To install I did not have to cut the background to fit my tank. I have a normal 24"x16"x12" 20 gallon tank. I simply moved my fish to a fishbowl, took out 75% of the water, tilted the tank forward to move the sand and water out of the way, had a friend put the background in place, tilted the fish tank upright, moved the sand to push against the bottom of the background to the back, clipped the top with the 3 clips it came, with filled the tank back up with water and that was it. It was a very easy install. I highly recommend this product for anyone who wants to recreate a more natural looking aquarium.Maybe I just got the proverbial 1 rotten apple out of 100 in the barrel......
The product was a great addition to my fresh water tank until the material started
to erode and crumble in 3 short months.
Have you ever seem foam material when it shreds?
In an aquarium, it will clog up your filter impeller, your fish might ingest the pieces,
and your water appearance & quality will necessitate a total tank cleanout.

I installed this in my 20 gallon high tank without any problems! I bought it in February 2012 and it still looks great. I just purchased a 46 gallon bow front tank and will be installing a Universal Rock Background in that as well. Well worth the money!!!!!
