Aquarius Aq360-2g Gloview 2-Gallon Aquarium Kit

Aquarius Aq360-2g Gloview 2-Gallon Aquarium KitI bought the Petco version of this aquarium. It is small. It was able to house 1 goldfish and 2 african dwarf frogs. The included filter is not very good, as this was expected for a very inexpensive kit.

I tried to use a Tetra Whisper In-Tank Filter 3I, 1 to 3-Gallon, which wasnt very effective. Your best bet is to get a decent HOB. The cutout in the cover is very small, so make sure the filter will fit. My AZOO Mignon Filter 60 works great, but is too big for the cutout.

Eventually, I ended up returning this tank and got a Aquarius Aq15005 Aquarius 5 Rounded 5-Gallon Aquarium Kit, which gives you a lot more room for the same price.

This product came with a visible crack in the bottom. I then ordered a similar replacement product from the same manufacturer and the pump did not work properly on that one.

I like this product because it was easy to assemble and my fish likes it. But my only dislike is that it is kinda small

SpongeBob @ Home Tank

SpongeBob @ Home TankMy opinion: save the $50 and peice together a five-gallon glass setup

We recently purchased this aquarium for our daughter who happens to be a Spongebob fan. For its purposes, I suppose it is ok, but be warned. It really can only function as a goldfish/betta aquarium as it has no heater. There is only about enough space for 2-3 small fish (but remember bettas are territorial and will kill each other), or one decent sized goldfish. The rocks that come with the kit are only about enough to cover the bottom, but definately leave some open spots. These are somewhat nit-picky, but there is a pretty big issue. The plastic/acrylic material this tank is molded in is too thin. We put approximately 3 1/2 gallons in the tank, and it cracked near the top spilling water. We promptly returned it and replaced it. The second one did the same thing. Even the lid feels cheap and flimsy. My daughter loves the aquarium however, and luckily the crack was on the backside, so a little duct tape cured the issue for the time being. Can't wait to get rid of this though.

TetraPond Bottom Drain

TetraPond Bottom DrainI decided to enlarge my Koi pond from 1600 gallons to 6000 gallons and after having a pond for several years, I decided to install two bottom drains under the pond to assist with keeping the water clear and free of fish waste. Using a skimmer that removes the top layer of water and anything floating is great, (I still have a skimmer attached) but having the bottom drain means that all the leaves and "mess" that settles on the bottom of the pond is now gone and I do not have to worry about renting or buying a vacuum to clean out the pond every year.

And for those of you out there that are concerned about putting a hole in the bottom of your pond, the design of these drains is well thought out and the potential for leaks is extremely low. I have 81 koi in my pond and I would never do anything that would jeapordize their survival. I have a cleaner pond and could not be happier.

I am using this for a drain in my small duck pond and it is working GREAT.

Tetra Waterfall Globe Aquarium

Tetra Waterfall Globe AquariumI decided to buy this after I saw the price and several good reviews.I have had this aquarium for a few weeks, now I can personally say my Betta has never been happier in his new home. He swims around more, instead of sitting on the leaf of one of the plants in it, like he did in his old 1 gallon bowl. I personally like the sleekness of the design. It looks great in my room. It having a single cord to power both the light and the filter is a great feature. The Instructions are in English and Spanish and very easy to read with detailed pictures. The only two replacement parts for it are the Glass bowl and the power cord. The filter is, I believe, the Tetra Whisper 3i filter. The only difference I see is that it is powered by a very quiet impeller that attaches to the bottom of the filter instead of an annoying air pump. The filter cartridges (Use the Tetra 3i filter cartridges) are suppose to last about a month each and it comes with one filter cartridge. The Waterfall is also relaxing, oxygenates the water and removes chlorine and the fishy smell. The waterfall looks just as it does in the picture, by the way. I thought it would be more of a drizzle, but I was wrong. I'll list everything out for you:

CONS:

-Glass bowl had some imperfectionsslightly warped (But not very noticeable) lip and 2 weird air bubble-looking things I found. At first I thought it was an air bubble inside that just stuck to the side of the bowl, but it actually was just imperfections in the glass. At least the glass bowl is replaceable.

The flat bottom of the glass bowl is only about 4-5 inches in diametermakes it harder to put some types of plants or ornaments in. you could put in more gravel, but you'll have to keep ornaments and plants toward the centerno big deal, really.

