PondCare Summer Staple Pellet Fish Food, 10 Ounce

PondCare Summer Staple Pellet Fish Food, 10 OunceMy pond goldfish like it. Small pellets for smaller fish. My fish are about 4-5 inches, and they can eat 2 at a time.

The goldfish in our pond love this food. Previous years we used a regular goldfish flake food, and always had algae problems (it never occurred to me there might be a different food for pond fish versus aquarium fish). I'm not sure if this food is what's helped so much this year, but this year we have a crystal clear pond and seemingly super happy fish. I know it, because this summer I could actually see them! I'm ordering PondCare 180 Spring & Autumn Pellet Fish Food for the cooler months.

Penn Plax Curved Corner Glass Aquarium Kit, 10-Gallon

Penn Plax Curved Corner Glass Aquarium Kit, 10-GallonI bought this tank for the seamless front as it's very modern in appearance. I love the glass tank itself and the internal filter seems quiet and capable but there are a few things I'd like to point out. The led light included is far too weak for anything other than simulated moonlight so you'll need to upgrade to a clip-on that will fit a rimless tank. I had an extra Fluval mini power 13W compact which works much better. The final thing I should mention is the lid is only a thin piece of plastic attached to hinges.

Pros: Aesthetic appearance, powerful internal filter with optional aeration, and a protective mat.

Cons: Weak lighting and flimsy hood. Basically you're paying for a pretty tank and internal filter, unless you're raising nocturnal species.

I like the wrap around feature of the glass which will create a better visual effect. I thought the filter was a little small and have purchased a different filter that hangs on the side. The included filter should be ok for most people though. Our first shipped tank had a scratch in the glass but Penn Plax replaced the entire kit. So I would not be hesitant to recommend their products to anyone.

The tank itself is sturdy and attractive! But the lid is kinda weak and flimsy! The light feature isn't the best made either! I will definitely be keeping the tank, but I will probably be replacing the lid with either thicker plexiglass or glass! And I will probably be buying better accessories too, but that's just part of the fun of setting an aquarium up!

biUbe Aquarium with LED Light, Black, 9 Gallons

biUbe Aquarium with LED Light, Black, 9 GallonsI first read about this thing in the NY Times and the article was generally glowing. Of course they only interviewed the owner of the company for the story. The thing that sold me in the article was that this was a super sleek design. The picture on the cover of the box certainly makes one think this as well. With just a little more effort this could have been an artful design but the company skimped and it's really just a plain aquarium with some accessories in the box. First as pictured here the fish would die within a few hours. You need a (not included) heater in order to keep the fish in this picture. The heater is a big ugly unit that attaches via suction cups to the back of the aquarium. The round shape only makes things worse it tends to magnify the heater when looking at the thing from the front. They skimped a better design would have been a built-in sleak heater along the bottom of the unit. With the addition of the heater there are now 3 power cables running behind the aquarium. These seem to be artfully Photoshoped out in the picture. 3 power cables does not equal elegant design. In an all in one unit like this why not have a single power cable into the head unit that would have been sleak. The pump on this thing is loud, as we found out there are much quiter pumps than the one that ships in the box. Loud pump does not equal elegant design. Along with the three power cables dangling off the back, an air cable also needs to dangle out there. Again you don't see this in the picture a much better design would have been to build the airpump and air cable into the top peice of this unit.

I ended up returning it. I next went to the most reputable aquarium store in the area and had them build up an aquarium with the same specs as this one. It ended up being quiter, cheaper and in the end sleaker. I think that it is possible to make a more artfully designed aquarium, but the biUbe doesn't come close.

Oh and the NYTimes gets 1 star for their article as well.

I have always liked low maintenance aquariums having had an Eclipse 6 on my desk at work. I like the Biube so much I'm planning on purchasing the Larger 16 gallon Biorb for another room.

The set up was quick and easy (By the way, the light kit or other available accessories plug into the small airpump that came with it as it is also a transformer (only a problem when the airpump eventally dies like they all seem to do in time). Also the airpump is a little loud but really functions well. And the set-up saves a lot of cord clutter.

The only thing I've not been as thrilled with is the plastic-esque stand is not as nice as it appears in pictures and pretty expensive for what it is. In fact its almost too short for my liking and the design of 2 flat boards and a metal tube as the support is well... just plain cheesy. Also it would be nice to have some storage areas in the stand as there is no shelf or compartment or anything to hide the airpump or store extra filters, supplies and fish food. The tank is very cool, but I'm having a carpenter build a nicer looking stand to showcase my fish.

