid construction!

Aquatop Red Devil Hang-On Canister Filter RD-30G

Aquatop Red Devil Hang-On Canister Filter RD-30GI bought this filter about 2 weeks ago because I was looking for the cleaning ability of a canister filter and the ease of filter maintenance of a hang on the back filter. This filter was very easy to set up and all the media comes with the filter. The compartments will make adding the media that I desire, down the road, a snap. Priming the filter the first time took me a few tries but once I realized you have to make sure the top seal is very tight I was good to go. Because this is a new filter design from Aquatop I did call their help line to ask a few questions about the filter and they were easy to reach, kind and helpful on the phone. Water flow seems very good, even after 2 weeks of running. The filter runs so quiet I was not sure it was even on until I saw the water flow. I would say this is a perfect filter for a 20 or 30 gallon tank.

With in two days of running this filter it became terribly noisy. I opened it and realized the impeller was broken, IN TWO DAYS! What is worse is there is no support and I don't think aquatop even makes this product any longer, the only place you can find it is on amazon and truaqua website but neither has a parts list or replacement parts.

I have a lot of experience with filters and fish. I usually use a canister filter system but this time I had a small (20gallon) fish tank so I decided to just use a Hang-on-tank filter. I went through about 4 of the crappy filters with the spinning wheel and where you load cartidges from the top. They are horrible and costly. This filter works perfect and is a true (small version) canister filter. You can setup your own media the way you like it. Buy this and do research on how to properly setup media in a canister filter and you will never have a dirty tank. Of course, make sure you are using it with the right size tank

I got this filter quicker than it said it would arrive. It came with everything, no need to buy any filter media. I am using it on a 15 gallon nano reef and it has been working very well. It is easy to use and set up, unlike other canister filters. It is a great price too. I would recommend to others looking for a nice and efficient filter.

Teddy Tank White Dog Betta Fish Tank 8-Piece Premium Package

Teddy Tank White Dog Betta Fish Tank 8-Piece Premium PackageIt's a cute idea... for anything other than a live animal. Why even think of showing it with a betta.. they need so much more than a little bit of water. Please do not buy this with the intent of putting a LIVE ANIMAL in this thing.

A one gallon plastic bowl is NOT an ideal habitat for ANY living being. Betta are tropical fish, they need MORE than a gallon of water, a heater, filter and light, like any fish. DO NOT put any living creature in this thing. Use it as a bank or container for items, not animals. The misconception that Betta and even Goldfish can live in a tiny bowl is NOT true and is often deadly to the fish. Fish are not toys, and this item perpetuates that, therefore it is not worthy of any good rating.

Wow! What an incredible idea. I originally got one for my son. He loves dogs and fish. What a great combination. It is easy to maintain and I must admit I also brought a Doggie Teddy Tank for my desk at work. Like my son, I am also enjoying my Teddy Tank.

Zoo Med Floating Betta Exercise Mirror

Zoo Med Floating Betta Exercise MirrorI would NOT recommend this for your betta fish. I put my betta fish in with the mirror and he tore up his back fins against the egg of the mirror. It has sharp edges! I don't know why no one has mentioned this but I had to return all three which I bought to the pet store because I tried it out with my poor fish and now he's having to grow back his fins. Please avoid this product until they address this serious issue. We buy the fish for their fins not so see them destroyed!

This is not excercise. This is a terribly stressed-out fishy who thinks he's being threatened and needs to defend himself.

Buy Zoo Med Floating Betta Exercise Mirror Now

Wow, I never thought of this before! They should make something with this same principle for our own kids. Maybe I'll get a little talking robot that verbally abuses my child and induces his natural fighting habits. That'll give him some great exercise.

This "toy" is the equivalent of having someone break into your house, from your betta's point of view. Your betta will go nuts. You'll think it's funny. Maybe you'll leave it in his bowl for much too long.

If you're a loving betta owner, ready and willing to spend the extra money for the health and happiness of your fun loving fishy friend, don't spend it on something pointless and harmful. Instead, buy your betta buddy a bigger tank or a heater. Live plants will naturally clean the water and provide hiding places. Zoo med sells those little leaf hammocks for your betta to rest on (even I gave in, and my betta loves it!). You are a good intentioned fairy-fishmother for being so thoughtful, but do your research before you bestow harm upon your betta instead!

