Very much disappointed with the Given-Arts Aquarium Fish Tank Silicone Sea Anemone Artificial Coral Ornament SH237 pu. The picture made it look very nice, when I received the item, very cheap looking; very poorly made. Definately not worth what I paid for it.

This was beautiful when I first received it. It took my breath away,,, but after a week in my tank the color faded from purple to pink. I still like it but just a little dissapointed.

this is by far the wrost experience ever, i bought this item rinsed it off put it in the tank and went out to dinner with my wife and kid upon returning home all our fish were either dead or dying and my wife and 12 year old started crying and my son said "noooo not my fish" thanks alot given arts for selling toxic crap. when i removed this item from the tank is smelled like some crazy chemical gas was coming from it as it sits here on my desk while i type this its giving me a headache ! i would highly suggest nobody buys anything from this company unless you want to tramatize yourself and family . i have had my 100 gallon saltwater tank for 20 years and some of my fish were very sentimental to us . I like this anemone. I like it's color and the size as well. I agree with the others saying that it has a very strong smell to it. Frankly I don't care about it if the fish don't care about it. Petco Suction Cups for Aquarium Heaters

The ones I received were not at all as in the photo or as in the item description. They were all in one piece. The ring to fit around the heater did NOT have a gap, but rather was all one continuous ring with no way to enlarge or adjust the size and thus way too small to fit around my aquarium heater. They were totally useless to me. And I have a Eheim 100W heater, no larger than the average heater. I don't like to give negative reviews, but beware ordering these as you may get something totally different than what you expect that will not work for you. For my purposes they are absolute junk. Maybe I'll find some other use for them sometime, but they won't be holding my aquarium heater.

the suction cups are permanently attached to the clips which go around the heater entirely (different from image). they are clear which has a nicer look. the suction cups work very well.

Coralife 10000K T-5 High Output Fluorescent Lamp

We recently orded 2 sets of bulbs. One set from another company was not packaged well and came to us completely broken. However, this MarineandReef's packaging was superb! It was packaged with brown paper to keep them from rattling around and the bulbs were also wrapped in bubble wrap. I have already ordered two more bulbs from them (to replace the other broken ones).

This is a great bulb for the T-5 light fixture. The light is bright and the corals look buestiful under them.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE.....The item is not even close to 36". It's only 33" and not to mention, way to small to even fit into the strip light itself. Now I have to deal with returning this and waiting for a refund. I thought maybe I'd save some money but it turns out, I'm wasting not only money but also my time with this. First ever bad experience with purchasing online from any site.

Note to the seller: Do us all a favor and edit your original post to say it's only 33" and that it will NOT fit into a 36" strip light.

Eclipse Aquarium Filtration and Lighting System

I recently purchased this hood and paired it with a 20 gal glass tank. This is my first tank and I've found it to be very easy and hassle free. The tank stays very clean and clear and the fish seem to be very healthy and happy. It may be a little pricey compared to a standard setup, but for me, the ease of use and convenience of having everything in one package is worth it. And the top access makes maintenance easy. I currently have 5 zebra danios, 6 cory cats and 3 oto cats in the tank and all seem to be doing very well. I would highly recommend this item for the beginner.

I would also highly recommed purchasing and studying several books on fishkeeping (I bought and read at least 4) before purchasing any system and definitely before purchasing any fish!

Yes, I noticed the rattling problem with the pump. It seems that if the impeller isn't inserted just right then there is this really annoying grating noise that over time will drive you nuts. But the solution is simple, take it apart, make sure everything is clean and spinning freely and just start it up again (something you will need to do anyway from time to time for maintenance).

I find the filter setup to work well though, and the overall design to be quite good.

The lighting? Whether you like it or not depends on whether you want real plants or not. 36 watts for a 25 gallon tank, like mine, is not going to cut it. So you have to find a retrofit system. Sunpaq has some options, but you're going to have to be fairly handy with some tools.

I ended up just removing the stock lighting and then cutting out a slot from both the front and back lift up covers and sticking a Coralife 130w unit over the top of the whole thing. About 5 watts per gallon will "get-er-done".

My advise to the Marineland people is to have some different lighting options available for their all-in-one hoods. I think they'd sell more, or at least be able to sell some retrofits or upgrades once people figure out that the stock system has these limitations. As is, the retrofits are coming from other companies.

