Como Aquarium Garden Pond Floating Lotus Decoration

Como Aquarium Garden Pond Floating Lotus DecorationI hang java moss from these to give my fish a place to hide. They would also be good for betta bubble nests (though bubble wrap is probably better if you don't care about looks). They look really pretty and well-made for the price.

Marina C10 Compact Heater

Marina C10 Compact Heater, 10-WattI have used this heater in 2 tanks now, 1 1.6 gallon and now its in a 2 gallon rimless shrimp tank. Keeps the water 72-78 without fail. No you can't adjust the temperature, but for 98% of freshwater fish it is the correct temp anyway. The light only comes on when its heating. No light, no Heating. It does NOT mean that its broken if the light doesn't come on. Check your tank temperature before complaining about it. I can almost guarantee you that your tank is in that sweet spot it should be.

I would definitely buy another without hesitation.

I bought the Marina C25 compact heater about 2 weeks ago. I was worried about purchasing this because of the bad reviews, but I decided to go for it because it was on sale at my local fish store. This heater looks EXACTLY like the Fluval Compact Heater 25watt. The heater is thin, and not at all bulky like it is made to appear in the photo. This heats my Fluval Edge 6 Gallon perfectly! The temperature is a constant 76-78 degrees. I had to remove my thermometer just to make sure it was working (it was) because I never saw fluctuations in temperature.

The directions do say that you should submerge the heater into the tank and leave in there (unplugged) for about 10 min. I left it in for an hour before plugging it in. I was worried about fully submersing the entire thing into the water (even the part where the cord comes into the heater), but IT IS OK to do that. I had to research it on a different site to make sure I wasn't going to get electrocuted. The heater needs to be underwater at all times. This heater is awesome, and I definitely recommend this product.

I finally moved our betta fish to a Fluval Spec Aquarium, which has a super filtration system for a 2-gallon pico and nice LED lights. Quite an upgrade from a Mason jar! I then bought this compact heater which fits very nicely in the same compartment as the pump in the Spec. It warmed up the water to a perfect 78 deg. F. and my betta is swimming more actively and looks much happier. He was probably too cold in the jar. I have no complaints about this heater--it's very compact and does the job it's supposed to. Since this is only 10 watts I wouldn't use for anything larger than the Spec tank. On our Fluval Chi tank we have a Fluval 25 watt heater, which is working very well.

This heater stablized the 2 gallon tank quickly and maintains at 77-78. Does not overheat even a very small tank.

Penn-Plax® Aquarium Plant Anchors, 12pk

Penn-Plax® Aquarium Plant Anchors, 12pkThese lead plant anchors do work. Our aquarium has large, natural colored river pebbles, so we can't really get the roots covered adequately enough to weight the plants down with them. We have freshwater anacharis plants. We were using plastic tie wraps to hold the anacharis strands together, and then stuck the bunch into the pebbles, but some strands would break off and leave a gap in the bunch. This would allow the rest of the bunch to float up and out of the tie wrap. Now they just do the same thing with the lead wrap weights, but I notice that at least it does take longer for the bunch to break loose and float to the top in loose strands. I think this is because you can wrap the lead ties a little tighter and cover a little more of the strand base by spiraling the tie up as you wrap. Oh well, it's better than the plastic tie wrap method. I gave one star off because they don't completely hold the bunch down forever, but I haven't found what will yet.

These lead strips are the same as the ones that come with many of the live aquatic plants I've purchased from my local fish store. They wrap easily around the stems of hard to contain plants, and help to keep them from floating all over my fish tank.

I've used them quite a few times to group a bunch of cuttings together after pruning some of my fast growing plants (particularly 'rotala', which roots very quickly), and then have brand new plants to help fill up my freshwater tropical aquarium.

I have a 3/3.5 gallon aquarium for my two little African Dwarf Frogs. They love plants to hide in, but the plants kept coming up when I was changing the water (they are growing so I'm doing frequent water change to get rid of some of the crap.) These frogs are very timid and freakout when I change their water or put my hand in there. So I wanted to give them back there beloved hiding spots while at the same time causing them the least amount of stress.

