these clips work great. my snake has yet to escape her tank. and believe me, she has tried, and how!!Read Best Reviews of Aquarium Tank Top Security Clips, Small Here
After having to move my escape-artist Syrian into a tank (shamefully, but it's the only thing she can't chew through), I discovered she could still escape from this: she'd push everything within the tank to one corner, then climb on top of the mountain, and push up the lid with her front paws. Sick of stacking law books on top and reducing her air flow, I tried these 2 little clips (hesitantly, as some reviews were not stellar)--and they worked! They really save the day. Now she can't push up the lid, though she tries and tries. But instead of pushing the lid up, she hangs from the lid with her paws, swinging away like a monkey. Crazy hammy. It was also very easy to install (took about 2 minutes), and easy to open and close every day.
NOTE: I couldn't find these at my local pets stores (including Petco, who's listed as the seller here). So online it had to be.Clips were too large for my cover and weird to configure to the tank. Instructions were not helpful. Once we figured it out they are not very secure. May have to buy another cover for the tank

I had a very large 30' X 9' pond. I used this product along with 2 pressurized filters. Never did clear up the pond, even with constant vacuuming. Algaefix Marine Water Conditioner
Pros
Controls algae! Cleaned up my tank, could see a difference after the first dose, not only hair algae, but nuisance Fern-like algae as well. I did not experience any Red Slime Algae issues that many reviewers experienced.
Cons
Some of my soft corals have had negative effects; my cabbage coral hasn't opened since the first dose over a month ago. My buttery yellow toadstool coral that used to have green tips is now 2 different shades of brown.
I stopped dosing a few weeks back, and hoping the corals recover.
I fault myself for dosing too long, as I've read it's best to dis-continue after a month of dosing.
Like the title states. Does what it advertises, but a few trade offs.

I bought this to try and combat some hair algae I have in my 93 gallon salt water tank. I went through the whole bottle and nothing in the tank changed. Hair algae is still there as ever. Save your money and don't buy this stuff.Used as recommended on my marine tank, did not do anything to the algae. I would not purchase this item again. This is a very good algae exterminator, i use this for only one week to take away algae of my reef... if you use directly in the algae is more eficient.OSI Smooth Bark Tree Stump Aquatic Ornament Medium
It's just a little bigger than my fist.
Pretty disappointed by its sizeI have two planted petco 6.6 gallon bookshelf aquariums with ferns and mosses, one with cherry shrimp and the other with blue shrimp. I wanted to add some driftwood because of the nice effect it gives the tanks but was afraid it might change the ph and affect my shrimp. I decided to try something artificial but something replicating the real thing. I stumbled upon these tree stumps, ordered the medium and small and they are so real looking and beautiful. Definitely a great addition to my aquariums. People think they are wood and I just play along and keep my little secret. Great little stumps!
I also replaced the fluorescent light fixtures that came with the tanks "too hot" with beamswork 400 led light, perfect!!!

