Power Filter
I have two of these filters one installed on a 10 gallon and the other on a 20 gallon tank.These work great with little maintenance needed on my part. Just clean the end of the pickup tube from time to time and change the filter cartridge when needed and you are all set. Changing the cartridges is very easy and not messy. Cleaning the pickup tube does require pulling the end off, rinsing it out and reinstalling. I have yet to have to remove the filter completely from the tank (after more than a year of use).
The cartridges last a reasonable amount of time as I am getting between 4 and 5 weeks of use out of them before they need replacing.
Overall, no complaints here works just like the Aqueon says it does!
Let us first make clear that any HOB filter will require a minor investment in filter cartridges. I have run this particular filter on a tank with gouramis, and currently on a tank with neon tetras and albino corys. How do I make my cartridges last so long? Well, I have one of these attached to the intake: Pre-Filter Sponge 3 Pack for Fluval Edge Aquarium This prevents too much debris from being sucked into the filter while increasing the biological filtration, the most important stage in filtration, as any good aquariust knows. These Fluval sponges fit perfectly and in no way inhibit the flow. They have saved me a lot of money on cartridges, and when they get dirty, I just rinse them in some aquarium water and put them back on. My flower shrimp also love to eat particles of food from the sponge!
As for being quiet, mine runs silently. I never hear this filter running. If you get one that makes a lot of noise, please see about getting a replacement as I have never had this problem, and as I said, this is a pre-owned filter.
As for being reliable, because of its design, this filter starts right up after a power outage or water change. No priming for this filter! This is the main reason that I would replace one of my other HOB filters with one of these. The Marineland filters require priming, the Tetra Whisper filters are meant to be self-priming, but can be somewhat unreliable. My Aqueon filter has always started up again after being turned off. This is great peace of mind, especially when I am away from home for a few days.
As for being effective, this filter holds its own against its competitors. True, it is not an Aquaclear, but it is just as good as any filter using a standard carbon cartridge. Its bio-filtration may not be the best, but this only becomes an issue when you have to replace the cartridge, and if you are using a sponge pre-filter as I recommend above, you should not have a problem with your tank cycling after a cartridge change.
Now, let me make a few points:
1. This particular filter should NOT be used for goldfish. This model is designed for ten gallons or less, and a ten gallon tank is not appropriate for a goldfish. Besides, goldies create so much waste that they require at least TWICE the recommended filtration. For example, on my 75 gallon goldfish tank, I run a canister recommended for 70 gallons, a HOB recommended for 70 gallons, and 2 Hydro Sponge filters recommended for 40 gallons each. Over-filtration? Maybe, but goldies don't mind the current, and it keeps my water clean. In addition, even the smallest goldfish will grow too large for a ten gallon tank, and if the fish itself doesn't grow, its organs will, and it will eventually die a painful death. I did once put a small common goldfish into a ten gallon hospital tank temporarily, but I did so with plenty of filtration. This Aqueon QuietFlow 10 is not enough for any kind of goldfish in any tank whatsoever.
2. This filter should NOT, in my opinion, be used for any Betta. It doesn't create a super-strong current, but it is still too strong for a fish who prefers still water. I have found that a Hydro Sponge filter powered by an air pump is all you need to filter a tank for one Betta. I have a male crowntail Betta in a ten gallon tank, and I do just this. I also have a female Betta in a five gallon tank, and I use a Whisper internal filter set on its lowest setting, and this seems to work as well. The Aqueon filter is NOT appropriate for a Betta.
3. If you overload your tank, you need more filtration, and you will have to change your cartridge more. Research and learn what kind and how many fish can go into a ten gallon tank, and don't exceed this amount. It's a bad idea for everyone involved, especially the fish.
In conclusion, this filter is economical, silent, reliable, and well-designed. It suffers only from a somewhat inferior system for bio-filtration which can easily be remedied by the addition of an inexpensive sponge pre-filter. This would be a great filter for beginners because of its simple design, and also a great choice for those of us with more experience who are on a budget or for whom it is impractical to run a canister filter.I got mine in a plant tank kit. The filter seems to do a great job. My water is crystal clear, and I've had mine running for 10+ months. I've had many generations of guppies. Also my tank was incredibly overpopulated and still, the filter did a fenomenal job. I love it. When I added the substrate, ActivFlora it took care of the silt/cloudiness in the water. The combination of healthy water and good filtration makes an entirely healthy system. I hardly do water changes or maintenance aside from changing the filter cartridge.