If I tied together a few of the small viney plants with a few of the weights (which are just strips of lead and kind of remind me of ties you use for bread), they would hold down. Even when I sucked water away with my siphon or put water down. The frogs are oblivious to the ties. However, I had a hard time use these for single tiny plants. They tend to make the plant shorter when you are putting it on....lost one plant that way. So far only plant single plant has come back up. I guess it is helping with the problem, but not sure how it will do long term.

These do what they are supposed to... but it takes a lot of them to hold down some of my plants. I had to use 6 for a larger plant in my aquarium.

Exo Terra Repti-Glo 2.0 Compact Fluorescent Full Spectrum Terrarium Lamp

Exo Terra Repti-Glo 2.0 Compact Fluorescent Full Spectrum Terrarium Lamp, 26-WattThis bulb is great for planted tanks with reptiles/amphibians that require low amounts of UVB. I have a planted, 70 gallon tall tank that houses 3 female Red Eye Treefrogs. The light does wonders for the plants I have in there and the frogs have been doing well with the light it gives off. My only concern is that since it's a planted tank with frogs my tank has a decent amount of humidity in it (around 60-70%). I can only assume that the humidity may be causing the bulb to go out quicker or my past two bulbs were bad? Anyway, I'm giving it another shot to see if the bulb will last longer and if it does then I'll keep getting them, but if not, then I'll try something different. Overall, the bulb does what it's supposed to, but I would be careful using it with tanks with high humidity.

*More info. about the bulb since I bought it*

The bulb just went out on me after about 5 1/2 months. I can't really say that it lasted much longer than the last two. For the amount of money spent on this bulb, and the other two, it would have been cheaper to get another fluorescent single bulb hood and a ZooMed 2.0 bulb and the bulb would have lasted longer than the 3 bulbs together. I will give this bulb 2 stars rather than the "generous" 3 stars on my original review.

I purchased this to help out my new tree frogs. They're both juvenile, so the lower UV rating works out great. If you have herps that need light, this is the one to get if you aren't sure what strength to get.

I purchased this product for my Mississippi Map turtles. This bulb works great but should not be used as the only source of UVB/UVA lighting. This bulb is intended to be used to produce more visual light. Even though it does product some UVB/UVA waves it should be and is designed to be used with the Repti-Glo 5.0 (Tropical) or 10.0 (Desert)to get the maximum and proper exposure to UVB/UVA waves.

As stated the product lasts about 7 months to a year. It all depends on the light cycle you are using. 10 hours a day or less should last about a year. 12+ hours a day I would change every 6-8 months. I have personally pushed it a little bit and have gone over a year with one of these bulbs and it was still putting out a little bit of UVB (this is not recommended). Remember just because the bulb is putting out visual light does not mean that it is putting out the proper waves of UVB/UVA.

My personal setup includes a total of four Repti-Glo compact bulbs. Two of them are the Repti-Glo 2.0 and two are the Repti-Glo 5.0. The 2.0 is a bright white light while the 5.0 puts out a yellow/white tint and I would recommend getting a combination of both. That way you can light up the tank for viewing and get the proper UVB/UVA Waves.

I have never had any issues with these bulbs and recommend them to anyone with reptiles.

Pay attention to the charts with lumens/luminous flux in the description. The 2.0 blub is over 1400 lumens. That's brighter than a 100 Watt Reveal bulb. I mistakenly just thought the 26-Watt bulb would be fine...

It's crazy bright for my little viv. I'm going to try the 13-Watt bulb and see if it's a little less harsh. I'll update whether or not it's more suitable.

Update: The 13-Watt is still bright, but not to the degree of the 26-Watt. (i.e. There are still shadows and I'm able to look directly into the viv.) I'm going to stick with it and see how Frogette reacts. She appeared to immediately start sunning, so I'm thinking it's good.

