I've had this clock now for quite a few months. It worked right away out of the box, and despite what it looks like in the picture, it has much MUCH more room than a lot of the "betta aquariums" in the pet stores. I've had fish all my life, and have had varying success with betta fish at different times. The fish I bought for this was a more expensive one and to be honest I thought about buying a cheaper one first, just in case. But this fish is the happiest, most active fish I've had. He seems to love all the action he watches in our house (I have three kids) and he follows the minute hand around sometimes too. He makes lots of bubbles at the top (a sign they are happily nest building, right betta experts?) and no fish poo does not float around in the water... the water has stayed remarkably clean we haven't even had algae issue and again despite the picture you don't actually have to fill it all the way to the top, so there is plenty of air. There is also a hole at the top to drop the food through, as well as a bigger hatch that you can open just to feed and clean, or leave open if you're really worried about fresh air/carbon dioxide buildup. We have two other betta fish in a split container I bought at a pet store and frankly they don't seem half as happy or healthy. Neither does the poor little guy at my daughter's preschool. Maybe I'll buy three more Fish Clocks so they're all happier. Also, every single person that has come to our home is tripped out when they realize there is a fish in our clock, all the kids love it, and no one has run screaming to PETA yet. I am using these on two Fluval EBI tanks (along with zoo-med 501 canisters). They work well, but because of their small size they need maintenance weekly. I am using the Fluval edge pre-filters zip tied on the intake of these filters to keep them from sucking up baby crystal shrimp.

Our tank looks beautiful. It is a planted tank with white rocks, blue and green glass discs, red rock hiding places. We just wanted more of backdrop. This bubble wand really did the trick. My only complaint is that at the furthest end if you turn the amount of air down, some of the holes don't let bubbles through. Obviously, you can find cheaper bubble wands out there that probably aerate you water just as well. but this one is unique in that it is bendable and comes with LED's to light the bubbles. I use it in my 10 gallon tank, and my only problem with it is that if you turn the air down power, the bubbles don't disperse evenly across the wand. If I keep the air at full blast, the bubbles look great and disperse perfectly, but it's a bit too powerful for my fish. The LED's are pretty nice, but I only turn them on once in a blue moon really. Item is as advertised, but be very careful you understand how small it really is. I went back and re-read and only then realized they gave the dimensions in centimeters. This machine cleared my 10 gallon tank within 5 days. I turned it off and the water has stayed clear over a week. Before using this, my 6 week old tank had turned green and was hardly getting better despite more partial water changes. At the greenest, one of my two goldfish got sick and died. I know algae generally aren't harmful to fish, so I wonder if there was a bad bacteria also. This machine supposedly also reduces bacteria in the water. Either way, it looked too green. I avoided anti-algae chemical treatments because have live plants. My only complaint is that I can't find anywhere to buy replacement bulbs. The bulb is estimated to last 3-6 months if constantly on, so hopefully if I only have use it occasionally, it should last much longer.When I first received the uv filter, it was missing a part. I thought there would be a hassle getting the part, but customer service went out of their way, sending me an entire new unit, which I received in two days. And instead of having to print out labels and mailing it back, they told me to keep the original one for parts! It is wonderful dealing with a company that goes out of their way for their customers, when so many don't. This is not a suitable turtle habitat. Popular pet turtles, like Red Eared Sliders, require basking docks and light and a UVB bulb, not to mention 10 gallons per inch and powerful filtration. This would only work with modification and frequent water changes. Do not subject a living creature to this environment.