Don't buy this, the "mirror" washes off within a few days leaving you with just a clear plastic floating disk attached to a ball. Now, whatever they made the mirror out of was circulating throughout my tank and I had to do a water change. Don't buy this.

API Freshwater Master Test Kit

API Freshwater Master Test KitI recently started up a freshwater tank and am learning the ropes as I go. I was doing some research on what to expect and what supplies I needed. I came across this product in a search and after reading other product reviews I decided to splurge and get this test kit. I think out of all the ones I reveiwed this is the only one that had all the 4 major tests in one case with ease of use that even a child can do (with supervision).

I do have an added tip for all you PetSmart/PetCo shopppers. Print out this page and take it in and they will price match. The PetSmart (instore) price is $29.99 and after showing them the ad I saved over $13, and I didn't even have to pay for shipping! :) GREAT DEAL!!!

Four of five tests are fairly straightforward. The ammonia test, however, requires mixing the 5ml of tank water with 10 drops of one solution, shaking a second solution bottle for 30 seconds, adding 10 drops from it, then shaking the test tube for one minute, and then waiting 5 minutes to test color against a chart. Seems a bit much, no? That being said, this process isn't any more difficult than any other system I've seen, and it seems to be accurate. The color chart is waterproof, though the instruction manual isn't, and due to the moist nature of its application, make sure to memorize instructions quickly. API is by far the most highly recommended test kit on every freshwater tank forum I've read, and I found it here a good bit cheaper than at my local (chain) pet store. Be aware that the test tubes are glass and will occasionally shatter when trying to juggle all 4 at once, but I've only once needed to test for everything the first day the kit came in. Nitrates are probably the only regular (weekly) test you'll have to do outside of changes to the tank, such as adding fish or changing substrate or filter media.

FYI each bottle has a printed "Lot Number" on the back, the last four digits of which are the month and year of manufacture. Anything over three years or so is getting old, and you'll probably want an exchange unless you test with great frequency. These chems definitely have a finite shelf life.

Oh, and anyone who has live plants in a tank will want phosphates and KH test kits as well.

Buy API Freshwater Master Test Kit Now

This is a good all-purpose test kit for someone beginning freshwater fish-keeping. It's also the most economical way I've found to purchase a wide variety of tests (it contains test solutions for pH, ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates) in large volume. The directions are clear and concise and the color coded cards make readings easy.

Read Best Reviews of API Freshwater Master Test Kit Here

There are a few excellent points about this test kit:

1) buying here saves you about 50% from the retail pet store

2) you get 800+ tests for ~ $17 vs. 25 tests w/ strips

3) results are far more accurate with liquid test kits like this one when compared to dipsticks

Note that of the 5 tests you can do with this, three of them require 5 minute waits before you read the colors, so it's not as fast as a dipstick. But honestly, this is such an economic choice, and it's accuracy far exceeds quick strips that it's ridiculous to buy them. Get this kit!

Want API Freshwater Master Test Kit Discount?

I ordered the test kit on jan 21st and it took tell feb 1st to get which seemed long but maybe i am just spoiled with prime. I did not take any stars off for the shipping time.

My main issue is the description is false. It clearly says:

"Freshwater Master Test Kit is a complete kit for testing tap water & aquarium water.Tests water 6 different ways to protect tropical fish from dangerous water conditions.Tests include: freshwater pH, ammonia, nitrite, high range pH, GH & KH, 4 test tubes, tray."

Well where is the GH & KH kit? It seems that the description is wrong. It says the kits are included but they are not. The ONLY reason i bought this was because it had the GH and KH kit included and i found it silly to spend the money on just a GH and KH kit when i could just get the other items for a only a little bit more.

Needless to say i am frustrated. I waited 12 days to get the wrong thing.I guess i should have read the text on the picture and not the actual product description.

