Hagen Laguna UV Sterilizer/Clarifier 28-Watt, Ponds up to 2000-Gallon
My pond is exactly 1100 gallons and gets full sun for a good part of the day. I have this sterilizer hooked up to a mag pump and have adjusted the output through the sterilizer as reccommended but I still get pea soup water and I run it all day. What bugs me is that this unit replaced my old worn out Laguna Model PT1675 which always gave me crystal clear water for several summers and only had a 25 watt bulb, which I replaced every year or two, compared to this new model which has a 28 watt bulb. I never changed or rearranged a thing since both units use the same identical connectors so it just fit in the same place as the old one.
I didn't trust that little green light that tells you the lamp is working either so when it was pitch black outside you can see a faint glow through one of the connectors so I can tell the lamp is lit. I can't figure why this unit does so poorly since the water flow through the unit is the same as what it was in the old.
I'm wondering if the bulb is a true 28 watt and not somehow working much lower. If anyone figures this out let me know but I wish I bought another PT1675.
BTW, be careful when removing the unit for cleaning since the directions that tell you to turn the one fitting is backwards. The arrow should point the other direction which was confirmed by Laguna.I have work hard to keep a clear pond but it kept going green on me. Now I have a clear (no Green water) pond and the plants are growing unlike when I tried chemicals. Best money spent.

bought this unit about a month ago.I have a 1500 gal. pond that was pea green with algae.ran unit 5 days continous.now i can see bottom of pond. wonder if UVA kills beneficial bacteria that converts fish waste to nitrogen? time will tell if unit holds up.one thing to considerall the dead algae stops up the filter and must be cleaned daily. i now run my pump and uv 16 hrs a day.and clean filter media each week.Want Hagen Laguna UV Sterilizer/Clarifier 28-Watt, Ponds up to 2000-Gallon Discount?

i absolutely love this. I was a little darker than the picture which i was hoping for and it fits great in my 55 gallon aquarium. Would recommend to anyone!!The colors aren't near as bright as I thought they would be, kinda disappointing! You Get what you pay for..I did not know at the time I bought it that it is a corner piece the back is flat and it is shaped for a corner. I love it though it is bright and whimsical!Odyssea 24" T5 HO Aquarium Light Dual Fluorescent Hood Fixture - Plant 2x24W

This will be the 3rd time I have been ask to write a review for this product.I give it a ZERO, due to the company has mis-information about this produce.
It does not fit a 24 inch fisk tank, I will repeat myself:::: IT DOES NOT FIT A 24 INCH TANK..........
Exotic Environments Log Cavern with Plants Aquarium Ornament
I did find one or two sharp edges inside the log that might cause an abrasion, but they are easily smoothed. Now, you don't have to worry about trying to anchor down artificial plants or trying to grow live plants that your fish keep uprooting. In general, I am very pleased with this product. A few of the plants look a little less realistic than I would've liked, but not enough to detract from the rating, mainly because if you're buying this thing, you're accepting the fact that you're gonna have fake plants.
The log itself is painted with a very high attention to detail and looks great. The rock/sand base also looks great. The inside of the log isn't quite as nice, but it'll be dark anyway in a lighted tank and so you'll probably barely see it.
I suppose cleaning the gravel under the log could be an issue (it has an open bottom, which I like); not really a problem if you have cleaner shrimp.
The main reason why this decoration gets 5 stars despite a few flaws is that it's an excellent hiding place for fish and other aquarium inhabitants (such as shrimp). The 2 plants strategically placed at each opening of the log make sure big fish can't get in, but more importantly they make your smaller inhabitants feel secure (even if there aren't actually any big fish to be afraid of, as in my tank). Whether or not your fish or shrimp actually "need" a hiding spot, having one as good as this will make them significantly less stressed and more happy.
Considering the shipping, it's a reasonable price as well.
NOTE: There could be a few strands/strings of glue hanging off of it when you buy it new, make sure you pull these off before putting it in your tank.

