Finnex Resin 3-Piece Driftwood Replica for Aquarium, Small

Finnex Resin 3-Piece Driftwood Replica for Aquarium, Smallit is made of plastic and seems cheaply made

the thing i like least about it is the small frog and stuff on them i wanted it to look more realistic and these look very fake

I wasn't 100% sure how big they would be as they were listed as small but they are a nice size for a 3pc set. I added them to a 29 gallon aquarium and the size works nice as a floor ground piece. The colors are nice and they look realistic. The only thing I dislike about them are the little green frogs that are on 2 of the pieces.

Aquarium Fish Tank Silicone Sea Anemone Ornament SH189 whiteI like the priicng, and it looks nice on the picture against the black background, but it looks pretty fake in the tank, and just looked blah to us. I would not buy this again.

i love this for my fish tank! the fronds or stems move with the water, and look very cool!/nice...a bigger size than i wasexpecting which is nice and there is a good substantial base for these that will stay submerged without being an eyesore at the same time...high quality and fast shipping! I recommend this!

This item smells toxic. I returned it without putting it in my aquarium. I kept a similar product I purchased from the same company that smelled just as bad and I did everything I could to remove the smell. Soaked it in a bucket for days, ran it through the dishwasher, scrubbed it with Dawn. Nothing helped. I finally put it in a closet. I've had it for over a month and there is no reduction in smell. I don't believe there will ever be time when the smell of the material goes away.

This fake anemone was sold to me by Given-Arts, which is a good seller, and I know that some of their products are great. The cush-ball style fake anemones they sell do not smell bad and are tank safe so don't write them off entirely. I put one in my tank and it didn't hurt the fish. Given-Arts refunded my money promptly for the bad smelling item but refused to pay shipping since they insisted their products are safe for fish and I don't have proof they are not. The customer service was responsive and friendly.

PondCare Summer Staple Pellet Fish Food, 15-Pound

PondCare Summer Staple Pellet Fish Food, 15-PoundPond Care Summer Staple Food is the best fish food for my pond fish...........was always buying it at a local store in a less than a lb. bag.................couldn't believe the savings by buying it in a 15 lb bag............a saving of more than $200.

no wonder the local stores only sell it in the smaller quanities............this is my second year of buying on Amazon and will continue to buy both my summer and autumn food..........great value and service was 5 star.............

We have about 30 large goldfish in our outdoor pond. Before using this food we were plagued with lack of interest in the food and frequent filter cleans due to sludge buildup. With this product (and the fall/spring companion), the fish go for the food as soon as it hits the water and the pond clarity is great. Economy of the 15 pound bag can't be beat. Questions to the home site of PondCare also receive prompt and informative replies. Good company, good product.

Ecoxotic PAR38 LED Aquarium Lamp, 12000K

Ecoxotic PAR38 LED Aquarium Lamp, 12000KI've been running it for about a month now and the light is great. I installed track lighting above my tank and use this bulb to put the light where I need it. Birdsnest coral (Seriatopora hystrix) that I have under it is showing good growth as is the Red Gonipora I have under it. Excellent way to get light where you need it. The spread on it isn't huge so if you want to use these exclusively for your tank lighting you'll need a few, I'd say one for 8-12 inches of tank length or so.

I have a 6 gallon saltwater nano tank so this may be overkill but I love it. I bought a clip on desk lamp from target for like $10 bucks and I modified it to hang off my ceiling like a pendant light. Colors and shimmer are beautiful!

Jardin Aquarium Fish Tank Biochemical Filter Sponge Pad, WhiteThis is a great product. It's really cost effective and it's easy to use. Just cut to the size you want and you're done! Keeps my aquarium nice & clean and can be rinsed and used again several times before changing.

Should have read the description better for the dimensions. I need something very large to filter 500 gallons of water at a fast rate.

These pads are very good, use for my canister filters to catch extra waste debris for my fish tank, works great, could be a little more compacted, but for price it is just fine, figure it should last 2 to 3 filter cleanings before being replaced, can be cut into 4 or 5 pieces for filter, so should last a while, I'm satisfied, but there are better for more money.

Aquatic Fundamentals 20/29/37 Gallon Aquarium Stand with Shelf

Aquatic Fundamentals 20/29/37 Gallon Aquarium Stand with ShelfThis aquarium stand works well. The construction is study enough for a 29 gallon aquarium and some books on the shelves. Very simple design, which I like.

