San Francisco Bay Brand ASF65031 Brine Shrimp Eggs Vial for Baby Fish and Reef Tanks, 6gm

San Francisco Bay Brand ASF65031 Brine Shrimp Eggs Vial for Baby Fish and Reef Tanks, 6gmHi I have tested this product twice before writing this review. Good eggs with decent hatch rate.

This is a 6 gram vial of brine shrimp eggs as described and in the picture, it seems like a small amount but it is definitely a lot. This will feed my 5 tetras and baby bala shark for many months. It only comes with the eggs, you will need a few other things that aren't hard to find. Okay, Lets get started.

The directions on the back tells you to use WAY too much brine shrimp eggs at once. Keep in mind if you do not feed the brine shrimp they will die within a couple days so you want to hatch as much as you would use in a day or two. I have done the math and lowered the measurements to 1 cup instead of 1 quart. The way I set up my hatchery is simple.

You will need a glass jar. Inside you will put:

1 cup of Tap water or Tank water. (I used dechlorinated water from my fish tank.)

1 pinch of baking soda to buffer the pH of the water.(This will help improve the hatch rate of the eggs.)

An air pump WITHOUT an airstone.(Use the end of the tubing and place it at the bottom of the jar.)

1/4 of a teaspoon of eggs. (Doesn't have to be exact, can be a bit more or less you would still get a good amount of brine shrimp)

For the salt you will need 1.5 or 1 and a half teaspoon of [NON-IODIZED] kitchen salt, sea salt, or aquarium salt. (I used Non-Iodized Sea salt. These salts will increase hatch rate compared to [IODIZED] table salt).

You want to keep the water at 80-85 degrees this will make them hatch faster. You might have to get creative here, You can try and find a way to get your hatchery secured at the very top of the water in your tank so your heater will do the job for you.

Before you throw everything in the jar and set up your hatchery, I recommend you take your time by adding a pinch of baking soda to your water and letting it mix for a minute. Then you will add your 1/4 teaspoon of eggs and let the air pump mix the eggs around the jar. [Do not add the salt yet!] Let your eggs mix for atleast an hour before you add salt. Once everything is set up, you can leave it alone for 24 hrs.

Once 24hrs is up you will definitely see live brine shrimp and they are ready to be cleaned and fed to your fish. I like to let my jar sit for a couple extra hours as this allows more eggs to hatch.

This is the end of my super long review, to those who read it please let me know if it was helpful and have fun. Thanks!

The package you get looks way different, but all the baby brine shrimp are there. 6 grams is a ton more than I expected. There is enough in there to supply a newborn fry up to their adulthood.

Used this with a brine shrimp hatchery product and they came to life quickly. Fish very happy. These are a great supplemental food source for my fish, when I am away and cannot feed them on schedule.

This product works, but at the time I bought it I did not know that it did not contain the salt mixture needed to hatch the eggs. It does come with directions and tells you what you need to add but it was not the product I really was looking for. This company also sells packets that contain the salt already, which I personally like more. It is really up to you which kind you like, just know that this product does not contain the salt needed.

It would be more favorable if the small 6 gm vial was shown, rather than what appears to be a large 2.75 oz bottle.

Tetra EasyBalance PLUS

Tetra 77139 Tetra EasyBalance PLUS, 8.45-Ounce, 250-mlThis is an excellent additive for freshwater aquariums. It keeps PH at 7.0, reduces Nitrates that can usually only be removed via water changes, and removes phosphate which encourages algae growth. It also produces CO2 which is helpful for the growth of aquatic plants. However it is important that you have proper water aeration when using this chemical additive because of these CO2 producing properties. Another major thing is that this product does NOT remove chlorine or chloramines from water when performing water changes. Also it is important to note that by using this product it does not excuse you from not having to perform water changes. You still should change 15-20% of the water in the tank every 2-3 weeks depending on how many fish are stocked in the tank relative to its size.

This product will cloud the water for a few hours after it is introduced to the tank water. This cloudiness should disappear quickly as long as you have good water filtration and movement! And again make sure you have good water aeration like air stones in the tank as this could cause the fish to not get enough oxygen.

