MagFlip Glass Cleaner

MagFlip Glass CleanerLove the way this cleans my aquarium. Easy to use. Hard to find because it is new. This company had it at the best price and communicated well. Love the ease of dealing with this company.

it worked but unfortunately it did a lot of scratches on my bullet shape aquarium...I'd rather spend more time with more safe scraper to do the job...

This product works ok. It does not work well if you have a tank with rounded corners. This tool is best used for fish tanks with perfectly flat surfaces. Replacement blades are difficult to calibrate. Once a replacement blade is installed it might be a fraction too far back to touch the glass.

It worked well on my glass tank, but when I upgraded to a 90 gallon acrylic I bought the new blades for acrylic. After a quick clean I noticed scratches ALL over my BRAND NEW tank. It's more than likely headed for the garbage can.

Magnet a bit weak, hard to flip, might be good for a small tank with thin glass, shipping was fast, the price was right to check out the product, but it wasn't a success, but it did fit between the glass and rocks with its slim profile which is why I bought it.

Aquarium Pharmaceuticals 10J Pimafix Antifungal Fish Remedy

API Pimafix Antifungal Fish Remedy, 16-OunceI gave this 4 stars because of the scent of it. It has a very strong mint/peppery smell that will linger in the water of your tank and hangs around in the air. I love that this bottle has a measuring cap on it that makes it handy to ensure I have measured out the correct dose. Other than the smell it is a great product! My only concern is that they recommend you treat the tank for 7 days without any active carbon and if you have high waste producing fish like goldfish that is not an option. I can usually go about 12 hours without active carbon before my fish start to show signs of ammonia distress. Since I cannot go an entire week minus active carbon I will only treat my main tank if I have several fish in need of it and salt did not help. Everyday I will pull out the active carbon for 5 hours then replace it and repeat until my fish are healed or for the max of 7 days. If I have a single fish that needs to be treated a hopsital tank is a must, or in my house hospital bucket (in case if I need to transport my fish). In the smaller hospital tank it is possible to go without active carbon if you do a water change everyday (20-30%).

This is great for fin rot or any wounds on fish, but I highly recommend adding salt to your tank(if it's a freshwater tank for goldfish, etc) first before adding any chemical med. to the tank. Salt works wonders on fish, just make sure you use aquairium salt and not TABLE SALT.

Also if your having fungus issues (cottony growth on the gills or around the face or on the fins) the fungus has to be coming from somewhere if you have an established tank. Clean all the hoses, gravel, decorations and filter, espically if it's a HOB (Hang-on-back of tank).Vinegar is a good, natural cleaner that will not hurt your fish if there is any residue after rising. Usually the cause of fungus is uneaten decaying food and decaying waste in the tank.

Melafix and Pimafix are two of the flagship products by fish care giant API(aquarium Pharmaceuticals Inc)A homeopathic antifungalPimafix works wonders in fresh, brackish and salt water aquariums. Unlike medications which are in essence chemicals Pimafix uses a soluble extract called "Pimenta Racemosa"

Pimenta Racemosa comes from West Indian Bay Trees and is extraordinarily effective in treating and curing a multitude of fungus related disease including:

* Fungus and cotton Fungus

* Mouth Fungus

* Body Fungus

* Red Streaked Fins

* Gill Fungus

The typical treatment for any of the above is a daily dose of 5 ml per 10 gallons of water for seven days. Usually you'll see significant improvement within 48 hours it's that fast and that effective. Pimafix can be used along with Melafix to ensure both bacterial and fungla infections are treated equally.

Pimafix can also be used when quarantining new fish and adding post quarantine fish into your community tanks.It's important to remember to remove activated charcoal during treatment.Both Pimafix and Melafix can foam slightly but will never cloud your water or change your water parameters.

It's a safe, gentle highly effective product that I've depended on for decades.After 40 years of keeping fish both Pimafix and Melafix are two products I highly recommend to anyone, novice to expert.

I was skeptical about this product when I bought it, but figured it would be worth a try. I used this product in conjunction with Melafix when our Black Moors and Glofish were sick. (They were sick when we bought them and didn't realize) The Black Moors had fin rot and this cleared it right up. It also helped when we made the mistake of putting a Puffer Fish (For reference, Puffer Fish should be kept by themselves) in the tank with the Black Moors. The Puffer ate the tails and fins of our fish and this kept an infection from starting in the fish. I highly recommend it if your fish is suffering from one of the maladies that this treats. It treats fungus or cottony growth, mouth and body fungus, and reddening of fins and body. Our fish are happily swimming around today after being treated with this a month ago.