I've only had it set up for a week but I've already gotten tons of compliments on it and my fish are still swimming! My recommendation is buy the tank but skip the stand. The tank is really a conversation piece with it's center column of bubbles!

I am new to this whole fish thing and struggled my first three weeks with high ammonia levels. No fish died but I felt at first I had to really watch it... almost to the point of obsession. The people at the fish store told me I could put 5 or more fish in the 9 gallon tank... that was my first mistake. I only put three large oranda's in and I still think this tank is over crowded. Also, it is hard to find the accessories to the biUbe tank. The stand is too unstable... I ended up putting it on a table. BUT, I feel the filtration system and the sleek, tall design are lovely.

My advice if you want this tank, is to start very slow and take several days to allow the tank to cultivate the beneficial environment. Wait to put in the fish in and DON'T OVER CROWD THIS TANK...

I have been keeping fish on and off for several years now and I have to say I love this tank. I knew it was 9 gallons but for some reason I was surprised by the size of it when I took it out. The filtration system is really great and I am happy the instructions talk about SLOWLY putting fish into the tank. When I first kept fish I wasnt aware of the nitrate rise when you first introduce them to the tank..so its nice to see they bring this to light. Overall I really enjoy this tank. I do not have the stand for it, mine is just on my table. I have small-ish fish in mine, tetras and danios, so I can fit a good shoal of them with my plants.

The drawbacks are that like others have said, the pump it comes with is noisy, but that is an easy fix. And if you set it up properly, there is a wait time to get all the fish you want..which is always the funnest part! But its less of a drawback because it is the proper way to stock a tank anyway. The filtration change packets are expensive but convienient. But a remedy to the expense is just buying them bulk on ebay.

I definitly reccomend this tank to others. My sister in law has the BiOrbe and she loves that as well.

I am a very lazy pet owner and hate maintaining fish tanks which is what made me consider this one. It was advertised as a "low maintenance" tank on another site. I basically just loved the look of the tanks. I purchased 2 of them. They are much bigger then I expected but that is a good thing. It was very easy to set up and so far have not really required any maintenance. I bought my own round tables from a local store versus getting the Biube/orb stands as I read reviews that they are not worth it. My tanks are beautiful and have added a very cool element to my living room. I have huge TV, but the tanks have turned into the focal point when I have company. The only downfall is the picture is a little misleading. It just shows this beautiful tank and side steps the fact that there are cords involved. There are the cords for the tank itself and then for the most part, you will need a heater which is never displayed in pictures and a thermometer. I have had a hard time hiding all the cords, but other then that, I am very please with my tanks.

Fluval Chi Cover

Fluval Chi CoverAfter losing several fish to jumping escapes, I was glad to see this product become available. It's a little expensive for a notched piece of plastic that, in my opinion, should've been included with the original tank. That said, it works perfectly and has the added bonus of minimizing splash marks around the outside of the tank and on the desk where I've placed my tank. The cover has pegs in the lower side to keep it in place and the top surface is beveled to encourage splashes from the bubbler to flow back into the tank. It seems to cut down on evaporation as well. I'm happy with my purchase.

I love my Fluval Chi but as with other Chi owners, my biggest problem with the design is the large amount of water evaporation and of course, suicidal fish jumpers. The cover does help with the fish issue, and since I've installed the cover, I haven't found a fish or ghost shrimp outside the tank. Unfortunately the evaporation is just as rampant as before the cover. I'm sure the cover does help a bit, but it's not really noticeable. What I do notice however, is the fact that these covers get "gunky" really quickly. Water drops will dry on the top, hanging droplets will leave marks on the underside, etc. While the covers are really easy to clean with just a little water and elbow grease, it is a weekly chore if you want to keep them looking nice.

That being said, while I've seen the Chi drop in price as low as the five to six dollar mark (but as high as sixteen!), it still seems pretty overpriced for what it is. If you can get your hands on some cheap polycarbonate or acrylic, it should work just as well if you don't mind a little DIY.

I never had a problem with having a fish that attempted to jump out of the tank... but decided to purchase this lid just as a precautionary measure. For $10, I think the price is kind of on the steep side... but it fits on top of the tank perfectly. I wonder why fluval wont include this lid as part of the package? :/

I had some fish that *loved* jumping out of the tank and dying (loaches). That, plus the crabs and snail adventures, prompted me to get this cover. It's really nice, but the only drawback it had no spot for the heater I had installed. That was easily fixed by cutting a small opening with my dremel, though ;)

Bonus: No more roommates shouting, "DAVE THERE IS A CRAB IN THE HALLWAY" at 7 am.

