Aquavista 500 Wall Mounted Aquarium with Coral Reef Background
1. Purchased Product, Received Product fairly quick. Missing Mint Cloth, Screws & Hardware, also the entire lightning balast system /including bulb.
No problem? Just exchange it right? Wrong. 2nd Product Received with the same accessories missing plus a plastic part on the aquiarum cover/lid was broke off. And instead of the aquarium saying Aquavista (under where the frame goes, it said "china" embedded in the plastic.)
Hmm.. I think to myself.. This can't happen a third time can it? Why, Yes it can! It came from china. Same missing accessories: Screws & Hardware, cloth, lightning ballast system + bulb. Wow, Right off the bat someone would rate this a 1 star.. Not me, I'm willing to give it a shot!
I call Amazon, they told me to contact Aquavista. Aquavista Customer Service Support was very nice, they sent me Lightning Ballast + bulb that i had to install / + free filters.
After setting up this aquarium, i had bought my own pebbles / Rocks. ( this will become a nightmare as small rocks will fall in the filteration area and become stuck). I followed the manual, waited to put fish in tank.
I have had a horrible time with this tank, I have to clean this tank at least once every week otherwise the tank becomes filthy and fish start dying. I have had horrible, horrible experiences with this tank. Here's one to mention. One morning, GloTetra Disappeared. Hmm.. Where he go? Called aquavista. They told me to check behind the aquarium background. (was really fun trying to take this off after setting aquarium up.) Long story short, in the bottom right side of tank, theres a small hole (between black filter cover and background in corner of tank) where little fishies can get through. SO, Mr. Fish was stuck behind the tank. Long story short, becasue i had to bend background alittle to get fish on other side, small rocks fell between the plastic and background to where the picture would not fit the way it should. Had to take the entire tank apart, fake aquarium plants, small ship, fish, rocks.. everything. This was truely a nightmare. This didn't happen once, but three times. Once with a albino frog (didn't have to take the tank apart because he was easier to get) and also a neon tetra who is decaying in the bottom of the tank under the black filter. Oh yes, this causes disease and all fish will die, Except my Pleco + Frog. I have bought a water testing kit before all of this happened, and the ammoneia levels were extremely high. (50-100% water changes + cleaning of all objects/rocks) per week. To top things off? If you accidently overfill the aquarium with water (there is a meter) water will drip on your floor. But one time dripped on the right side instead of the left side. This caused the LCD touchpad + Screen to short out. Aquavista customer server was extremely nice, and sent me another one for me to replace. I paid $ 140 160 for this product and felt that I extremely over paid for cheap china plastic and poor quality. Poor Filtration in a 5.5 Gal = Death to all fish (cept pleco+frog or other high immune system species)
I would not have gotten this product if I would have known all of this could happen. It's truely a beautiful tank when it is lit up and turned on. Then the beautiful moment is ruined by fish who sink to the bottom of your tank lifeless and dead. Go to your local pet store to buy an aquarium worth spending this much money on.
EDIT 8/4/11: Yep, so.. My frog pretty much lives behind the fish tank and comes out when he wants to.. Great conversation piece to tell people why my frog is stuck behind the "design flawed" tank. Yeah... I've tried blocking all areas where he could possibly get behind with the white rocks it came with.. somehow he manages to still get behind there.. fkn frog.We purchased our Aquavista 500 tank a few weeks ago. We just love it. We mounted it in our family room and it has become a true conversation piece and a hobby for our family. It took a few hours to mount but that was because I wanted as much electrical hidden as possible. Other than that, the process was easy and as our first aquarium, it is very easy to take care of. I really like how everything is built right in. The programming is simple and we like having the ability to set the timers for lighting, etc. We have two small fish and a dwarf frog in the tank and they all seem happy.

First off, it was missing hardware to put it on the wall.Very hard to assemble. It is a very pretty scene, but do not and I repeat put it anywhere in the house where you are going to sleep because it is extremely noisy.
We bought this for our son's room because not only does he like fish, but it was decorative.Only thing was that it kept him up all night long with the noise the motor made.
Very disappointed because i had been thinking of getting this for about 2 years and kept putting it off.Should have kept with my first instinct.

