Hydor ETH 300 In-Line External Heater 300w 5/8" hose

Hydor ETH 300 In-Line External Heater 300w 5/8' hoseI purchased this to replace a submersible heater that was overheating the tank despite the lowest setting. Right away, I could tell that the Hydor was well constructed and made from much better materials than any other heater I have ever used. The installation instructions were a bit vague, but its not a very complicated system. Once I got it going, I was very impressed! It does keep the temperature very even and consistent according to the setting. It's also nice since its hidden away behind the stand completely out of sight. One less piece of equipment in the tank! Well worth the extra price.

*UPDATE Demoted this to two stars. It had been keeping temperature pretty consistent for weeks, but today I went down to find all my fish were dead. The temperature had gone up to 102 degrees without warning. I checked the heater and the setting hadn't changed. I'm checking to see what kind of warranty is offered!

*UPDATE Hydor did honor the warranty and replace this product. Unfortunately, I noticed a temperature spike once again with the replacement. This time I did manage to catch it before it killed any more fish. While this item heats very well, the thermostat is COMPLETELY useless and unreliable. One commenter on this review suggested using a separate thermostat (Hydroset was the recommendation) which I think is exactly what I need.

I am a long time fish keeper now specializing in discus. I have owned just about every brand of heater in my over thirty years in the hobby. No heater I have even owned is comparable to this one. It is quite simply far better than any other aquarium heater. Easy to set, accurate, holds temperatures extremely stable. It must be used with a canister filter which I notice the Informational Blurb does not include, but if you run a canister filter on your aquarium this is the one to own.

This ETH-300 has been working great for almost a year now. I have it hooked up to the Hydroset thermostat in my 90g male Peacock Cichlid tank. Its plumped inline to my Fluval FX5 using some 1" x 5/8" barbs. It keeps my tanks temp steady at 79°, every once in a while I'll set it to 80°. I love the digital display.

Nothing else to say...it works and works well. Just make sure you get a thermostat to hook the heater up to just just as added protection in case of a heater failure.

I installed this heater on a new 75G saltwater tank. Water was about 68deg when I started and it only took about 8 or 9 hours to get the tank to 78deg. I have a very good digital thermometer and this heater keeps the tank +/.3degs from target temp. Great heater and a good value.

I get tired of looking at glass heaters taking up room in my fish tank or having to wipe the glass off or having to worry about larger fish breaking the glass. I found this product at a local pet store and amazon had the lowest price. It is easy to install inline with the filter and is super reliable and easy to adjust. I never have to look at a heater inside my tank again and cleaning is easy. To clean you can just use a took brush or the larger pipe cleaners. I highly recommend this heater for any fish tank.

API PH Test and Ajuster Combo Test Kit

API PH Test and Ajuster Combo Test Kitworks good and easy what more can i say. i like it.you need this for your fish bowl.its easy really

This product is great! My only complaint is that the box was open and kinda smashed when I got it. It was supposed to be new. 4 Stars for product appearance, 5 stars for product effectiveness, and 5 stars for arrival time! All in all, happy customer here. :)

I use this product every week to test and adjust the water for my fish because I have acidic water and my community tank needs 7.0-7.4 PH to be healthy (I like to keep the PH higher as this helps prevent my snails from suffering from their shells degrading). One thing to be noted; this test kit only tests up to 7.6....not a big problem for me because I don't really need it to test higher...but if someone wanted to use it for other water quality testing purposes be cautious.

I would recommend this to anyone keeping freshwater aquariums. This is very handy to have.

If you were going to test the water in a fish tank, this is probably a good product. However, I purchased this through a site dedicated to selling products for canning [preserving] food. Per the site, I required an acid content of a pH of 4.6 or below, to safely preserve food by canning. With that said, this kit tests from a range of 6 to 7.6; basically pointless for testing food products for a higher acid content.

U.P. Aqua Super Atomizer (large)

U.P. Aqua Super AtomizerI bought this product for use with my pressurized CO2 system. First off, this atomizer requires a lot of pressure. The first day it fizzed perfectly and I was very happy with it. The next day it was fizzing about half as much as the first day and required more pressure. By the third day, it was no longer fizzing even with increased pressure high enough to start ballooning the CO2 tubing. I ordered this product twice and the same thing happened both times in the same amount of time. I was hoping that it was originally a defective product on the first one but that doesn't appear to be the case. I would NOT recommend buying this product.