I bought the thing because the sales dude told me I could upgrade the lighting later. He either knowingly lied, or didn't explain that I would be looking at an exciting retrofit project. ;o)

I purchased this tank 9 months ago and have been fairly happy with it. It looks nice. I love the rounded corners which look much better than the glued glass panes. The acrylic material is still holding up, but I am a lot more careful cleaning it than with glass. The only problem I've had with this unit is a rattling noise that seems to come from the hood. It can be quite for 10 minutes to a couple of days. Then it starts rattling. I adjust the hood and it goes away. Lately, in the last couple of weeks the pump has started with some serious rattling which I can't get rid of. It annoys me and I am sure the fish are even more annoyed. I cleaned the impeller and every surface of the pump, but without luck. So I think I have to go buy a new pump.

baby biOrb 4-Gallon Moonlight Aquarium with Light Fixture

I have one of these (the earlier version, no moonlight) in my office on my desk. I love it! I keep one gorgeous male betta in it and he is thriving. The pump is extremely quiet. I don't worry about keeping the pump above the water level and it works just fine. The provided gravel is part of the filtration system; you can cover it with large, shiny rocks but I don't mind how it looks on its own. I really enjoy the decorations you can use in the baby biOrb; I have the small grass ring that goes over the bubble tube in the center and several bright, weighted "plants". Haven't tried the fuzzy ball decorations yet but I will when I get tired of the current set-up. My betta seems very healthy and happy. I keep the water level lower than recommended so he has plenty of surface where he can get air. This has been a very peaceful, pretty addition to my office.

Looks great on a high coffee table and even the anti-fish husband gave it a compliment on how cool the night light looks.

Pretty low maintenance with 25% water changes weekly and fully changes one a month it almost looks after itself its so easy. You can probably reuse the filters if you clean them and add new media.

I added a heater, skipped the biorb stones for petshop cheaper ones, I decided on real plants, a betta, some red cherry shrimp, adding a top to the bubbler and a valve which means my betta has no problems with the current & his long fins (he is a halfmoon and currently flaring right next to the air vent the cheeky minx!).

One note for anyone buying this. Buy a valve for your pump or you may find the water siphons back into it when you switch it off $2.00 well spent!

Both packaging and website description are misleading. The photos don't show the air tubing and power cord which are unsightly and make it very difficult to place in your home. The external tubing and air pump unit are supposed to be placed higher than the water level! Also, the supplied media is unattractive and is the only media (gravel) they recommend using (it's brown). I definitely expected a better product for the money it cost. I sent my baby biOrb back..and really wouldn't recommend this product.

I transferred my betta into this tank after about a year in a much smaller (and cheaper) filtered tank and I am so happy I decided to get it. There isn't much light in my apartment so the moonlight feature stays on all the time, which is fine; but it looks especially beautiful at night. I decided not to buy biorb decorations or rocks just because I already had some and honestly they were a bit pricey for my taste anyways. This tank is also a bit expensive, but it's totally worth it. It not only looks great, but it is very functional. The filter works great and cleaning is easy. I've had the tank for about a month now and I would gladly recommend it to anyone looking to buy. I would definitely buy from Biorb again in the future.

I've been very happy with this tank but the moonlight feature was a waste. Because I keep it pretty far away from windows, the regular daylight wasn't enough to trigger the switch from moonlight to daylight. I had to keep a lamp on to keep the tank light on, which is pretty silly. There is an option for manual on/off but then you give up the moonlight... either both lights are on, or neither. If you get enough light in the room, this could work for you. But the directions caution against keeping it in direct sunlight because the curve of the tank could cause a fire.

Coralife 08616 Desert T8 Light Fixture, 24-Inch

Just FYI This fixture is slightly under 24" in length and comes with a 18" bulb. If you're looking for a fixture for a 24" bulb, this isn't it. Also, this is made to sit on top of a screen/mesh tank cover rather than be mounted directly. It has a standard 2-prong plug and a basic on/off switch on the main unit (not on the cord).

Works well enough, but due to the lack of info in the description, it's not what I had intended to order.

Lights up my tank way better then with just a dome. My beardie loves it. The better setting seems to have perked him up a bit more.

I am giving this 1 star because none of my goldfish will eat this stuff. I have 30 goldfish in an outdoor pond. I fed this to them and for whatever reason they will not eat it. Its been 3 days now and the food is still at the bottom of the pond uneaten. Maybe you may have better luck than I did. The only plus to this is the container is large and u get a lot for your money. Super Naturals Tahitian Moon Aquarium Sand, 20 Lb, 19 X 12 X 1.75

Tahitian moon sand is probably the best looking black sand on the market.

