Aqueon Submersible Aquarium Heaters

Aqueon 06104 Submersible Aquarium Heaters, 300 WattI believe this product may have a manufacturers defect. I ordered one from allpet.com and followed the instructions very carefully. set the temp and placed in the water immediately bubbles started coming up from the top cap which i did not at first believe was a problem. after about an hour in the submerged water i noticed that water had collected at the bottom of the heater. i notified allpet and they immediately sent me a replacement no charge. then again yesterday i again followed the instructions with the new replacement but this time no bubbles came up. after an hour in the water i plugged in the heater and it worked like a champ. THEN, bubbles started coming up from the cap again! i had to turn off the entire circuit in my house to avoid being shocked (this is what they tell you to do in the instructions). im pretty annoyed at this point perhaps this heater is NOT fully submersible. i am going to see if i can get another replacement from allpet to see if the heater works without being fully submerged. thus far quite a waste of time and energy.

NOTE: AllPet has responded very quickly to this issue thus far and is in no way responsible for this defect as far as i can tell. i will post the results of the 3rd heater once i test it.

My only complaint is that the heat from the unit has caused dried burnt on crusty stuff, I am quessing the aquarium sludge, as I keep 12 pretty large Koi in my aquarium after losing my pond.Heats too well almost, on the lowest setting it keeps the water about 75, the koi seem to be thriving though as they eat more often and have grown inches in the past 2 months.

Great service..will use again..

I use this for my 100 gallon tank and I couldn't be happier. I have been using it for about the last year and it has worked perfectly since day one. It is really simple to hook up and use. I would highly recommend this product.

My 55 Gallons Fish tank with my 8 year old gold fishes moved with me several places over the years and my tank and heater survived all these years, but recently on a one cold winter morning while I was changing water on my fish tank the old heater's thermostat gave way and overheated the heater and it blew into pieces, Thankfully I was quick enough to disconnect power and save myself and my fishes.

This made me hunt for a new Aquarium heater, Came across this heater and I am glad that I made a good decision in buying it.

As the packing indicates "It's all about your fishes", If you love your fishes, you will pay for a heater to keep them comfortable during cold winter times, The Aqueon 150 Watt Heater which is reviewed here works well for tank gallons upto 55.

PROS:

[+] Well packaged and comes with all the accessories (Suction Cups) to mount inside the fish tank.

[+] Goes well with any aquarium due to the clear glass housing and fishes do not mind it.

[+] Can be mounted vertically or horizontally fully submersed into the fish tank.

CONS:

[-] It is shatter resistant but not really shatter-proof, you still need to be careful while changing water in the tank if the room temperature is below 68F.

[-] As this is only 150Watt heater, it takes considerably long time to heat the tank full of water for the first time use (generally more than 12-24 hrs)

The only reason this product did not get 5 stars is that it took a long time to heat my 55 gallon tank when compared with other Aquarium heaters I have used before.

General Note:

----------------

ALWAYS disconnect Aquarium heater's power plug before putting your hand into water for cleaning or water changing no matter how safe the product may be.

Aqueon Aquarium heaters are made in Italy! They come with Lifetime warranty! It is slightly pricey than other Aquarium heaters in the market (just by few dollars) But these heaters are very accurate when it comes to maintaining temperature for the fish tank in use.

You can buy them with confidence!

Until today I thought this heater was the cat's meow.

Granted, it is indeed true that the temperature gauge isn't totally on the money. 84 degrees may actually produce 86-degree water. You have to have a thermometer. I had this heater in my 55-gallon with another heater and never had a problem. When I had an ich outbreak, the two together did a great job of keeping the water at 87 degrees.

Today I moved the heater to the other side of the tank. There was no trauma to the tube, but when I plugged it back in, it began to make a knocking noise. At first I thought it was the filter or the glass on my tank cracking. It knocks when the light is on, when it's heating. I just can't afford to have a disaster in my tank with glass and electricity, so I have removed it. I have read about this and I am not the first person to hear their Aqueon knock. It's often accompanied by condensation inside the tube. The noise is enough to make me toss this thing in the trash before it does damage. It's disappointing, because until today, I thought it was the perfect heater.

EDIT: A week later, I have it in a tank I'm cycling, and it hasn't been knocking. I'm not going to change the number of stars I gave it, because I don't entirely trust this heater. For the moment, it's working perfectly. I don't feel comfortable putting it back into my glass 55-gallon though.