AQUATEK ChillMaster Aquarium Cooling Fan 4 Fan Model (AQT-F04)

AQUATEK ChillMaster Aquarium Cooling Fan 4 Fan ModelMy 160 gallon tank was reaching 82 degrees at night and I couldnt get it down. Since ive added this my tank has dropped down to 79 degrees and allows my heater to maintain a stabile temp. The water evaporates fast due to the increase, but as long as you stay on top of the sump level it works flawlessly.

I was having a problem with heat in my 34 gallon reef tank. I was surprised at how well these fans worked . I put them on a controller that would automatically go on if the temperature rises above 80°. Let's just say I have no more issues with heat. These fans are small, economical ,and very quiet. This is the best purchase I've ever made.

For my 20 gallon tank, operating only about 7 hours a day, it works great.

dropping about 3-4 degrees celsius, which is perfect for protecting my crystal reds

during summer.

This product is neatly designed and it seems durable.

However, like the picture suggests, you are going to have lots of trouble placing it

unless your tank edge have nothing on, because the bracket won't fit anything.

Almost all fish tank that are on American market have black plastic covering the top edge.

I was lucky that I had a light fixture that was perfect for the cooling fan to lean on.

The main problem is that this cooling fan makes loud noise.

If you are used to make your own aquarium fan with computer cooling fan,

You will be shocked by its noise.

It sounds as if you have a huge air conditioner operating near you.

If your aquarium is very close to your workplace or bedroom, it is most likely that the noise will bother you.

P.S The package says do not operate the cooler more than 8 hours a day.

If you want a low cost chiller, then this will do the trick. I have a 15 gallon

tank, that is around 19C, and with this thing on, it goes down to 16C, I believe it

could even go lower because I only left it on for an hour.

Yes, it's like having a chiller, but without having to burn your pocket!

Aquatic Fundamentals 72 Gallon Bowfront Aquarium StandLike I said earlier, my sump fits underneath of this, but I did have to build around it. It would not go in after it's built, and I am fine with that for now.

SeaClear Rectangular Aquarium Combo (Black)

SeaClear Rectangular Aquarium ComboAll I can say is that I had a hard time deciding if this aquarium would work for me or not. I ended up getting it and it

is great. It has cut outs for a filter, a heater, and an opening to feed your fish. The opening has a clear cover which

you can lift off or slide either way and I put a light on top of it. I got a 2436" LED one (recommend) and it fits perfect.

The light that it comes with isn't a very good one but the acrylic is far superior to any glass aquarium you can buy. I

would definitely recommend this tank and am glad I got it.

JBJ Automatic Top Off Water Level Controller for Aquarium

JBJ Automatic Top Off Water Level Controller for AquariumA simple way to automate the replacement of evaporated water in the reef aquarium. Using the two level sensors, it monitors the levels in the sump and top-off water container. This made it possible for me to leave on vacation and have a complete novice manage the maintenance of my reef.

One of the sensors in this product did not work right out of the box. Because there are two sensors we used the one sensor set up but risked the pump going dry until the replacement sensor arrived. Reviews on the product page were all excellent. After I had the problem I Googled and found less than stellar reviews and found that this is a common problem. Some people had hardwood floors ruined due to the sensor not shutting off.

I bought this because I was planning on going on vacation in few months and I needed something to auto-top off my tank while I'm gone. I did a few reviews on this and it works great, I'm happy I purchased it for my aquarium. When the water level drops the sensor kicks on and turns the pump on to fill the tank of lost water

Best product out there for the price. Simple, not a lot to program two options that it). Not too crazy about the way that you set up the floaters but with some tweaking you can secure better with suction cups or even zip tie, but then again I am paranoid and I have never heard of anyone having serious issues with the floaters, oh yeah floaters are the devices that measure the eater level.....forward 1 year, found out that device is not as water proof as it should be.

Tetra Glofish Kit 10 Gallon

Tetra Glofish Kit 10 GallonAlthough everything that came with the tank was in excellent working condition, the tank itself was completely shattered upon arrival. I understand that accidents happen, and was no more than slightly disappointed with the quality of the tank, until I called the tank customer service(not through amazon itself, it was a third party sender, and amazons custom service was as helpful as I could have hoped for) and the third party sender claimed that they no longer offered this product and could not send me a replacement. They did though, refund my purchase in full, so I guess that's as much as I could ask for. It was just a bit of a bummer being that this tank was a gift for some one else.