Seachem Prime 500ml

Seachem Prime 500mlFrom Cichlids to Fancy Goldfish I've been keeping fish for 30+ years.Just about every major manufacture and boutique specialty company has a water conditioning and treatment product.I can't say I've tried them all, but close too it. Some products have at the least, minimal effectiveness while others can be potentially dangerous.

An example would be Stress Coat which has binding sugar strands in the Aloe. This isn't a problem unless one of your fish has a small scratch or wound. The sugar feeds the bacteria which can lead to major infection and dire consequences.I've been using Amquel for years and it's a fine conditioner, excellent at removing chlorine, and Chloramines, but like all these products they come with limitations.

Well, with one exception and that's Prime by Seachem.

A few months ago, I decided to give it a try, and haven't looked back since. Prime doesn't just remove the chlorine and Chloramine it does much more:

* Detoxifies any and all heavy metals in your tap water

(you can call your water company directly for a list of them and PPM)

* Neutralizes Ammonia

* Neutralizes Nitrite

* Neutralizes high Nitrate to non toxic levels

* Removes toxic gases

* Will not foam or change PH

* Helps regenerate natural slime coat

Since using Prime, I've seen a dramatic improvement in all of my fish. In 2010 one of tanks was hit with the dreaded and rare Toxic Tank Syndrome within 48 hours I had lost nine gorgeous fish except for one survivor, a single Broad Tail Nymph.Since that ordeal, "Roxy" became a bottom dweller spending most of her time laying in a corner. Treatments were conservative, but nothing worked.

After my first 50% water change using Prime her behavior began to improve. Now she swims among her tank mates, her color is better, gill movement stabilized and her appetite ferocious. In fact I see improvements in all my fish and in every tank. There simply isn't anything like it, Prime is hands down one of the best things you can do for your fish.

In addition to the outstanding, patented formula of Prime it couldn't be more economical to use. A single 500 ml bottle treats up to a whopping 5,000 gallons of water. A tiny bit goes a long, long way.It should also be noted that in times of emergency the dose can be increased five times, Prime is harmless to fish. It's the only product of it's kind, and towers above any other water treatment on the market period.

If your an aquarium hobbyist be it novice or advanced I would urge you to add a bottle of Prime to your arsenal of fish care products. Your finned friends will thank you for it.

I usually don't write reviews, but I did want to take the time to recommend this product. I have been keeping fancy goldfishes for over ten years now and finding the right tap water conditioner had always been a headache for me. I have tried most of the popular products on the market and they have always given me either mixed results or no results at all. Too often, I've had the fish die on me after a water change. However, when someone recommended the Prime water conditioner to me during a visit to the pet store, my problem was solved. I have used this product for a few years now and never since had any more fish die after a water change. I sincerely believe this is the most effective all-in-one solution on the market and for regular fish keeping, this is the only water conditioner one really needs.

Buy Seachem Prime 500ml Now

In my opinion, SeaChem's Prime is the best water conditioner on the market. I've tried a few of them and Prime does the best job. It removes chlorine/chloramine and other toxic metals from water instantly. Plus, as little as literally ONE drop treats a gallon of water. I have a total of 115 gallons of water in my 3 tanks. I perform 50% weekly water changes in all of the 3 tanks. To give you an idea of how economical Prime is, I've had a 250 mL bottle of it for more than a year. Only a few dollars' worth will treat hundreds of gallons of water. And as I've mentioned above, I perform 50% weekly water changes for my 115 gallons of water. Now, that's what I call a really great product. Highly recommend it to any serious fish keepers :o)

I bought this water conditioner at a chain pet store. It is so effective at removing chloramines, chlorine, and ammonia that you barely need to use any at all. Just follow the directions and the bottle will last you forever if you have a modest sized tank.

