Buy Marina Battery-Operated Air Pump Now
My home unfortunately is in an area where we are frequented by power outages due to high winds. This put me in a worrying tizzy for my goldfish tank, and so I looked into getting a battery-powered pump. I decided to give this one a try. (Fortunately every time I've used it the power was shut back on within the day, so I haven't had to leave it on for an extended period.)It was easy to turn on and off, but the airstone that came with it was flimsy so I decided to attach a larger airstone to the nozzle (I don't think it made a whole lot of difference though). It produced a small amount of bubbles, about as much as you'd expect a pump of this size to make. But it did its job in that it kept the oxygen in my tanks up in place of the filter, and I have yet to lose a fish while using it. One con, it is rather noisy. It's nothing obnoxious but it is noticeable.
I cannot say for certain if it's effective for long periods of time yet. However I think it's safe to say it'd be more effective in smaller tanks, around 10-15. For anything above a 20, I'd recommend buying two of these to be safe.Had to said that I am surprised with this product, I first bought it to make sure that it was available in case of any power outage in my home due to weather condition, since I live in Puerto Rico and this is the peek time of storms and so. Yesterday I was able to try it, power out and pump on, at first I thought battery will run out and it will be noisy, wrong in both, it last for as long as 12 hours+(the time power was out)and you can hardly hear it, fishes seem happy around it lots of bubbles out of the tiny stone, the only thing I can said is that the tube is short, although not a big issue for something that is for emergency only. Great Product overall!! Very happy with it! :-)JUNK---did not work AT ALL -dumped brown battery acid into transport container and kiled 3 of my saltwater fish. i put it in a 5 gallon bucket--it bubbled for a few minutes and stopped..I was in the process of moving so i left it in as my only option...only to take it out 2 hours later and it leaked brown water into the container.