From Tetra's Site:

Easy Balance® Detailed Description of Individual Product Features

Carbonate Hardness Additive The appropriate amount of carbonate hardness is added to the aquarium water compensating for KH losses, which occur as a result of nitrification.

pH Stabilization Stabilizes the pH value on a sufficiently high level, preventing a drop to biologically harmful levels (pH crash) and produces a certain amount of CO2 preventing excessive pH values.

Phosphate Removing Effect In a standard aquarium (30gal) the phosphate concentration is reduced to zero during most of the 6-month period.

New Feature: Nitrate Reduction with Nitraban(tm) Serves as a nutrient for denitrifying bacteria that consume the oxygen releasing nitrogen from the aquarium. On average the nitrate concentration will drop below 40mg/l.

Other Features Include Production of Carbon Dioxide, the addition of trace elements and a replenishment of vitamin B

Let me add to this review that for all the people posting that this product doesn't work or that it killed their fish, they are the ones at fault! And the yellow water issue? Yes this product will cause the water in the tank to turn temporarily yellow. If there is extremely poor filtration and water movement, the water will stay yellow.

I have 2 aquariums and when they need to be clean I add this to the water. EasyBalance with Nitraban helps keep my aquariums clean and clear and I was having a problem finding this product at my local pet store, and other pet stores in my area.

I came to Amazon just to check to see if they carried this product. Much to my surprise,

they did, and for half the price a pet store would have charged me. Even the shipping added to the order, was still half. In the future, I plan to order this product from Amazon.

Again, as with my other orders from Amazon, my order was here in less than a week.

I have been using this stuff for about a year. It is the best product if you don't want to change water and have to reset your water chemistry every 30-45 days. A 50% water change every 3-6 months is all you'll have to do for the life of your tank. I swear by the stuff. I did have an ugly tank from one bad bottle last summer, but it was easily fixable. In fact, I just bought the last 13 bottles available in my size so I won't have to go to the pet store for anything but plants.

Hagen Marina Betta Aquarium Starter Kit, Geo Bubbles

Hagen Marina Betta Aquarium Starter Kit, Geo BubblesThis product should not be used for betta fish. It was recommended to us by the pet shop employee, and since we'd never owned bettas before, we bought it. Very cute tank, but the problems that come with it are enough to kill the fish. We learned this the hard way.

First, the 1/2 gallon tank is way too small. Betta enthusiast websites say to get at least a 2-5 gallon tank.

Second, the product instructions recommend weekly 50% water changes (not nearly enough to clear the toxins), room temperature water (bettas prefer about 78-80 degree water), and say nothing about testing pH, ammonia or nitrate/nitrite levels. If any of these get out of whack, the fish becomes stressed and can easily succumb to bacterial diseases.

Third, the rocks that come with the tank are way too small--they are hard to clean properly without getting them everywhere. The fish might even be able to swallow some of the tiny fragments.

If you want healthy bettas, skip this "starter tank." Buy a larger tank with a heater, filter, larger gravel and water testing kits.

its to small for a betta to live in. it would be fine for a temporary tank (sorry if i spelled that incorrectly) but a betta needs atleast a 2gallon tank to be happy. its way overpriced, at my petsmart they sell these tanks for $8. plus u cant even put plants in there because its so small and if u put rocks in there, they have even less room!

Really not a good choice for betta or goldfish (as I've seen someone use it for that). Goldfish are a lot of maintenance and need 30+ gallons and water changes every other week. Betta need at least 2.5 gallons with a filter (unless you change every day or every other day with safe water) and a heater (unless you live somewhere where the room temperature will keep the water between 70 and 80 degrees. They also are much happier with decorations, especially places they can hide in and explore. The only thing I can thing of that is suitable for this tank is a marimo moss ball. I wouldn't put any animals in this.

This is a very cute tank but I have so many problems with this.