Want Fluval Chi Cover Discount?

First off, the lid itself is cheap and flimsy. one of the pegs to hold the lid in place broke off rather easily.

And lastly this lid has not prevented 2 Betta fish from jumping to their deaths. It leaves large gaps and does not work.

Titanium Ground Probe with 10 ft. Wire

Titanium Ground Probe with 10 ft. WireAfter purchasing this probe, I found others (for the same price) that already have a "plug" on the end. This one is designed to be attached directly to the wall outlet's grounding screw. I have two problems with that... first, you can't just take it out because it's attached to the wall outlet. You'll have to at least use a screwdriver to remove it (providing your outlets face plate has the grounding screw). If not, you'll have to remove the face plate and then remove the ground. Second, I can't get to my wall outlet. I have two power strips running from the outlet (which is behind the middle of my tank and cannot be reached) into the aquarium stand. To make this work, I had to buy a replacement male plug to mount the probe wire to, so I could plug it into one of the power strips. I removed the two main prongs and left the ground prong(on the new replacement plug end). Then, to keep the plug stable, I glued a child proof outlet adapter to the plug to replace the two metal prongs that I removed. I basically had to make this probe to be like the other brand that already has all this which wound up costing a little more and wasted a bit of time. Next time I'll just buy the one that has a plug on the end. If you don't mind doing all that, then this probe is fine. The only way I could justify purchasing this one again would be if this one was on clearance at a really good price but at $15. You can get a finished product.

This works great. i have a tank stand that is open on the back and it was a piece of cake installing this. the trick is that you need to have the suction cap above the tank water level so I allow the tank to be a little lower on water for this setup. it sets up easily. i open the plate to the electrical outlet and then put this on the inside and put the plate back on. it has plenty of curve on the wire footage so no problem there. the fish looked at it for about half a day and now have forgotten about it totally. it does make the water very nice and clean. the city just put one of those horrid smart meters on the outside--i rent at the moment so had no say about it and boy did my fish react to that thing. this has calmed them down and they are okay now. i have one snail in one tank and it was ready to call it

quits when this smart meter was installed; this gadget did something and the snail has recovered and back to normal. the fish tank that is in the room where this smart meter is at was having problems. my siamese fighting fish knew something was amuck because he kept staring at where the meter was loaded and pretty much just stopped swimming. now that this probe is installed, they don't seem to be bothered by the meter. i can't be in the room where this meter was installed, but am finding wearing a copper necklace and a copper bracelet is helping. i started getting really severe headaches when the meter was installed and the fish reacting to it made it clear something was really wrong. i am working to move and when I do I will

have both my fish tanks not in the room the meter is against as it seems the room that it is against needs to be vacant or at least low use. Some landlords are not allowing the smart meter to be loaded as per the health and impact on residents, but my landlord allowed it and now people are having health impacts from it. i am elated this probe is helping my fish tank as it looked like I was going to lose my

fish residents if I didn't do something once this smart meter was loaded on to the apartment i live at. I just need to find a place the smart meter isn't loaded so I can be as happy as my fish are now.

So I have nothing but high praise for this probe. Just remember to keep the

suction cup above the tank water level. Installation is fast and easy.

Buy Titanium Ground Probe with 10 ft. Wire Now

I ordered four, since I have four tanks. The end that goes into the electrical "ground" has a little metal hoop that you're supposed to put in the electrical outlet. You unscrew the plate, insert the hoop over the center screw that goes into the ground, and simply screw it back in. Simple, right? But since all of my tanks are already established, it was not possible to reach the outlet for three of them. I really didn't want to drain my 75 gallon tank in order to make it light enough to move away from the wall in order to reach the outlet. So off we went to Lowes where a very helpful associate came up with a plan that wouldn't a) electrocute us or the fish and b) wouldn't burn the house down. We purchased 3 3-prong plugs . You unscrew the prongs from the plastic cover, feed the ground probe wire through the hole where the cord normally goes, insert it onto the ground, put it back together, and in the case of my overly cautious husband, wrap the probe wire/end of the plug with lots of electrical tape because the probe wire is very thin and the hole is large enough for a thicker diameter heavy duty extension cord. Plug it into the surge protector and it works perfectly. We tested the tanks before and after with an analog multimeter and the Titanium Ground Probes removed all voltage in the water. We can't tell a difference, but I'm sure the fish can.