CONS;

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it is not good with plants. Like all inert sand, "mulm" (fish waste) isn't able to penetrate the substrate, and the plant roots don't get enough nutrients. I tried using root tab fertilizers, but the sand, in effect, suffocates the roots by not allowing them to spread and grow. SeaChem makes a "flourite black sand" product for a little more, and this is great for plants. However, the grain size is much larger than the TMS.

PROS;

My fish love this stuff, as do I. I like watching my corydoras bury their noses in this sand. They scour the tank for food like little vacuum cleaners, sifting sand through their gills. The deep black really brings out the colors of cichlids and tropical fish.

Be prepared to do some rinsing when you get it. I rinsed it all in a big bucket; it must have taken 20 water changes to clear all the black "dust".

This sand is sure to make any tank look amazing.

I wanted to experiment and go for black sand in my aquarium as opposed to the started blue rocks I usually have. I, unfortunately, didn't like the way it looked. It's really nice, grainy sand that has a classy look to it, but I felt it really darkened my aquarium too much despite its shine.

I bought 20 lbs for my new 29-gallon tank. At that shallow depth, I had to anchor a couple of artificial plants with small stones at their base but that's okay as that just adds to the decor. The sand is super soft and and I only had to rinse it once before adding. Directions with my Whisper filter says not to use with sand but it hasn't been a problem. When cleaning, I rotate the vacuum tube a couple of inches above the sand so I scoop up only the tiniest bit. The black against the green plants, the blue background, and my gold comet make a beautiful contrast. Doesn't seem to bother the fish although when he first went into the tank, I saw him spit some out. I would definitely recommend this over gravel.

Aqueon Large Siphon Vacuum Aquarium Gravel Cleaner

I bought this locally and used it in a tall 36 gallon tank. It's the right size, takes bit of violent shaking to get the suction going, and then vacuums well. Two problems: First, the brittle plastic suctioning end chips and breaks. Secondly, the blue cap that connects the large suctioning tube and the small flexible outflow tube became lose and fell off after about 1-2 months. I won't be buying this again.

Siphon works great, just as it should. However, I overall do not like the product. The tubing is very large making it difficult to control the large flow of water coming out. This prevents me from working delicate areas that need cleaning during a water change. The tube is also what I consider too short. I had to go to a home supply store, by a length of hose a couple feet longer to make it more usable. The bucket clip slides right off, which doesn't actually hold the hose in the bucket. I have owned other siphons that don't have this little issues. So in summary, I am using only the 16'' tube, my own tubing, and a old recycled bucket clip that actually holds the tubing in the bucket. Works for now, but I would encourage anyone else to keep looking.

It's a large siphon that does what it's supposed to. The shake to start can be a pain but if you follow the directions it seems to work. Nice large hose moves water fast, almost too fast so it's great for draining tanks. If you're cleaning it can drain water too fast. I make sure to keep a finger close to the end so I can shut it down and restrict flow if needed.

While the concept is great, the execution stinks like a pile of mixed meat sitting in the sun for days. First off, the hose is way too short for a large tank. Secondly, the syphon sucks......wait...I mean.....it doesn't SUCK! After a few uses, the syphon pump stopped working so I had to resort to the old fashioned mouth way. Thirdly, the connections are weak and they often come off while cleaning the tank. This is a huge waste of money. Don't buy.

Lifegard Aquatics 2-Inch Standard Threaded Bulkhead

I had a bulk head in place that was a little leaky. When I got this in I was afraid it would have the same issue due to the hardness of the seal ring but it actaully fit in place and isn't leaking for about 4 months now.

I purchased this "Threaded Bulkhead" for my above ground swimming pool plumbing needs. Although the bulk head is working, the only standard thing on it is that you can slip 2" pipe inside the back side of the fitting. The inside threads are designed for something other than 2" pipe thread and my local exclusive plumbing supply store, that has practically every conceivable type of pipe fitting on the planet, was baffled as to the thread spacing. If you don't need to attach any plumbing to the inside of whatever your using this bulk head on you'll be fine. If you're like me and need to attach more plumbing inside your tank / pool steer clear of this one... Unless you can get the non-standard threaded fitting from the same vendor! Just F.Y.I.
