Fish had babies that kept getting sucked into the filter. I needed to find something that would offer some cleaning but not kill the babies. Customer serivce was the best ever!

I read other reviews on here that complained about how "loud" this style of filter is, and I thought to myself, "How could a foam filter possibly be loud?"

Well, I'm here to tell you right now... this thing is loud. For some reason, the bubbles it expels aren't of the "calm, soothing" variety. They're aggressively noisy. I'm not even sure why that is, but I do know that this filter didn't last two days before I'd had enough and chucked it into the garbage.

I've since switched to the Hydro Sponge-style filter and it operates beautifully. And quietly.

Found an under gravel filter to fit my Betta bowls! The gravel layer is 1-1/2" and an airline with air valves modulates the air from a small pump, that services 3 Betta bowls. Weekly 20% water changes are still required. Fish are happy and healthy. The bowls have small water heaters, too.