This is an absolutely amazing product. It brings a new life to any room that you place it in and brings the calm and relaxing feeling that comes with a brilliant fish tank. The internal components, which consists of a filter, heater, air pump and light make this product easily to maintain which in turn makes it fun to own. It took me about an hour to measure out and install the unit, and I then used cable management to hide the power cable. I will be posting pictures later today. In addition to the great product, the customer service provided by Scott was simply outstanding. He was able to provide immediate support and called me back within minutes. Cheers to a great product with great service!!

I bought this aquarium for my husband for his birthday. We have a few aquariums in the house already and I was looking for something a bit different. We love this aquarium. It looks great on the wall. You can purchase different frames to match your decor. It was not difficult to set up and so far has been easy to maintain.Eclipse Aquarium Filtration and Lighting System
I would also highly recommed purchasing and studying several books on fishkeeping (I bought and read at least 4) before purchasing any system and definitely before purchasing any fish!
Good luck and happy fishkeeping!Yes, I noticed the rattling problem with the pump. It seems that if the impeller isn't inserted just right then there is this really annoying grating noise that over time will drive you nuts. But the solution is simple, take it apart, make sure everything is clean and spinning freely and just start it up again (something you will need to do anyway from time to time for maintenance).
I find the filter setup to work well though, and the overall design to be quite good.
The lighting? Whether you like it or not depends on whether you want real plants or not. 36 watts for a 25 gallon tank, like mine, is not going to cut it. So you have to find a retrofit system. Sunpaq has some options, but you're going to have to be fairly handy with some tools.
I ended up just removing the stock lighting and then cutting out a slot from both the front and back lift up covers and sticking a Coralife 130w unit over the top of the whole thing. About 5 watts per gallon will "get-er-done".
My advise to the Marineland people is to have some different lighting options available for their all-in-one hoods. I think they'd sell more, or at least be able to sell some retrofits or upgrades once people figure out that the stock system has these limitations. As is, the retrofits are coming from other companies.
I bought the thing because the sales dude told me I could upgrade the lighting later. He either knowingly lied, or didn't explain that I would be looking at an exciting retrofit project. ;o)

I purchased this tank 9 months ago and have been fairly happy with it. It looks nice. I love the rounded corners which look much better than the glued glass panes. The acrylic material is still holding up, but I am a lot more careful cleaning it than with glass. The only problem I've had with this unit is a rattling noise that seems to come from the hood. It can be quite for 10 minutes to a couple of days. Then it starts rattling. I adjust the hood and it goes away. Lately, in the last couple of weeks the pump has started with some serious rattling which I can't get rid of. It annoys me and I am sure the fish are even more annoyed. I cleaned the impeller and every surface of the pump, but without luck. So I think I have to go buy a new pump.Read Best Reviews of Eclipse Aquarium Filtration and Lighting System Here

2) It should have NEVER been listed as a PRIME item with 2 day shipping.
3) If you (AMAZON) can't get it or don't have it in stock then just tell me (my fish (2 out of 3 left now) lives depend on it.

This is my second Eclipse 3 [not 2 as sold above] for my 29-gallon tank. I love the convenience of it, etc. But the hood light has never properly worked -not on the first one, which I had for nearly three years, nor on the new one. Only one bulb illuminates -unless you take the darned thing apart and do quite a bit of maneuvering daily. Just thought I should share that with all.API Rena FilStar Aquarium Filter XP3
What does 'Topdawg' pet supplies think they're doing? Are they some kind of money laundering scheme or something? Surely nobody would be dumb enough to pay more than twice the cost as the other guy (I think they're called "That Fish Place, that Pet Place)?

I purchased this vacuum to help clean the bottom of a 45 gallon fresh water tank. I was leary at first since it was the first siphon vacuum I'd purchased, but was very pleased with the results immediately!I place a 5 gallon bucket on the floor, place the end of the hose into the bucket and secure it with the clip provided. I then place the vacuum in the tank, shake it up and down quickly to start the suction, and then take it to the bottom of the tank. It takes me about 10 minutes from start to finish! If you work quickly, it takes out approximately 25% of the water in the tank. Perfect solution for a clean tank and a water change!
You must work quickly once the vacuum starts or you could easily end up removing more water, but makes cleaning and water changes quick and easy!

