Aqua Ultraviolet AAV00029 UV Sterilizer Wiper for Aquarium, 25-watt, Black
Marina Power Filter
The fish in my 10 gallon tank did not appreciate the heavy current created by my old Tetra Whisper filter. Sure, the Whisper did an excellent job filtering waste, but it also stressed out the fish. This filter does as good a job filtering waste and eliminating ammonia, and doesn't stress the fish!
I'm giving this filter 5 stars because it is best-in-class for 10-gallon tanks. No other filters provide as sleek a look; no other filters come with a built-in flow regulator (that I can find....), and no other filters have as peaceful a current for my fish, frog, and shrimp.I've had this filter 4 months, and really like it. My tank is viewable from both sides, so the streamlined shape is great hanging on the end. The width (7 in) might not be so great if you are hanging it on the back without a background.
The filter is silent. Not quiet, silent. I have to check for ripples to know if it's on. It comes with an intake sponge, so you don't have to buy one if you have shrimp or fry. The size of the motor and intake (with sponge) inside the tank is about equal to a PennPlax SmallWorld filter I had for a while. I don't think it takes up too much tank space.
It's like a cross between an external HOB and an internal filter. The motor is on the intake and the media is outside. The motor is submerged, so does not have to be primed each time you unplug it. The downside is that it's an electrical motor with wire going into the water, so you should unplug it before you stick your hand in the tank, when you clean etc. The submerged motor means the hang-on-back part is all one piece of plastic, no washers or connections to leak.
Media being on the outside of the tank is easy to replace. I don't use the inserts because I don't want to have carbon in the filter all the time. AquaClear 20 media bags fit easily in the sections. I've used BioMax and carbon, and now have 2 BioMax bags in one section and a cut to size filter pad in the other. Purigen 100 mL fits (barely) but slows the flow.
I believe it's a 55gph filter, which is plenty for my 5.5 gallon. I like that the flow is adjustable. It does not have a lot of surface agitation -I get some protein scum even with it on full. Still, I think it's a great filter and the flexiblity appeals to me. I'd buy it again gladly.

I purchased this little filter for my betta's soil-based naturally planted 5 gallon tank. The tank is in my bedroom so I was looking for a filter that was quiet, small, slim and had an adjustable output and intake so I wouldn't have to baffle it for his fins, and affordable, as I am a student. I scoured the internet looking for something to put in the tank that met those requirements for less than $20. I stumbled upon this little beauty and thought "what the heck? There aren't any real reviews, but if it sucks, I can send it back and MAKE a real review." I was NOT disappointed.Setup was very easy and the instructions were very clear. My only complaint is that the little "circle thing" that you attached to the base on the outside to keep the filter level often falls out of mine, or did, until a little hot glue solved that problem. The outer, hang over back potrion of the filter measures 18cm long by 5cm deep by 15cm tall; which fits perfectly between my tank and the wall. The intake tube is also adjustable in height, so it can fit in varying depths of tanks.
The filter's powerhead is underwater and so is silent. I was a little skeptical of this,so I did a thorough inspection for any defects that could kill my precious betta or his red cherry shrimp. One month in, and no body's been electrocuted yet. The filter came with a prefilter sponge so I didn't have to add one to protect my betta's fins or my RCS's livelihoods. The output low is also adjustable from super low to very high (in a small tank like mine, it might even be enough for a goldfish or two). Because the output is adjustable, I set it to low (pushed the knob/level aaaaall the way to the right) and my betta has no trouble with the flow (he built a bubble nest under the output thing), even when the water level gets a little low.
The filter itself is super quiet; my laptop is louder than it and the only time I hear it is late at night when the whole house is turned off. Occasionally if I've been mucking about in the tank (trimming plants, changing water) and the hood isn't on straight or the filter gets bumped and is touching my bedroom wall, I can hear an irritating buzzing sound generated by the vibrations causing the plastic case of the filter to bump and buzz against the wall. This is easily fixed by either jiggling the hood until it is properly settled back onto the tank or moving the filter slightly so that it doesn't touch the wall anymore.
As mentioned above, it has a fairly small or narrow external footprint, the internal footprint is also quite reasonable, unlike most internal power filters (like the Tetra Whisper 3i and 5-10i that I tried before this). For refill cartridges, I don't know if Marina sells any, but the small Tetra BioBags fit perfectly, and there are 3 spots available for cartridges, or you can just put in one or two (I have one and some sponge for a biofilter).
All in all, a great filter and a great investment. Keeps my water crystal clear, doesn't but my aquarium's inhabitants and doesn't bug me. I LOVE it and would recommend it over and over again! Best $15 I spent on my aquarium (besides the fish & shrimp!)

