I purchased the tank which included the filter and economy hood. The tank and filter work great, however the hood broke within 5 weeks. The plastic assembly that holds the light bulb in place broke and cannot be fixed. Like the last person said it may pay to buy a better quality hood. This hood will fall apart on you! The bulb socket was designed in a way that it is very hard to change the bulb. You must unscrew the cover otherwise you will risk cracking the bulb (I wasted $20 on bulb)because you can reach the base of the bulb with the cover on. It is not made with rustfree material so after the screw is rusted in place then you can't even change your bulb anymore. It won't last more than 2-3 bulb change. I also think because the design of this junk (everything exposed to moisture)the bulb just doesn't last very long. I purchased this hood for my son's 10 gallon tank from a local aquarium. We did not put lights in initially, so it *worked* OK. Once I got a hold of some bulbs, I decided to just install one of them, because it was bright enough. That lasted a total of 2 weeks. As others experienced, the screw base of the lamp socket just broke itself off either by corrosion or vibration or who knows what. I discovered this by attempting to unscrew the bulb, but not encountering any resistance whatsoever. It only was held there in place by the cheap plastic water shield.I then tried the other side, and got at least a few more days out of that compared to the other side before the exact same thing happened. Horrible, horrible design. I cannot believe how anyone could think a design like this could possibly work. A complete waste of materials and energy to make and sell this product, only to have it land in a dump somewhere within a few months. I'm only hoping my local aquarium will take it back for a refund.

I just received mine and I set it up in my 10G tank and ZERO bubbles. Seems like it doesn't breath at all. Rena Air 300 Air Pump
The most quiet air pump I have ever owned. I was a faithful customer of Hagen and Tetra air pumps but got fed up with the noise... then I tried Rena. My Rena Air pump has been running for 3 years without any problem. The pump is powerful enough to generate a curtain of air bubbles using long difusers. The air flow is adjustable.
I'm apparently slowly working my way through Amazon's stock of Rena Air Pumps.
First I ordered a 400. It was LOUD (bumped a quiet room from 40 to 46db at 1m (kind of making me seriously question Rena's 30db at 1m claims). Once plugged in, it turns out it generated no power on one side. The 400 is supposed to be two 300s in the same enclosure. I'd bought one 300 and one noise maker that didn't push any air. Fortunately, Amazon are awesome about returns.
Given the 400 was only 50% successful, I replaced it with two 300s. That way, if one was faulty, I could keep using the other one while I sent the faulty one back. It's $10 more than a 400 but keeps the tank aerated in case of issues. I'm very glad I did. Sure enough, one works well while one makes a lot of noise and can't drive air through the airlines, let alone produce the air a borrowed 200 is producing.
The lessons I'm learning here are:
1) Rena's quality is *very* variable. You can get very good ones. And you can get very bad ones. I'm running at about a 50% success rate (counting the 400 as two pumps as it is exactly that two x 300s inside one enclosure).
2) If it's running very loud or barely putting out air, even after you adjust the flow control, you likely got a bad one.
3) Decibels are an incredibly subjective measure. What does 30db at 1m recorded in a silent room really mean in your home? With a TV on, with background noise, it shouldn't be too noticeable. In a quiet room while you're home alone, expect to easily hear it through an aquarium stand and for it to be approaching the noise of a running fridge. If it's louder than the fridge and the airflow is poor, you've likely got a bad one.
4) Order in pairs so you've got something to compare to and can return one if it's noticeably louder or produces noticeably less air. Having one on its own, with nothing to compare to, just leads you to questioning your judgment.
5) Get used to the idea you'll possibly have to return a couple until you get a good one. Fortunately, Amazon's great about this.
6) If returns annoy you, don't get the 400. If there's a 50:50 chance of getting a faulty 300, you now have a 75:25 chance of at least one side of the 400 being faulty. Plus, if one 300 fails later, you've still got one pump. If one of the two 300 pumps inside the 400 fails, you've now got a loud unit to either deal with or entirely replace.

These can get easily messy when you're breaking a piece of the blood worm pack off to thaw, but other than that this are great. My King Betta went bananas after trying one of these. I held one out side of the tank and he swam back and forth faster than ever, and he jumps out of the water like mad when I hold them above the water. Definitely recommend these as a treat for your betta.

