Lee's Super Algae Scrubber w/Handle for Glass Tanks - Coarse

Lee's Super Algae Scrubber w/Handle for Glass Tanks - CoarseThe more products I try from Lee's the more impressed I am with the quality and value. A long time hobbyist of 35 years it seems the battle against Algae is one that will rage on indefinatley. This scrubber is excellent, good and coarse spun nylon it makes removal as much of a breeze as possible, it's great for the sides and bottom using the edge is perfect for those hard to reach places.

A few of my tanks get indirect sunlight so for those it's a weekly effort and I'll be buying more of these so I have one for most of my tanks. Which BTW, is important especially if you keep a variety of different species in seperate aquariums. Cross contamination has long been linked to the dreaded toxic tank syndrome so best to have gear that's dedicated to one specific tank.

It is a decently priced cleaner, but the handle is on the shorter end. It does a good job in my glass tank. I still end up having my hands wet if I clean all the way to the bottom of the glass though. If the handle had a length adjustment of sorts that would have been perfect!

Buy Lee's Super Algae Scrubber w/Handle for Glass Tanks - Coarse Now

The length of the handle is more than adequate for any aquarium 16 inches in height or less and quite sturdy. It cleans the glass well and is easy to clean the after use.

I bought this to clean my aquarium glass and it works great! It scrubs the algae right off the glass.

does the job of scrubbing algae nothing more nothing less. Algae doesn't stick to the pad unless your tank is dry if it's wet the algae just washes off the pad and back into the tank.

Mythical Magic Castles Aquarium Ornament

Mythical Magic Castles Aquarium Ornamentthese auquariums castles are beautiful!!!

gives your fish places to hide/a home and makes the tank look WOW!

fits any size tank anyway the samller ones will but the largest castle needs to be in at least a 10 gallon if not larger.

my fish love these Castles..

and these do not look cheap.

I bought 3 of these castles and I am so pleased with them. They look like quality and give the tank a beautiful look with the fish. I really didn't want rainbow colors or something tacky so this really makes a statement and showcases the fish nicely. Thank you!

This Aquarium castle looks better in person. It has more color than the photo shows. The roofs are blue. It looks perfect in my fish tank, surrounded by plants.

The castle is nice but I have a 125 gallon tank and I thought it'd be a lot bigger than it is. My eel and one of my catfish love the castle but it wont last long b/c they will each get around 12 inches. But its deff. a nice castle. Just not a good fit for big fish.

I'd defiantly recommend this product. Put it in my 20 gallon tank and my fish swim inside through it and it's fun to watch:)

Really nice thick glass. Not too heavy either. But the mouth is wider than shown in the picture. Good size.

Aqueon Evolve 2 LED Aquarium Kit, 2 gallons

Aqueon Evolve 2 LED Aquarium Kit, 2 gallonsI own the 2 gallon model of this aquarium which comes (as of this review) in 2, 4 and 8 gallon models. I can only speak towards the 2 gallon version, though it seems reasonable to expect that all three equally share the same pros and cons.

Overall this is a nice tank. Complete with power filter, LED lighting with daylight and moonlight modes and lids (one for the back filter section and one for the overall front aquarium section).

THE LED LIGHT

Is pretty nice. The daylight mode is very bright, impressively so. It shows every ripple of water producing that often sought after dancing affect. Even the moonlight mode is bright enough to produce this affect, yet not so bright as to be mistaken for anything but moonlighting.

THE FILTER

I personally do not like cartridge filtration that I must replace often. Instead I put a small bag of "bio-max" (the AquaClear 20 version) in the filter section with two sponges (also AquaClear 20 version) for the filtration. It does come with a nano sized version of the standard Aqueon filter cartridge, which works really well, I just prefer the former setup. The filter area also has plenty of room for a nano aquarium heater to be put out of sight! Big plus, IMHO, as heaters tend to be an eye-sore, especially in such a small tank as this one (2 gallons).

The pump on mine was not attached to the output nozzle new from the box. The easiest way to get the pump up and out to attach everything correctly will be by pulling on the power cord. Please note that the bottom of the pump has suction cups, and when you put it back down in, it will stick. Sometimes when pulling it back out the suction cups will come off. A very small fish net will easily fish them out, and they are easy to snap back on the pump itself. The pump has a good bit of power for such a small tank as this (2 gallons), but I discovered that the pump is adjustable! There is a circular slider on the side of the pump which will cut the flow down greatly, perfect for a Betta. I've got mine set to the most minimum output.