-The hinge on the light hood is a little loose and wobbly. It doesn't rattle, But I wouldn't be surprised if it is the first part that brakes. Nothing a little duct-tape and super glue won't fix. The rest of the plastic parts seem sturdy, otherwise.

PROS:

-Sleek

-QuietYou can only hear a faint hum when you are within 3-4 feet when it is dead-silent in the room.

-8 bright white LED lights give a nice "moon light" effect at night.

-Soothing Waterfall that also oxygenates the waterseriously, I had 2 Aponogeton plant bulbs in my old tank for 2 weeks and they haven't even started to sprout. 2 days after I put them in this bowl, they started growing, 3 days later, they were already 3 inches tall.

-Water stays crystal clear for months at a time.

-Easily change filter cartridges.

-Perfect for showing off exotic small fish. I wouldn't put more than 3 or 4 small fish in it, though.

-glass globe magnifies things when you look through it at the right angle.

-you can fill water up to the lip without worrying about the waterfall making it overflow.

-I think the current of the waterfall makes the fish more active. My Betta, Finwick, was always kind of lazy in his old bowl, he would swim around sometimes, but usually just hung out on a leaf on one of the fake plants that was in it. In this bowl/aquarium (I honestly don't know whether to call this a bowl or an aquarium) he is almost always swimming around, otherwise he is hanging out on his favorite leaf.

SUGGESTIONS:

-If you plan on putting a Betta or any other type of fish that is use to having little or no current, Try filling up the bowl to the lip. This will keep the current coming from the waterfall low and it also looks good. Not better or worse, but good

-If you find that your filter cartridge (Tetra Whisper Bio-Bag Cartridge small, 2-Pack) needs to be replaced, but you don't have any replacement cartridges on you at the moment: unplug the power cord; remove the "spent" filter cartridge; rinse it in the sink with the Cotton meshy side facing up, this will remove some of the gunk that prevents the water from flowing easily through it. The carbon bits that are in it will probably be spent so it won't remove chlorine or the fishy smell, but it is a good temporary fix that will keep large particles from floating around in the tank.. Stock up on filter cartridges to prevent this from ever needing to be done. I can only find them in packs of 2 on Amazon, but they are nice and cheap.

OVERALL: I am VERY pleased with my purchase and am now a fan of Tetra products. This is definitely a well-built/designed aquarium. I definitely recommend it to anybody and everybody. I will make a review video when I have to replace the first filter cartridge.

Oh and you don't have to worry about your fish being sucked into the impeller. It has a guard on it and even if it did, the water will still be crystal clear when you notice your fish is gone.

Also, the sculpture in the center of my aquarium is the Marina 12205 Betta Kit Marble Sculpture.

I was a little leery of this fish bowl at first, after all, neatly designed things such as this usually end up being junk. However, I was very surprised when it arrived and I got it all set up. It is well made and seems to be good quality. I like the one electrical plug design, which was a selling feature for me. The filter and the LED lighting both work off of the same plug. The base is sturdy and has built in hand grips for easy moving. The filter housing and assembly snap off easily and go back on easily for cleanings, however, the carbon filter pad makes cleanings far less frequent. It also has the option to add a heater in it, for those looking to put tropical fish in it.

Overall the design and functionality is really good. I'm very happy with my purchase and my betta seems to be very happy in his new home. The only thing I will mention is that the glass bowl is thin, so cleaning it requires some extra attention and handling. However, overall, you will be very happy with this item.

This bowl sits in my office on my desk. Everyone comments on how beautiful it looks. The waterfall is very soothing. A classy display on the whole for a very good price. The size is excellent for my desk.

My Betta fish seems very happy in it and has actually grown from the increase in the size of his environment. He was a bit afraid of the running water at first, but has adjusted nicely.

If I could change it at all, I would like to be able to turn off the waterfall, but still be able to keep the lights on. Since they are wired together, they are either both on or both off.

I would also like to see a thicker glass. It is not as heavy as the usual one gallon glass bowls. But, for the money, this is a fabulous buy. No regrets.