Marineland LED Aquarium Hood

Marineland LED Aquarium Hood 20 by 10I was satisfied with this product. the light quality is bright and crisp. i have always had florescent bulbs, and will say that this light seems superior. sufficiently bright, and good fish colors. the night light ('moon light') feature is cool too, and nice since we like to leave it on in the kitchen when we sleep, to guide us to late night snacks ;) BUT MAKE SURE YOU MEASURE YOUR FILTER! there is only ONE slot in the back and it measures approx 6.5" x 2.5" (measurements i could not find anywhere online!! so hope this helps you). my filter is 7" wide, so i had to take scissors and cut the plastic (kind of hard to do, but i was able to get it with some effort, and maybe scarified the scissors). and ONE hole means no space for a heater (unless you have a fully submersible kind, or dont care about using one, or are fine cutting more holes in the hood). i just dont use a heater, so that didnt bother me. as others mentioned having no spot to feed the fish can be annoying, but really, just lifting the lid (its hinged) is really not a big deal. overall, i considered the problems not that bothersome, and enjoy the light quality enough to ignore the annoyances.

I'm thrilled with the Marineland LED Aquarium Hood 20 by 10; I bought it as a part of an aquarium set up, a birthday present for my son, who just turned eight years old.

Before purchasing this hood my reservation was:

Are the LEDs going to be bright enough?

I think I read a review that said they weren't. Well, I'm quite picky about lighting, so I bought an extra red LED light as a part of a decor feature Hydor Ario Red Volcano Kit (Med)as an extra security: if the brightness of the LEDs was really not up-to-par, at least I would have a secondary light source.

Well, I was happily surprised when I turned on the hood light, which exceeded my expectations in brightness. The white lights are so true and pure and bright. The white light makes each color very clear and bright in the tank. The white light setting is actually too bright for night (I have the tank facing my son's bed).

All LEDs are not created equal, that is for sure. Previously, I purchased a small cylindrical aquarium for my desk; it had LED lights, but they were barely bright enough to fill the tank and barely make enough light to even use as a nightlight.

These lights are quite bright; fine LEDs, no need to worry about that one.

The blue moonlight setting is so unbelievably beautiful for night! I put it on for a soothing nightlight for my son to sleep by. Furthermore, I think it soothes the fish to have blue light at night, too. They need a break from the light, just like they would at night in their natural setting in the wild.

If you haven't switched your tanks to LED lights please note that not only are the lights more beautiful than incandescent, which always seem to have a bit of yellow to them (NOT a good thing when it comes to aquarium lighting) they are also energy hogs. LEDs are low-watt wonders: they produce beautiful, bright light (if built right) and use very little energy, which pays you in the long run. Plus, and this is a BIG PLUS, they don't give off heat, which means far less algae. I mean, CONSIDERABLY LESS.

I only had to change my small LED lit tank ONE time in six months and the water was crystal clear when I changed it. Really. That is a far cry from the old incandescent ones that seem to cloud up every time you turn around. That means CONSIDERABLY less work and more enjoyment from this product.

Combined with the volcano red LED Hydor Ario Red Volcano Kit (Med)decor and the thrilling Sea Serpent decoration, my son now has a unique, gorgeous and fascinating tank to view before he dozes off at night.

Buy Marineland LED Aquarium Hood Now

In general I like the clarity and brightness of LED lighting, but I have to admit that I am not sure whether I can say I like it in the fish tank. My old flourescent hood provided a warmer light than this LED hood does, even though the mixing of blue LEDs in with the white was meant to tone down the light. I do like the night or "moonlight" mode which just uses the 3 blue LEDs. This offers my fish a good transitional period between day and complete dark.

At first, I really liked the low-profile look of the hood. I thought it was kind of cool that the whole hood hinged upwards when you opend it and attached directly to the tank instead of just resting on top of it. I quickly came to the conclusion that is not a very cool feature. First off the condensation on the underside of the hood races to the back and runs off. For the most part, it just goes right back into your tank but if you have an over-the-back filter, that means you now have water all over the top of your filter. Also, when you are opening the hood to feed your fish, it drips all over the place. The first time I fed my fish, I had the open food container in the same hand I used to partially prop open the hood and had a bunch of water drip into the container. That really pissed me off considering a small container of food is $12 and I couldn't salvage much. It is just poor design planning.

