Sloping Mountain With Cave Ornament

Sloping Mountain With Cave OrnamentQuick service, great addition to tank I will be on the lookout for additional items to compliment this one.

Ok seriously.... how much money for a freaking tank decoration...wow people. just wow. This is not anything special so why is the price more than a mortgage payment.

Pure Aquatic Rough Hollow Log Aquarium Ornament 5.5 in. x 3.5 in. x 2.5 in.

Pure Aquatic Rough Hollow Log Aquarium Ornament 5.5 in. x 3.5 in. x 2.5 in.This is a relatively nice looking log. Looks better in the picture, but the real thing isn't bad (not very realistic in color, but compensates in texture). I like the various entrances/exits and the spacious inside. My fish love this thing, and keep zipping in and out of it (mollies and cories). Its surface has a lot of sharp points though, which worries me a little. So far there haven't been any fish injuries, but just handling and washing the thing you have to be careful not to cut your fingers (especially at the edges of the holes). Also, the inside floor of it is completely bare flat plastic that looks very fake, especially compared to the textured outside of the log. That's easily correctable though just cover the bottom with gravel. This reduces the internal volume and the room fish have to move in there, but it does make it look nicer.

Looks very nice. I would recommend it for a 10 gallon tank or less. Its very small. My sharks love it.

Zoo Med Laboratories AZMBL20 Betta Hammock

Zoo Med Laboratories AZMBL20 Betta HammockI purchased this product at Petsmart the other day after reading all the comments. I know that the design should be working so I bought is for my aquarium. This product DOES work, and will stick on very tightly. The problem would be the method of setting this item up; you should hydrolyse it first in water then push it against the glass ABOVE the water, not in water, which means there will be a bubble in the middle of the suction cup. Then move it down under the water surface to the place you want. It will stick to the glass even tighter after a while and hard to be moved again.

The reason of these methods is due to the function of the suction cup. The suction cup is designed for using the atmospheric pressure to push the cup towards the glass tightly, since the atmospheric pressure will be greater than the air in the cup, so a small bubble is required in the middle. If you set this item in the water without any air in the middle, the section cup will lose its function because when you press it in the water, the internal water pressure will almost equals to external water pressure, due to the properties of liquid, which is harder to be depressurised.

I hope this will explain the reason some people thought this item wont work. Moreover, Betta fish does also rest on it :)

I bought this item almost as a joke, because seriously... a giant plastic leaf? My betta ignored it for three days and then flung himself on it. As I type, he's laying sprawled across it looking as deliriously happy as it's possible for a fish to look. Highly recommend.

Oh, and in reference to all the negative reviews stating that the leaf pops off -there must have been a redesign. My leaf stays put, and the suction cup seems to be working just fine as well (fingers crossed).

When I first put the leaf in my tank my Betta puffed his gills like he saw and intruder. After a few minutes he began to explore around it. It didn't take him very long at all to figure out what it's purpose was. The day after I bought it I looked at his tank and he liked it so much that he started to form his very first bubble nest right underneath it. I highly recommend the Betta Leaf Hammock. Other reviews say that the leaf fell out of the suction cup but I think they redesigned it because there isn't any way that the leaf can fall out of the one I received. Not only does my fish love it but I also got it 5 days before the expected delivery date.

so, i see many reviews of people saying that the leaf doesn't stay in the suction cup. my belief is that you're just not pushing it hard enough into the suction cup. it's not as easy as most people say it is or should be, i had to push it in very hard, but once you get the stem of the leaf into the hole of the suction cup, it appears to be just stuck in there. i doubt you would be able to take it out. i have it my 2.5 gallon tank for my betta, he loves it. he chills on it during the day when he's bored, and sleeps on it at night.

the only thing i do not like it about it, is that there is a metal wire in the leaf, and if you bend it (or maybe even if you don't) the wire sticks out. it will eventually rust, plus it could cut your fish, so i bought some aquarium sealant (non-toxic to fish, $6 at petsmart) and covered the wire with it. i waited about 3 days for it to dry, and i put it back in. so, now it's safe, and my betta loves it. (: i've also heard you can take the wire out, and it's fine like that too.

i bought this leaf at petsmart about 2 months ago, and only for about $2.30, so it's cheaper. i think it's worth it, if you have the time to fiddle with it, and if you assemble it right. i say give it a try. (:

ALSO, if you put it in your tank and your betta doesn't seem interested, try feeding them over it over the course of a few days. it helps them realize to use it, but if s/he still doesn't use it, then s/he's just not interested. it does depend on your betta's personality, but at less than $3 at petsmart, i say it's not that much of a waste if your betta doesn't use it.