Based on the previous reviews I purchased this atomizer in early April 2012 to replace and old Aquatek 3 in 1 diffuser installed in a CO2 pressurized system @ ±35 psi and it did not ouput as many fine bubbles as supposed to, first it took a very long time to start outputting bubbles, finally when the bubbles started to flow, they were big, like out of an air stone, thus not fully dissolving in the water column.

If you purchase this atomizer, I hope you get a non defective one since this has 5 star reviews.

And last but not least, Thank you Amazon for allowing me to return this item.

Buy U.P. Aqua Super Atomizer (large) Now

The diffuser produces a lot of medium and large bubbles instead of a fine mist of tiny, barely visible bubbles. The bubbles from this type of diffuser are supposed to be so tiny that they are hard to see individually and instead form a "mist". As you can see from the video it is not the case of this diffuser.

I replaced a "classic" CO2 diffuser (the type with a horizontal ceramic disk mounted in glass) with this one for my 125l aquarium. CO2 concentration dropped from 30 ppm to 16 ppm within 2 hours (I am measuring CO2 precisely with a professional device).

A good product in this category is the Green Leaf Aquariums Atomic Co2 Diffuser II (unfortunately Amazon doesn't carry it, look it up on youtube to see how it is supposed to work).

This product may be cheap but it will waste your CO2 and thus it will be more expensive in the long term.

I have a couple of these. One still works great, but the other developed a leak and now functions less than favorably by comparison. When they work, they're probably the best in terms of dissolving CO2 into the water column. I use a pressurized CO2 system FYI

Want U.P. Aqua Super Atomizer (large) Discount?

This atomizer requires very high working pressure. It didn't get a decent flow rate until I got up to 50 PSI which is way too high for an aquarium setup, in fact my pressure relief valve trips at 51 PSI.

Would not recommend.

Jungle TB640W Tank Buddies Correct pH, 8-Tablet

Jungle TB640W Tank Buddies Correct pH, 8-TabletThis stuff's label doesn't say much about what it does. Does it raise the ph, or lower the ph? Is it just baking soda or calcium carbonate in a fizz tab? It seems to have added a little bit of alkalinity (buffering capacity) to my tank and pushed the acidity from 6.9 to 6.8 further away from center!.

One tablet in a fresh tank will cloud the water for days. A tablet in an estableshed tank will cloud the water if the ph is not too far off from where this stuff wants it to be. There is no patent information available on it, and there is no more information on the product website than on the product packaging. I would rather stick to products like ph+ and phto resolve specific issues with ph than to have a mystery tablet that advertizes like it handles things either way.

I suppose if you did have a big ph problem, that this stuff probably could help. But I wouldn't include it in regular maintenance routine unless your tap water comes out with the acidity of a soft drink.

I wish that companies who market 'simple fix' products like this to the general public would not disrespect us so much as to hide how the product works... Marketing on the front of the pagkage & explanation on the back. All we get here is marketing & auto-magic hype.

Tried these for lowering the pH in my fresh water aquarium, simply put, doesn't work. Tested water directly from faucet and pH was around 7.6 and after adding 2 tablets to a 20 gal aquarium, pH is near 8!!! These tablets are useless, stick with something you can read a label on the packaging that describes contents & remedies. Directions do say you may need to soften very hard water first, don't know if this would've made a difference or not!? I'll be buying something else from now on.

These helped lower the PH in my aquarium. What I liked about them, is you could add the number of tablets required which disintegrated quickly. They were easier to handle than messy measuring spoons.

I will not claim that this product works for everyone (in fact if you look at all the reviews, you will see some that claim this PH corrector does not work) but it did work for me. The PH in my 20 gallon tank used to be on the low side around 5.2 to 5.6. I placed 2 tablets (1 tablet per 10 gallons) inside a cup filled with water from my auarium and let sit for a few minutes while it dissolves (I don't recommend placing it directly in the tank). I poured the water into my tank and after a couple hours or so I tested again and the PH was between 6.5 and 7.0 which is much better than where it was. For me the effects lasted for quite a while not sure how long but definitely more than a couple days or so. I'd say maybe a month? Anyway this product worked for me and if your PH is a little high or low I'd recommend trying these. I'm not sure how well this stuff would work if your PH is off by a lot though. But I thought an increase from 5.2 to 6.5 to 6.8 was pretty good! I plan on buying these again.