I have this filter on a 30 gal tank and will get another for my 10. It keeps the water very clear.This filter came as part of a kit along with a 36g bow front tank. My 36g is not heavily stocked. It has 1 modest-sized pleco (~6"), 1 adult angel and 3 juvenile angels. This filter is easy to assemble, easy to maintain and runs very quiet. It filters the water very well and the "Bio-holster" that holds the filter media seems to hold sufficient bacterial growth on its own to mitigate the loss of any bacteria from changing the filter media.The big problem I have with this product is that it takes almost no time before the filter media fills up enough to where the water starts running over the bypass divider and the skipping filter media entirely, at which point too much sediment gets by. Even with the modest bio-load my tank has, It will start bypassing as soon as only three or four days after changing the cartridge. In fact, when a brand new cartridge is put in, the water coming from the pump is right at the edge of overflowing the bypass, so you can imagine that it doesn't take much flow degradation through the media to cause the bypassing to start. It would be nice if the pump had a way to slow the speed and reduce flow, but there is no such adjustment for this product.
So, I gave it three stars because, yes, it filters quite well and runs quietly, but unless you plan on using this on a smaller tank (perhaps a 10g?), don't bother or you'll be spending a fortune on filter cartridges.

The power center wDay-Night Timer works just as detailed in the product description. It is easy to set-up. Since I got I don't need to worry about turning on and off my fish tank's pump, filter, thermostat and lighting. Actually I have programmed it to turn on and off the light and under gravel filter power head at intervals during the day and night (helping me to interrupt unwanted algae growth, giving some direct "light rest" to those species that like dim conditions and providing mild current to species that like it as well). I have plugged in the thermostat and my Whisper power filter in the constant power outlets so they work independently all day. My community fish tank inhabitants are happy and thriving. I used for day/night cycle on a 55 gal freshwater tank. The power strip was mounted underneath the cabinet, completely unexposed to anything that might cause it to malfunction. It looks as clean as the day i bought it. I even tried adjusting the trip tabs to no avail, just in case one of them was causing the problem. Nope.
I had initially disregarded the negative reviews on this one, chalking it up to a bad batch, but maybe there's a bigger defect going on here. I'm just lucky that I didn't use it for anything vital. If you give a crap about your tank critters, for the love of god, pass on this one.

The timer never goes off on the time I set it, its always like half an hour later or so. Whats even far more annoying is the fact that as time goes by, the lights go on later and later and later until finally I have to re-do the settings. I have no idea what causes this but it is damn annoying. Another really annoying thing is how hard to it is to set the timer tabs. Some of them are so stiff that I had to use tools to push them up or down in fear of my nail breaking off. Dont waste ur time with this product. I have used this product for three months. Every once in a while, the analog timer gets stuck and throws the timing schedule off. Since I use this on a saltwater tank, a little salt/dust got into the dial mechanism and now it sticks on certain hours. This is just what I needed for my balloon molly ~ but it did not come with instrucions. The suction cups are great ~ they allow me to close the aquarium lid completely as opposed to net breeders that hang off the side of the aquarium. Not really sure how to review air stones. They came complete and were not broken so that is a plus. The bubbles that these things emit are amazing like no other bubble out there. My 50gal tank was pretty boring until i added these under some of my sunken ships.
Aquarium Wood - Large
I read the only other review of this item about white fuzz growing on the wood, and thought, ehhh, how bad can it be? I soaked this wood for 3 days to get it to sink, still had to tie it to a rock. After 24 hours in my aquarium, I started to get the aforementioned white fuzz. It then grew into full on slime balls on the cut ends and a thick blanket of fuzzy goo all over the wood, especially in all indentions. I pulled it out, boiled it in a large pot for over 30 minutes. I thought, surely this will kill the white fuzz. As soon as i put it back in the aquarium, now it started to leach tannins...and the fuzz came back within 48 hours. So now I have yellow water and white fuzz. I gave up on this product and pulled it out of my tank. Now I have an algae bloom to treat. Finally, after 20+ days, this "hairy" ordeal is over, and so is my use for this product.