THE AQUARIUM

Is nicely done, elegant and light-weight. The aquarium is acrylic so one must use all the same cautions and maintenance as any other acrylic aquarium.

THE LIDS

Now this is where I wonder what they were thinking. The lids just don't seem to fit right. They DO fit, and work, but they just aren't right. They are a little too wide and don't seem to be deep enough. I'll try and upload pictures. Nevertheless, they are not cheap feeling. I don't think I'm being picky here, they just need minor adjustments to be perfect. This is not a deal breaker though, and I think most people won't even use the main front lid, but the back only.

I hope that this review is helpful, and I would highly recommend this tank.

===========================

UPDATE

After having this tank for a while now, I did decide, since my original review above, to perform a modification to the flow as I now believe the flow is a little strong for a betta. I simply drilled holes in the small tube that runs from the pump to the outlet, thereby decreasing the water flow a good bit more, and my betta seem happier. He did alright before, but with the reduced flow he is out and about more. I put a good bit of holes in the tube to really reduce the flow for the better. If your betta seems bothered by the flow, then drill the holes! I didn't even use a drill, just a drill bit in a screwdriver by hand, easy. Be sure to wash the tube to remove small particles before putting it back in the tank.

I bought this tank a little over a month ago from the Petco I actually work at. A co-worker of mine told me she was going to setup a SW pico-tank and I told her she was crazy. Well, she quickly convinced me to do the same. Let me tell you, I have no regrets.

I examined all the different size tanks before my purchase and found that all three sizes had the same size lighting arrangements. Wanting to keep corals, I knew I wanted the most wattage per gallon. The tank's actual volume appears to be only 1.7 gallons and, as mentioned in other reviews, the flow is quite strong even at the pump's lowest setting. Because it's so small, working in it can be difficult. Arranging my live rock was a chore ensuring not to scratch the acrylic. I feel the tank design could easily be achieved with glass as well. Filtration is adequate and flexible. I placed some biological media in the bottom of the reservoir in addition to the cartridge designed for the tank. Back to the LED lighting, it has kept my Duncan, Zoanth, and Ricordea in great shape and the blue moonlights really bring out their fluorescence. The lid could fit a little better but it works; though, water evaporates from this thing like crazy. They sell a heater marketed for this aquarium separately but any small, low wattage heater will suffice.

In summary, this is a great package. Somewhat on the level of a very small bio-cube, it has everything needed to sustain a quaint little ecosystem.

Buy Aqueon Evolve 2 LED Aquarium Kit, 2 gallons Now

I bought the aqueon evolve 2 because the guy at the pet store recommended it and I liked that it had a filter and a cool design. The problem was, I was going to put a twin tail halfmoon betta in there and the filter was waaaay too strong, even after I lowered the power. It pulled the beta straight to the intake and I was worried it was going to shred his poor fins, not to mention the strength of the current totally freaked him out (they like their water fairly still). I later discovered this is a problem most people have had to deal with with this model. My solution was to put a piece of filter insert foam between the intake and the charcoal filter and then disengage the tubing and the spout from the pump. This lowered the pressure of the current by diffusing the water and is keeping my betta from shredded. I was disappointed that a $60 tank (regular price) needed to be modified to keep my fish happy, but fortunately all it took was only about $3.00 in modifications and a little ingenuity. Hope this helps anyone else in this situation.

Just got off the phone with Aqueon customer service. They were very helpful. I was told that the first generation of the Evolve 2 tanks were packaged with a pump that indeed is too large for that size tank. (this implies that Aqueon has corrected the mistake for the newer generation of Evolve 2 tanks so hopefully consumers won't be having this problem much longer). In any event, as soon as I mentioned that my fish were getting sucked up into the filter intake, she confirmed that indeed the pump is too strong and immediately offered to send me a replacement pump which will be better suited for the 2 gallon tank.