Also important to note about condensation is if you have hard water in the least bit, you will get deposits on not only the underside of the hood, but the light lens, and possibly the OTB filter. Add to the fact that the light lens is plastic so you cannot scrub hard-water off of it without scratching the hell out of the plastic lens and you have longevity issues. Even if you don't have very hard water, over time you will get deposits, it is just a fact of life in the aquarium hobby. Condensation management for this hood just plain sucks. Maybe if you live in an area where the humidity is very high and you don't condition the air in your house you will not have the kind of condensation issues I am having.

I also don't like the light coverage inside the tank. The edges of the tank are not lit up as they would be with a flourescent bulb spanning the entire length of the tank. Add to this that when you open the hood, the LEDs move away from the water and shine in your face. This design oversight means there is no way to make changes to the tank's contents and see how they look as you make the changes if you are trying to set it up for display. Instead, you have to remove your arm and close the lid to get the visual. As I was changing the tank contents around to make it look the best under the new lighting conditions, this became a pain. I suppose it is a one-time issue.

Also, the break-away/cut-away section on the hood for OTB filter and cords, etc.. seems to be opposite of my previous hoods. I had to completely rearrange the contents of my tank so that I could move the heater and filter and other accessories to take advantage of this hoods setup. I was not a happy camper! I spent a lot of time getting my tak the way I liked it and then had to try and mimic that in a mirrored version to make this hood work. (That should have been my clue to send it back, but I pressed on...)

Finally, there is no way to open the hood in increments. It is either fully open or closed. This means that when doing maintenance, you have to have no lighting in the tank because the LEDs are staring you in the face. I know, just turn them off but then you have to turn them back on and close the lid to see if what you were doing is actually complete.

In summary, I was not impressed. I think with more effort in the design department and more commitment by the manufacturer to develop something that helps to showcase the contents of an aquarium as well as lnot inhibit the ability to maintain the tank, LED lighting has the potnetial to take the hobby by storm. Right now, though, the only bragging rights this product has in my opinion are "First to Market". I would wait before making an LED hood purchase.

The white LED lights are bright and illuminate the aquarium nicely. The clips fit securely to the aquarium frame and the hinges on the hood snap into the clips. The hood fit nicely into the frame of our 10-gallon aquarium. The handle on the front is easy to grasp and there is a removable piece near it you can take out so you can have a small opening in the hood (about 1" by 2") if you want for easy feeding without opening the hood.

The cutout opening in the back has plenty of room for our Fluval C2 power filter, both when the hood is closed and when it is open.

The LED unit itself is a separate module that snaps into the top of the hood. The switch is on the top of the LED unit slide it all the way to the left for the white day light, all the way to the right for the blue light and to the center if you want to turn it off.

We are very pleased with this hood/light.

I own two 29 gallon aquariums (30x18x12)and had been using a flat glass versa top and putting a standard strip light that you could pick up from Wal-Mart for under $10 as lighting. I replaced the standard 24 inch bulb in the light strips with Aqueon T-8 Full Spectrum Daylight Fluorescent Lamp bulbs. I used this approach because I was worried about evaporation and glass versa tops hold in water pretty well. This hood does a comparable job, perhaps allows a bit more evaporation. I purchased one of these hoods and instantly decided to purchase another after seeing the difference in lighting.

My 29 gallon aquariums houses juv. African cichlids of various species ranging from dwarf Mbuna to piscivore Haps and these LED lights really pulls out their color. I had to cut out more room in the back of the hood to allow for more "hang on the back" filters because my aquariums are, from a technical standpoint, "overstocked".

LED lighting is in my opinion much better than the Aqueon T-8 Full Spectrum Daylight Fluorescent Lamp bulbs that I had been previously using. These LEDs enhance the blues and yellows of my African cichlids great and produce a clean looking white light that I think looks more natural. That being said, you can purchase some absolutely amazing aquarium specific light bulbs that specialize in various things such as plant growth or specific color enhancement.

A quick Pros and Cons for this product.

