AQUARIUS AQB001 Aqua Bowl 1-Gallon Fish Bowl with Lighted Hood

AQUARIUS AQB001 Aqua Bowl 1-Gallon Fish Bowl with Lighted HoodI ordered this my first aquarium. First, it came with no light. The description says it comes with a light bulb. I have called the manufacturer, and will update after I talked to them. Second, it didn't say this is was only for one fish. I wish it has said that in the description. Thirdly, it looked really cheap..but I guess what did I expect for $15. Well, I did expect a light in it.

Update: I contacted the manufacturer and they promptly sent out the light socket assembly set for the fishbowl. They were very courteous and the fishbowl looks much better now with the light.

I got this lid for my 15 gallon tank I keep my Pacman Frog in. The hinge makes it easy to drop crickets in, clean the cage, or move his scenery around. Despite how humid it is inside the lid hasn't rusted.

Want Zilla 11704 Fresh Air Screen Cover with Center Hinge, 12-Inch by 24-Inch Discount?

This is a well-built screen top I purchased for my gecko's terrarium. It sits securely on top of her home, just the right size. When it's time to feed my girl, the hinged top makes it easy to drop the crickets into her feeding bowl. Also makes it easy to fill her water bowl or perform maintenance without having to take the whole screen top off. The size of the screening is not so fine that it blocks UV lighting into the terrarium either. I can recommend this screen top for small to medium lizards. If they are larger than a leopard gecko, by all means invest in a pair or two of cage clips to fasten it securely in place.

overall i love it and do recommend it

seller made this easy to purchase and real fast shipping and over all a nice good looking back ground but the clips that is suppose to hold it to the tank failed or break also ther are no instrutions on how to install the back ground. this is the reason for 4 stars insteadof 5 stars

I got this for my bearded dragon's enclosure. He's just a baby so he climbs on everything.. including this rocky background. Its really funny to watch him taunt my cat as he climbs up and under my cat, who can't get to him because of the screen on top of the tank. This stuff is neat. The packaging was great! Its fairly easy to cut, if you have the proper tools. I used scissors, so it took me a little while, but it got the job done!

TOM Aquarium Maintenance Algae Scraper Multi Tool 22 Length

TOM Aquarium Maintenance Algae Scraper Multi Tool 22 LengthHard to believe you could get excited about an algae scraper! After using cheap things like sponges, kitchen brushes, etc. I decided to get one. It works great, you don't have to get your arms wet reaching to the back lower corners of the aquarium, and the attachments can be easily interchanged. The swivel head on the sponge attachment is very nice. Only one improvement would be adding a razor edge to the brush head. Just make sure you measure your tank to buy the correct size.

Just an FYI for the parts on this are interchangeable with the petco version of the product. I had the Petco telescoping handle but my blade broke so I ordered this with the handle just in case it didn't work but the scraper snapped into place without issues.

The only thing that doesn't work for my tank is the razor. My tank is oval in the front, and it is hard to scrape with the razor. It is also sometimes hard with the brush, but it gets the job done.

I was very dissappointed with this product. I have a 150gal tank which had some very heavy algae build up along the inside glass walls so purchased this item with the intent of using the razor blade attachment to scrape off the majority of the debris but discovered due to the flimsy plastic handle did not have the ability to do the job nor the scrub pad which was way too soft to work either. Got creative and found a 2ft 1/2" conduit pipe left over from an old electrical job a slide it down over the plastic handle. The pipe actually fit perfectly over the flimsy plastic handle and now I had the ridgid strength to scrape the glass walls better. This is the first product I purchased from Amazon that did not work as advertised. The company that designed this product must not have tested it much and don't recommend it at all.

Daily Double II Feeder - 3 1/2 in. x 3 1/2 in. x 4 in.

Daily Double II Feeder - 3 1/2 in. x 3 1/2 in. x 4 in.I thought this would be the solution to leaving my fish alone for a week. I tested the feeder for a week prior to leaving for vacation. Seeing that it worked properly I placed the feeder over the opening in my tank and left for vacation. The moisture that evaporates from the tank got into the feeder and made the flake food wet and unable to fall out the tube. Unfortunately all my fish died and I now know the reason no one has ever recommended this product to me before.

I bought this product because it is battery powered and inexpensive. Unfortunately, it required some tweaks before it became useful.

For the first month I used it exactly as intended with the uniformly small, round fish flakes. It has a basic quartz clock mechanism surrounded by plastic. This is the same clock mechanism that is used in do it yourself clock kits....quartz and made in Japan with a single AA battery. So it goes around once every 12 hours.

It suffers from one major problem...water moisture. When it is pointing down for roughly 4 out of the 12 hours, its orange tube consumes the water vapor that evaporates from the fish tank. The water is then channeled into the fish food where it builds up. After the first two weeks, the food was extra moist. By the third week the food was molding quickly. I repositioned it over the driest spot I could find and the mold began to proliferate after 4 weeks. Because the plastic unit is not sealed around the embedded square clock module, moisture had also seeped deep inside the mechanism, discovered when I went to check the battery.