Very well made and sturdy tank stand; I'm very impressed, specially for the price! Assembling it took about ten minutes tops, and was extremely simple.

I used it for my 25 gallon Aqueon 24" on the top shelf and also set my 3 gallon nano tank on the middle shelf with no problems so far! I couldn't be happier, and will buy again from the seller.

Potential buyer should note that the screws that hold the legs of the tank protrude on the top shelf , and might damage the bottom of a tank that is set on it. Likewise, the stand is NOT waterproof, mine bubbled up with in minutes of water being spilled on it!

I like the open shelves, and it's sturdy enough to hold my ten gallon tank.

It is a bit wobbly, but this shouldn't be a concern at all if you don't have kids or aren't pushing up against it. Also, there are four screws that pop out a bit on the top shelf, for the tank, but I placed a towel between the tank and the shelf and it's covered up.

Good value, does its job.

Aquarium Gravel Cleaner Syphon Siphon Vacuum Fish Tank

Aquarium Gravel Cleaner Syphon Siphon Vacuum Fish TankI bought this because I wanted to clean my little 10 gallon aquarium. I've used it twice now, and while it added water very well, I did not find it at all satisfactory in siphoning out to clean the gravel. And by the way, I am an experienced aquarium owner. Since the main thing I wanted it for was cleaning, it was a disappointment to me. Hence, 2 stars.

Coralife Aqualight High Output T5 Dual Lamp Fixture

Coralife 08600 Aqualight High Output T5 Dual Lamp Fixture, 24-InchI would be very careful about purchasing a Coralife light fixture. I had a very poor experience, and my search on the web suggests others have had a similar experience. The fixtures are relatively inexpensive, and you appear to get what you pay for. The heart of a fluorescent fixture is the ballast. Mine only lasted 6 months. I run the light 10 hours a day so that means the unit failed after only 1800 hours of use. I would recommend looking at other manufacturers. Details about my experience follow.

In March 2010, I purchased a Coralife 48-inch dual T5 lamp high output fixture for my 60-gallon freshwater aquarium. The unit arrived and seemed satisfactory, although the directions could have been better. After assembling the fixture, I found that it worked satisfactorily until the middle of this month (October, 2010, it was off the entire month of September). In October, I found that when I turned on the light on in the morning, the ends of the light bulbs near the power cord would glow dimly, but would not turn on right away. If I waited for a minute or two, the bulbs would finally turn on. After a few days, however, the bulbs would not ignite at all, so I thought maybe I needed to replace the bulbs. I purchased two new bulbs and installed them. This seemed to fix the problem, and the bulbs would now

turn on when the switch was turned on. After one day, however, I noticed that the bulbs were flickering. I turned the unit off and then on and that seemed to fix the problem. A few hours later when I entered the room I found the aquarium light was off. I checked the plug and the bulbs to make sure they were properly seated in the end caps. Both the plug and the bulb installation were OK. I tried plugging the unit into another plug. Nothing worked. I began to worry that the problem was the ballast. I contacted the seller who informed me that they only had a 60-day warranty on their products.

I went to the web and began researching this. I found that the Coralife light fixtures have a bad reputation for failing. There were many complaints about ballast problems. Some of the more advanced aquarists recommended replacing the ballast with a Fulham Workhorse 5 ballast that they claimed was more robust than the ballast in the Coralite. I went to the web and found a bewildering array of ballasts. I went to my local aquarium store and was told that ballasts were not available for this light.

In the end, after hours of wasted time, I bought an AquaticLife T5 HO Dual Lamp fixture. My initial impression of this unit is that it is higher quality than the Coralife fixture. The directions for assembly were quite good and came on a CD. We will see how it performs.

Hi I ordered this Coralife T5 HO 30" Light Fixture for my planted tank and it arrived with one of the light bulbs broken, so I send it back for a replacement. The replacement light arrived on Monday April 30, 2012 good and working great. To bad it didn't last long, I come home one day (May 4, 2012) to notice my aquarium all lit in blue, the 10,000K Daylight bulb has dimmed dramatically {this 10,000K bulb didn't even last a week)to a point where only the Actinic Bluelight bulb is all that lights up the aquarium. So I went on ahead and purchased the 6,700K daylight bulb to replace the Actinic Bluelight Bulb and another 10,000K Daylight Bulb to replace the burnt one. Once these new bulbs arrive I'll replace them and hope that all ends well from there. I'm hoping that the ballast in the light fixture aren't malfunctioning...if that's the case I'll have to ask for another replacement.