I really liked this when I opened the package. It's a really nice foreground decoration. My sucker fish really likes taking naps in it during the day. It's constructed of high quality materials and looks better when put in the tank.Read Best Reviews of Exotic Environments Log Cavern with Plants Aquarium Ornament Here
This decoration came quickly and looked like the picture above. The only problem would be the plants are stiff, especially the end ones, but they make it a nice "cave" like feel I guess, my cherry barbs like exploring it so far!Want Exotic Environments Log Cavern with Plants Aquarium Ornament Discount?
I have this and several other pieces that are realistic like this. My cichlids just love this piece and after fighting over it has settled to one of the stronger fish in the tank. It is reasonably realistic looking and the plants look good on it too. It really adds a nice cave option for your fish that like caves.Blue Ribbon Pet Products Exotic Environments Super Sized Sunken Sub Aquarium Ornament, 22-Inch

Fluval Moss Ball
ON THE UPSWING-
My Betta Fish is constantly entertained by this. As I did not squeeze the ball to get all of the air out it floats, so it helps relieve boredom, and he likes to sort of lay on it like they will do in nature, on leaves and other soft flotsam.
It seems to collect some of his food, which I think he enjoys also as he like to come and peck on it and see if he can find any loose goodies. All in all if for no other reason than a good activity item for Betta fish , its a not so bad fake ball of fur!I ordered four of these for my 55gallon tank. They are pretty cool, i really didn't know if they were real of not when i bought them but they are fake. Its a great thing for me since i hate the real ones. They always broke up and got into my filter. These ones have i think carbon inside them and the green stuff feels like hair into you get them wet. They look real after your rinse them down. You got to put them in water and squeeze the ball to get all the air out so it doesn't float. Overall i am happy, and will by 4-5 more in the next few weeks.i was constantly changing the yucky water in my turtle tank until i bought a moss ball and dropped it in. it has been a week and the water is crystal clear. i am not for sure of how long it works or if i need to do anything to it but for right now i am so impressed. (i really wish when things came pre-packaged, the instructions were not written in nu-readable micro print.)

When I first got this, I didn't really think it'd made a difference, but it definitely does!I have some in my 29 gallon planted tank with fish, and they love it! My gourami loves to pick at it and move it around the tank, and the cory cats like to hide under it. It really does make a quality in water clarity, tooI have a Fluval 205 in my aquarium and it has made the water eve clearer, which I didn't think was possible.
I also have one of these in my 1 gallon breeding tankI have seven Platty fry in there now, all about a quarter inch longand they like to hide in/around it. It also helps keep the water fresher longer, so I don't have to do a ton of water changes every day.
I have been keeping aquariums for around 15 years, and will definitely add this to my regular tank regimenI love them!I have a small, pretty new aquarium with goldfish. Within a few days the water became very cloudy and unappealing to say the least. I skeptically ordered this funny looking little ball, which I discovered totally by accident. When it arrived I got it wet (thanks to the other reviewers), it sank to the bottom and there it sat. Next day, expecting an overnight miracle, I was very disappointed, water still very cloudy. Second day, water cloudy. I began to think "rip off" and who are these people that think this thing works. Third day, to my amazement, the water was much more clear. Fourth day, even clearer. Now the water is back to where I began when I sat the tank up. I'm pleased and I do recommend this. It worked for me. But do give it a few days before passing judgment.
TOM Aquarium Maintenance Mr. Cleaner Battery Operated Gravel Siphon
This was tested out on a 20 gallon long bare-bottom tank with tons of detritus that my siphon never seemed to remove. At first, the thing takes a little help to get suction. I had to tilt it over into the water right up to the "Water Line" indication. Once I had the water level to where it had suction, I began to move the gravel washer head around. It seemed to pick up better when the detritus was already afloat not laying on the bottom of the tank.
I was not too terribly impressed with the suction UNTIL I removed the gravel washer head. It is totally unnecessary and decreases the efficiency of this vacuum. I had to stop to rinse the net out twice, and to fiddle with the impeller to remove dead snail shells. (puffer tank) To avoid pulling things into the impeller I placed a brine shrimp net over the intake pipe. This also helped me "steer" the intake pipe around the tank because the vacuum is a little oddly balanced.
Be aware that this does not put the water back into the tank internally. Water is pulled up through the pipe, towards the impeller, and into the waste collection net, then back into the tank on the OUTSIDE of the pipe it just went up. You will have to pay attention so that you don't move the vacuum too close to the edge of your tank thus holding the collection net over the edge of your tank and siphoning sediment free water onto your floor.
****mine came with an algae scraper head, which I have yet to use
****mine came with a hose adapter, for use in siphoning water, which I have not used
In summary for $16 this product did great (without the gravel washer head)This vacuum is the best thing since sliced bread. It goes together easily, has great pick-up suction, the tubing is long enough to reach the back corners of a 20 inch tall tank and does not lose power. The on/off switch at the top if convenent and easy to get to. I have dropped the entire vaccum in the tank, dried off the batteries and continued cleaning.
The only issue this vacuum has is the "sock" for catching debris. I replaced that with a knee-high nylon, you know the womens sock for pants and dress shoes, held it on with a rubber band and clean without debris that someone else complained of.
This vacuum makes tank maintenance so easy and I tend to "tidy up" almost daily. Thank you Tom Aquarium Supply and give a raise to whoever came up with this idea.

