Compared to PetsMart this should save you a few dollars. Also, don't be so quick to throw these guys away with the Eclipse tanks. We've noticed that the tanks filtration system has a pretty solid vacuum, so you'll notice that these cartridges will get dirty after about 4-5 days. Don't worry, because it's just the top layer. Pull the cartridge out and scrub the surface with a new toothbrush from your dentist. You know? The cheap ones they give you after you've paid for a teeth cleaning. This should get you a few extra days.

This heater cost me several thousand dollars in saltwater fish. I bought it for my 175 gallon tank. it reset itself at 88 degrees. I was out of town for the night and when I returned emagine my suprprise when the temp was so high and many fish dying on bottom of tank due to stress in temp change. I reset it to 79 degrees wondering what could of caused it to reset at 88. several days later it did the same thing Thank heavens I was home and caught it in time to save my remaining fish. I purchased this aquarium heater on October 13, 2012. As soon as I got it, I put it in my 150 gallon tank. It worked great until 2 days ago (December 19, 2012). It comes on long enough to tell me my tank is 10 degrees colder than it's supposed to be...then it just goes back off. 3 months isn't long enough for this thing to work. I'm disappointed and won't buy another one of this brand. I wouldn't recommend you do either!
I bought three of these heaters different watts, now the 300w went into my 40, it ran the correct temp right outta the box. No messing with it at all, and has stayed constant for a week now. The 200 did the same, but I am having problems with one of the 100w. Will have to calibrate it when it settles down. but over all I am very happy with these heaters!

Contrary to other reviews, this is a fully submersible heater. It worked great and kept my temps +/1 degree constantly in a 90g reef tank. One day I come home and the water is at 86 degrees. I bought it few weeks ago. had to calibrate it and then it works flawlessly. I highly recommend this fully submersible heater. Temperature stays within 1+/degree. It switches on off as per the need to maintain a constant temperature.
I have no real experience to draw upon, but my wife gave me this and a pair of Bettas as a gift. I am a writer and having this on my work desk is great! I will update if I find any trouble with keeping it clean, but so far, it has been a pleasure. I have no trouble with the divider if I simply open the feeding hatch and place my finger on the divider when I remove the lid.

Just because a Betta can survive in small conditions because in their natural environment during the drought season doesn't mean that we should keep them in those conditions. Many Bettas don't survive these rough conditions that nature provides in their home territory. This tank is far too small for a fish. Bettas need more space, a gallon at the bare minimum to survive. Putting 1 fish in this tank is cruel, let alone 2. Small aquariums are subject to drastic temperature changes and are not as stable as larger ones. Bettas will be miserable in a tank this small. Please get educated about bettas before buying one. I kept my first betta, out of ignorance, in a small cube and it lived for 8 months, amazingly. There is plenty of info available online. They are not just live ornaments meant to sit in miserably confined jail cells, but living creatures that need warm and clean water, plant cover (live plants are needed for health and tank conditions), and space to live. My current betta lives in a 2 gallon tank with a small heater, and filter (which I run about half the time). He is happy, active, and curious. Bettas do not need air pumps since they get oxygen at the water surface. The only worthwhile use for this "aquarium" would be to hold your betta temporarily while you clean his larger tank, or transport him for some reason. Just because the tank is "compact and fits my desk well", does not mean it is a good idea. I usually never write reviews but based on how much this impressed me when I first turned it on and the fact that there are almost no reviews for this light anywhere on the net, I decided to write one. I have a 10 gallon reef tank and until now, never had good lighting for it. So, I have been researching a lot the past couple of months on different lighting because I am starting to add more and more corals to my setup. Man is this light bright and very beautiful. I've got this for my sump setup because I got a condy anemone. Within a month or two with proper feeding it has regained a nice brownish color from a meek off white... and is very active. At first I wasn't for sure how much it would help but I'm running this with a ecobright 5700k compact flourecent bulb to help the algae grow nicely. People are amazed at how nice my sump looks. Very good light for the money. If you have been looking for a LED light that wont break the bank, give this a try. The actinic really makes the colors pop and my Coral Beauty looks awesome in the light. Hopefully this lasts as advertised. I ended up putting this on a 36" wide tank since i have a hood and would not fit with the 36inch size due to the way it mounts. I was able to create a custom hanging mount easily. The key is the light goes edge to edge with no issues.
I was so excited to buy this tank and raise jellyfish with my special education class. The tank itself is cute, but the 3 semi-dead jellies that arrived 8 hours later than promised, in a box labeled "perishable", but with NO indication that there were living things inside, was heartbreaking. The living rock was a joke, the substrate MUCH too big, and tank levels were IMPOSSIBLE to stabilize regardless of how many water changes. This was the biggest waste of money I've ever spent! I only gave it 1 star because it would't allow me to post with none checked.