first off, there is a Freshwater version which includes 2 6500k bulbs vs the marine model that comes with the actinic the previous reviewer didn't sniff around!i have a FW planted tank, the coverage is good, the lights are bright (not sure of the quality) and easy to set up.
cons:
1. only 1 plug for both lights. not a big deal, but if you have an algae problem, sometimes lessening wattage can help but turning off bulb. there are switches though, so i guess that would work.
2. No fan switches. the fans are mildly loud brand new, and i guarantee you after a couple of months they will start howling.
3. end caps are NOT water proof, or even water-resistant for that matter. really strange to not include this feature. sure it comes with a replaceable acrylic cover, but to think its not in a humid environment is ignorant. no way would i put this on a marine tank.

There's not much to the stand at all. There are no compartments for you to put any supplies in. The stand feels cheaply made. However, putting it together took minutes and was easy despite lack of good intructions.
Overall, I am pleased at getting it for such a low price. I didn't want to spend alot on a stand because starting a new aquarium can be pricey and for me, the stand was low on the list of important things I needed. I would not recommend this stand for anything less than $30. You're better off buying a nice wooden stand for under $99 that you can actually put supplies and all in and would probably be a bit more sturdier.

It fits on our 125 gallon (technically 117gal. I think) tank. We needed it to keep the water from splashing up onto the lights. The only thing I wish it had was some kind of cushion under the edge or corners on the side with the handle. I am a little nervous the glass would break if the lid accidentally slipped and closed with force. What I did to ease my fear was put cushioned double sided tape (leaving the backing on one side) I had on the front corners. But of course they need to be replaced every so often when they get loose from getting wet.FYI Our tank is 72 1/2" from end to end. I wasn't sure these would fit before I bought them, but took the chance and it paid off.

i had purchased several aquarium kits that contain these filters. after looking for quite some time for replacement cartidges. i contacted the company and found that you can use the tetra whisper 3i replacement cartrideges for this filter
The only hiccup is that the filter cartridges for this model are not sold anywhere, but Tetra's small Bio-bag filter cartridges work just fine. Still, this hiccup doesn't affect my satisfaction of this little filter.

This is a very good filter, but it has a short life, at least for me. My second Mini Might Filter just crapped out on me. Don't know if it's something I'm doing, or it's just a bad product, because it is a good filter. I've had this one for a bit more than a month, and it's having the same problem as my last filter. It makes this awful Darth-Vader sucking noise. That's the best way to describe it. Still seems to filter, but that terrible noise! I've had this for a long time. It filters very well for a little one, and is so tiny, it hardly takes up any space. The odd sucking noise is not the filters fault, it happens with any filter that is exposed above air. The sides do not have suction, the clips do not hook to tank because the top of tank black rim around tank (not the top) is to wide for the clips. I have the tank decor holding it in place. I would have given a one star if I didn't like the plastic, the food doesn't get through and I do have to eithe invest in a better separator or another heater. This does prevent heat from circulating in my 50 gallon tank. I put the separator in the middle of the tank to determin this with thermoitors on both
This divider is very easy to set up for my 29 gal tank.
I am happy to find this tank divider. With the divider in the middle, these two different type of fishes are watching each other but they can't touch each other.
The transparent film has a lot of small holes and it is not very sturdy but it is okay for these 3" to 4" fishes. I guess I need to buy another tank when they grow to 6" to 8" long later (if they don't die on me.......).

This is a really good product for the price. I didn't have to cut it and it was really easy to insert. I just popped it right in and now my fry are separated from the other fish. The only problem I have with it is the ugly bright blue they used for the plastic sides and top/bottom pieces.