My gorgeous Elephant Ear betta developed a white growth on the side of his body a few days ago and stopped swimming except for the occasional gulp of air and would just sit at the bottom of the tank all day. I researched a bit and decided that it was most likely a fungal infection so I stopped by petco and picked this up. I did a complete water change to rid the tank of any remaining fungus and began treating him and within 3 days he is back to swimming almost as actively as before and flaring when he sees his reflection in the corner of the tank. He's not 100% better yet but at this rate I'm sure he'll be perfect by the end of the 7 day treatment. Definitely recommend!

I've had two Dwarf Gouramis that had fungus (different occasions). I put them into my hospital tank and used Pimafix as per all the instructions. Both DGs died. Now, I cannot be sure why they died. Maybe the fish were too far gone already, both lived for about a day in the hospital tank. All I can say is that it hasn't helped any fish I've treated with so far. In the fish forums that I've visited, most of the opinions is that Pimafix does not help. Anyway, this is just my experience, you might have a different one.

API Ammo-Carb

API Ammo-Carb, Half Gallon Carton, Net Weight 40-OzA large container at a great price. Ammo-carb is the best buy for enhanced filtration media. Better than charcoal alone it has a resin that removes ammonia, which poisons fish and gives your tank that sort of acrid odor even with good water changing habits. If you are unable or unwilling to add a larger filter or have a bio orb tank, for instance, adding ammo-carb makes a significant difference in water quality. I've been keeping tropical fish for about 39 years now.

I've used this product for 6 years in a 75 gallon fresh water tank. Great job of filtration and ammonia removal. Must rinse prior to use.

I heard that ammo-carb is handy to put in the litter drawer of your litter robot, and so thought I'd give it a shot. I sprinkled a little bit (maybe a tablespoon or so) into the drawer a week ago. Since then, no odor at all. It works amazingly well at absorbing the odor.

All Glass Aquarium AAG10005 Tank, 5.5-Gallon

All Glass Aquarium AAG10005 Tank, 5.5-GallonAll-Glass makes some of the best aquariums on the market. I spent about a year working at a boutique pet store, and All-Glass produced the best products we sold. In that time, I didn't see a single defective product or hear a single customer complaint about All-Glass. I even bought a complete 45-gallon setup (tank, stand, hood and light) when I established my own aquarium.

Yes, All-Glass aquariums cost a bit more than the acrylic tanks you can pick up at Petsmart, but it's worth it. For one thing, glass won't scratch like acrylic will. If you think algae looks bad, wait until your acrylic tank has accumulated a few years of nicks and scratches. The stands are also a bit pricey, but they're sturdy, level and attractive. Keep in mind that fresh water weighs around 7 lbs per gallon (salt water ranges around 10 lbs, depending on salinity), which doesn't even include hardware and gravel. Even a freshwater 5.5 gallon aquarium will weigh over 40 pounds and a 20 gallon tank can weigh anywhere from 150-200 lbs. A sturdy, level stand is an important part of buying an aquarium.

Glass isn't for everyone. It's very dangerous if it gets broken, which is always possible with young kids around. But if you have children old enough to be respectful around their pets, this 5.5 gallon aquarium is a great way to start. It's also an excellent option if you don't have much room/budget, or you're setting up a quarantine tank for your main aquarium. Either way, I highly recommend any All-Glass products.

Please do your research. You can get a tank like this at Petsmart (made of GLASS) for no more than $20, probably less. And with a tank so small, you really shouldn't be that concerned with getting a super high quality/expensive tank. Maybe if you are getting a 55 gallon you should be more concerned. Acrylic and glass have their advantages/disadvantages, and Petsmart actually doesn't carry very many acrylic tanks.

Jardin Fish Tank Pond Bubble Release Sintered Air Stone Disk

Jardin Fish Tank Pond Bubble Release Sintered Air Stone DiskHave you ever just went to the fish store and spent 4.99-9.99 on one of these air stones just to come home and try to install it to have the nipple come off? Well I have, at least 4 times. When I got the item it was a little difficult to get out of the plastic, maybe that is why It wasn't broken when I went to install. This is a good big disc, and I just love the results with my Tetra 77853 Whisper Air Pump, 40-Gallon and Standard 3/16" Flexible Airline Tubing for Aquariums, 25 feet. So very happy, and it wasn't a dud. In fact it really surpasses my expectations. Gratitude!

Good fizz I hope that it last. I am ordering another one for my pond. The pond needs all the fizz I can give it.

Nina Ottosson DogFinder Interactive game

Nina Ottosson DogFinder Interactive gameI got this as a Christmas gift for my Shetland Sheepdog to keep him occupied and non-destructive. It took him about 20 minutes to get through all of the little sliders, but he figured it out all the same (box says it's a "difficult" level). He seems to enjoy it, and hasn't lost interest yet, but I had some pretty good cookies in there too. I'm so glad that it seems pretty sturdy (although he only weighs 25lbs), and the bones are too big for him to chew and swallow. Might be an issue for larger dogs that would have to be watched with it. One minor annoyance is that it takes a while to set up, because you have to remove and place back each bone one by one. I feel like I'M the one being trained! Nevertheless, I would highly recommend this for people with herding dogs that need some entertainment.