I was shopping at petsmart, and saw this leaf; I thought my Betta, El Jefe would like it. after two days of investigation, he decided to try it out, and now loves it! whenever I enter my room, 80% of the time El Jefe is watching the rest of the world from his little hammock. I havn't had any issues with the suction cup, or leaf falling off, so I think that there must have been a re-design somewhere along the way. If El Jefe could talk, he would tell you to buy this leaf, cause he likes it!

SeaClear Bowfront Aquarium Combo

SeaClear Bowfront Aquarium ComboI purchased this combo directly through PetCo. The tank looks awesome set up and is very sturdy and easy to clean. The hood for it however is not well made and the light bulb slips out easily when light is picked up to feed or clean the tank. I have an Oscar that regularly hits the top of the tank and hood and knocks it so the light bulb itself slides out and goes off. The screws don't tighten enough to hold the bulb in and the bulb itself doesn't lock in place like most fluorescent tank bulbs. I ended up getting a separate light strip to use and that works well.

USB Desktop Aquarium - Mini Fish Tank with Running Water

USB Desktop Aquarium - Mini Fish Tank with Running WaterI have it on my desk at work, my fish seem to like their home, and my co-workers like it as well. The only feature(s) I do not use are the nature sounds. This is the same product over on another site, but for considerably less.

Fluval G6 Advanced Filtration System

Fluval G6 Advanced Filtration SystemI own a 75 gallon saltwater fish only aquarium (undulated trigger, clown, porcupine puffer, hippo tang, naso tang, 4 different damsels, 6 hermit crabs (the fish are all small except the 2 tangs). Currently running the Fluval G6, Seaclone skimmer and 36 watt Coral Twist UV. I had a large wet/dry system previously but found it to be too loud and mechanical filtration inadequate. The G6 is completely quiet and mechanical filtration is excellent. I also find the electronics to be very useful it keeps me on par with maintenance and monitoring of water parameters. The best is when it comes to cleaning the filter and changing the charcoal it is simple and not messy at all. It is plumbed into my UV and runs great. It is very expensive but does an excellent job and most important I have not lost any fish and they visibly are growing and with vibrant color and very actiive. Excellent product. Update: almost 2 years and still running great!

I own not one but two Fluvals G6. First one is for 55 gallons fresh water Ranchu Goldfish. This is upgrade from Fluval 305 that is working fine for many years. With the right EC (Electrical Conductivity) I can control the right amount of aquarium salt which is accurate and safe for my Ranch goldfish. It really convenience with LCD panel, It remind me when to clean my filters, monitor the flow, temperature, and EC.

Since I like it so much and decided to buy another Fluval G6 for my 120 gallons saltwater tank in addition to my wet and dry filter. This Fluval is so accurate in term of pin point the exact salinity for my healthy fish and coral. Now I can control salinities more accurately. This is important to me and my fish because it reduces the stress due to too high or too low on the salinities. The filtrations that come with the box are built for fresh water fish. For coral and saltwater fish I upgrade to Fine filter cartridge, and tri-Ex. Tri-Ex is the mechanical filter that combine three-in-one with included filter for phosphate, nitrate and carbon. I find this all in one filter is really useful, because it can eliminate the phosphate that slowly built up in my tank.

I purchased the G-6 several weeks ago to replace 2 Fluval 404's on a 50 gallon heavily stocked and planted fresh water aquarium. Before the filter arrived, I downloaded and printed both the Quick Start and Full Owner's Manual so as to familiarize myself with the filter. When the filter came we decided to set it up in front of the cabinet and allow it to come up to speed biologically before we started weaning off the 404's. The filter was within between the minimum 20 inches below the top of the tank, and not more that the maximum of 49.6 inches. My husband was up all night trying to get the filter not to leak. We had a pretty wet carpet. He "re-did" it all at least 20 times before giving up. I took over the next morning and focused on carefully re-fitting the red gasket until the leaking problem was solved. I could not get it to pump, however. I primed it until my fingers hurt and while it would start pumping at 100% flow rate, within seconds the flow rate declined to zero as it sucked in air. I checked all the fittings and finally called Fluval. The lady I spoke to was very pleasant and was convinced the problem lie in the fact that the hoses did not come straight down into the filter, but sloped down at about a 45 degree angle due to the fact we had it in front of the cabinet. Since there were no curls or kinks, I really did not understand how the gravity feed would be interrupted, but we cut them down and put the filter into the cabinet. The filter still sucked in air and we spent the rest of the evening twisting and tightening until finally my husband apparently gave it the magic twist and the flow rate jumped up to 100%. Since then it has been working fine. I am a bit leery about cleaning the pre-filter since the hoses will have to be detached so the filter can be brought forward and I am concerned that my husband's "magic fix" might come undone. That is why I will review this filter again in about 6 months. I initially give it 4 stars instead of 5 because of our problems. I didn't want to go fewer stars because Fluval was courteous and helpful and I am convinced had I called them back they would have worked to resolve our issues. Time will tell if our initial experience is a fluke, and if it isn't how far Fluval will go to make it right. Hopefully the next review will be 5 stars. I do love the compact size, although the filter is very heavy when filled; and I really like the idea of being able to bypass the system to clean the chemical and mechanical filters.