(2) 1300 GPH Coral Aquarium Fish Pump Wave Makers Powerhead

(2) 1300 GPH Coral Aquarium Fish Pump Wave Makers PowerheadI needed more flow in my saltwater tank, but didn't want to go out and spend $60 on a new powerhead. I figured I'd try it out and if they worked I'd be able to spread the word to friends in the hobby and if they didn't then I only wasted $20 and learned my lesson. The verdict...worth it.

Pros:

-Quiet operation

-Excellent flow

-Fish don't show any signs of discomfort from vibration or noise inside the tank

-A sixth the price of top name brands

-Comes with TWO powerheads. I didn't even realize that until after I ordered.

Cons:

-As stated in another review, the suction cups are NOT any good. I installed and watched for ten minutes, before heading to the couch. a minute later I turned around and the tank was a plume of sand as the powerhead had fell and was shooting straight at the sand bed. A DIY mod (magnet for me) is definitely necessary.

Overall, definitely worth the investment, as the only issue is suction cups and the problem can be solved for $5 total for both pumps. Thumbs up to savings.

This is an astonishingly good deal. I'd give it five stars, if not for the TWO cons I mention below.

They are powerful. In fact, these power heads are even stronger than you are imagining. Just one is more than powerful enough for my 75 gallon tank...and yet, this listing is for two of them at half the price of one normal power head.

So that's a plus.

The problem is that its name is "Wave Maker", yet it's not one, at least not as I understand them. A wave maker uses some mechanism (like a rotating nozzle or automatically turning off/on at a natural interval) to create an uneven current, emulating the waves that coral experience on an actual reef.

Yet these insanely powerful pumps blow a steady stream of water, knocking over coral with its incessant push...without the slightest variation or wave effect.

The closest I've been able to come to using them as a "wave maker" is to point them at each other, the conflicting currents creating quite a disruption. But two of them are far too powerful for my 75 gallon tank, so that's not really a solution.

So, to sum up:

PRO:

* Each one of the two power heads in this listing are more powerful than the single name-brand power head you'd normally buy for TWICE the price. If what you need is inexpensive current for your tank, these are the best deal, by far.

CONS:

* They are called "wave maker", but they don't make waves. No rotating nozzle, no timed cycling, nothing.

* One of the two I bought doesn't turn on by itself. The impeller sticks, much like you encounter in an old power filter. I have to reach in the tank and poke at it, which will cause it to start and then stick again. I must then repeat the poking, until some random chance causes it to stay on. I get to do that again next time the power goes off, or something else interrupts the pump.

I strongly recommend this product, if you ONLY want a powerful, but steady, stream of water for your very large reef tank or riffle tank.

If you want waves, I guess you could rig something with them, but otherwise these aren't the pumps for you.

I've been using one of these for a few months, and it has worked reliably so far. Remind me to check back in at some future date and let you know if it wore out faster than the name brands.

Great product for the price. Going on 2 months now and the suction cups are still holding strong.

I stretched the power cord and tied it to reduce the stress on the suction cups.

I would defenetly recommend this product and will buy for me other tank aswell.

Doesnt make alot of noise. I guess people just need to complaint about something.

Hope this helps.

Conceptual Creations SCC01182 Watertfall Small Animal Dish, Tropical

Conceptual Creations SCC01182 Watertfall Small Animal Dish, TropicalWell, my son had to have one of these for his Crested Gecko terrarium when we saw it at Petsmart. I didn't have time to do any research on it, but I knew I could return it if we weren't happy. About 30 mins after opening it up and trying to set it up, I had just about given up on this thing! Like others have mentioned, the pump is too strong and it blows water over the edges resulting in leaks. If you don't fill it as high, it flows better but the pump makes too much racquet.

Well, I decided I was going to install a small valve to regulate the flow down and hopefully get this thing adjusted correctly. As I was about to start cutting the hose to allow for my valve to fit in I realized there was a slide tab on the end of the pump. It was marked with a "+" and a "-" symbol. Sliding the tab opens and closes a small gate in the pump which regulated the amount of water the pump pulls which in turn regulates the flow. After a few tries, I closed the tab 3 clicks from full open and now it flows perfectly!!! It's amazingly quiet and no water leaves the falls area except to return to the reservoir.

OK, after I got that situated, I figured I better perfect this thing by getting the feeding dish to align properly. In order to do that, I trimmed the 2 large tabs off of the bottom of it with a pair of tile snips (I'm sure a pair of wire cutters would work just as well). Then I lightly sanded the area that I trimmed just to remove any sharp edges. Now it fits like it should and it sits even instead of being cocked up at an angle. Not sure why the tabs are there because they really hinder it from installing properly.