2 PCS Non-return Check Valves for Aquarium Air Pump

2 PCS Non-return Check Valves for Aquarium Air PumpAs with any other check valves, this will prevent water from working its way into your air pump in case of of a power outage or during water changes. The valves come in a clear plastic bag with no instructions, but you can simply blow into the valve and whatever end the air comes out of, that's the direction to install them. If you look at the valve closely, you'll notice the inner part, a white piece of plastic, the narrowest part of it should be pointing towards your aquarium; Quick tip, you'll also notice the narrowest part has engravings around it that look like ^ ^.

Installation is easy, but if you have standard size hosing, do not expect it to slide all the way into the valve, because the tip gets wider as it reaches the valve's chamber. I installed the tube as far as I could and then gave it a good tuck to ensure it wouldn't come off during operation, it stayed nice and tight with no air leaks.

All in all, a good, inexpensive way to protect your air pump. A must have. Hope this helps.

P.S. I took and edited a couple of pictures of these. You can view them in the item gallery/images in case you are wondering the direction of which to install these.

UPDATE (Jan.2013):

It's been almost a year since I bought these (Jan.2012) and they still work. I have two air stones in my aquarium running 24/7 and the valves still let air through constantly and without a problem.

These work and look nicer than the cheaper blue ones. What more is there to say about a little plastic valve. In response to the reviewer that couldn't figure out how they work. When you blow into the hole on each end, one way will allow air to pass through and the other won't. Install the tubing from the pump so that it can blow the air through the valve.

They are easy the put in the plastic tubing you use for the air supply. Nothing really to exciting to write about. They work.

It takes a lot of pressure to push air through these valves. I couldn't even blow through one of them when I got it. I hooked them up to my shop air compressor and this seemed to loosen them up a little but I would not recommend them.

They work as intended, but require a verry strong pump or it will simply block air both ways. Not Great, meh at best.

Marina Betta Habitat - Halfmoon

Marina Betta Habitat - HalfmoonI've owned the Marina betta kit "Zen cube" version before, and I have to say it was very pretty but too small for the fish. A betta should have ideally a gallon (or possibly more) for them to be healthy and swim around.

This new one is larger (almost 1 gallon) and a lot nicer.

I got the LED lamp with it and some blue glass "rocks" at the bottom, with a few live plants, it looks very pretty.

My betta loves it, I've even put my miniature heater next to the aquarium at times for him to feel warm this winter (bettas can handle various temperatures pretty well, but they're tropical fish from Thailand originally -so the warm makes them feel good).

He keeps making a lot of bubbles at the top (they call those bubble nest), which is a sign that he is happy.

I think this is just the right size for a betta aquarium, the others are just too small (some of them are horribly tiny for the fish), but this one has enough room for the fish to swim around. He seems to love the live plants as well.

Not to mention that with the lighting, blue rocks reflection, the fish and his live plants, this aquarium really does embellish my room!

EDIT: There has been other reviews of this aquarium, but after reading them I realize they haven't actually bought the product. They're just giving their thoughts. I didn't know Amazon would allow that but anyways, this is what I have to say: There's a rule with most animals cages/aquarium, and that is the bigger the better. Then, it really all depends how well you take care of your pets. Some people would just buy it as an ornament and forget about it, but others will actually take care of it. I've owned many aquariums in the past (including a large 120 gallon) and I can tell you that although the bigger the better, it really depends on how you take care of them.

There's a secret: DO NOT overfeed your fish. In nature, they barely eat anything (if they find something), that's why they naturally spend their lives crawling for food, that's what their life consist of essentially. But in a controlled environment, it can be tempting to give them as much food as they could eat. The problem is, fishes do not store fats like we do. And those pellets and other fish food we buy are nutritionally very, very rich.

I grew up in a home with a 120 gallons aquarium back in the days when I was living in Europe, and we would only feed them once a week. Some of those fishes have lived for longer than 10 years, and others for as long as I can remember off. Bigger is better, but care is key.

The bottom line is, if you're genuinely interested into "adopting" a pet betta fish, then read about their needs. The internet is a wonderful space to learn. Don't get an aquarium too small -they're fishes, they need to swim for them to stay healthy. This one is just the right size for a small betta aquarium.

Bought this for my first betta fish. Thought I knew about the proper keeping of bettas, but after some reading I realized I was misinformed.

While this bowl might be good as a hospital or quarantine, I wouldn't want it as an "everyday" tank. By the time you add a plant, there isn't any room for the fish. Having to do daily water changes (necessary for this size unfiltered tank) is a pain in the rear.

We've since upgraded to a 6.6 gallon.