I made two simple modifications that made this work like a charm:

(1) Open the black plastic housing that surrounds the clock module and seal the module with a bead of caulk. This will seal out the water from the module.

(2) Drill about 16 1/8th inch holes in the clear plastic cover, being careful not to drill through the orange tube. This will provide the necessary aeration to keep the food dry.

I've had it running now for over 6 months and the food is dry and the fish are happy. The manufacturer could have made these modifications for about 5 cents. Maybe they'll read this and improve their product.

One last note, be careful about removing the plastic lid to refill the food. The lid is held on by small plastic tabs that can easily break. Mine are still intact, but I'm extra careful.

I have had one of these for over a year and my fish are thriving! This is a classroom tank and is even left for weeks at a time over the summer; the feeder has never failed me. I do leave the lid of the tank as closed as possible without interfering with the feeder to avoid moisture in the feeder. I am actually visiting this sit right now to buy another feeder to attach to a send, new tank for my classroom.

I bought this for $11 and have been testing it for a week. The battery compartment is hopeless almost had to force the batteries in (and I did check to make sure I used the correct batteries). There is a tube inside the rotating drum which is probably driven by a typical clock mechanism. The tube has a cut-out that catches the fish food when it is at the 6 o'clock position and as it rotates to the 12 o'clock position, the food falls out of the other end of the tube into the water. This cut-out is far too small for typical flake food or 1/4" pellets. I had to chop the flakes into small bits so that the cut-out will collect the right amount of food.

Having done that I filled the drum with about a quarter full of food and put it the battery. Well, I hear ticking and put a tiny stick at the top of the drum to see if it actually rotates. Next morning, the stick is still there. Dead battery?? I try again with a brand new battery and hear ticking before I go away my marker is still there next morning.

I suppose the clock might be working but the mechanism that drives the drum is kaput.

I bought my feeder a week before my week-long trip home to visit my family (I am a college student living in an apartment). I followed the instructions and planned on testing it for a week to make sure it would work before my trip. It worked one time (as in one feeding), and then stopped turning and clicking completely. Having limited access to transportation, and any additional funds for that matter, I was unable to buy another feeder and had to beg a friend to come over and feed my fish for 7 days straight.

Not only that, but I looked for a phone number on the packaging/instructions to call and take advantage of the warranty only (surprise, surprise) to find one not listed anywhere on the packaging/instructions. After finding the Penn Plex website, I called the customer service line. Evidently no one works there, as after 45 minutes I still was not able to speak to anyone. Apparently they just expect you to pay for shipping and send it back to them without any contact whatsoever.

Not only do I suggest never buying this product, but I suggest never buying any Penn Plex product as they apparently neither invest time in the quality of their product or their customer service. I bought a slightly more expensive feeder later that I have had no problems with and has more features, don't waste your time with this thing.

2W Fish Aquarium Tank 2 Mode 28 LED Clip Lamp Flexible Energy Saving Light

2W Fish Aquarium Tank 2 Mode 28 LED Clip Lamp Flexible Energy Saving LightThis light has worked perfectly for my 4 gallon planted shrimp aquarium. Its bright enough for the plants to grow but not too bright as to encourage algae growth. The price cannot be beat!

It has three light settings; off, dim, and bright. Dim has the right dimness and bright is bright enough to lit a small aquarium. Build quality seems good, too.

Marina Easy Clean Gravel Cleaner

Marina Easy Clean Gravel Cleaner, LargeI bought this locally to clean my 125 gallon community tank and it performs every bit as well as I could have expected. Despite my thinking it was hokey, the self priming feature works quite well and I definitely enjoy it. I was previously used to various cleaners that employed a round final tube but I've found the oval shape on the Hagen to be quite handy especially in a heavily (silk) planted tank like mine. The oval shape allows me to get into nooks and crannies the the standard round tubes wouldn't. The gravel/fish guard employed at the junction of the final tube to flexible tube is both reassuring and handy. The materials seem to be quality and I feel they will go the distance which leads me to say I'd definitely buy this again and won't hesitate to recommend it to friends. Highly recommended.

I bought this to clean out a one gallon tank that has 2 snails in it. I found it very hard to get started, as the instructions say to move the tube up and down rapidly, and that the water will start to siphon. I tried this for a long time, and could not get it to do more than a few seconds of dribble. But I went on youtube and found instructional videos from other people who are familiar with these siphons. I tried the same technique again after watching them do it, and I moved a tank decoration out of the way to give myself some more space. I got it to work within 30 seconds! With such a small tank, the water level was draining low quickly (snails don't mind too much, but don't do this with fish). It vacuumed up a lot of debris, but I did not have enough time to get all of it, before I was dealing with too low of a water level. All that moving it up and down stirred up a lot of mess, but I think now that I have the idea, I can do this every couple weeks until I am satisfied that I have gotten most of the mess out of there. I added in some fresh water to replace what was removed, and all done. Overall, I was pleased with how it worked, once I got it going. If you are not getting a rapid flow, and not picking up gravel (which falls back down into the tank), then you don't have it working right. Keep trying, and watch a video or two.