All in all, I'm happy with the purchase. The instructions really should have been better then what is printed on the box, especially when it comes to adjusting the pump.

Don't be fooled by the design when comparing it to the small Exo-Terra waterfall. I bought this product around 2 weeks ago for my hermit crab tank. I chose this particular waterfall for the design instead of the Exo-Terra waterfall. I was very, VERY excited about receiving this and couldn't wait to set it up. This past 2 weeks have been a complete disaster concerning this waterfall. I absolutely HATE it! Despite going by the exact directions, it still leaked water and had be refilled multiple times a day which saturated the substrate. I usually ended up having to unplug it due to the leakage. I've done every possible thing to stop the water from leaking, but it still fails miserably. Usually within 15-20 minutes, the water is too low for the pump to work. There is no obvious water fill line and the ridge inside the reservoir that seems to be the fill line is much too low for the pump to work properly.

I assumed that the waterfall would be one complete piece, but instead it comes in 3 pieces. The actual design of the waterfall and reservoir is horrible. The waterfall itself doesn't even sit level on the reservoir and it in't clear how its supposed to fit. Also, the food dish doesn't fit properly at all. My large hermit crab can easily displace it and dump the food out. I've had to go as far as using a hot glue gun and securing the waterfall to the base, which I thought would fix the leakage of water. Also, due to the poor design, I had to use the hot glue gun to fill in low areas in the bottom pool which was leaking in multiple places. I've literally lost count of how many times I've had to remove it and attempt to fix the problem and that is NO exaggeration! At least the Exo-Terra waterfall is more practical by being in one whole piece.

This waterfall is nice the water sounds are great and the look and size of it is perfect but, The pump is to big and powerful for the base that holds the water. All the water that I put in the base was being pushed out so fast buy the pump it was leaking from the base and the sides of the waterfall. Also the base is to shallow for the pump so when the water leaked out the pump started makeing loud noises. The water leaked at a very fast rate which ended up soaking the subsrate completely, but the problem is very easily fixed my husband went to home depot and bought a plastic plant pot liner for 77 cents and put the waterfall on top of the liner instead of the base. The liner works because it is a lot deeper than the base of the waterfall so you dont have to fill the liner to the top so the pump doesnt throw any of the water out and the liner is deep enough for the pump itself. I myself ignored the other reviews on this but it really does leak water believe me! But for 77 extra cents the problem is easily corrected!

All Glass Aquarium AAG29607 Versa Top, 72bf

All Glass Aquarium AAG29607 Versa Top, 72bfThe 72 gallon bow front Aqueon Versa Top came to me from Ozbo and in excellent condition. The top I received is different than the picture. It is actually split in half from front to back instead of the single lid as shown in order to fit the center brace. That is a good thing as the center brace in the Aqueon 72 gallon bow front aquarium I have has a rabbit that it sits in. I had to attach two included handles and cut the back strip to fit my plumbing which is normal. I'm very please with its construction and fit. Would definitely order from Amazon, Ozbo, and Aqueon again.

Like many other reviewers have commented, this is not one glass topit comes in two pieces, but fits the 72 gallon bowfront perfectly, and it's better that it comes in two piecesone side can have complete coverage, while the other side can leave room for air tubing/filters. Unfortunately, like a couple of other reviewers on here, I had the bad experience of shoddy packagingwhen it arrived, all of the 'padding' in the package was on one side. Upon opening the package I discovered one of the sides (the opposite side of the one with all the padding, so clearly that padding helps) was shattered. This is a very disconcerting thing when you spend this much money on a product (poor college student here, so this is a big deal for me). That said, the side that was not shattered fit perfectly and looked quite good. It's because, excluding shoddy packaging, it's a good product, on top of the fact that returning things to amazon is about the easiest thing in the world (I didn't even have to leave my apartmentjust repacked the top in the original packaging, clicked the option for amazon to contact UPS, and printed the return labelnext day UPS shows up, and day after that I had my refund in my accounttwo days total, it was kind of amazing). So the ease of return, along w/the knowledge that it is a good product, led me to the 3 star review. I have gone ahead and tried re-ordering it, hoping for better results this time. I will update w/the condition of the second package. Really, if you are looking for a glass top for your aquarium, if you order directly through amazon they are so good w/returns that the only reason not to give it a try (in my book) is if you are in urgent need of a top right awayif you have time, give it a chance, returns are super easy and free.
