Police Box Aquarium Ornament

The interior edges of the openings are Sharp. To make them safe for my Betta's delicate fins I sanded them down with a hand held rotary tool. (Please do this outside, or wearing a particle filter mask so you don't breath resin!) Looks great in the tank, and my fish loves the roomy interior :)

I have to admit when I purchased this bowl I was quite sceptical due to the fact that I truly wanted a glass bowl but it was a great price at $12.99 and I felt a need to rehome my female BETTA she was in a quart at the time and I wanted to give her a little more room to play and swim around in. Well low and behold from the very moment I put her in she loved it! As a matter of fact I tried rehoming her three times to larger tanks with filtration systems and she hated them ALL OF THEM! So I ended up putting her right back in her favorite home! I guess at some point I will have to purchase another one just to have a back up! I do weekly 100% water changes with no heater and she is well adjusted and has no complaints about this aquarium! She loves this bowl, I keep her led light to plain white/clear because she doesn't care for all the colors too much! You cannot go wrong with this aquarium for a BETTA at least! I do not even have the energy to make the attempt to return the two tanks... Misleading advertising,as to what is contained... I got a plastic bowl, black top, and a light. Nothing life the pictures showed, total waste of money.

U.P. Aqua Shrimp Sand

I've raised allot of different plants on allot of different substrates, and by far this stuff is my favorite. its a nice alternative to the much more expensive ADA amazonia. the only downside is the size its only about enough to fill a standard 5 gallon tank.

This substrate can't no longer buff my water ph. it's only been 4 months of use and my shrimp tank water can't go any lower than 7 ph.

I purchased several bags of U.P. Aqua Shrimp Substrate for a couple tanks (20 Long PFR/10 PRL) based off of being newer to the market and a few glowing reviews. Here in the US we do not get many of the substrates that are available in HK, Japan, and Europe due to import restrictions and lack of importers in general.

Overall, it does look good and is what I would consider the only reason I haven't gave it away. Small ~1MM grains are easy for shrimp to play with, and several of my PFRs like to actually dig into it while scavenging. The reason they are able to interact with it so much is entirely due to the lightweight of the grains. Planting anything with buoyancy is frustrating without using inert weights, including Java Ferns which will "walk" around the tank at night without them in the currents. Waving a few fingers through the water and creating a current will send little black grains everywhere. Ph Buffering ability is pretty much non-existent unless you fill 1/5 of a 10G tank which wasn't a primary concern of mine as I use a 5 stage RO/DI anyways. Tested with both house tap, RO, grocery store mineral water and could not see any significant Ph buffering. There was no ammonia spike detected which is nice.

That being said, it would look incredible in a small desk nano as long as you are not depending on it to do much else than be inert. In that aspect I gave it 3 stars on looks alone, and it didn't give me any cloudiness issues to speak of. I will keep it in a few tanks, but I cannot say I am willing to spend that much again for an inactive substrate. There are much better values around here (twice as much product, actually buffer 6.5, and cost half the price).

This is an exceptionally clean and attractive substrate and so far I am very impressed. It rinses nearly clear and partial water changes do not cloud the water. One bag does a 10 gallon tank adequately.

I have 8 of these, they were nice when they were brand new. Now that they are about a year old, they barely work. They get clogged within a week and basically stop working. I ended up have to take a safety pin and poking holes every inch for it to function at all.

I've used about 4 different styles of air stone and this one definitely has the potential to be the coolest:

it sinks

it's flexible and light so easy to shape for your exact needs.

Unfortunately, it's the only one I have that keeps clogging. It's easy enough to clear it. But, every time it clogs I have to wonder how long it's been clogged and not doing it's job. It's not easy for me to check and see if it's working properly. And, there's no obvious reason for the clogging the water is totally clear no debris or anything. I don't get it.

It's a shame because I would have bought more I think the design is really clever.

This works like any other air stone, but is easier to place in the tank since it doesn't float up, and has no feet that need to be put into gravel to keep it from floating. Also, it is flexible, making it easy to fit in any tank configuration. After some use however, it does float at the free end. I'd probably use again because they are so easy to place and configure, but cosmetically it isn't the best.

My product came quick and got to me all in one piece!!!! Light works great. I was kinda nervous about all the other customer reviews saying its not worth buying, doesnt work, and etc...overall this light is nice and works great.i would recommend this to anybody with a saltwater tank.

I have used these bulbs on 4 different tank setups for plants and have saw how they grow plants first hand. Lee's The Ultimate Super Pump

I needed a replacement T pump for my python water changer and this works> Just wanted to let everyone know.

I got this pump because a previous reviewer said it worked with the Python siphon. I needed to replace it. It looks exactly like it and the same size, but it's a different color (Python is green). This pump was a free shipping item and the Python pump was not, so I chose this one over the Python.