When I ordered this set up I was very excited to receive it. I read all the reviews and took in everything that people commented on. When I got the bowl I noticed that it was in fact very thin and had a small bubble, this didn't bother me as it was expected. I made the mistake of not washing off the filter cartridge before I plugged in the tank and the water turned murky, once I took it out and washed it everything was fine. The waterfall is nice but it does splash water all over the place, I have the tank sitting on my dresser and had to put a cloth mat underneath it so it didn't warp my dresser. I don't think my fish really likes the waterfall either, he's always hiding from it so I only turn it on when I get home from work. This may differ from one fish to another. The first time I changed the water in the bowl I broke it. This was my mistake because I knew that the bowl was thin and I picked it up by the lip. Always pick up the bowl by the bottom and poor the water out or use a siphon to suck the water out. I was so bummed because I really like the set up so I immediately ordered another one because I couldn't find any replacement bowls online. Once I got the new set up I realized as I was reading the instructions that the replacement parts are listed on the instructions! OOPS!! Overall I give this aquarium three stars because I have had quite a few things go wrong but the look of the tank makes up for everything.

The globe glass has already broken three times, each time I have fixed with glass sealant. I don't even move or remove the glass. Weekly maintenance was through a siphon. When the globe cracked, I had to rescue the fish very quickly in another bowl, all the water was on the floor. It was a disaster. I even bought another globe from home goods, but only this thickness of the globe can be purchased, otherwise the filter clip doesn't fit. Go with something with a better shape for peace of mind

Seachem Prime Freshwater and Saltwater

Seachem Prime Freshwater and SaltwaterI was concerned when I tested my aquarium water and found that the ammonia wasn't 0.0 even though I have been consistent in doing weekly water changes. Just on a hunch, I went ahead and tested the water from my faucet. This is when I found out that my public water had ammonia in it. So now I just treat each water change with a drop of Seachem, and my water is consistently registering 0.0 for ammonia. This make me and my fish very happy!!!

TOM Aquarium Accessories Betta Security House with Lid - 4 compartments

TOM Aquarium Accessories Betta Security House with Lid - 4 compartmentsI'm so mad, this is a poor product the plastic compartment does not sit properly against the aquarium glass so there are gaps. I press the suctions cups as hard as a i could to eliminate the gap but over time they loose their suction. Needless to it is easy for fishes to escape which is what happened to mine. I have a 55 gallon fish tank and wanted this so i can start a female Betta fish colony, i bought 4 all female Betta fishes and wanted to put them on the Betta house before letting them out to the tank. The first night two got out, one killed the other one, so i had three left, the second night two of them got out again and another one got killed so now i have two left...........I'M SO MAD!!!!!!!! don't get this product bottom line it would not hold your fish.

I bought this & removed the dividers so it was one large separate enclosure. I had my male betta in it with a tank full of females. He was happy enough while it stayed attached to the side of the tank (all of about 30 minutes). After that, the suction cups came disconnected and females came in while he got out. Luckily I was right there or it could have had a very poor outcome for all the fish. Maybe if you can find a way to keep the suction cups attached it would be worth it. Otherwise, don't waste your money.

So, I bought this because this was the cheapest one I found. I had a single betta to test it out, and everything went fine. Until the next morning he was over in the last compartment. He jumped over the two dividers, I was so mad because what if I had another male betta in the other compartments, my betta would have been dead. Then I decided that I would my betta out of the security house and put another one in his place. Somehow he lifted the bottom up and got out. So I had two male betta's in one tank, so scary. I finally got him out with no fighting. I am returning this product and getting a refund. I am buying another one which looks more secure than this one.

THIS PRODUCT SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A PERMANENT HOME FOR ANY FISH! However, for temporary separation from tankmates without the stress of being removed from the community tank, this product fits the bill!

I have been looking for a way to photograph my male guppies without removing them from their tank (thus stressing them and causing their colors to fade) and this is PERFECT for that use! I do recommend removing the "barriers" though, as they are useless and there isn't enough room in each compartment for any fish to be comfortable.

I also used this as a drop tank for my females (with all of the barriers removed, of course!) and it allows the fry to escape from their hungry mothers without confining the female in one of those miserable little "Breeder Nets" that seem to stress the fish. The water flow into the box is great and the slots on the bottom are large enough that food particles, waste and baby fish all fall through easily.

I ordered this Heater bc It was cheap. Well, you get what you pay for. It works ok. It keeps my 20 gallon right at 82F. The problem is the cord. It's Very short and very cheap made. It doesnt stay plug into the wall I had to plug it into a ex cord and even then it wouldn't stay pluged in. I had bend apart the prongs and lay ex cord on top of my aquarium hood just to get it to stay plugged in. all in all it's OK for the price

Deluxe Bow Fluorescent Full Aquarium Hood, 36 Gal Black

Deluxe Bow Fluorescent Full Aquarium Hood, 36 Gal BlackI bought this product and it was delivered with speed to my house, however the cheap plastic tabs that hold the front of it together broke apart as i was setting it up.... WITH NO EFFORT! not really pleased about this.

