Coralife 05741 3X Turbo Twist UV Replacement Lamp, 9-Watt

These bulbs do what they are supposed to. When they are on and there is adequate water flow through your UV sterilizer, you should be free from algae and bacteria which discolor your water. I use it on a 55 gallon FOWLR tank and it always does its job. The only problem is the short life span. It doesn't get nearly the 10,000 hours which it claims to. I would say I have averaged about 4-5 months per bulb over the past 4 years of using this UV sterilizer. This can start to get somewhat expensive and time consuming to always replace the bulb. Also, unless you check the bulb regularly, it may burn out and you and you won't realize it until there is a problem.

Overall: works well but doesn't last long enough

Within few days the lamp worked and our pond is clear. I love being able to see my fish swim around...

I'm not super happy with the life of these bulbs. That said, they do the job, and the Turbo Twist units are great.

If you're thinking about running UV continuously for the sake of general water purity, consider that it's not necessarily to do so with most aquaria. We ran continuous UV for awhile but found that replacing our carbon with Seachem Purigen worked as good or better at removing organic impurities in our water. Purigen polishes the water amazingly well, even where some algae is present. Plus, it's renewable and lasts 5-10x longer than carbon. Now we only use UV if one of our pets is ill (rarely), which keeps us from buying UV lamps every few months. It's sooo much less expensive this way.

We got his to replace our first one. We adopted a 6 month old kitten, and when he saw the crickets roaming through our beardie's terrarium, he couldn't resist getting into it to catch them. So when we caught him in the terrarium with our beardie, we realized the heat lamp had burned the screen and welded it to the terrarium. We got a second screen, but realized that in order for us to handle our lizard, we needed to wait for the heat lamp to cool off for 10-15 minutes. If you're impatient like me, i would just the heat lamp down, and it inevitably caused it to burn out for a more-than-gentle handle. We then purchased a 2 sided screen. One side rests, so you don't need to move the heat lamps, and the other side opens so you have easy access to your critter. Again, this is a good screen, nice quality, but it won't work so well if you plan to handle a desert pet.

This product works great. Perfect fit, has holes on sides for mounting lighting or use without lighting. Provides good ventalation.

Sturdy, fits correctly, and fits snugly. I had a weird sliding top that broke and I was able to substitute this top with only a small addition to take up some space left from removing the old top.

The screen itself seems like a good screen, It looks like exactly what I need. I would have given it 5 starts, but it arrived slightly damaged. There is about an inch-long line where it was bent up, as if it was put on top of the edge of something, and parts of that are broken. Lilly has climbed out of her tank and hidden herself in my apartment 4 times already so it is really frustrating that I had to exchange this, but I'm glad they ship the replacement out right away and it will be here in a couple days. Until then, my duct tape barrier will have to stay

I received this product in about 20 different pieces. Half of the skull has destroyed, it turned out okay for me though sice I have a smaller tank. I ended up proping half the skull up in a corner and spread the rest of the pieces along the bottom of the tank. the LED is very bright and directional; just how I wamnted it. The bubbler just made way too much noise for me to keep in my tank. if you are looking for something that makes a TON of bubbles this will be perfect for you, it was just a little overwhelming for my small tank.

Algaefix Marine Water Conditioner

I always let some mornnig sunlight into my tank to help the plants but after a while the tank water turned so green I couldn't see through one side of the tank to the other. After using this product the algae was completly gone, really fast, in a few hours and the tank was crystal clear and my plants and fish are just fine. I used a small amount and haven't had to use any since.

Good product, does as advertised!

Pros

Controls algae! Cleaned up my tank, could see a difference after the first dose, not only hair algae, but nuisance Fern-like algae as well. I did not experience any Red Slime Algae issues that many reviewers experienced.

Cons

Some of my soft corals have had negative effects; my cabbage coral hasn't opened since the first dose over a month ago. My buttery yellow toadstool coral that used to have green tips is now 2 different shades of brown.

I stopped dosing a few weeks back, and hoping the corals recover.

I fault myself for dosing too long, as I've read it's best to dis-continue after a month of dosing.

Like the title states. Does what it advertises, but a few trade offs.

Oceanic 6130 BioCube Circulation Pump, 250 gph

So I almost bought a koralia 425 or a aqueon 500... But then I stumbled into these. I decided that for my BioCube 29gal that it'd be better to have 2 250s than 1 500. And I think I was right. There are all different currents and no dead spots now. The flow is generalized instead of focused, and the heads are super small. They're quiet, and do their job. If you get a noisy one, take it back. They are definitely not noisy.

I have had power head in the past and I decided to buy this when I started my new 20 gallon long. This looks great and has a nice design and size. However this power head is TOO loud. Maybe its just the one I got, but this really annoys me. You hear loud vibrations going off and on.

Got this for my jbj 12 gallon nano. Overall I'm very happy with it. It is small, quiet, has very little vibration and is powerful enough to get all the dead spots. You just have to make sure it's turned on only in water, otherwise it will make a loud clicking sound. My coral and clowns love the additional circulation. What a big difference it makes. I'm not sure if the hydro koralia nano would perform much better, but this one is definetly cheaper. Also, it's made in Italy and feels pretty sturdy. I should have purchased one long ago.

Marina Hang-On Breeding Box, Medium

I bought a couple of theses after buying some of the large ones. I find these excellent for mt small "shell dweller" fry. It's just as good and as easy to use s the large. I don't think I would want anything smaller though. This is as small as I would want.

I have a python for at least 25 years and would never part with it. I bought this one for my priest who is setting up a 55 gallon in his office. He has two smaller tanks and using buckets doesn't bother him. Coralife 08616 Desert T8 Light Fixture, 24-Inch

Just FYI This fixture is slightly under 24" in length and comes with a 18" bulb. If you're looking for a fixture for a 24" bulb, this isn't it. Also, this is made to sit on top of a screen/mesh tank cover rather than be mounted directly. It has a standard 2-prong plug and a basic on/off switch on the main unit (not on the cord).

Works well enough, but due to the lack of info in the description, it's not what I had intended to order.

Lights up my tank way better then with just a dome. My beardie loves it. The better setting seems to have perked him up a bit more.

The size is good for mollies or platties if you don't divide it. It seems cruel to me to do so. Its got suction cups so you can stick the to the wall in your tank and holes on top so you don't have to open the thing everyday when it comes time to feed your fish. I own 2 Triton 4 (1050gph) pumps & 1 Triton 5 (1350ghp) pump. I have them on my 120 gallon saltwater reef. 1 Triton 4 powering my skimmer, 1 Triton 4 on my chiller, and the Triton 5 as my return pump from my sump.

I am not sure of the problem the previous reviewer had with their Triton pump, but I am more than pleased with the performance with my system. They are quiet, low vibration, and easy on the power bill. They come with all the accessories that you would need for any type of usage.

I would highly recommend this pump.

My setup 55 gallon tank, 750 GPH over flow box, 10 gallon sump with a protein skimmer. I was expecting to have to throttle down this pump to keep water level high but it did not. my water level was just too low. I am guessing that it only move about 350 GPH not allowing the over flow box to work properly. Ultimately I had to replace this pump on this system. I do not think the ratings are correct as other manufactures rate the wattage used by this pump to be in the 350-500 GPH range.Pump does work and is now just feeding a bio-box.
