I have gone through a few name brand heaters and have always had problems with the temperature one time the temp went up to 90 degrees and another time it just quit working! This one displays the temperature digitally, and the actual water temperature is very consistent. I've used it for several months now and waited to write a review to be sure I would be happy over the long haul. It does have a separate wire for the temperature which is separate from the heating unit, so you will have an extra wire to hide in the tank. The clip that holds the digital display could be a bit thicker, but holds it OK. It does just what it says it will do and I am satisfied with my purchase.

UPDATE (7/10/11): After about only 4 months of use, this morning the heater starts making a high pitched tone. No matter what I did the unit would not stop making this tone or let me set the temperature. I give it two stars (down from 3) instead of one because at least the unit told me when it broke so I was able to get a new heater from the pet store without affecting the tank much. I think I will stay away from this brand from now on.
------------------------------------------
I bought this unit with the hopes of never having to fuss with the temperature again and it has succeeded at doing this.
I'll start with the good:
It's an attractive heater. I like the steel look.
It keeps a constant temperature.
The unit remembers my settings after power outages.
Suction cup on device is strong.
Now the bad:
The unit to control the temperature is hideous. Functional, but it takes away from the beauty of your tank if not well hidden. I also wish the cord attached to it was longer to make it easier to hide and easier to access later.
I have another thermometer in the tank. That thermometer claims the temperature is 3 degrees less than what this unit thinks it is. So now I have to go and get a third thermometer to figure out which of the two is off.
So does it keep a constant temperature? Yes. But is it reading the temperature of the water? Not sure. Fish seem to not mind either way.