I bought this to replace my Tetra Whisper, which was beginning to whisper rather loudly. Assembly was a little complicated, but maybe I wouldn't have thought so if I hadn't felt hurried because my Tetra had crapped out soon after the Marina S10 arrived.I'm very happy with this, and my only complaint is one I read elsewhere, that the plastic lid rattles and makes a buzzing noise. I simply removed don't use the lid, and the only noise I hear is the gentle flow of the filtered water back into the tank. It does seem to aerate the water much more than the Tetra did as well. Overall, very pleased. A good value. One more thing: This unit takes two filters, and it shipped with two, but one is designed for goldfish ("Bio Clear") and the other for tripical fish ("Bio Carb "). I was glad I ordered extra ones for goldfish so I could place two of those in from the start. I think it would be better if Marina gave you the choice at point of purchase or include two of each.

AQUARIUS AQ1224 Aquarium LED Light Strip - Expandable 18 to 24, 91 LED Lamps
Some basic info:
91 3-5mm LED bulbs, 49 White, 42 Blue, placed in a look-alike T8 fluorescent tube
Worldwide voltage, regulated PSU @ 24V
Total power consumption @ 5W
Simple (outdated) non-regulated LED circuit 7 LEDs in a group with a 180ohm resistor
LEDs rated for ~30,000 hours
First light:
Came without a PSU. Returned it for another one.
Second light:
Complete package. Worked well for 3 weeks @ 12 hours a day till one of the group of 7LEDS went dead.
Third light:
Brand new, it was obviously brighter compared to my 2nd light. I wasn't sure whether it was because of the fault in the 2nd light but time will tell.
Two months into usage of the lights.
I am absolutely certain that the light output is decreasing. The third light is no longer as bright as before, now it is just dim. Needless to say for the second light, dimmer.
To summarises:
Unreliable; Not bright at all; Expensive for what it is
Seriously, just stick with fluorescent lights till LEDs have their reliability proved.
There is no way this LED light will achieve 30,000 rated hours at the rate it is getting dim. Actually, LED lights have a rating which states how long they will sustain the bright before decreasing in output. The last time I checked, most LEDs are rated 3000hours only.
Most fluorescent lights at rated for 10,000 hours and they have a relatively constant light output.

I actually bought three of them to put up in the office and so far, it's been a hit. It definitely looks amazing, but I was a bit confused by the filtering and cycling, so lost some fish in the first go around. Spoke to customer service and learned that I need to cycle the tank and only add 1-2 fish per month. The temperature does seem to rise warmer than what I would like it to be, but spoke to the company and they explained that it is a heater, not a chiller. So far, the fish seem to be doing great, and people love how they look. I may order a custom background from the company and put our company logo in there.Read Best Reviews of Aquavista 500 Wall Mounted Aquarium with Rama Background Here
Gulfstream Tropical AGU00035A Mag-Float Acrylic Aquarium Cleaner, Small
You can leave these on/in the tank all the time, but I have 2 inquisitive little kids who like to play with magnets, so in between cleanings, I take the magnets off and store them on a shelf. These magnets are VERY strong, which is great because you can vigorously scrub with them and they won't lose contact with each other -and if they do, they float, so there's no need to reach down into the tank to retrieve the fallen piece! -but if you put them together outside of the tank, they will want to snap together ferociously, and woe is you if your finger pads happen to be in the way. So keep them away from kids!
Bottom line: If you need to get a magnetic cleaner for your fish tank, the Mag Float is the way to go because the magnets are strong, well-made, they float, and come in a nice compact size. I expect that I will not need to replace mine for as long as I have my tank, which makes it well worth the price. I made sure that I ordered the acrylic one. I used it once, and it put really fine surface scratches in my Aqueon Mini-Bow acrylic tank.
The magnet function works well. If I had a glass tank, I'd recommend the glass version. But I don't think this is a good algae brush for an acrylic tank.

