more powerful than powerheads that blow a jetstream
agitates water surface yet doesn't blow my sugar fine sized aragonite sand around (I hate getting sand dunes where eventually I'd see the glass/acrylic bottom of my tank).
magnet holder
medium length cord
low 4.5 watts
CONs:
Starts in reverse then I'd unplug it and plug it back in then it works.
kind of big compared to Ecotech Vortech MP10 and Aqueon powerheads
doesn't blow as powerful or as wide as my SEIO m820 powerhead
isn't as adjustable at right-angles like the SEIO m820
I bought 2. One is working great after 9 months. The other started buzzing from the motor after 3 weeks.
7/1/2013 update: the magnetic impeller cracked after 2 years but you can buy a replacement on Amazon or call up Hydor for a free replacement. I've dropped my rating from 4 stars to 3 due to reliability issue.

Wow. Ive had this for 2 days and come away super impressed. Casts a wide spread that works perfectly in my 55 gallon saltwater tank. A powerhead will seem puny compared to this if you're using it for water movement. At the same time, because of the wide spread, it's not overly powerful in any way. Build quality seems super sturdy and it's super quiet as well.Read Best Reviews of Hydor Koralia Evolution Aquarium Circulation Pump Here
I was not sure if this would work as a standalone unit but in my freshwater 70 gallon tank the fish have changed behavior over night. Great price, fast delivery and worked as stated.Want Hydor Koralia Evolution Aquarium Circulation Pump Discount?
I bought this to replace an old power sweep model that came with my used setup but tried to eat my sand sifting star (which I luckily saved from imminent doom). the combo magnet/suction is fantasitc, the ball joint is great, plus the head can be removed from the mount easily for quick cleaning. it moves water very will without the jet effect that other styles give, nicely dispersed flow.My only regret is that I wish I'd bought a 1050 instead of a 550 because I'm upgrading to a larger tank in a couple months.