Will "update" once my replacement bulbs arrive.

I bought 5 of these of various sizes when they were on sale last year. Of these, only 2 are functioning. One had a bad switch that went out in a month, the other two just ceased to function. They're built to be disposable there's no way to get into the housing to fix the wiring or the switches. A total waste of money.

High quality product. I love the plexiglass spashguard, especially with my open-top tank. I have a fully-planted high-tech 75 gal setup, and while my plants are growing and happy, they aren't pearling. If you just dose Flourish Excel or don't have many plants, this would work great for you. If you inject carbon and have a lot of plants competing for light, either buy 2 of this product or go with T5 HO light setup with 3 or 4 bulbs.

biOrb Cleaner Pump

biOrb Cleaner PumpThis is my first aquarium cleaner since I'm new to the hobby. I didn't like the idea of putting my mouth on a hose, so I thought I'd give this pump-action one a try. It was easy to use and did the job well. It took only a few pumps to get the water flowing out of the tank and into a bucket, and it seemed to do a good job of cleaning the gravel as well. I used it on a 10-gallon tank made by another company. I would recommend this item.

This pump takes a few good, hard squeezes to get it going, but then it works quickly. Good suctioning of the fish doo-doo and surprised me how fast my tanks emptied. I had to be real careful on the 1 gallon one!

Buy biOrb Cleaner Pump Now

I used to have a regular siphon to clean my tank and I had a hard time getting it to start at first (I had to learn how to use it through a few YouTube videos). But this siphon makes it SUPER easy! All you have to is pump it a few times and it starts! And honestly, I HATE cleaning my aquarium...but now I don't mind anymore!

I bought mine from amazon, not the seller that has his fulfilled by amazon so I did receive a genuine item. I wanted to use this to clean the gravel on my 2.5 gallon tank but unfortunately it sucks the water so fast that it quickly drains the aquarium. If I had a larger tank, ie. 10 gallon and above, I think it would be fine, but doing close to a 80-90% water change just ends up stressing the fish. Also I wish this came with some better instructions as well.

Want biOrb Cleaner Pump Discount?

I bought this to use on a regular 10 gallon (non-BiOrb) tank. It's a lot easier than my old gravel vacuum to get the water started. I also bought a 5 gallon bucket at Walmart to use with this cleaner. I just siphon the water into the bucket right below, which makes cleaning a piece of cake. Then, I re-use the water by watering my plants and trees outside because I figure there should be some nutrients in it (I could be totally wrong though, never researched it).

It's definitely not as powerful as my old standard gravel vacuum. This is mainly because there is a plastic "net" on the gravel end which prevents gravel from entering the tube. The problem I have is that the gravel sticks to the net when water is flowing and obstructs the hole for the nasty stuff to go in. I just have to shake the hose a lot to make the gravel fall off the pump. Overall, this pump does a pretty good job and is very easy to use.

Marineland PA0401 Aqua-Timer with 24-hr Cycle, Grounded

Marineland PA0401 Aqua-Timer with 24-hr Cycle, GroundedI was using these timers to control my 9W UV sterilizer and T5 HO lights. The timer with the UV sterilizer caught fire. I have posted some pictures in the customer image section. I am really fortunate that my house did not burned down due to this incident. But there was soot everywhere and it took us hours to clean this up. And the burned plastic smell lingered around the house for days. And my poor wife, who did most of the cleaning, complained of sore throat for couple of days. When I contacted Marineland about this incident, they told me that they would gladly replace the timers but nothing more. You have to be kidding me. If you decide to buy one of these, make sure you have at least a smoke detector near the fish tank.

I have just started to use this timer, and I see from some of the reviews that there is a quality control issue that is possibly a problem. I will report later on it after I have used it awhile. But first impressions out of the box are a full 5 stars. I will also say that am I not using it for an aquarium purpose, but instead to run a fractional horsepower domestic hot water circulating pump in my house. The three pronged grounded outlet, and relatively high amperage rating of 15 amps enables this device to be used for a much greater load than aquarium lights, so with the excellent design of the face and plug-in receptacles, I decided to use it for my hot water circulator.