I do not understand the negative reviews unless the others were damaged in shipment. Mine was perfect but in all fairness, It was wrapped in bubble wrap like Tutankhamen and put in a large box with lots of peanuts. This is the original hood that comes with this tank and stand set. I had to order it because the shop had no hood with my tank and stand causing it to marked down to 99 bucks from 250. The light is nice and bright. Brighter than incandescent bulbs by far and wide. It is not as nice as the glass hoods but that is an upgrade. It fits the tank like a glove.

biOrb Aquarium Kit with Light Fixture

Baby biOrb Aquarium with LED Light, Silver, 4 GallonsEDIT: this tank is NOT appropriate for bettas, the filter is too strong.

the tank was really simple to set up, if you follow the instructions there should be no issues

There are several things that you need to know about this tank.

This tank can hold either one beta, or 4-6 (really) small fish

the upkeep of this tank if done the way suggested is EXTREMELY expensive. It runs around 145$ a year.

However you can bring it down to less than 50$ if you follow these guidelines:

(I've added links to the products I mention on amazon, but if you want to save money buy them at the pet store)

a) DO NOT BUY MORE THAN ONE EXTRA FILTER AT A TIME. The filter for the biorb is pretty simple, it is a plastic canister filled with a blend of activated carbon and zeolite cristals topped with a foam ring. Instead of buying a new filter, the old one can easily be reused by washing out or replacing the foam insert and replacing the crystals with a generic blend from petco (the 10$ bottle should last at least year)PETCO Activated Carbon and Zeolite Crystals

b) replacement cartriges come with two different packages of chemicals, one is to make tap water safe for fish, and the other is to cultivate the bacteria needed to keep your tank clean. The first can be replaced by a bottle of tetra aqua safe plus (you can buy this for around $8)Tetra 8-4/9-Ounce AquaSafe Water Conditioner with BioExtract. The company that makes the biorb buys alot of their supplies from a company called API. you can buy a bottle of the bacteria booster at petco for around 10 15$ (it's called stress zymeAquarium Pharmaceuticals Stress Zyme 16oz)

c) if your bulb and the replacemment both die, the halogen bulbs are generic and can easily be purchased from third party vendors

THE GOOD

1) this tank is great for beginners

2) It looks AWESOME

3) fast setup

4) It looks AWESOME

5) easy to clean

6) the 5 step filtration system keeps water clear for several weeks

THE BAD

1) the tank does not come with enough ceramic media (the stuff at the bottom of the tank) You need to buy more. it also doesn't include any plants

2) older models of this tank came with a noisy air filter, this filter has been replaced with a much quieter one in newer models.

3) the bubbles from the air filter cause water to splash all over the top of the tank, this forms water droplets all around the tank above the water, this looks really unappealing and short of removing the air filter, I have not yet found a way to solve this issue.

4) the curved bowl acts as a magnifying glass, enlarging everything in your tank. it also creates blind spots.

5) If you leave the tank in direct sunlight the shape of the tank could act as a magnifying glass and set your desk on fire. =)

6) some people claim that fish get sucked into the filter, as there is no suction in this tank period, I believe their fish swam in. There is an optional air filter guard to prevent this from happening

Have to disagree with the other reviewer here ... I purchased a Baby biOrb recently for my new Betta, after having my first betta living in an airless bowl for a couple years. I simply got tired of cleaning a stinky bowl every week. As a result, I went shoppin for a new tank with a bubbler and filter system and found the Baby biOrb.

While I agree that the maintence costs are significant at $132/ year (if you need to change a filter every 4 weeks), the costs balance with ease of maintenance. Personally, my experience with cleaning the Baby biOrb was a snap with the optional suction hose. Took me fifteen minutes to clean the tank, drain the grimey water and add new water. Couldn't have been much easier. And, I am not sure how anyone could have a problem swapping filter cartriges unless they have motor skills issues.

I also built a noise dampening box for the air pump my only real complaint is that the "whisper quiet" pump sounds like a mini jackhammer after about five minutes.

Great product and looks awesome.

I totally recommend this aquarium kit for anyone just starting out in the fish-keeping hobby. Vitually everything you'll need comes in the box. However, when I bought my BiOrb a year ago, there was no heater included. If you want to keep tropical fish, you will likely need to purchase BiOrb's heater kit if they haven't yet decided to include a heater in the package. You can purchase a small heater at any good pet store, but it's likely to be a bit of an eyesore in the BiOrb.