Product seems good in theory. When I used it for a small portion of my tank to test it out, it did clean the area, but left lots of scratches on it. Can't use it. Now I have a $10 paper weight.Read Best Reviews of Gulfstream Tropical AGU00035A Mag-Float Acrylic Aquarium Cleaner, Small Here
I use my Mag Float 30 (small) for my 28-gallon acrylic hexagon reef aquarium. Acrylic hexagons are probably some of the hardest types of aquariums to clean especially if you try to use any of the long-handle, plastic scrubbers due to limited, top-clearance access. I still use my plastic-handle scrubber periodically, but the Mag Float helps me reach the areas that I cannot reach. I really like how the Mag float magnet floats to the top when separtated. Like the other reviewer stated, I cannot scrub the curved edges with the Mag Float. Despite what other reviewers have stated I have not encountered any scratches on my acrylic aquarium due to the use of the Mag Float. Works fine with me!Want Gulfstream Tropical AGU00035A Mag-Float Acrylic Aquarium Cleaner, Small Discount?
This is recomended for a 30g acrylic aquarium. I use it in my 30g acrylic aquarium. The magnet is too weak to hold the scraper together, the glue that holds to scrapers to the handles are pouring over the side, and it doesnt scrape very well needing 5-10 passes to remove even a small ammt of algaeJardin Coral Design Silicone Ornament Aquarium Décor, Purple

I didn't check the pic too closely when I purchased. It is very small and doesn't move around too much in our tank. The Pink one is the largest and our little gold fish hang out on it. Really! We also have the Orange one but the fish in that tank are large and don't really bother with it. Cleans up well. Kids love them.Read Best Reviews of Jardin Coral Design Silicone Ornament Aquarium Décor, Purple Here

Aquarium Products Ammonia Test Strips (Freshwater), 100ct
The real reason I don't like this product is because you have to use the test tube and shake the strips in the tube for 30 seconds which is really a pain when testing multiple aquariums. I prefer a quick reading and will stick with the Quick Dip strips JUNGLE AMMONIA NO VIAL 25 CT from now on.I bought this bottle of a hundred strips...the short expiration time hit when I was less than halfway through. After that the test gets unreliable and hard to color match. But it is a good product...just buy a smaller bottle if you don't use it very often.

I like this product because it's relatively quick and simple. Regular ammonia tests take about 15-20min to show accurate results, but this only takes about 3min total from start to finish. There is a major downside to this product and that is accuracy. The test is never even close to accurate when compared to two other regular testing kits which use a vial and chemical drops over a 15-20min period to show results. I think this is a good "quick" test but it should not be used as the only test. I now use the strips to watch for changes in the ammonia levels as opposed to trying to get an accurate reading. Ammonia should always be as close to 0 as possible, but realistically I try to keep it below 0.25ppm. The test strips always tell me that the ammonia is around 1.0 which is unsafe for my fish, but my two regular test kits indicate that my ammonia is between 0-0.25ppm which is safe for my fish. So the test really isn't accurate, but it does register changes so when the strip says it's higher than 1.0ppm I can usually see a slight increase when I test with the test kits. At first I thought it might be close to the expiration date like some other reviews said, but my bottle is good until April 2013.
I recommend this product as a quick test to watch for changes, but I don't recommend this as the only test you use. Monitoring water quality levels is important, and high ammonia is toxic for most fish so it is important to understand the accurate levels.