The filter works, the led lights works and is very bright. A lot of people have been complaining about the canopy saying that it doesn't fit and their isn't space for the light and filter. This is because you cut the the plastic piece that you have attached to the the glass part of the canopy.

Once you cut some holes out of the plastic part for the filter and lights, the canopy will fit perfectly. On the box with the canopy it says something along the lines of "cut to fit". It would help if it said a little more than that.

But it took more time than it should for me to get mine. First I ordered one from petsmart.com (after I went to 5+stores in search of a Glofish 10 gallon kit) it came a short time after that but It was shattered (you could tell it was before even opening the box), we sent it back with the ups guy. He also told us it was best not to ship things that.

We went to a petsmart (i was gonna buy everything separate) but surprisingly they had the kit that I wanted so I bought it. I got home, set everything up, and then found the canopy was broken. We returned the canopy and got another one free of charge.

Aquarium Pharmaceuticals® 5 in 1 Aquarium Test Strips

Aquarium Pharmaceuticals® 5 in 1 Aquarium Test StripsThis is a great product for a quick glimpse into the water quality of your aquarium. This product will give you a quick reading for pH, nitrite, nitrate, general and carbonate hardness. The following is what I don't like about it: 1) fairly expensive in local stores 2) no ammonia test 3) do not feel is reliable or very accurate 4) don't like the idea of dipping directly into aquarium, which can release small amounts of whatever chemicals are impregnated on the pads. You can take a sample of your aquarium water in a different vessel to swirl the strip in but you chance altering the reading from a contaminated container (mostly pH and hardness readings can be affected). I use this product on occasion when I know I haven't paid as much attention to my water quality as I should be. If I see something I don't like or trust with the 5 in 1 strip I'll break out the regular liquid test kit to verify. I still recommend using API's standard liquid test kits for more reliable/accurate readings.

Update: I find it better to use these strips by using a small pipette/eye dropper to place a small drop of water from the tank onto each square. The water will soak in and stop the indicator colors from swirling/bleeding, which makes them difficult to read. This way you can do each test individually too because the hardness can be read immediately while the pH, nitrite and nitrate have to be read after 30 seconds.

I bought the API 5 in 1 test strips at the LFS because they didn't have the Jungle Labs version, which I had used previously. Being new to fish keeping, I thought a strip is a strip right? That's not the case. I really don't care for the "dip and swirl" method of the API strips. The pH pad always runs, which then alters the colors of the pads on either side. I've tried swirling gently but the same thing always happens.

I do use the API Master test kit once a week and absolutely love it and highly recommend it. But for daily checks during tank cycling I'm going back to the Jungle Labs 6-in-1.

Top Fin&reg Aqua Scene 1 Gallon Desktop Aquarium Starter Kit

Top Fin&reg Aqua Scene 1 Gallon Desktop Aquarium Starter KitHave enjoyed this tank for several months. Originally used for 6 roudy fathead rosy minnows that were too energetic for my fancy guppies and tetras. Later tried this for 3 dwarf frogs alone. For the last few months have been using is as my nursery for newborn mollies and platys that I brought in from my outdoor patio pond. My routine is every 10-14 days to completely replace with aged water treated with a few drops of prime and some kosher salt. I've found the salt helps keep disease at bay in all my tanks. I do keep two small terra cotta pots with live plants in there. Even the plants thrive with regular growth that I need to trim back every few weeks. Since converting this to my nursery, I've found that I could keep dozens of babies (30-40 at at time) healthy and routinely put the faster growers back in my pond. I've had to replace the 7 watt bulb once in nearly a year (standard nightlight is all you need). Feeding is easier and less messy if I crumble the flakes in a folded business card and use it as a chute to drop the food in through the opening. This helps prevent flakes from sticking to the side of the opening when dropping in directly. Wish all my tanks were this easy to maintain. Couple of images uploaded. The ones with all the babies.