Fun and exciting for our great Danes. The plastic has held up well for many uses. I've found it is easiest to hold the puzzle on my lap while they play so that it doesnt get flipped over by their monster paws. Great buy.

I ordered this to add to my cat's growing collection of Nina Ottosson toys. It is easy to vary the challenge level of this game by using more/less of the bones, silding them over or not, etc. This is step up from the "Dog Brick" game-which the cat can solve really quickly now.

The only draw back are the gaps along each "bone channel", which design wise probably makes it easier for the pet to slide the bone to reveal the treatbut small treats or kibbles easily fall through the gaps. About half of treats end up underneath the puzzle as the bones are slid around. I am going to try to fasten mesh along the bottom to keep the treats in the channel and off the floorwhich should fix it, but I would prefer having a solid, gap-free puzzle.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.

1. Product slides on floor, maybe not so much on carpet. We have hard wood and the grips don't keep it in place well.

2. The plastic bones offer no real ability to grip, in case the dog primarily uses its mouth for this. My Pug uses her paws and is able to get them flipped up eventually, but my German Shepherd primarily uses his nose. Because GSD's noses angle down slightly from nose to bottom lip and the bones are so close together and have NO grip (slick plastic), he can't get them out. Simply putting a knob on them (like on a dresser) could have made a HUGE difference.

RARELY, if I only have a few bones in (and only one per slot, as one end of the slot is narrower, thus forcing the dog to figure out the puzzle by sliding the bone to the wider end to get it out) he can get one or two out.

My Pug is VERY treat motivated so she doesn't give up. My GSD either isn't as treat motivated or gets frustrated and gives up easily.

3. There are little slits/narrow "holes" on the sides of the slots where the bones slide in. The little treats get stuck in here sometimes and I have to pop them out to reward my Pug's efforts. Sometimes they slide between the slits and I have to pick the whole piece up so she can get the reward from under it.

4. It is annoying to assemble. As mentioned previously, the slots are narrower at one end. You have to remove each bone one at a time (can't just dump it upside down to load it up again [well, you can remove half this way, then slide the others to the wider end and dump upside down to remove the other half]) then set it back up one bone at a time. I realize it has to be done that way for the puzzle part of it to work, but it is very annoying.

Bottom line: I noticed several other people mentioned similar things and I wish I had listened. I basically wasted $20 on something I will not use again. I used plastic cups and hid treats under one and slowly moved them around and then had my dogs "pick" the correct one with better luck and less hassle, while still encouraging them to "think".

My GSD had more fun playing with the bones outside of the piece by sliding them across our hard wood floor than playing with this.\

Tetra SafeStart Treats

Tetra 77961 SafeStart Treats, 30-Gallon, 100-ml, 3.38-OunceA little context, I use this site quite a bit and rarely review. i felt the need to jump in and supply some details about my experience.

We have a new 10g aquarium that we purchased 6 weeks ago for our 2 year old son's enjoyment. understanding the cycling phases that we had to go through,we entered the process with eyes wide open, at least we thought. We had a fish die about every 3 days and I purchased a kit to test levels and saw that we were off the charts. I wrestled with 50% tank changes and kept the tank very clean, as fish were still dying it felt hopeless. Our son grew frustrated not having any fish to enjoy, and our tank looked no closer to cycling than when we started.

Some research later, I came upon this product, why not give it a shot, can't hurt! It arrived mid day and i checked my levels before i put in the product and the water was clearly toxic. 24 hours later the tank was tested again and it had FULLY cycled! We took a sample in to the petstore to verify and they said the water is cycled and perfect for new fish. I am happy to report a perfectly balanced ecosystem becausse of this product.

I hope this post helps people decide to go for it, fantastic product, my fish thank you!

PS. We have had great success with our tank and have since moved to a much larger 26 gallon tank. I purchased this product to cycle it for us, and once again, within 1 day perfect ecosystem and no fatalities! You guys really did this right!

We moved my daughter's 7-inch goldfish "Willow" into a 55 gallon tank kind of on the spot. We were going on a 3 day trip away from home and realized the fish wasn't going to fare well in her little tank up in my daughter's bedroom without her daily water change. We had been discussing setting up a larger tank, but where it would go, how large, and if we would be adding more fish were in the debate and research process. Now with this "emergency" we made our decisions that we would be getting some more fish, and that goldfish needed large tanks for best safety for them. We decided on the largest tank we could find at the zero hour and worry about adding tank mates later.