01/27/13 It's been over a year and the G6 is chugging along nicely. If I had it to do all over again I probably would stick to the Fluval 405's. While I love the ease of cartridge removal, I am just not happy with having only one chamber available for chemical media. I wind up doing a lot of media swapping which is tedious, and some of my favorite media will not work with the cartridge configuration. While the electronics are very cool and provide a lot of information, I do not believe it really does much for my simple 50 gal. freshwater fish/planted aquarium. I still use the H.O.T. Magnums on the tank for clarification. The Geek in me bought the G6. I really did not need it. I believe it is geared to more complex aquariums. When the G6 dies, I will replace it with 405's or 406's or whatever number they are up to by then.

I bought this filter for a 38 gal. aquarium, which seems like overkill, but it is strocked with about 100 guppies, plus bottom fish, which was too much to handle for the Marineland Emperor (also an excellent filter) filter I was previously using.

The features that I like the best of this Fluval G series is the ease of changing the filter cartridges, plus the ability to control (slow) the water filtering rate; it's necessary to slow it down for this 38 gallon aquarium. When the cartridge is new, I run at about 1/2 throttle, as it fills up and the flow tends to slow I can open it up and maintain a good water flow.

Yes it is expensive, but no use complaining about that since I knew the price before purchase.

Filter is quiet, and the display is very helpful. The aquarium has never been cleaner. I also bought the Tri-X cartridge to remove phosphates and Nitrates.

I've had all sorts of filters for different-sized freshwater tanks. The Fluval G6 has a few issues, yes, but it's the most convenient and easiest-to-clean filter I've ever used. My G6 has been running on a 50-gallon freshwater tank for 3 years and, despite the price, I'd buy it again without pause.

Positive notes:

* This is the best-manufactured hobby-grade filter I've ever used. The hoses are high-quality rubber and gromits are all silicone. The valve clamp and housing clamps all feel solid. Nothing has turned brittle, has cracked or has worn down. Every component is as good as the day I bought it.

* Cleaning is easy, and the display and timer are invaluable for reminding you how long it's been since you cleaned or replaced each stage. For mechanical, just pop it out, scrub with the included brush, and replace. For charcoal, pop it out, dump out the old, plop in the new, rinse, and replace. The ceramic nuggets take a little more effort -I pull the filter out of the stand and bring it to the sink, fill a bucket with tank water, take out the baskets, and repeatedly submerge and jiggle the baskets in the bucket of tank water to get all the grime off. Occasionally, with the mechanical, I'll go a step further and scrub the valves on top of the mech filter (remove rubber trim and plastic flaps). The intake wand sometimes gets clogged with stuff, but that's easy to pop on and off thanks to the high-quality gromits. I've even done a major cleaning once -removed all hoses and cleaned them and the housing innards with a hose brush, and it's easy to do.

* Cost wise, it's cheap once purchased. I've replaced the mechanical filter twice (1/yr), I used Marineland filter charcoal every two months or so, and I replace a basket-full of ceramic bits every six months. I've never replaced a part.

* The graphs are super-useful for coordinating timers & heaters. If only they'd add pH!

Issues:

* Conductivity is useless for freshwater. The graph is erratic and doesn't correlate with anything.

* It never goes back to 100% flow, only 80%, even after a major cleaning. It's disheartening but I'm over it. (Maybe they could just make the graph *say* it's at 100%, then I'd feel better :-)

* It's getting harder and harder to prime it once I finish cleaning. I figured out that it's best to re-fill the mech and charcoal filters with tank water after cleaning them (they're water-logged when you take them out initially). But the primer button is really hard to press and it takes a bit of muscle. It usually starts and complains ("CHECK IMPELLER"), so I prime it, let it sit, unplug it, plug it back in, and repeat 3 or 4 times until it works, and then it's back to normal.

* The charcoal filter is becoming impossible to pull out. I've checked all seals/gromits and it's fine, but now I use a pair of pliars to twist the red handle counterclockwise the last ten degrees, then it slides out without problem.

Final opinion: If paying $400 for an aquarium filter doesn't sound ludicrous to you, just buy it. It's like buying a fully-loaded, brand-new Lexus after you've driven used '94 Honda Civics you're entire life.