BOught it as a replacement for the glass CO2 diffusers, but I'm not very happy. CO2 is 'collected' and then released as large bubbles of CO2. I tried all settings/flow rates, but can't get it right. Uses a lot of CO2 for the same result as the glass diffusers (note. Got a 80 gallon, densely planted fish tank)I usually don't post reviews but I saw the ones for this product and felt I had to post my thoughts. I own two of these reactors and use them in a 200gal heavy planted community tank. I use a 10 lb. bottle of co2 and ph monitor to control the regulator. I can push about 5 bubbles per second max and the two diffusers eat it up. If you are having problems with yours it because you didn't set it up correctly. Your flow is two high or you got bad gas pressure.Want Red Sea Fish Pharm ARER51034 Aquarium CO2 Reactor Pump Plant Care Products, 500-Liter Discount?
I ordered thisone for my dad for his 135 gal tank. At first I thought it doesn't work, I couldn't see any bubbles coming out like from the glass difusers, but dad said that's what it's supposed to do. You can actually see it work, I little whirlpool inside it. We planted the tank yesterday and the reactor isn't there for even 24hrs and is just perfect and all plants are producing lots of oxygen. I hope it will stay as good as we think it is.Algae Magnet Cleaner
Jardin Aquarium Fish Tank Battery Powered Portable Air Pump
It came with air line tubing and an air stone in case you need one. Nice to have that bonus.
The plastic case isn't the highest quality I have ever seen in a product, but the batteries fit in, the case closed and the pump worked, so hard to complain for less than $10.00!the best thing about this battery powered air pump is that it is cheep but it gets the job done i am glad that i got 3 of these pumps i have a 125 gallon tank with 3 full grown oscars in it this past year we had a power outage for 12 days and this pump kept them all alive one more comment for those that would like a light on your tank they make something that you plug your light into it will run it for about 24 hours but the batteries for it are nt cheep like $12 for just one

No complaints about this product, and not much to add to my title. I had to drive from Northwest Indiana to Kissimmee Florida (a good 17 hour drive, NOT including the periodic rest stops and gas stations) and this was one of 3 pumps I had going for my 3 containers of fish. As I said, this thing kept trucking along the entire trip, even well after we arrived to our destination. I'm not sure how much longer it would have lasted, but all I know is, it was STILL going when I decided to just put new batteries in while I kept the fish in their bins while I caught some zzz's.Great product. Great reliability.

I didn't know what to expect when I bought this unit. I wanted it for a portable live bait pail. It works, but it's noisy and I'm not sure how it's going to hold up over time. The plastic is kind of thin and the battery contacts are as low quality as they could be made and still work. We'll see...

We just moved across three states. A total of 15 hours drive time and it was awful.Breaking down along the side of the road. Getting stuck in traffic for hours. 15 rats, 3 dogs, 1 cat and two buckets full of fish. This little thing saved my fishes life... And my sanity.
I have three fancy goldfish. One which, if she does not have constant oxygen, she will die. No ifs, ands,or buts. So when I saw this, I jumped on it.
I only purchased one, then I also bought some airline splits. When it arrived, I didn't think much of it. A plastic box, woo.
However this little plastic box put out enough air to keep 50 guppies and 3 very large, very impatient, fancy goldfish swimming for 15 hours.
It says it takes 2 D batteries, but will run on only one if emergencies pop up. (Like your dog takes off through an auto-zone parkinglot and you jump out and knock this little bad boy off the bucket and batteries go flying towards a ditch... For example.)
Love this thing, will be purchasing another one!
TOM Stellar Air Pump W-40 - 40gal to 55gal tank
The cord is long and it was a piece of cake to set up. The one I received is all black. It is not like the picture so if you're expecting what's in the picture, I have to assume you will also get a black one. (I prefer black so I was fine with it)
I recommend this pump for strength. This is hands-down one of my favorite air pumps. I use it to operate the box filters for two 29-gallon fish tanks in my basement fishroom. The pump is fairly quiet, very powerful, and very sleek in its design (mine is black, not white like the picture). It's also a wonderful option for supplying air to multiple tanks, as its air output is strong enough to split with a gang valve.