Item arrived quickly, packaged great if I was commenting on just the shipping they'd get 5 stars. The item is SMALL! Not as tall as a pair of scissors and certainly not medium sized in any sense. Not at all worth the money. I purchased this as well as an "xtra large" to put in a tall 55 gallon tank, the xlarge hasnt arrived yet, but if the medium is anything to go by, I'm going to have to figure out some other way to decorate my tank. Dont waste your money.Read Best Reviews of OSI Smooth Bark Tree Stump Aquatic Ornament Medium Here
I bought this for my large tank and it is a great way to add some hiding areas for smaller fish and create some realness to the environment. It cleans easily and arrived promptly from the supplier.Want OSI Smooth Bark Tree Stump Aquatic Ornament Medium Discount?
Great looking plastic decoration. Many people have commented that it looks real. Easy to clean with a small toothbrush. The only thing I don't like is that the stump-like base of it was not flat so it's hard to stand up in sand (I have mine standing like a tree and have moss growing on the branches).Maxi-Jet Pro Aquarium Pump
Update: Since using them for a little while I can see no problems with their reliability and they are solid powerheads like other marineland products. I do however have a little problem with them heating up my tank water. Since I live in a tropical climate my tanks are naturally around 82 to 84 degrees which is warm enough already. I put two in a thirty gallon tank and my tanks temperature skyrocketed to 90 degrees! I have since moved them into my 125 gallon and have no problems with them raising the temperature. Could be great if you live in a colder climate which could save you money on a heater!
Update #2: After using them in circulation mode for a while I have noticed that they have a huge problem creating heat. They give off so much heat that they have even become a problem in my 125 gallon tank. I had to take one off and am now only running one of them. The temperature increase is not noticable with only one of them, but when I try to run two of them it can go up to 88 degrees (normal temperature hovers around 82-84 degrees) in my 125 gallon tank. The reason why I say 88 degrees and not higher is because when I noticed the temperature was that high I took one of them off imediately. Would be great using them in a cooler climate (would take some of the strain off your heater), but here in Hawaii it can be a problem. They are still silent and dont seem like they are anywhere near breaking. The trio of suction cups hold on good and strong. They do make a rather loud clicking/grinding noise when first starting them up (after unplugging them) that makes me think like they might break, but after a few seconds they start up perfectly and do their job very quietly. I think the problem is their large power consumption compared to other circulation powerheads/pumps. I have two Hydor Koralia Evo 1400's that dont even come close to heating the water even in my 30 gallon tank (they also dont make the loud clicking noise when restarting). Still if your looking for a cheap circulation/powerhead and you live in a cool climate, or only want to use one in a large tank, or have a really large tank, they work great. Don't know what happened to other reviewers maxijet pro's but mines are really really quiet, infact over time they have become SILENT. I have to literally put my ear up to the tank where they are mounted to hear anything from them, even then they are still hard to hear (after the restart that is).I have some old Maxi-jet 1200's...they have white impellers & work wonderfully. I needed to add one more & so I figured I'd stick with what's worked well for me in the past. It seems Marineland has changed their models..the new one has a different impeller (it's purple, so that's how you know when you got one of the new terrible ones). The first one I got, the impellers SHEARED OFF completely within a day. So I exchanged it out for a new one...the impeller on it was wobbly & made so much noise it wasnt worth keeping.
I'm so disappointed in these new pumps. It's too bad they couldn't have stuck with their old quality designs. DO NOT BUY.

I needed a pump to use in a sump I was building. Only needed about 100gph of flow going back into the aquarium from the sump. This was perfect, it's actually more than I need which is good.*** FLOW RATINGS
It's rated for 1,300GPH, which is based on open-flow. Meaning just being used as a powerhead to push water around an aquarium. It comes with a screw (propeller) and an enclosure, and it will DEFINITELY move your water around fast. For "pump" mode, it's rated at 295gph open flow.
With the fittings I used, the smallest restriction is 3/8". The tubing is 1/2". I'm able to get over 200gph of return flow with this setup, which I have to dial-down using a gate valve in order to maintain my precise needs. Remember, more GPH is BETTER than less, because you can't dial-up the flow.
*** FITTINGS AND STUFF
This comes with everything you need for almost any purpose. It has the normal powerhead fittings, as well as a complete screw/cover kit, suction-cup kit, air-scavanger tubing, flow angle thingy, and a really long cord.
*** IT ISN'T LOUD AT ALL
I can't even hear the thing running inside of my sump. If your pump or the direct fittings coming off of it are touching something, then yes you will hear the noise of the pump. The water itself makes no noise. It's no louder than any other powerhead I've tried.
*** SUMMARY
You can't beat the price and speed of shipping when purchasing it through Amazon Prime. Even my local Care A Lot couldn't get it for as cheap!I just purchased a Maxi-Jet 1200 to replace a unit that finally died. I figured I might as welll replace it with the same model as I had not had any problems with the original one. Well I received it today and was excited to install it. Got it all set up and plugged in and sat down on the couch to marvel at the tank. Within 10 minutes the pump stop working. When I went to open the unit I found a propellerless purple impeller (the old one was white). Im pretty disappointed as I thought that Marineland was a name that I could trust...I guess not anymore. The pump moves plenty of water in my 120, but it only ran four days, before it self-destructed. The impeller flew apart and rendered the pump useless. Like I saw in another review mine was the purple impeller. When assembled as a wave maker the pump did move a lot of water, in fact to much water in my 120. Not necessarily a bad thing but worth noting.