This device actually has decent suction. It had no problem picking up all the debris off the bottom of my fish tank and depositing them in to the 'sock'. But unfortunately the fine particles of debris blew right through the cloth sock and back into the water. After a minute of vacuuming, my whole fish tank was clouded. The debris in my tank consisted of mostly goldfish poo, which tends to break apart easily. If you are picking up courser debris, it might work better, but I feel that the 'sock' filter bag really does not provide adequate filtration. Not recommended.Read Best Reviews of TOM Aquarium Maintenance Mr. Cleaner Battery Operated Gravel Siphon Here
The company that I purchased this from, Strictly Pet Supplies, sent the item very quickly and it was packaged well as well. The siphon works great and is easy to use. When it touches the bottom it won't pick up the aquatic soil or rocks, but it will pick up all the crap and fish excriment that has accumulated there. The tube has an adjustable length so I can use it in my tall and short aquariums. You can also purchase replacement filter bags.
Some other reviewers on other sites complained that the item is fragile and can break. This is true. Some parts looks like they're made from thin plastic and can break if you drop it. But its not the manufacturers fault, you just have to be careful when using it.

Hi Guys,I created a video review of this vacuum, which also addresses its low suction problem. Amazon has pretty useless rules for video reviews, like only 10 mins, only 100mb etc. My video could not fit in those requirements, so I have uploaded it at [youtube . com /watch? v=lDpJ-RBGMQc] (copy paste the link in your browser address bar and delete all the spaces) Or if amazon replaced this link with [..] then just do a google search for "TOM Mr. Cleaner Battery Powered Gravel Vacuum Video Review". The video will hopefully be the first link.
I took off one star from the review because I had to do a little quick trick to make it work better and its on/off button cap is faulty. Other than that, with the trick I have shown in the video, this would do really perfect job of cleaning your aquarium.
For all those buyers, who are confused about the mixed reviews, I would request them to watch this video, you can actually see the vacuum in action and see how much suction it has got. You can then easily decide whether to buy or not.
Nice purchase for my aquarium, I am happy with it.
Update 18 Jan 2012: I use AA batteries like I've shown in the video. And one full charge of these 2000mAh batteries goes for more than 8 to 10 vacuums of over 10 min each, which I think is really great. And I have upgraded it from 4 star to 5 star as its a great device and I am not bothered by its button as I am used to it now.
Midwest Tropical 675 Square Aquarium Coffee Table
The acrylic tank is square but once filled with water the sides protrude outwards, losing its shape, making it look much less square than when there is no water in it. Having a glass tank would have solved this problem. Also the acrylic is very vulnerable to scratches. When removing the rocks to clean it you must be VERY careful. If you scratch the sides of the tank, it will look cloudy and visibility will be permanently decreased. Had it been glass, this wouldn't have been a problem.
Another thing, you must not use a heater otherwise the entire top will be foggy and you will not be able to see inside the tank. If you aerate the water or cause motion in the water, you will find condensation underneath the glass top and it will bubble up and start dripping into the tank again. If you use the included carbon filter you will also have a cord running across the room to the nearest outlet. A light fits discreetly underneath the tank and the rocks do a good job of dispersing the light quite evenly, however you've got another cord. There is about a 6" opening in the center of one of the black bottomed sides to easily slide in the light and remove it when necessary. The glass top is well made.
Overall it's a beautiful piece, but it doesn't work for everyone. This product improved my life vastly. Before purchasing the Midwest Tropical 675 Square Aquarium Coffee Table, I had serious problems melding my twin love of coffee tables and fish. Like most men, I tried making a coffee table out of a taxidermied Mahi-Mahi, and like most men I failed.
