The filter (which is the same for all tank sizes) works rather efficiently in the 9 gallon tank and is very quiet. It fits conveniently and snug into the back inside corner of the tank which allows for the tank to be placed closer to the wall or in tight spaces if needed. The filter is easy to open or remove for simplified changing of filter media. Although the filter media doesn't need changing very often, its a plus for it to be quick and easy.
The light is bright and reaches all parts of the 9 gallon tank. Plants in need of moderate light can definitely grow in this tank without modification. I have not tried growing plants that need lighting that is more than moderate, so I cannot speak on that behalf. The light can be adjusted back and forth between the metal prongs and is held very securely in place. I imagine that an additional light can be purchased and snapped in place as there is room for more than one light.
The tank is unlike any other because the front corners are completely seamless with rounded edges so that one pane of glass is folded to form the front and sides for optimal viewing. Other frame-less tanks bring together two panes with sealant or bonding liquid which creates less desirable viewing angles. Moreover, this tank comes in a 9 gallon size which gives the marine-life enthusiast more freedom to add to their nano system without taking up the space or surface area that larger tanks require.
The lid that comes with the tank could be improved. It fits nicely and precisely onto the top without distracting the view. However, it does not allow space for additional cords that may be necessary. My heater cord, for example, does not fit with the glass top. For this reason, I leave the glass top off. However, it is true that having a glass top helps reduce temperature fluctuation caused by changes in the outside environment and slows evaporation because it catches the condensation and drips back into the tank.
Buy EHEIM Aquastyle Nano Aquarium Now
I got this aquarium a while ago for freshwater planted aquarium. I truly enjoy every aspect of it. It looks classy, great quality build, extremely quiet filter and the light is intense enough for freshwater planted aquarium. If you want to go reef you can always upgrade the lighting by adding another LED Pod directly to the existing lighting system. The extra LED Pod can be purchased directly from Eheim. The led light can be purchased with Full spectrum or Full Actinic or 2/3 actinic and 1/3 full spectrum.I recommend this aquarium if you are looking to set up a nano planted aquarium or a reef.
5 Star for design.
5 Star for quiet filter.
5 Star for quality build.
5 Star for customer satisfaction.
5 Star when compared to other brands like JBJ, EcoPico, etc (I used them both).

I was looking for a great way to start a nano tank. I came across this little gem online and knew I had to have it. My plan was to set it up as a reef but I don't feel that there is enough lighting to do so. I love the overall look and design of the tank. That LED light provides more that enough light for plants I'm just afraid to attempt any coral. 5stars for everything you could ask for in a tank just had to give it 4stars because of the LED. My fault not Eheim.Want EHEIM Aquastyle Nano Aquarium Discount?
Really like this aquarium. Been keeping aquariums on and off since I was a kid. I bought the 9 gallon version for a plant tank on my desk. Works out great. The light it came with is pretty bright, but I don't have anything to measure it with so can't quantify it. Anywho, decided I wanted a little more light so I bought the 4 gallon version and thought I'd use the light from that one on the 9 gallon in addition to the one that's already on there. Since the power is conducted along the bars that the light is attached to you can just attach another one to it. Interesting thing was that when I did the color temperature of the light from the 4 gallon tank was a different color temp. The 9 gallon came with what seems to be around 6500-7000K light. The smaller tank came with what looks like a 5000K light. So, I just noticed after looking at the boxes that the 9 gallon says on it For Freshwater or Marine, while the 4 gallon says For Freshwater.Just thought it was interesting. I'd actually like to buy another of the 6500K lights, but can't seem to find it.