Buy Marina Betta Habitat - Halfmoon Now

From personal experience as well as from research, I would not keep a Betta in a tank smaller than 3 gallons. Bettas actually don't live their whole lives in small puddles; they live most of their lives in vast rice paddies, thousands of gallons of naturally filtrated and aerated water, and only live in small puddles of water for 2 to 3 months a year during the dry season.

What's more, fancy bettas aren't as hardy as their wild buddies, and need more space and stimulation. This 3 liters (I think that was the measurement, but either way I've seen these sold at stores and they're far too small) is not what I would keep a Betta in forever; maybe a temporary home as I cleaned his tank or maybe while setting up the real one, but that's it.

However, this would look awesome with some plants in it! :-D

Great shape and too bad not a five gallon at least!

45 years experience, background in biology et al and lived in Japan where rice patties are huge systems (and the local rivers are where wild betta's may enter in these systems as well are full of algaes (even the cyanobacteria which works symbiotically with the rice for nitrogen fixing). Wild betters (former reviewer) are tough btw and due to inbreeding for ages now commercially grown ones are not so but none the less their instincts and their psychology demand more space (which means better water quality) just as you could not survive long... as found on a fish forum...

In a cold bathroom, with no room to move, with a toilet that was "cleaned" once in a while (to be determined by outside forces not by your needs) and on occasion bits of dried up solid food you can not recognize metabolically, shoved under the door and labeled "food" UGH.

I am always stunned to see anything under a five actually (better water chemistry esp for beginners, just because they surface breathe (still do through gills btw it is a survival mechanism during drought times not meant for for-ever) does not mean they can do well with amonia (burns delicate multi layered gill tissues OUCH!) and in bacteria laden cold water (or proper temp for that matter and unless you have an expensive small heater you are subject to coming home with cooked fish)...

Betta's tails are a single layer thin and as many find out too later subject to bacterial invasion esp as they languish on the small torture chambers bottom where all the bacteria are brewing.

I am more stunned therefore that in spite of such cups being sold as proper environments for any fish, that any one (who apparently does not do any real research on the subject and this does not mean ask Wahoo! type forums where blind lead the blind) WOULD even consider buying one.

I've done hundreds of betta rescues and it is a horrific way to go.. fish btw have pain receptors just as we do, and some are more sensitive then ours esp around the mouth after all they need this to survive!

Please never put your fish, esp this intelligent, curious, loves to roam and look about lovely fish. They will greatly reward you if you just do some serious research and add plants, and great water quality in a decent sized tank. They are living beings not objects.

Exotic Environments Caribbean Pirate Ship Aquarium Ornament, 6-Inch by 3-1/2-Inch by 5-1/2-Inch

Exotic Environments Caribbean Pirate Ship Aquarium Ornament, 6-Inch by 3-1/2-Inch by 5-1/2-InchThis ship is well made, but when I purchased it, I had hopes that it was large enough for fish to hide in, use for eggs, or even hide behind. But this is not large enough for any of those. The smallest of fish wouldn't even be able to dart in or around this thing. So in that way I am disappointed. But it is a nice ship.

Elite Sponge Filter

Elite Single Sponge FilterI bought several of these to add to tanks where I was having tank-cycling issues (due to lack of a stable bio-media in my HOB filters, I believe). After much research, it seems that many fish enthusiasts insist on added sponge filters for stability. There were actually not many brands that I could find, nor recommendations. I decided to try these in combination with my HOB filters and I am glad I did... I now have no more cycling issues in any tank that has one of these. These are suitable for 10-gallons and up (I do not think that they would fit in a rectangular 5-gallon)... though I would get the double sponge filter for overstocked tanks. As for maintenance, I only have to squeeze out the organic matter from the sponge once a month in the bucket with the siphoned water from the tank during a regular cleaning. I would guess that the sponges will need to be changed at least once a year as they are already much softer than when they were installed.

This is a great bio and mechanical filter for the small tank. You just attach this to your air pump and stick it to the side and you'll get aeration, mechanical and biofiltration. And the suction is strong too, I could literally see debris get sucked into the foam filters.

The only drawback is the noise, it's the noise of air and water exiting the top tube. It's noisy whether you put the outlet above or below the water; it's a little quieter above the water, but still noisy. It's a design flaw to leave an outlet just like that. But if you have a loud environment maybe it won't bother you that much.

I'm planning to put stick a diffuser of some sort on it, it can be as simple as 1/2" tubing with a lot of little holes drilled in it and they should have designed something just like that.