I was first impressed with the layout of the plugs and timer face. It is very well thought out and the timer can be inserted into an electrical outlet without encroaching on the other outlets. The next feature that I appreciated was the use of highly visible black markings with a very crisp font against a white face. This makes reading and setting the timer the easiest I have ever encountered. The "time of day" indicator is a bold black triangle which is highly visible. In addition to clearly showing the times of day on the universal 0-24 scale, it also shows the night time hours as shaded for additional clarity, and has a large directional arrow to tell you which way the dial is rotating. This, and the time of day marker, are visible on the face of the dial from some distance.

Time increments are 15 minutes, and are set on or off by depressing small gray tangs which are located around the rotating clock face. The tangs are very easy to set with a pointed object like a pen, and have a large range of movement when depressed, so again, very easy to see what times you have selected. With the 15 minute interval between tangs, you could conceivably have many on-off cycles per day (one every 15 minutes), or as few as 2, or none. It also has a manual override switch on the top, which enables the user to bypass the clock feature and have it always "on".

Which brings me to the only thing so far that I do not like about this timer the marking on the manual override switch on the top. The switch slides between the right and the left, and when moved to the right it reveals a symbol of clock, and to the left a symbol of solid black line (presumably for a completed circuit to be always on). But when the switch is moved to the right and the clock symbol is displayed, the timer is actually on a manual "always on" setting. To the left with the continuous line displayed, the timer operates on the time clock. So the markings are exactly opposite from what the user would expect. I will fix this by marking the sliding switch with a permanent marker to indicate which state it is in.

The timer has a UL stamp, which means is has undergone strict testing in a lab for electrical safety, but of course this is no absolute guarantee against poor quality control from the manufacturer.

On balance, and for the price, I would highly recommend this product.

UPDATE, June 3, 2011: The timer has now been in use for some time now, and has performed flawlessly. No problems to report, and the above review comments still stand.

UPDATE, February 12, 2012: No problems, review comments still stand.

I needed a timer for the light above my turtle's aquarium and I'm glad I chose this one. It has the fittings for a three-pronged plug, unlike other timers I've seen. It works great and it's silent. In fact, I thought it was broken at first because it didn't make any noise. Lastly, it doesn't block the other plug, unlike other timers I've seen.

I had this crappy timer for one day. It worked just fine for the first day, then the next it ended up blowing out my aquarium light (the aquarium was a brand new setup.) And, the timer stopped working the second day.

The directions are confusing and it is not a well made product. Do yourself a favor and buy a Brinks timer instead.

Want Marineland PA0401 Aqua-Timer with 24-hr Cycle, Grounded Discount?

My experience could be a rare one, but each of the four timers I bought constantly shut off. These timers work with pressure switches instead of toggle switches, so there must be constant pressure on the switch to engage the electricity and turn on the light/pump/whatever. On the center rotating piece, there are little pins, each indicating 15 minutes of "on" time when they are pushed down. In my situation, each of the pins that I pushed down wiggled a lot. They all did this, so I thought nothing of it. Anyway... as the timer ran, and the center timer rotated, rubbing the 'engaged' (pushed down) pins it somehow wiggled the pins apart just enough to disengage and turn my light off. EVERY 15 MINUTES! It would eventually turn itself back on, but only after about 10 minutes, and after about 15 more minutes, it would do it again for ten minutes. It keeps time well, which is unusual for inexpensive timers, but it just wouldn't stay on for me. I will be returning and expect a full refund (as is consistent with Amazon return service).

Zilla Alfalfa Meal

Zilla 11604 Alfalfa Meal, 15-Pound BagThis item was meant to be used as bedding for a bearded dragon. I opened the bag up and poured a good layer into my cage. Then I noticed that it was full of insects. It was not stored properly and was infested with at least 5 different species. I will never buy this stuff from here again. I suggest going to your local feed store and buying alfalfa pellets meant as animal feed. They are much cheaper and you get a lot more.