Pros:

-Cheap Compared to Other Hoods

-VERY Cheap Compared to Other LED Hoods (some LED hoods I looked at range from $80 to $2,000. YIKES)

-Modifiable Filter Space (use a hand saw to cut out needed room for filters. "Measure twice and cut once")

-Prevents Evaporation Comparable to Glass Versa Top

-Produces Less Algae Due to Light Spectrum

-Really Pulls Out the Colors in Fish (noticeably increased the range of hue in the blues and yellows of my male Aulonocara Baenschi or "Benga")

-Creates a Water Ripple Lighting Effect

-White Light For Day-time

-Blue Light for Night-time (It simulates the moon light and allows you to observe your inhabitants in a night setting)

-Small Removable Insert In Front of Hood to Allow Quick Access Without Having to Open The Hood For Feeding

(hole created is roughly 2inx 3in)

Cons:

-Back-top Corners of the Aquarium Are Not Illuminated Well (this is due to the cone effect used in Aquarium LED lighting)

-More Evaporation Than A Glass Versa Top

-You Get What You Pay For

-Must Be Fully Closed or Fully Open

-Scratch-able Plastic Light Housing (use care and patience when cleaning)

-Bad For Planted Aquariums

-Hinges Are Low Quality

-Blue & White Light Are On The Same Plug

-Not a Lot of Room For Multiple Hang on the Back Filters if You Have an Overstocked Aquarium (easily enough room for a 40-60 gallon rated hang on the back filter)

I hope I provided an unbiased and helpful review. Good luck shopping and as always, have a great day.

110V 200W Watt Anti-Explosion Submersible Aquarium Fish Tank Water Heater

110V 200W Watt Anti-Explosion Submersible Aquarium Fish Tank Water HeaterI didn't get this on Amazon but that other site. Been using submersible heaters over 20 years. It is a great looking item. Had to clean glass from the tank. Seller sent free replacement. The replacement will not come on at any temperature or any setting. At least it didn't blow up. Seller refunded in full and said they would check their stock..Hope they do cuz I'm just glad no fish or people were injured by this.

I am on a budget, and did alot of price comparisons on many tank heaters. I was very surprised to find this size

unit at that price. I thought it was such a deal, that I bought two units. I have no regrets.

Buy 110V 200W Watt Anti-Explosion Submersible Aquarium Fish Tank Water Heater Now

This product is crap. NO worth one red cent. The plug is not a standard american plug. A Pure waste of time.

biUbe Pure Aquarium with Halogen Light, Clear, 9 Gallons

biUbe Pure Aquarium with Halogen Light, Clear, 9 GallonsI wanted to buy a small aquarium for my bedroom so after doing some research, I decided on a Reef One Aquarium. I really wanted the biOrb Life 45 for the extra gallons and the fact that it doesn't distort the fish, but decided against it because I thought it wasn't worth the price. So, I got the biUbe and I am very satisfied.

I have had aquariums since I was young, and though I am no expert by any means, I know that the bigger the tank, the easier it is to maintain. The problem is, I really couldn't fit anything too big in my little bedroom so I thought this aquarium would be perfect and it is. When doing my research, some people advised against these kinds of aquariums, but the people who actually have the tank don't really have too many complaints about them. As long as you're patient and follow directions, you shouldn't have a problem.

I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of:

1.) The pump that comes with the aquarium is very loud and annoying. If you are putting your tank in a room with lots of white noise, then this shouldn't be a problem, but in a bedroom all I hear is a loud buzzing noise coming from the pump. I immediately replaced the pump with a different brand that produced less noise. Although most air pumps do submit some noise, compared to the one by Reef One, the new one is way better.

2.) The pump that comes with the tank is not known to last very long and requires a replacement within 6 months to a year (some people say less, they even tell you to keep a spare pump for this reason in the book). Do yourself a favor and just purchase the Tetra Whisper 10 gallon air pump here on amazon for $9.99. It's cheaper than biOrb's pump, last longer, and not as noisy. I bought 2 for that price.

3.) Reef One wants you to replace the filter too often and this can be pricey. Talk to some people who have had their biOrb for a while and they will tell you how to prolong the filter pad life.

4.) The aquarium is made of acrylic. While acrylic is much stronger than glass, it scratches so easily. Just be careful not to use anything to rough like paper towels or a rag. I brought a few microfiber clothes to clean the aquarium.