Overall I like the Thermopond and I'm going to try another one. It worked great for 3.5 years and has a long power cord. The company does honor their warranty and has fast turn around. The current temp is +5F so I need to do something fast. The modes of failure described elsewhere do seem to be common I've experienced both myself. From just failing to turn on to taking on water and sinking. When it it works it works great.I purchased my first one back in 2005 and it worked fine the first year, but the next year it didn't even turn on. The company quickly and without hassle sent me a replacement. The second unit had been working like a charm since 2006... It started working fine this season and then around Christmas 2009 the GFCI popped. I went out and noticed that the thermopond was listing to one side and semi-submerged. It was full of water and the plastic on the underside was deformed and puffed out.
I live in northern Vermont. Thermopond has kept a hole all winter no matter what the temp is (-10F a few years ago). The ice depth was ~10 inches last year and I could see down through the thermopond to the bottom of the pond. I pull it up to check on the fish and they swim over to see me through the hole. I also have a small winter pump (650gph) running as a homemade bubbler. The pump keeps a hole in the ice down to +15F (lower when there's a lot of snow holding the ground temp in). The two manage to keep a very large (25%) opening when the temps are in the upper 20's and mid-30's. My pond is about 2000 gals (3100gph summer pump). I also put out a whip a few years ago to hold the cord up out of the water and keep the thermopond from drifting around in the wind.
Thermopond works, just be prepared to buy a new one every 3 or 4 years ($14 per year). Weigh that with a lower electric bill and this does seem to be a good deal. I'm hoping they've improved the design since I last bought it.

I have a 220 gallon backyard pond, and live in Chicago. I used to use pumps to agitate the water and keep an open spot that way, but the small size pumps I used were not all that durable. I bought this de-icer for less then the price of a 300 GPH pump. I did read all the reviews, and some said the de-icer was not as durable as it should be, but most of those reviews were from a couple years back so I am thinking they have improved it.This de-icer has maintained a small opening in the ice all Winter. The temperature has dropped down to single digits for brief periods as well as some spells in the teens.
This product meets my needs quite well. Next Winter I will buy another one and save it as a back up de-icer and consider it insurance.

Using 100 watts could be costly to keep this plugged in all the time. I just ran an extension cord to my garage and turned it on when i noticed the water began to freeze. We had 4 inches of ice on our pond this last winter and this heater worked flawlessly.Perfecto Manufacturing APFR01062 36-Inch Marineland Plastic Glass Canopy Back Strip for Aquarium, M

Take Care!
~KristiFits my filter very well. I'm going to give it some time to see how well it cleans. I've been using a "sock" filled with carbon. This one feels better and seems to expose more surface area to the water. I had to rinse it very well before the water would run clear. Lots of carbon dust in this. The price might be more than I want to pay compared to my aquarium sock, but, we'll see. This really is super convenient.

this really cleared up my fish tank which tends to get a brown tinge to it. My only issue (which isn't a big one) is that when you rinse it off the water turns black and this doesn't go away that's just how it is and i feel like that'll be leaking into the tank itself (which isn't to big of a deal since the water goes through it anyway) but it kept my tank clear for about a month maybe a little longer and now it needs a change.... overall a good product.Read Best Reviews of API Super Activated Carbon Pouch Size 6 Here