I received this product for a baby fat tailed gecko and it seemed fairly small so I measured it and the actual inside of the log is less than 1" high and wide and maybe 4" long. The height was measured to the top of the piece that sticks up on top and the overall length is about an inch shorter than it states. Do not purchase if you have an animal larger than an anole, small snake or crabs.

Max Chill Aquarium Chiller
I use this chiller on my Ryunkin goldfish tank. The temperature used to get to 77 deg which is too hot for goldfish, this unit brought it down to a cool 71 degrees. The unit is so quiet, I was really suprised, the only annoying thing is if your using a controller it makes a beep everytime it starts up, I'm going to go inside of it and disable it. The front cover comes off pretty easily to change the filter but it exposes all the 120v wires and compressor in it is so if you have small kids and they pull it off it could be dangerous (just a thought). One more thing this unit uses 1/2 inch hose fittings and most of the pumps rated at the flow for this unit use 3/4 inch fittings, I used some pipe tape on the half inch hose and stuck it in the center of the outlet of the pump and it holds well. If your using this for coldwater fish this unit will run ALOT, unit runs 35 minutes per hour on my 25 gallon tank, i'm wondering if I should have ordered a bigger one. We'll see how long it lasts.

I purchased this for my 65 gallon tank that was running too hot due to pumps and lighting.It works well and keeps the tank at the desired temperature. It does run the compressor most of the time. It is most certainly NOT silent (as another review stated), it is about as loud as a small refrigerator would be.
Hook up is very easy. I used the 5/8 inch fittings.

This has been the best purchase for any fish tank. I had used many different products to try and solve our nitrate problem, but the polyfilter was the only one to work to lower the level. My tank had also had low, but nagging, ammonia and nitrite readings that lowered to 0 when I put in the polyfilter. I used the product in my Fluval 350 canister filter, slipped down on the outside of the large foam inserts. I took out my used up filter and the nitrate level elevated again. I am glad to find that Amazon has a three pack, since my local fish store only carries packs of single filters and can't keep them in stock. The only downside of this product is that it states that it can be recharged, but when I tried recharging per directions but it was no longer effective in removing the nitrates, etc.

I'll be honest, My co-worker and I bought this with the assumption that the fish would have actual rooms to swim in. But it doesn't. It's a glass box that fits down into the plastic crate.That disappointment aside, it's a neat fish box. Everyone loves looking at it at work. And it holds a gallon of water perfectly-which is a nice amount of a betta (you really don't want less than that).
All in all, I'm quite happy with it. Now I just need to find a couch for my fish and we're set :)

I originally brought this because I love the design, but there things I realized after I set it up. My room is pretty cold, so it definitely needed a small heater inside and I also put in a underwater light. The fish hotel looks awesome when lit up. First I have a Fish only live rock marine aquarium. 30 gallon. Ive got a fluval 304 canister filter and the prism skimmer. I bought this skimmer attachment because I wanted to remove the "scum" film from the top of the water. The item says it's a surface skimmer. I think that is stretching the definition of a surface skimmer. It draws water from the top inch of the aqauarium but it would be very difficult to get it to "skim" the surface all the time without constant adjustment. The problem is the height adjustment is mechanical. You have to move a lever and adjust the height of the surface skimmer, so after adjusting the surface skimmer to get a slight "waterfall effect" so that it is "skimming" the surface all is good until water evaporates and now not enough water is falling into the surface skimmer cup to keep up with the pump. I would have to top off the water in the tank and re adjust the surface skimmer cup everyday to get a true "Surface skim". I guess I will adjust it when I have time once a week to get the scum off the surface and then lower it the rest of the time so it will not starve itself of water when evaporation happens. It would be really nice if it had some type of flotation on it that would let the skimmer cup constantly adjust to the water level. It would be a 6 star if that was the case. Other than the adjustment issue. It seems to be built good and it fit onto the skimmer with no problem. I'm going to keep it and use it. I was not impressed with the options for surface skimmer intakes for the canister filter. They all stuck to the side of the aquarium with suction cups and well I have good luck with suction cups for about a week.