It hooks up to the faucet just like the Python, but make sure you keep the metal adaptor that came with your Python pump because the one that is on Lee's is plastic...booo. That can become weak and strip over time. Got everything hooked up just fine, but it was siphoning extremely slow. it took a while to get the water up the tube and to the sink and if I picked up the vac out of the water and then put it back in, the suction goes away completely. It won't suck up anymore unless I empty all of the water out of the entire line. Once it's all empty, I can slowly get my suction back. Oh, and if you hit the python switch to stop the flow for a second, the same thing happens. You have to empty all the water out of the line before you can start again. Very frustrating and takes a lot more time. It works but you'll be standing there for awhile. I have a 30g tank, so maybe people with smaller tanks have much more success. This is a great backup if you are in a bind, but I still suggest getting the Python pump for your Python vac.

Just got this little venturi, put it on the wash sink in the basement, which has a faucet that is threaded for a hose. Then hooked a full length garden hose to the side port and stuck the other end in the sump well, in the other corner of the basement.

Turn on the faucet, you create enough suction to raise water a few vertical feet through all that hose, believe it or not!

A lot easier than bailing the sump, if the power goes out.

Aquarium filters remove many harmful chemicals, but nitrates do accumulate over time, and the way to remove them is by periodic partial water changes, usually something like 20% per week. The old way was to siphon water out into a bucket, which was dumped down the sink, commode, or in the yard. The bucket was then refilled and poured back into the tank.

To change water in this manner was a little bit labor intensive on a small tank, and really time consuming on a larger tank.

I stumbled on my pump in a Thrift store, where I found it on a shelf for $1. In all honesty, I'm not 100% sure mine is Lee brand, as it wasn't in the original package, and there is no name on it. It may actually be a knock-off. Mine is made of blue plastic, and looks identical to the item pictured.

It operates by connecting it to a water supply, which can be either an outside hose spigot, or by using the adapter, a kitchen faucet.

Water flows through from top to bottom, past a venturi located where the side fitting is, creating a suction which will draw water out of the aquarium through a hose. I purchased 50 feet of clear vinyl hose from my local aquarium store, attached it to this device, and put a suction strainer on the other end to avoid sucking small fish into the hose.

In use, I drop the suction strainer into the tank, unroll the hose, and attach the pump to the water tap outside my front door. Opening the diverter (the blue collar) on the pump outlet, then turning on the water tap starts a siphon which removes as much water from my tank as I desire (water tap can be closed once siphon starts so long as the pump is lower than the tank, siphon will continue).

Closing the diverter on the pump outlet stops the siphon, and opening the water tap with the diverter closed refills the tank.

I can't imagine any way to make water changes any easier. I've been using this device for years now, and it still works great.

There are also attachments which allow you to vacuum the gravel with the water siphoning out of the tank, if you feel the need to perform this task (I never vacuum because I don't use an undergravel filter, because I use EcoComplete substrate, and because I have fish which eat any food which falls to the bottom, so for me, the need simply isn't there).

I bought this as a backup to my sump pump, I hook it to a hose in my basement shower and stretch a hose to my sump pump well. I tested it and it took no time at all to pump the well dry. Hopefully I won't need to use it in this way, but I am confident it will work next time we have lots of rain and the power goes out. Very cheap compared to other sump pump backup methods

I have been keeping a planted aquarium for many years and Flourite is the best substrate for plants that I have ever used. True, it is a pain that you need to rinse it, however, if you use a very fine colander with a hose or in the bathtub like I did it is very easy. You will want to let the dust settle after you put it in your aquarium before turning your filter on. (depending on how well you rinsed the substrate.)

Other reviewers are not kidding, you will need to take this stuff outside and spend a long time with a hose and bucket to rinse out the silt to an acceptable level. It looks nice in the aquarium though.

I put this substrate in my turtle tank after reading a glowing endorsement on a web site dedicated to turtles. I knew upfront that it needed to be rinsed well, more so than an average back of rocks. What I didn't expect was if the turtle or fish makes the slightest fuss with the flourite a cloud of dust is dispersed throughout the tank. The benefits of this product are the pleasant appearance and use as a planting medium. The drawbacks are the constant production of dust and the increased filter maintenance. Unless you're wanting to plant your aquarium I would recommend sticking to river rocks or other suitable substrate. If you choose to use this product I definitely recommend switching from the sponge filter to floss. I am using a 100% polyester crafter's stuffing and it is excellent at catching all the dust.

Kent Marine AKMAD1400 Aquadose Drip for Aquarium, 1400ml

While the device pictured is the larger volume system (5 gal vs 1400 ml), the tubing included and the tubing described in the instructions for the 1400 ml set-up are not the same. The critical difference in the included tubing and the instructions has to do with the drip counter and adapter. The drip counter and adapter is not included in the included tubing even though the instructions show it.

The model that is pictured is the 2.5 gallon size which has a larger flat bottom and the drip system mounts from on side. The one that was delivered was the 1400ml(as described) but had a totally different shape than pictured and drip system came out of bottom. Beware! look up the type on the internet and get exact details from kent marine first, then decide if this fits your space/mounting needs.