The above things are miner and can definitely be worked around. Just keep in mind that pretty much any aquarium smaller than a 20 or 30 gallon requires a little more time and effort.

Having known all this before I purchased my biUbe, I absolutely love my tank! It is very beautiful and doesn't take up too much room in my small bedroom because of its shape.

P.S. The title for the biUbe from amazon.com wrong. It actually comes with the biOrb Intelligent LED light not the halogen light.

UPDATE: Well, I have been having the tank for a few months now and I love it even more everyday. I actually prefer it over the biOrb Life 60, which I also have. I am up to 4 fish now (please follow the directions in only adding 1 or 2 small fish per month, otherwise your tank can crash, killing the fish, and go through a mini cycle if the bio-load gets too overwhelmed). I added a small internal filter behind my bubble tube cover just for some added filtration. If you are worried about the fish being distorted, it's really not that bad at all. You still get a very good view of the fish when they come swimming around. Remember, small tanks take a little more patience, so don't be in a hurry to get a full stock right after your tank is done cycling. Take your time and enjoy!

Most little tanks look like they belong on a 9 year old's night stand. This one, thankfully, does not. It is artistic in it's design but it does not hinder you from actually keeping fish. I have it on a little table in my office and it's just the right amount of size for that space.

Simple to put to together, and very low-maintenance. It takes about 5-10 minutes a week to do a water change. Changing the filter is a snap -just pull out the tube and twist off the filter. Put the new one on and put it back. That's it.

I have a heater in mine so i can keep tropical fish. Doesn't take too big of one to heat this baby.

The vertical configuration makes it slightly tricky to get decor to work right, but i've found that the smaller stuff works just fine if you plan it right.

The LED lights that come with this are awesome. You can set it to many different settings of timing for your sunrise/sunset routine. The weirdest thing is that it goes from 8 hrs to 14 hrs of daylight for a choice with nothing in between. But the light really enhances the fish -and the pure clear outside allows them to really show up well.

I've seen a few reviews on amazon (for other colors) that were so negative it's hard to believe it's the same item. People blaming the Biube for killing their fish? Really? It's a plastic tube with a pump and rocks. The only issues i've had were smaller fish trying to dig into the rocks for food and getting stuck as the rocks are like volcanic rock and not small smooth pebbles. This is to enhance the natural bio filter.

Anyway I highly recommend this tank. I want to get another one.

The clear plexiglass of this tank makes it almost transparent, so you can see the fish really well. Since it has less filtering (out of the box) than a regular tank, it is important not to overload it with too many (or too large) fish. I modified it by using smaller gravel over the rocks that come with it, because the rocks (which are necessary for the biological filter) are quite ugly and excess food gets trapped in it. I also added a small Tom filter (the smallest one, it's only

Aquatic Life 72-Watt Light Aquarium Light, 48-Inch, White/Blue/Purple

Aquatic Life 72-Watt Light Aquarium Light, 48-Inch, White/Blue/PurpleFirst off, I should note that the unit I received from Amazon was broken. Both the internal and external packing looked fine, but when unboxed the light, three of the LED "sockets" on one of the ends were broken off the entire plastic housing for the LED was cracked off the base plate. The LEDs in question still worked, they were just pointed askew.

Secondly, I picked up this unit in hopes that I might have found a replacement for my Finnex Ray2 Aquarium Day/Actinic LED Light, 48-Inch which had a bad habit of shocking me. Unfortunately, this unit produced far less light than the Finnex. If you'll notice, this unit only has 72 LEDs and as far as I could tell, they weren't the high-output LEDs either (the Finnex has around 380 HO LEDs). The color blend it produced was nice, but simply wasn't strong enough. On the plus side, where the Finnex's light is pretty concentrated, the lens domes on the Aquatic Life unit did allow for full coverage of my 12" wide tank (ie: light hit everywhere). Also, while I'm not sure what exactly caused the LEDs to break on my unit, the aluminum housing felt like a tank. The glass shield did feel a bit flimsy like glass you'd fine in a picture frame. It was also a bit loose fitting and rattled when moving the unit around.