First off, It is WAY too small for my betta. I learned this after setting it up and putting him in and realizing it was not enough room for him. Theres nowhere for him to go or swim. It also gets dirty so fast, the next day the water looks awful and in need of changing. I put in a small air pump for him and I even feel bad watching him in there in such a small space. I am buying a new 5 gallon tank today for not that much more price wise and way more space for him and even more fish. I wish I hadn't of bought this but now I know. I would not recommend.

This is one of the best looking half gallon tanks on the market.

It would be better if made of glass but it looks amazing. would strongly suggest getting the LED light kit for it as it makes it a much better tank.

IT IS TOO SMALL FOR BETTA FISH, my particular one I had filled with grey sand, and various rocks and sea shells my girlfriend had found on the beach, and amarimo moss ball, with a pregnant ghost shrimp. I had a betta in here (female) and it clouded the tank. I had transported that female betta into a tank that was planted, and modified a 1 gallon filter to work in a betta bowl no water changes needed (purigen filled bag instead of carbon so reusable and re-bleachable).

I purchased another one I store under a t5 grow light next to my herb garden to grow coral frags in. id recommend this tank for anything other than betta fish, pico-aquascapes, baby mallies, or pregnant shrimp, a chaeto raising tank or frag tank is all good

just no betta. ignore the idiots griping about getting a 5 or 10 gallon for a betta that is just fish/aquarium snobbery you only need about half a gallon...but if you're lazy like me and hate weekly water changes on freshwater fish (salt water tanks need it reguardless) then just throw your betta in a gallon tank with a plant and filter, remove the carbon rocks and replace with purigen and never worry about water changes or cleaning ever again

Azoo Premium Peat Moss

Azoo Premium Peat MossThis fulfilled all its promises. It arrived quickly. The box was fine, and the peat moss inside the box was exactly as advertised. The peat was not in granules, like many of the canister filter media peat, but loose and fluffy and dirt-like, exactly like the peat you'd use in a garden.

I got this because I was paranoid about using garden peat, and while this is a perfectly good product, it is so expensive (you get about enough to fill a quart or less), next time I will probably just skip it and use organic peat moss meant for gardening.

Aquarius AQ11204 BettaView Brite Corner Tank

Aquarius AQ11204 BettaView Brite Corner TankI should state before hand that I don't own this particular aquarium and so I can't testify to the quality of this item, and that I'm writing from experience and research.

Contrary to popular belief, Bettas don't live in puddles in the wild; They live in vast rice paddies which are thousands of gallons of naturally filtrated and aerated water. They only live in small puddles for about 2 or 3 months out of the year.

What's more, fancy bettas are not very similar to their wild buddies; they prefer larger aquariums with more stimulation, like plants and hiding places (maybe even compatible buddies?).

When I was 12 I bought two bettas and put them into separate small novelty tanks because I was told that was all they wanted or needed. Then at 13, I bought 1 more and put it into an old 3 gallon tank with filtration and aeration.

I saw the difference immediately; He was happier, healthier, moved more, more responsive, more alert, reacted when i came near the tank to clean or feed or watch him...Just absolutely happy. When I saw the difference I bought 2 and 3 gallon tanks and put the other two into them and they perked up as well! Whats more, the boy I initially put into the 3 gallon tank lived a whole year longer than the others!

This aquarium says 1 gallon at the top, and suggests putting two Bettas into it (With the divider).

Putting two bettas close together will stress them out. What's more, any illness one has can potentially be passed on to the other. Finally, if you put in two bettas, you might not be able to put in plants, which Bettas like to rest and sleep on (or at least mine and a few of my buddies' did).

I would buy this tank as a Isolation, Quarantine, or hospital tank though; it's small enough to easily treat a separated fish, you can measure out smaller amounts of medicine (I've done Epsom salt treatments on my guppies before in these sort of tanks, and it's easier in a 1 gallon than a 10 gallon and usually uses less medicine if its measured by the gallon). What's more, I think it would be OK to put a single, aggressive male guppy in if he can't be put back into the community tank (personal experience also), or to house some fry (but not many) in. Best of all, this tank is VERY affordable.

I might even buy this as a "between tanks" tank, when I'm prepping another tank for the fish.