I'm using this Zilla Alfalfa Meal in a 70/30 mix with Zoo Med's Eco Earth for my juvenile Chinese Water Dragon. I was using a reptile bark and he would always eat bits of the bark which made me really nervous! I've switched to this and it's working out great! 70% Eco Earth and 30% Alfalfa Meal pellets. It gives a bit of texture to the substrate instead of having just loose soil, and if he happens to eat it, it's no big deal. Whew, what a relief! I will say that one drawback to this is the strong farm/field odor it has. It seems much stronger in the bag but when mixed with the loose Eco Earth in the tank I don't notice the smell much at all. Overall, I'm very, very happy! I think I've finally found my perfect susbstrate.

I was looking for some bedding that I could use for my iguana because he invariably ends up consuming a little of the bedding along with his veggies. Since this is nothing more than pelletized alfalfa it makes the perfect bedding because it's really absorbent AND fully digestible when he happens to get a few of the pellets in his mouth along with the leafy greens. One extra benefit is that I can use it in my raised bed garden to add some extra nitrogen for my corn (nitrogen HOG). I've never grown better corn then what I did when I started side dressing it with this. Short of just letting my iguana run around pooping in my corn patch, this stuff is fantastic!

This product arrived quickly and in fine shape. It is shipped in a shallow box containing the pellets in a plastic bag. When the bag is opened, the product does give the odor of hay fields, which was expected and acceptable. (To me that signals fresh.) It serves my purposes wonderfully.

I wanted to make my lawn look better, and I was going to hire a service since I don't know a thing about grass care. After a little reading I discovered that the chemical lawn companies are in the business of turning your lawn into a crack head for their products, which kill your soil and make your lawn dependent on chemicals to survive.

So, I decided to go the organic route. I am "mowing high", leaving the grass at 3.5 inches or longer, and adding organic material to the lawn. I mixed up a batch of this alfalfa meal, a couple of buckets of compost my neighbor generously gave me, two pounds of greensand, and two pounds of lime for my less-than-1000-square foot lawn and threw it around with a trowel. Then I forced my teenager to pull the dandelions, and that was it. Not very scientific, and I didn't really expect much.

However...

My lawn is now the envy of my block. Seriously. I still have a few weeds and some small bare spots, but the grass is SO green, and thick, and healthy, it almost looks like I had sod put in. It cost around 35 bucks and the aggravation of getting my kid to pull weeds once. Win! I could probably get the alfalfa cheaper but the depth and breadth of my laziness is as yet unplumbed...I could not resist getting it delivered.

If you want a nice lawn but don't want to pay a lot of money for someone to pour chemicals and poisons around your house, google "organic lawn care". You don't have to use alfalfa, but it seems to have worked out well for me.

Mardel BMD66502 Mardel Clip Designed for AquariumWe use these every day to attach various treats to our tiel's cage. Today it was a sprig of broccoli, tomorrow it may be a bit of millet spray or some spinach leaves. Our bird loves to find out what's waiting for her on the clip. Good for providing a little interest and variety for the bird. Also good that it keeps the food from falling down and getting lost through the bottom grate of the cage.

Filter-Max III Prefilter

Filter-Max III PrefilterWe have breeding albino catfish in a 15 gallon show tank. This works perfect to save the tiny babies from being sucked up the filter. It also saves the frequent Whisper Biobag filters changes. I wish we knew about this many years ago!

As far as its size. It is large-about 4" long and nearly 2" diameter. You can install it vertically or horizontally, which is convenient. It's easy to put on intake tube with several adaptor connections. I planted a few artificial plants around to hide the filter. So far so good!

I bought this to keep baby guppies and cherry shrimp from getting sucked up into the uptake of a fairly powerful canister filter. It has worked very well so far, but it is not quite perfect.

I wish the adapter did not have two 90 degree bends in it. This is not great for fluid dynamics, and it also just seems unnecessary why can't you just put the sponge straight on the tube?

Another problem with the adapter is that it leaves small holes around the edge of where the adapter covers the center of the sponge. A wee baby guppy or a baby shrimp could get sucked up in those holes. It would be nice if it fit better.

I have had to rub the sides of the sponge once in a while to loosen up the debris and let the water pass better. Its not a big deal, and not a flaw in the sponge, but something to be aware of. You dont want to make your filter pump work any harder than it has to.

Overall, its a perfectly good pre-filter, and I am planning on buying another one soon.

This pre-filter is a must if you raise fry or shrimp. I use them on a Aquaclear 70 and they do excellent both as a pre-filter and a guard to keep the shrimp from becoming pate.
