Zoo Med Betta Condo 1 Gallon Rectanular Neon Pink

Zoo Med Betta Condo 1 Gallon Rectanular Neon PinkI received this item today and am very pleased with it. I was worried after some of the reviews I read spoke about problems with cracks and leaks at the joints of the tank, but mine arrived in perfect condition with not leaks or cracks whatsoever. As for aesthetic value, I love it. SO much more appealing than a simple glass fishbowl or plain aquarium.

Does have a pink tint, but in most light it is honestly more of a neon orange color with pink tones, rather than completely pink. I still love the color, the acrylic gives a good glow under the light, and does not make it dark inside the tank at all, which I was worried about.

I purchased this as home for a single male betta, and I would honestly say it is much too small, being only a one gallon tank, for permanent residence. If you are looking for a permanent home for a betta, I would defo suggest paying the extra money for a two gallon model, for the health of your fish. I personally bought this simply as a test run, to see if I liked the product itself before shelling out twenty extra dollars for the larger model. I was able to get this one for only 7 dollars plus shipping, which was the main reason I decided to go ahead and test it out.

As a word of warning, when I took the plastic wrap off the tank, the smell of acrylic nearly knocked me over. It smelled like walking directly into the chemical room of a nail salon. However the smell was all but gone after the packaging was removed, and the tank itself was odorless. Not sure why that smell was so strong, perhaps trapped air from the factory? Anyway, I was just glad the smell was not part of the tank, I would not have used it if it had been for fear of killing the fish.

It came with a small booklet about betta care, which has basic information about betta and also serves as a product catalog. It also came with a small package of betta pellet food and another of water conditioner, as well as some little stick on grips for the Nice little extras.

DOES NOT include any sort of gravel or decor, you will need to pick those up for a basic setup. Also recommend a thermometer, and heater if needed. I live in a warmer region so for me the heater is unnecessary, as my tank holds steady at about 75 degrees. If you want a filter, get the larger model, as a normal filter would not fit in the one gallon by far. I personally prefer water changes ever two days over filtration, for me the fish just seem to fare better in still water changed frequently, the filter only seems to stress them out. Alot of factors to that decision, depending on water quality in your area, temperature, and fish temperament/health.

Please do not purchase this as a permanent home, it is very small. I will be upgrading to a larger one within the month, as I am very pleased with the product. I will be using this as a temp home and quarantine tank after the larger one has arrived.

All in all a nice deal, but splurge for the larger version to house your betta.

Just because a Betta can survive in small conditions because in their natural environment during the drought season doesn't mean that we should keep them in those conditions. Many Bettas don't survive these rough conditions that nature provides in their home territory. If you buy small cups and throw a fish in themyou are just condemning them to solitary confinement in a prison cell. My Betta is in a 10 gallon tank and you wouldn't believe the fun he has exercising and playing in all that space. If you careyou would never subject this beautiful creature to cups of water if you saw them in gallons of HEATED (they are tropical fish) water!!!!!! Study this fish and you will understand that we take for granted their survival mechanisms and exploit them for our own foolish pleasure.