UPDATE: After 3.5 years, something finally happened -one of the grommets around the intake stem snapped. Replacement assembly ordered from Amazon Prime for $20. Not great, but at least the replacement will be on my doorstep in a few days! (A few rubber bands will seal it until then.)

Quiet One Lifegard Aquarium Pump, 1400-Gallon Per Hour

Quiet One Lifegard Aquarium Pump, 1400-Gallon Per HourAfter reading many negative reviews about the Quiet One pumps on some aquarium forums, I decided to still go ahead and give this pump a try. I owned a couple of the older models of the Quiet One pumps and they were a bit more noisy, also had restart problems, but they lasted a long time. The new Quiet One 5000 has improved significantly. The pump is solid and does not feel cheap. It restarts without any problem and is EXTREMELY quiet. It does not come with rubber suction cups to dampen the vibration like most other submersible pumps, but it does include a rubber like adhesive pad you can put on the bottom. I also placed a piece of filter foam underneath it to absorb any residual vibration. This pump delivers plenty of power and flow from my 45 gallon sump return to my 120 gallon aquarium. In fact, even with a couple of 90 degree elbows, and "T", along with a 5' head, this pump needs to be dialed back with a ball valve. My overflow is capable of 1000 gph so I know this pump is not losing much flow.

The name Quiet One does not really refer to its operation as it is everything but.. It does raise the temp of the water, for the price I would expect more!! Look at your other choices...

Incandescent Recessed Full Aquarium Hood, 24" Black

Incandescent Recessed Full Aquarium Hood, 24' BlackIt fits perfectly on my tank. Note the dimensions carefully. The light fixture is easily replaced and has a glass cover protecting it from water splashes. The backs are easily broken off for power filters.

This is a good product , its pretty simple to take the backs off for filters and the light recess comes off with a snap for easy bulb changes. My only beef is that it didnt come with bulbs (often the most expensive pary of a hood ) Oh well they were pretty cheep , id def buy again for a freshwater tank.

review for AAPA45L Commercial Air Pump 6 Outlets, 45 Lt Per Minute.

The first thing I noticed is that it is smaller that I was especting, good! Later I started measuring air output and obtained 4 points, with all closed outputs I obtained a maximum pressure of 115 mmHg, at 9 liters per minute I measured 70 mmHg, with 12.2 liters per minute I found 60 mmHg and as last point at 14.8 liters per minute I had 50 mmHg, once I put these 4 points in a chart I get a nice straight line that intercepts 26 liters per minute at zero pressure, so of 45 liters per minute announced I only get a measured 26.

I put it to work and replaced 6 small pumps, with about 16 outputs (filters without stone) that left me with 55 mmHg working pressure and 13.5 liters per minute as my chart indicates.

I hope that it would last more than a year, I did not find this pump very noisy but it is noisier than any of the small air pumps it replaced.

As rule of thumb I found that liters of air per minute that can obtain by any air pump it is more or less half of announced in specifications.

As reference 100 mmHg are about 53 1/2 inches of water.

After going through so many pumps for my tank, I saw this at amazon at a good price and decided to try it. The item is a GREAT pump, solid, heavy, complete. Rubber feet, connectors, everything you need. The only problem I have is my tank is in my living room and the noise from this pump is just too much for me. I am looking into running it behind a small wall, running the tube through, but haven't tried that yet. Oh, and this is a LOT of air. I just have two long stones under the gravel and this is way much air. You probably have to use three or 4 of the outlets (at least) to reduce the air flow rate to something usable.

This unit seems to put out a lot of air. I am using to push 4 air stones that are submerged 4 feed in my fish tank and it is producing a lot of bubbles. It is not rated for outdoor use so I built a small wooden box to keep it out of the elements and so far I have not had any problems. I only have 4 hoses connected to it so it was nice when I found out that each of the 6 outputs has its own valve that you can adjust so I just shut off the two outlets that I am not using.

Lee's The Ultimate Faucet Adapter, Metal

Lee's The Ultimate Faucet Adapter, MetalThe plastic faucet adapter that comes with Python started to be stripped after the first usage! As a result there would be leaks at the faucet when it was used and I had to wrap a rag around it to absorb the water. I have had this metal adapter now for a month. No leaks.

This works very well-no leaks at all. My kitchen faucet was too shallow to properly screw this in (could only turn the device in two or three times to the faucet spigot, so it would not hold tight), but it works just fine with my bathroom sink faucet, and I can now water the plants on my condo terrace. The plastic thread wears down really quickly, so I decided to get this one instead and it is much better in terms of how well it fits on, and the life of it as well.

Fair warning, I sliced my finger open trying to get it off of the tap, so be careful as thin threading is quite sharp! If it is tightened too much, best way to get it off is with pliers (won't damage it) or with a damp cloth