We are former JFA customers. We made three attempts at keeping jellies. They all shrunk and JFA consistently gave two answers when we contacted them do a 20% water change and feed more. The third, and final time we had JFA jellies they shrunk again. Only when I became utterly exasperated with their 'water change/feed more' answer did they suggest regularly adding a few drops of Phytofeast and/or live food. Now I think they're telling customers all the time to feed live food had they simply acknowledged this at the onset (instead of pushing their frozen food and reassuring customers this was the only food required) I would never have purchased jellies since I wasn't interested in starting a brine shrimp hatchery in my house. Nevertheless, because I already had them and they were dying/shrinking with JFA frozen food I had to start hatching brine shrimp. Finally, with live food one jelly grew large and normal looking. But, this was only after it had mated with another jelly which resulted in orange polyps covering every surface of the tank. (I asked about the possibility of mating before I bought them and was assured this couldn't happen. Also, polyps reproduce independently, so when these show up there's no way of getting rid of them unless the tank is completely broken down, cleaned out, and re-started.) At this point, we overlooked the orange mess because we were happy that after all our effort at least one was surviving. According to JFA it's ok to leave jellies alone for a weekend, if needed. We did that and came home to find this beautiful jelly in shreds from the bubble tube. I was full heartedly going to buy this product and then I went on yelp and read the horrifying reviews and what they are saying is totally true... Great looking plastic decoration. Many people have commented that it looks real. Easy to clean with a small toothbrush. The only thing I don't like is that the stump-like base of it was not flat so it's hard to stand up in sand (I have mine standing like a tree and have moss growing on the branches).
Update after using for 18 months: This product works well at first then can develop pin-hole leaks in random places. It's easy to work with due to its high flexibility but difficult to seal with clamps due to the spiral reinforcement. That said, with enough fiddling you can cure the clamping problem but no amount of tweaking can stop the leaks from developing. I kept cutting out leaking parts but now I'll replace with vinyl tubing. I gave this product 5 stars 18 months ago and it's fine if you don't mind the constant maintenance. This is the exact same brand-name product you can buy in a store--same quality but about half the price at good old Amazon.

So I was surprised with the quick delivery to my house, but pretty much everything failed. I opened it and pinched the hose to see how tough the plastic was, it wasn't tough at all, and 2 minutes later when I try to use the thing to clean my tank I get a leak in the hose right where I had pinched it. The pump, well, it works, if you hold it so the open end is up when you squeeze, the plastic piece that allows suction to be possible is extremely cheap and I wouldn't expect it to last long. Also there is nothing written in english on the directions. This thing could be usable if you don't plan on messing with the actual hose, but its such cheap plastic don't be surprised if it gets a leak, a slight pinch of the hose was enough to make the plastic crease. I was really trying to show the previous reviewers up by making this thing work flawlessly, needless to say that didn't happen. Not worth 5 bucks folks.

These things are pretty cheap, so it's not shocking that the first time I tried to pull one out of the tube that it broke/shattered. Ended up cutting the tube and putting in a new one. Work well, but can break apart due to the tubing tightness.