I have a 20 gallon fish tank. Cleaning the tank and changing the water took too much time before I used the 9-inch Aqueon Siphon. Learning the rhythm to get the siphon vacuum suction started can seem difficult at first. However, it is easy to start when the vacuum is completely submerged in the water and the end of the hose is a significant distance below your tank. Worked best for me when my bucket and end of the hose were at least three feet below the siphon within the fish tank. The hose is 6-feet long.Want Aqueon Medium Siphon Vacuum Aquarium Gravel Cleaner Discount?
I thought this might have been too small for my tank at first but I used it once already and absolutely LOVE IT! I have a 50 gallon tank with sand and this little siphon really sucked up all the crud. I have a tank full of mystery snails and livebearers and didn't have any issues with it sucking up fry. It is easy to use and works wonderful. Highly recommend!Hydor Deco Classic Collection Ancient Ruins Aquarium Ornament Kit, Pyramid
The instructions for this is very odd. Over all it is not complex once you figure it out, but getting to that point is kind of frustrating. There are TWO different models of this so look at the air pump motor of the one you got to tell them apart before you begin to assemble it. Also, the suction cups for the base are in their own little pack and are not in the same pack with the suction cups for the cords. Look for those first because you will need them first to go onto the base. After that slide the air pump motor onto the base and affix the air pump intake hose. From there the instructions are pretty easy to follow.
My only issue is the mass of black cords I now have the job of hiding in my tank. Ugh. Oh and the box it was packaged in really didn't fit the product, but it got it here so I guess that's all that matters. It seems as if the person that wrote the first review didn't read the directions or doesn't know how to properly install equipment... Also, there's really no reason why you should be trying an air pump out of the water. That being said, if you read the directions and install it properly, you will have yourself an awesome piece for your aquarium that you can enjoy!

The packaging and shipping were awesome. The product itself was a piece of ****. The air pump worked when tested out of water, as soon as it was submerged it shorted and died. After all the work of setting up in my aquarium I was so angry I smashed it to pieces (Can't return now..oops.). So pretty much I paid $60 dollars for some LED'S that change color, Great! (Sarcasm). Not Amazon's fault it is the fault of the manufacturer. Do not waste your money. Buy some submersible LED's from china on Ebay and a separate air pump, it will cost less and will work. The only reason I gave one star is because the light works.Read Best Reviews of Hydor Deco Classic Collection Ancient Ruins Aquarium Ornament Kit, Pyramid Here
Hydor ARIO 1 Aerator Internal Venturi Air Pump for Aquariums 3-13 gal
However, this one was good for me because it came with everything I needed. When you buy the airstones, you normally have to buy a few things separately to make it work (the tubing, the airpump). I wouldn't have known what to buy if I had done that.
This one would probably work better with smaller tanks. I would recommend up to ten gallons. This is, mechanically, the CO2 diffuser/reactor Hydor use to sell (but has since discontinued). AS an aerator, the other review probably is accurate works for up to a 10, maybe 20 gallon tank for oxygenating.
The same issue that was so very common with the same device as a CO2 reactor carries over to this product the tiny sponge (blue on this model, was black/dark grey on the old reactor) gets plugged up fairly quickly with debris and gunk, so has to be cleaned out fairly regularly or it loses its effectiveness.
This is an alternative that works just know that some maintenance is necessary.
And to the previous reviewer the reason you can't/shouldn't completely burry this in the gravel it will "eat" small bits of gravel and jam or even ruin the impeller. It is designed to be buried all the way to the bottom of the upper housing, so only area where the bubbles come out is exposed.

The tanks is nice but the feeding hole could be bigger. The flakes get stuck and won't fall through so you have to lift the cover. I bought this for my 9 yr old son but won't let him feed the fish for fear that when he removes the lighted cover he might accidently drop it onto the water and electrocute himself. The tank size is nice and it has a large viewing area. It doesn't take up much counter space at all and the lighting is very vibrant. The filter is very loud though. Overall looks great but with a few tweaks it could have been perfect.Want Aquarius Aq12500 Aquawave 2-1/2-Gallon Aquarium Kit Discount?
Under gravel filter? More like a black slightly raised floor with a pump blowing air through an air stone (though my air stone was missing). It would never work for anything other than a betta. That being said, my betta is swimming around his big new space quite happily. The front warps the view of the fish a little bit, but I don't mind it. The blue LED light is a nice addition and really brings out the color in my guy. I've had it a week and so far, so good, though I can't imagine ever finding a replacement when the light fails. But for a cheap tank with a funky touch, it's fine.