For anyone who has this tank and is having problems with the pump being too strong, call customer service and give them an opportunity to make it right. Their number is 1-800-255-4527. I did not have to furnish receipts, or read UPC numbers off a box (thank goodness b/c I've already thrown it away) .... just told them I have an Evolve 2 tank and that's all they needed to know. Hopefully when my new pump arrives in a few days my last remaining guppy will be much happier.

Arg so frustrated, this tank is beautiful (light is extremely nice and makes my betta look even more beautiful) and I bought it at petsmart. So upsetting because my betta's fin got ripped up a little because of strong water flow. Would really consider buying another tank if this one broke on me, manufacturer should really consider a better filter for this small tank.

Jebo Aquarium Fish Tank Automatic Heaters 100w 40gal

Jebo Aquarium Fish Tank Automatic Heaters 100w 40galI have one of these heaters, and for some reason it allows the tank temperature to fluctuate quite a bit. :(

This heater came preset. I didn't have to adjust anything. I am using it in a 30 gal tank. It keeps the water at just the temp I want for my tropical fish. The temperature has remained constant. I had tried other brands, but they didn't do what I wanted so I searched on Amazon and found this brand. I am totally happy. I bought more for my other tanks because I was so pleased with the accuracy and temps holding constant.

Fluval Mini Power Compact Lamp - 13W

Fluval Mini Power Compact Lamp - 13WI've got two of these lights, and they work great for a 10 gallon cube for growing low-medium light plants. When these first came out in early 2011, the first batch had bulbs that burned out in a short period of time. This happened to me with my first one. I contacted Hagan (Fluval's parent company) and the shipped me a new bulb via 2-day FedEx after emailing them a copy of my receipt.

One very important note about these:

They will not fit a regular aquarium. They are designed to fit rimless tanks. So if you've got the typical black plastic rim around the top of your aquarium, find another light.

Also, the replacement bulbs are proprietary, so its a good idea to buy a replacement bulb ahead of time, rather than risk not being able to find a pet store that stocks the bulb when your burns out. If you search Google, you'll find instructions on how to modify a standard bulb to work with Fluval's proprietary connector, but to me it seemed easier to buy a new bulb than try to hack a standard one to fit.

Got this light to replace and LED light that came with my fluval spec tank, the LED light begin to flicker and going out, this one fit well and is much brighter, should be better off for my plants as well.

Excellent light with a small foot print. Perfect for a hang on back refugium. 13 Watts, 6400 Kelvin perfect spectrum for macro algae.

Con: The light must be taken apart to replace the bulb.

Using this light instead of the light that came with the fluval spec. Amazing difference! It's also sleek and attractive. There's a slight overhang in the front because it was made for the slightly deeper fluval tanks, but it's so slight I can't tell from the front. I also love that the light swivels up so I can do maintenance stress free. Easy to install and my plants so far seem to be doing just fine.

Coralife 54332 Actinic Straight Pin Compact Fluorescent Lamp, 24-WattI have an 8 and a 14G Biocube both salt and I love both of them. The lights 10,000k and Actinic 420 actually last awhile I had the same bulbs for a year I got new one's your really supposed to change them about every 6-7 months for proper coral growth. NO BS whithin the first 3 hours everything opened up and has grown tremendously in the past 3 weeks now. You might complain about the price but for what they do and how long they last their 100% worth it.

We have a 14 gallon nano tank and needed replacement lights. The fish stores charge way too much for the same product. Arrived quickly and was well packaged so no breakage. Works great!

Standard Replacement bulb. Put it in to replace a blown bulb, it worked. The last one of these I had from a LFS I paid $25 for and it only lasted 4 months at 12 hours a day on. I dont know if I got a bad bulb or maybe the life span on these is kind of low. either way when I got this one for $15 How can I complain.

2 Pcs Non-return Plastic Check Valves for Aquarium Fish Tank Air Pump Tropical Marine Clear

2 Pcs Non-return Plastic Check Valves for Aquarium Fish Tank Air Pump Tropical Marine ClearWay too small to fit on any hose, useless junk valve, the opening is about 1 millimeter big. It's a fraction of the required size to remain on a hose.

Very good quality, I receibed the very fast in a bubble wrap envelope. fits very well on my tubbing and seems to be very long lasting.

Took 1 star off because after I bought this product I realized that there are other packs of these kind of check valves for the same price with 10 pieces.