But apart from that it's pretty good, works well and is inexpensive!

Update: I've now stuck a DIY moving bed filter to the outlet end and I'm happy with the noise level now. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this product and the price.

This is a great little sponge filter; I'm using mine in a little 5 gallon and it works great. It does take up about 1/3, maybe 1/4 of the tank, I see this filter more suited to a 10 gallon +. I'm using the double sponge filter for my 20gal tank to supplement my HOB power filter. This is my first sponge filter so the following things I say may be naive or incorrect, however I expected the sponges to pick up more stuff in my goldfish tank. I squeeze out the sponges every week with my water change. my HOB filter is always super dirty, but the sponges don't seem to have much dirt in them, so I'm now cleaning them every other week.

My main gripe, and the reason for the 3 stars, is this thing is LOUD. there is an adjustable upside down L shaped tube that the instructions say to keep half submerged for best results. Due to the construction of the tube, the air creates an annoying whistling sound, whether I keep it half submerged, fully submerged, or out of the water completely. So i'm just not using the tube at all and letting the bubbles come straight up out of the core tube of the filter.

Looking back (and forward) I would probably go with the hydro sponge filters

Waste of money. My tank water was not too bad to begin with, but I thought I would try this with some carbon for the extra polish, instead of buying more Seachem Purigen 250ml (which makes water crystal clear). What a waste of money! From day one this has done nothing to clear my water, in fact it made it worse. It makes my AquaClear power filter stink after a few days (it was not clogged), and after 3 weeks of no results I threw out the filter pad and am not looking back. I have way too much of this stuff left, sitting in the cabinet under my tank, collecting dust. If you can't afford or don't like Purigen, polyester pillow stuffing (a.k.a. "filter floss") works better than this. Would not recommend.

Eheim ECCO Easy 60 External Canister Filter 2234

Eheim ECCO Easy 60 External Canister Filter 2234We use this on a 10 gallon tank full of mollies. Just follow the instructions and there's no problem setting up and running this filter. The priming seems a little unlikely, but if you follow the steps as stated it just fires right up. It took a few minutes to exclude the last of the air but since then has worked fine month after month. This product is listed under several slight variations in name, check out the other reviews, everybody seems to find it a simple, reliable, quiet and effective filter.

This is my first filter and perhaps it is not a bad one for someone who knows what to do with it. I would not recommend it for beginners like myself. Instead of cleaning the water this filter easily becomes a killer and main problem is not user but very badly written user guide. Important steps are not highlighted and that where you can easily overlook important things. Here are the problems I have experienced and I hope my experience will help other people. I have 46 gallon tank and 3 small-medium size goldfish.

1. The manual comes written for 3 different models, and all instructions and references are very confusing. This is a common problem and I do not understand why manufacturers have problems to write a manual for a particular model. Very bad !

2. The canister broke when after a week when I was removing carbon filter as directed. Later I realized it broke because you have to disconnect the hoses and release the pressure created inside the canister. The manual has this step, but it is hard to realize form the whole text this is very important and not doing so may cause problems.

3. Media. The filter comes with black carbon filter pad , white fine filter pad and I also saw some blue pads. What those are and how to properly use them and when to replace is still a challenge for me to understand. here is also another blue foam in pre-filter basket. Buying media in local store could be challenging, so make sure you get some at the time you buy this filter. From my experience white pad should be replaced at least once a month. Carbon is needed when you use medication and apparently you should change pre-filter foam at some unknown point.

4. Water flow. It should indicate when to replace "SubstratPro" or as I call them "filtering stones" or as i discovered it means clogged filter tubing, which gets a lot of grease inside. It is unclear how to clean the tubes, and i use a stick with a paper towel Took 30-40 minutes to get the tubes clean. And this after one month of use considering that I change 30% of water every 2 weeks.

5. Spare parts you were not told about. Eheim recommend to get item No. 72000060 and No.4009550. Do you like this already? Do not worry these are "maintenance spray" and a "round brush". But... I do not think you would be able to get them in the USA.

In two months,

1. I had to deal with a broken part and was never able to get any help form the wholesale distributor located in Canada. They simply do not reply emails and seem do not care about what they sell. I got replacement form the seller. As a result my fish was without a filter for two weeks.

2. My fish got sick twice in two months, both time due to filtering problems I had to learn about the hard way. I spent additional money on medication, had non-scheduled water changes and ugly looking fish. It is definitely not me, since the fish was fine before in smaller tank for 6 months and I have not changed the routine.