All-in-all, I'd call the unit "ok" it'd probably do well enough in a fish-only tank with additional spot lighting. However, I don't believe it puts out enough light to sustain coral growth.

Microbe-Lift Special Blend for Home Aquariums

Microbe-Lift Special Blend for Home Aquariums, 16-OunceThis is by far the most effective aquarium additive I have ever used. It's speeds up the cycle and significantly reduces the frequency of water changes ... without polluting the water with chemicals. I still test my water regularly just less water changes. There's really no need to add anything else. Highly recommend.

After using Microbe Lift PL in my pond, I found out about Microbe Lift's in-home products. True to form, the aquarium products stink just as much as the pond stuff (the smell goes away after a few minutes), but it works wonders! Crystal clear water; reduced algal growth in my 125 gal. fresh water, and 50 gal reef-tanks; and and vibrant, healthy, active fish.

100% natural and I swear by these products.

I was looking for a product that would extend water changes in my fresh water fish tank and create a healthy environment for my fish. When I was at Petco, they recommended Microbe-Lift Special Blend. I used it as instructed and this product is excellent. The water is crystal clear and I haven't changed the water in 4 months; it says you can go up to 6 months. This product does smell like rotten eggs, which is normal; however the smell goes away within minutes. I highly recommend this product for anyone who is tired of water changes and wants a healthy environment for their fish. The product sates you can use this for salt water fresh as well.

Found this stuff at PetCo and gave it a try, I love it. It smells horrible, but it works. I have 5 aquariums from 150g to 10g, had no problems at all. I bought niteout originally but Special Blend alone has worked for me. Never had any water problems. I recommend this over all other bacteria supplements. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

This product does have a bad smell at first that dissipates quickly. Hydrogen Sulfide (the source of that rotten egg smell) induces a state of "hibernation" so the bacteria survive longer. It is added as a type of preservative if you will. I crack the top, measure it out, quickly re-cap the bottle and then toss my dose in the tank. The smell lingers in the room for just a bit but it doesn't make your tank water stink. Once the process of opening the bottle and kicking up that smell is over and airs out I don't have any smell sticking around. My ammonia and nitrites are both at 0ppm with nitrates 30ppm. For the first time in 5 years my plants are growing instead of keeling over on me. I haven't been using it long, but I'm really glad I found it. Smell aside :)

HDE Digital Timer Aquarium Automatic Food Portion Fish Feeder

HDE Digital Timer Aquarium Automatic Food Portion Fish Feederhave had this feeder for around 4 months. it is wonderful! i have a crazy schedule and depend on this to feed my fish. my only disappointment is how easy it is to change the feed adjuster. barely bump it and it changes the amount of food that is dropped. i finally got it set to where i wanted it and taped it down so i dont have to reset each time i remove the feeder to clean tank and refill.

I left for a 2 week trip and it worked great. When we got home I was worried about dead fish and frogs and they were all alive. The 2 things I don't like is you have to leave the tip of the aquarium lid open. But for an inexpensive way to make sure your fish are fed it works. It did not come with instructions on how to work it and that was frustrating but luckily we could get online to look. I would recommend this product if you don't have expensive fish and if you did I would recommend looking else where. We have a 10 gallon tank and they were set up to be fed twice a day.

This item did not come with a manual but was not too hard to figure out. However, it would not cycle to dispense the food at any of the Pre programmed times. It would work in the manual mode but obviously defeats the purpose. I sent back the first one and was sent a replacement which also failed to work. Not worth the shipping costs to send it back for a refund. Go to a local pet store and buy one off the shelf.

not to bad just a little more work than I expected to program. and if you use flake food you need to grind it to a power or it will clog the feeder and your fish will starve. but still a little commin cence and all will be fine.

At first, I thought that since this product is cheap it is not going to have a good quality. But, I proved it wrong. It has a very good quality and works properly. I have been using this product for more than a month and it is awesome. The fishes are healthy and I dont have to worry that my fishes will be hungry. One thing that is kinda hard is to set up the feeding time. However, once you have read the instruction manual, it will be clear.