But as a permanent house for a Betta? Never. 3 gallons or larger.

I got this aquarium at the flea market it came with everything but fish and the divider.

I had a guppy and a catfish then my guppy died

I thenk a biger aquarium

This heater works great in my 55-gallon marine tank. It didn't take long to heat my tank and it is pretty accurate. I will only buy titanium heaters after almost being electrocuted by a cracked glass heater (for some reason the GFI didn't trip).

It would be nice if the power cord for this heater was a foot longer and also the directions state that the heater is only to be mounted horizontally, I would prefer the option of mounting it vertically also but this is not a big deal.

GemStones® Swirls® Decorative Aquarium Stones

GemStones® Swirls® Decorative Aquarium Stones, Blue & Clear, 90/bagThese have been used successfully as markers for various board games, with no issue. However, you really want to look over them carefully if not using them decoratively--one or two were broken and could have cut fingers had we not removed them. Still, this really shouldn't deter anyone from getting these lovely glass beads.

Very nice gemstones. Gorgeous color. Awesome decorative effect. Can be used in almost anything but works best in clear containers.

Zilla 11577 Terrarium Hygrometer Digital ThermometerThe temperature is accurate compared to other thermometers. The hygrometer, however, reports a humidity that is almost 20% less than other analog hygrometers. I've tested several different types, and all of them agree on the humidity with the exception of this product. I wouldn't recommend it.

Works really well. The only thing that I have an issue with is the stand that it has. It is very flimsy and knocks over easily.

I love this item, it is so easy to use and seems really accurate. I especially like the suction cups given that my ball python at one point ripped the classic stick-to-the-tank meters off and got one stuck to his face really badly, which was sad and scary. My only issue with this device is that it died on me after about a month and a half. I think it takes watch batteries, I'm going to buy a pack so I can keep this working and my little Zorro happy :)

Tetra Glofish Kit 10 Gallon

Tetra Glofish Kit 10 GallonAlthough everything that came with the tank was in excellent working condition, the tank itself was completely shattered upon arrival. I understand that accidents happen, and was no more than slightly disappointed with the quality of the tank, until I called the tank customer service(not through amazon itself, it was a third party sender, and amazons custom service was as helpful as I could have hoped for) and the third party sender claimed that they no longer offered this product and could not send me a replacement. They did though, refund my purchase in full, so I guess that's as much as I could ask for. It was just a bit of a bummer being that this tank was a gift for some one else.

The filter works, the led lights works and is very bright. A lot of people have been complaining about the canopy saying that it doesn't fit and their isn't space for the light and filter. This is because you cut the the plastic piece that you have attached to the the glass part of the canopy.

Once you cut some holes out of the plastic part for the filter and lights, the canopy will fit perfectly. On the box with the canopy it says something along the lines of "cut to fit". It would help if it said a little more than that.

But it took more time than it should for me to get mine. First I ordered one from petsmart.com (after I went to 5+stores in search of a Glofish 10 gallon kit) it came a short time after that but It was shattered (you could tell it was before even opening the box), we sent it back with the ups guy. He also told us it was best not to ship things that.

We went to a petsmart (i was gonna buy everything separate) but surprisingly they had the kit that I wanted so I bought it. I got home, set everything up, and then found the canopy was broken. We returned the canopy and got another one free of charge.

biUbe Pure Aquarium with Halogen Light, Clear, 9 Gallons

biUbe Pure Aquarium with Halogen Light, Clear, 9 GallonsI wanted to buy a small aquarium for my bedroom so after doing some research, I decided on a Reef One Aquarium. I really wanted the biOrb Life 45 for the extra gallons and the fact that it doesn't distort the fish, but decided against it because I thought it wasn't worth the price. So, I got the biUbe and I am very satisfied.

I have had aquariums since I was young, and though I am no expert by any means, I know that the bigger the tank, the easier it is to maintain. The problem is, I really couldn't fit anything too big in my little bedroom so I thought this aquarium would be perfect and it is. When doing my research, some people advised against these kinds of aquariums, but the people who actually have the tank don't really have too many complaints about them. As long as you're patient and follow directions, you shouldn't have a problem.