Note: I also would like to mention it was not a "new tank" or a "new tank mate" syndromes. For a while between the filtering problem the fish was feeling all right.

Bottom line,

If you are like me, technical and believe in German engineering perhaps give it a try. Otherwise try something else with better manufacturer support and clear maintenance instructions. As for me if it brakes , I will not buy another Eheim product anymore.

Deep Blue Solarmax T5 Light Strip 20in

Deep Blue Solarmax T5 Light Strip 20inThis light worked perfectly with good brightness when first used. I bought 2 of them. The bulbs burned out within 2 weeks in each lamp. I replaced the tubes in each lamp, but they burned out again in each lamp within the next 3 weeks. I don't think I will try again. The tubes are expensive and are difficult to find.

This light seems to work well. I would only use it on nano tanks, though. The whole unit is pretty bulky and thick, but the light its self is a lot shorter than the housing. (there is a good 3 or 4 inches on either side of the bulb.) This makes it best for aquariums with a smaller footprint, IMO.

Buy Deep Blue Solarmax T5 Light Strip 20in Now

The main reason for a 2 star rating is that the description on of this product does not mentioned the length of the bulb itself which is very relevant information to have.

I use this brand's larger fixture for my 60 gallon tank and it's great; the fixture is 48" long and the light bulb is only slightly shorter. But with this version, the fixture is 20" long but the bulb is only 10" which results in my 10 gallon tank being lit in the center with the two sides remaining in the dark. This is a fairly big problem for me since I have live plants in the tank.

The decision for this design is confusing as any tank that isn't 20" long will result in a fairly large piece of equipment hanging of either side. But for tanks that are large enough to fully hold this fixture results in insufficient lighting throughout the tank. And it's not like they needed the extra room for wiring or anything. I took the light apart in the same way you would when replacing the bulb, and the extra space was just about empty with plenty of room to house a 16-18" bulb. Oh well.

As a serious hobbyist with a fish room with breeding setup, I figured I would try this 20" light for a 10 gallon tank as a test to compare this 8w light against the T8 lights and LED lights.

First the form factor. I have 10 gallon tanks using both glass canopy and the black plastic canopy that fits standard T8 lights. Well, this light is ever so slightly too long to snugly fit on top of the glass canopy such that one side is on top of the tank frame and the other side is on the glass top. On the plastic hood, this light just sits on top of the hood rather than sliding into the grooves. Not a good fit either way.

Oh, and it doesn't come with any mounting legs or hanging kit nor can you set it on top of the frame of the 10 gallon tank since it's just long enough to rest on one side, but not the other. Mounting kit is not an option either.

As for the light itself, the bulb is the shorter 10" T5 light @ 10,000K. It gives off more of the blue daylight hue than even the Marineland singlebright LED light. Due to the length of the bulb, the center of the tank is much brighter with light spilling to the sides. In contract, the standard T8 bulb fills the entire tank evenly.

Since I have planted tanks, this poses new challenges in aquascaping. The included bulb didn't last more than a few weeks at 24x7 with constant on cycle. So, I ended up replacing with a 6,500k light bulb which is better for plants and more pleasing to my eyes.

In summary, the light works as advertised but with many short comings as if electricians designed this without any input from the end users.

Since there aren't any other better/cheaper options with T5 at this size, this light is recommended if you're trying to decide between LED. If you have a T8 light, then only get this light if electricity savings with 8w is important enough to justify the physical form factor and light bulb lifespan issues.

Bought the light a little over a month ago, and realized upon opening it that the hood was 20 inches, but the bulb was only 10 inches!. The description was not clear on the size of the bulb. Just a week ago the tiny bulb burnt out... The shortest time that I have had an aquarium light last was 18 months. This product not only shorted me on the size of the bulb, it failed to last as long as most products on the market.

TOM Stellar Air Pump S-30 - 30gal to 40gal tank

TOM Stellar Air Pump S-30 - 30gal to 40gal tankThis S-30 Tom Stellar Air Pump operated quite nicely, and appeared to be doing it's job rather well. However, this thing is loud! Sounds like a compressor, which of course, it is.

I went with the S-20 model, and it's like night and day in the noise department. Same build quality as the S-30 with rubber feet and all.

FYI, apparently, these are an all black model now, not like the current picture on Amazon. They have the STELLAR name vertically printed on the top of the housing in large letters.