I keep 3 dwarf African frogs and one dwarf puffer in the BiOrb and there is ample room. Cleaning day is about every 8 weeks and is generally only a matter of changing a few gallons of water and taking out the old filter cartridge and putting a new one in. The tank is well-aerated and you never see fish gasping for air at the top. Plus, it's a gorgeous tank.

My only complaint is that when I bought the BiOrb, I had no idea that they would soon come out with a 16-gallon version. I definitely would have gotten the larger tank, since with the smaller one, you have to severely limit the number of fish or aquatic creatures you keep in it. With the 16 gallon tank, you can have double the number of pets. Still, I'm very happy with my BiOrb.

Read Best Reviews of biOrb Aquarium Kit with Light Fixture Here

I have owned a Baby Biorb ($69.99) for 10 months now, and I am VERY UNhappy with it. Irreconciliable personality conflicts among fishmates prompted me to purchase a second acrylic tank (10 gallons at only $49.99) within 2 months of purchasing the Biorb, so I am able to report on the comparative performance of the 2 rival tanks. The Biorb is superior to the other tank in ONLY 2 ways: 1) Its silver plastic accents are more attractive than the standard black plastic accents of the 10-gallon tank; and 2) The Biorb's biological filtration system (the ceramic media foster bacterial growth and proliferation, unlike the plain gravel in my other tank) sped up the aquarium's cycling process, whereby the Biorb had fully matured in exactly HALF the time required by the other tank. Now for the BAD news: The Biorb's poorly engineered filter set-up necessitates lifting the soiled filter from the BOTTOM of the tank for replacement, at which time the disturbed filter releases appalling pollution into the tank. The replacement filter barely stands a chance of removing the residual pollution, let alone maintaining a healthy environment for the next "4 to 8 weeks." As a result, I am finding myself replacing the filter an average of every 2 to 3 weeks, which at $9.99 to $10.99 a pop becomes ridiculously expensive, and the aquarium's water is perpetually yellow and unattractive. The other tank, on the other hand, boasts a filter set-up on the SURFACE of the water. I simply lift out the soiled filter only $6.99 a pop and replace it. No harm done. While the makers of the Biorb claim that the 360-degree view it affords of the fish inside really places Biorb ahead of the competition, I find that my second all-clear hexagonal tank likewise boasts

a 360-degree view. If I had it to do over again, I would NOT invest in a Biorb. The long-term expense is prohibitive, and the performance is poor.

Want biOrb Aquarium Kit with Light Fixture Discount?

Okay, the people that are writing bad reviews for this product obviously have not followed the directions for the BiOrb tank. This is an awesome product! Yes, there is a limit to the number of fish that you can keep in this environment, but the amount of time that one would usually spend cleaning a fishtank is greatly reduced by the ease of the filter cartridges in the BiOrb tanks. If you understand the process and how the filtration system works, and you have the appropriate number of fish in the tank, and you do not overfeed the fish, you will have great success with this tank. In addition, it is such a beautiful tank. I have three of these tanks, one in each size (Baby BiOrb, BiOrb-8 gallon, and a Mega BiOrb) with two at home, and one in my office at work, and people have always complimented me on the tanks and want to know where they can get one themselves. Also, I would just like to note that I keep tropical fish in my tanks, swordtails, neon tetras and platys, and I have NEVER used the heater in either of my tanks. The fish do just fine in water that is room temperature and I live in the very seasonal northeast. I would only recommend using a BiOrb heater if the room you are keeping the BiOrb tank in is cold (unheated or if you keep your thermostat very low), otherwise, it is completely unnecessary.

Marina Deep Reach Algae Scrubber

Marina Deep Reach Algae ScrubberThe scrubbing pad works well, however the handle bends during cleaning. This makes it harder when scrubbing the corner & sides of the tank.

I bought this scrubber because I have a 24 inch deep tank and I am only 5'3" tall on a good day. It is the longest one I have found on the market and does a great job of cleaning the inside of my glass aquarium.

Lee's 20L/29 Economy Undergravel Filter, 1 Plate, 12-Inch by 30-InchThis product is just OK. The packaging is loose and ugly so the contents come scuffed and chipped, the quality of the plastic is poor so it breaks very easily when installing. The slits in the plate are too small and aren't ideal for letting particles through so they tend to stay in the gravel more than they should.