Works well for my 10 gallon. I just place a bucket on one end and place the tube in the tank. By suctioning some sand, you'll be able to clean the 'gravel' or sand in my case.

Sometimes it doesn't always work that well but for the most part, its great for water changes and mild seafloor cleaning.

I should have listened to the other reviews complaining about the lack of power.

What it really boils down to (IMO) is that the valve is poorly designed. It relies on the grate to be perfectly tight in order to prevent backflow. Gotta check that grate before every water change!! Even when the valve is working, it is very difficult to start via any of the three common methods.

Another major flaw is the lack of an angle at the input end. I find there is no effective suction until the entire oval is pressed against the gravel surface, which is difficult when there is no angle.

Lastly, the large diameter hose pulls water way too quickly. The combination of no angle with large hose turns this is a rapid siphon. This leaves me rushing to clean what I can before the bucket is full.

Perhaps I got spoiled with my old Fluval vac, but its smaller hose gave me plenty of time to dig around and loosen detris. Too bad they don't make a longer one. My hunt for a good 24" gravel vac continues.

It was my first time using a gravel cleaner and due to some boy, I was not given the packaging or instructions. Of course said boy could not get it to work properly, blaming improper instructions. ANYWAY, a simple YouTube search yield a variety of results and after a few minutes, I got the technique down and water was flowing. There is a small learning curve for first-time siphon users. To get most of the crap (and I do mean crap) out from the gravel, giving the gravel a nice stir is helpful to release all the nasty things that have sink in over the course of the week(s). Right after you're done (or as done as you want to be), the water is going to be quite murky until everything is settle again. Do keep in mind, this is to help vacuum stuff out from the gravelit will never be 100% clean (unless you start fresh but that is not necessarily good for your aquarium & its inhabitants). Its able to suck up a lot of particles and poo. It does not do so well with bits of fish parts (I have turtles. They eat fishes. Turtles can be messy eaters). My aquarium is cleaner, water cleaner, and turtles are probably happier. yay.

Cal Pump PW5500 5,500 GPH 3/4 HP Waterfall Pump

Cal Pump PW5500 5,500 GPH 3/4 HP Waterfall PumpWe have a large pond with a creek and multiple waterfalls. We run two of these at a time and as already stated, pump will last between 1-2 years, that's it. I've done all the recommendations (run at least once a week, clean often, don't allow to freeze, etc.) and still the pump fails at regular intervals. Seems to be no rhyme or reason to the failures. I use to pull the pumps during the winter, put in buckets and run once a week as recommended, made no diff. We now leave in pond all year around and run during the winter, weather permitting. Few years back we had a really bad winter and couldn't run for roughly three months. When we could run they ran fine through that summer, no problems. This last year I had one go out January, put another in and it died in May. This is a great pump when it works and have been unable to find another as good for the price. I've resigned myself to the fact I'll be purchasing at least one pump each year and mark it up as the price I must pay to enjoy a margarita while listening to waterfalls, a babbling brook, all the while watching fish swim and lilies bloom!

P.S. I emailed the manufacture at one point and was told "Normally, the PW pumps last for several years". Does that mean two? :) Also, according to the manufacture (same email), these pumps cannot be rebuilt, "Unfortunately, we do not have a repair program. The PW Series pumps are sealed units and in most cases the repair cost would be short of a new pump."

I bought two of these pumps and both failed. The motor froze up on the first one after a couple years. With a wrench on the impeller nut I could not get the motor to budge. I ran the pump about 4 hours a week. I bought a second because the pump moved a lot of water for its price and I had been happy with it. Unfortunately after a year the second pump stopped and would just hum. I took the screen off and if I turned the impeller manually it would start running. Each time I turned off the power and turned it on again it would not turn over until I gave the impeller a spin. I opened the unit up and as soon as I did I could smell burnt electric parts. Two down. Note I do have another fountain with the same pump and it has been working fine for four years. It is only run about 8 hours a month so not a lot of use in this one.

I purchased the first one here from Ponds 123, 7 months later it began tripping the gfi then quit altogether. After filling out a questionnaire, they sent a replacement, postage paid by me, I received it in early February of this year. 3 days ago that one quit too!! Ponds 123 refuses to replace the second one because it is now 1 month outside the combined warranty period calculated from the original purchase date of the first pump. I guess they make enough money selling two pumps per year, and getting no return customers! I would never buy another one of these pumps, nor anything from Ponds 123 again! I vote with my business.

Freshwater Plant CO2 Indicator with Solution Aquarium

Freshwater Plant CO2 Indicator with Solution AquariumMixed feelings on this product. The indicator viewer is excellent. The solution though is from an accuracy standpoint, not the best. A 4dKh water should be mixed with solution, not your aquarium water, which is possibly of unknown hardness/quality. All in all for the price not bad. I did buy it just for the viewer.