I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of:

1.) The pump that comes with the aquarium is very loud and annoying. If you are putting your tank in a room with lots of white noise, then this shouldn't be a problem, but in a bedroom all I hear is a loud buzzing noise coming from the pump. I immediately replaced the pump with a different brand that produced less noise. Although most air pumps do submit some noise, compared to the one by Reef One, the new one is way better.

2.) The pump that comes with the tank is not known to last very long and requires a replacement within 6 months to a year (some people say less, they even tell you to keep a spare pump for this reason in the book). Do yourself a favor and just purchase the Tetra Whisper 10 gallon air pump here on amazon for $9.99. It's cheaper than biOrb's pump, last longer, and not as noisy. I bought 2 for that price.

3.) Reef One wants you to replace the filter too often and this can be pricey. Talk to some people who have had their biOrb for a while and they will tell you how to prolong the filter pad life.

4.) The aquarium is made of acrylic. While acrylic is much stronger than glass, it scratches so easily. Just be careful not to use anything to rough like paper towels or a rag. I brought a few microfiber clothes to clean the aquarium.

The above things are miner and can definitely be worked around. Just keep in mind that pretty much any aquarium smaller than a 20 or 30 gallon requires a little more time and effort.

Having known all this before I purchased my biUbe, I absolutely love my tank! It is very beautiful and doesn't take up too much room in my small bedroom because of its shape.

P.S. The title for the biUbe from amazon.com wrong. It actually comes with the biOrb Intelligent LED light not the halogen light.

UPDATE: Well, I have been having the tank for a few months now and I love it even more everyday. I actually prefer it over the biOrb Life 60, which I also have. I am up to 4 fish now (please follow the directions in only adding 1 or 2 small fish per month, otherwise your tank can crash, killing the fish, and go through a mini cycle if the bio-load gets too overwhelmed). I added a small internal filter behind my bubble tube cover just for some added filtration. If you are worried about the fish being distorted, it's really not that bad at all. You still get a very good view of the fish when they come swimming around. Remember, small tanks take a little more patience, so don't be in a hurry to get a full stock right after your tank is done cycling. Take your time and enjoy!

Most little tanks look like they belong on a 9 year old's night stand. This one, thankfully, does not. It is artistic in it's design but it does not hinder you from actually keeping fish. I have it on a little table in my office and it's just the right amount of size for that space.

Simple to put to together, and very low-maintenance. It takes about 5-10 minutes a week to do a water change. Changing the filter is a snap -just pull out the tube and twist off the filter. Put the new one on and put it back. That's it.

I have a heater in mine so i can keep tropical fish. Doesn't take too big of one to heat this baby.

The vertical configuration makes it slightly tricky to get decor to work right, but i've found that the smaller stuff works just fine if you plan it right.

The LED lights that come with this are awesome. You can set it to many different settings of timing for your sunrise/sunset routine. The weirdest thing is that it goes from 8 hrs to 14 hrs of daylight for a choice with nothing in between. But the light really enhances the fish -and the pure clear outside allows them to really show up well.

I've seen a few reviews on amazon (for other colors) that were so negative it's hard to believe it's the same item. People blaming the Biube for killing their fish? Really? It's a plastic tube with a pump and rocks. The only issues i've had were smaller fish trying to dig into the rocks for food and getting stuck as the rocks are like volcanic rock and not small smooth pebbles. This is to enhance the natural bio filter.

Anyway I highly recommend this tank. I want to get another one.

Buy biUbe Pure Aquarium with Halogen Light, Clear, 9 Gallons Now

The clear plexiglass of this tank makes it almost transparent, so you can see the fish really well. Since it has less filtering (out of the box) than a regular tank, it is important not to overload it with too many (or too large) fish. I modified it by using smaller gravel over the rocks that come with it, because the rocks (which are necessary for the biological filter) are quite ugly and excess food gets trapped in it. I also added a small Tom filter (the smallest one, it's only