After the trip I found that I had to do almost daily water changes and ammonia treatment even in the big new tank! I looked all over the internet and got educated on tank cycling. The problem is, we had already thrown out or let dry out all of the old media and had no bacteria to cycle the tank with. Information suggested Willow would be cycling that big tank for months all on her own. I doubted it would ever establish without killing her first.

Tetra Safestart has been the rescuer. It didn't work instantly, it took 7 days for all readings to come to .25, 0, 5.0 (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate respectively) but her water was about 68 degrees and our normal tap PH is 8.2. High PH and cold water probably slowed it down along with such a light bio-load. I did make the fortunate mistake of trying to lower her water PH by .2 which likely helped the cycling along.

The Safestart was added 17 days before I write this and the readings are still holding, the ammonia is actually a little less but not quite zero. Yes, I know I should vacuum more often. I have de*nitrate stuffed in the filters here and there to absorb nitrates. I haven't need to do water changes for any other reason but the PH levels since adding Safestart. 7 days after starting her tank cycle, I used the swish-ings from the filters to cycle a quarantine tank for the incoming new tenants. Their tank cycled even faster! That is enough to convince me that this bacteria continues to live, reproduce and re-establish itself. It's the right kind of bacteria, I highly recommend this product.

My tank had been cycling for about a month and the nitrites were ridiculously high and it seemed like no matter how many water changes I did they wouldn't go down. I ordered this product thinking that it could do nothing but help if it actually worked. I ordered the bottle for 70 gallons for my 40 gallon tank and used as instructed. By the next day my nitrites had dropped and by the end of the week they were zero. The next week I added about 6 fish and over the course of the week neither ammonia or nitrites rose.Its been about 2 weeks since I added those last round of fish and everything appears to be stable.I totally recommend this product to everyone who is a little impatient to wait for a full cycle.

Here is how we used this product:

1. bought a 20 gallon tank, set up with water, gravel, filter, etc. and let it run a few days while awaiting SafeStart delivery.

2. Ordered safestart 250 ml (good for 75 gallon)

3. Got the delivery promptly; the expiration date on the bottle was in a full year--menaing, the stuff was freshly packaged.

4. Got 3 platies, added them to tank same time as poured in 1/4 of the bottle (shook the bottle before pouring)

5. Fed the fish, tested the water.

6. On day 5 ammonia was rising to .5 ppm and no trace of nitrites or nitrates...so decided Safestart failed.

7. Reread the instructions on Safestart. It said add the ENTIRE bottle. so I shook the bottle hard and added the rest to the tank, plus washed out the bottle with tank water.

8. Tank water got cloudy, meaning bacterial bloom.

9. The next day ammonia and nitrites were 0, nitrates were 10ppm...

10. TANK IS CYCLED!

2 possibilities why my first attempt did not work:

a. Maybe there was not enough "food" for bacteria when I first added Safestart, and it worked better when there was ammonia present.

b. Maybe you have to add the whole bottle cuz bacteria settle on the bottom even if you shake the bottle...

Want Tetra SafeStart Treats Discount?

This bacterial supplement product is the ONLY one out there that actually works. It has REAL bacteria in it and not the dead stuff you find in most of these type of products. It is a pity that local fish stores or large pet marts push other products that dont work. They must get kick backs from them or something.

I have used this product after I had to medicate a fish tank (which destroys good bacteria)...when I had ammonia or nitrites spikes (even after I have an already cycled tank). This cured all problems within a day. This adds more of the good bacteria to your tank and literally neutralizes any threats. You dont have to use this all the time, like other bacteria supplements...just when you need it. Brilliant product!

Aqueon LED Aquarium Light Fixture, 20-Inch

Aqueon LED Aquarium Light Fixture, 20-InchThis fits perfectly on a 10g tank. i have this on a 10g frog tank, and it supplies somewhat decent lighting. it comes with a single bulb, which has 1 switch and 1 power wire. even if you get a second or third bulb it is still using one switch. the problem with that is you cant put it on a day and night timer to have it simulate dawn/dusk automatically.

really this needs another strip of bulbs from the manufacturer, but i think 3 would be too much in a 10g though

The light works well but the one led light strip that's included with it did not provide enough light for my tank. Granted this is for a smaller tank, I have a 150 gallon tank and bought three of these lights. I was disappointed when I was not satisfied with the light that came through. Bought the other 3 led strips and now its plenty of lighting.

Hello,

I recently purchased these LED lights at a local pet store(had I known they were on amazon I would have saved a few $), They fit very nicely over my 10 gallon fish tank, my fish do like it, slight shimmering effect which is pretty cool, I really like the moon lights for night time! As the other reviewer mentioned one thing that lead me to get this light over other brands is the ability to add other light strips to it, with other color options, pretty cool; and I may do that in the future, but for now the light works great!
