Design Elements Cypress Root Aquarium Ornament

Design Elements Cypress Root Aquarium OrnamentThe hole was big enough that a Convict Cichlid freaked out when we were adding water, swam into it, and died in the process of our attempts to remove him.

It doesn't serve as a hiding place (which is why it was bought) and it kinda is so what. It's heavy enough that only the Oscar can move it at least. No word on the stinking.

It look really natural when you put it on the aquarium, but you will need a natural root to increse the pH of your water

Finnex 300-Watt Hang-On Digital Controller Aquarium Heater, Titanium Tube, 80 to 100-Gallon

Finnex 300-Watt Hang-On Digital Controller Aquarium Heater, Titanium Tube, 80 to 100-GallonThis was working fine for two years, then yesterday while I was gone I get an email from my Apex telling me the aquarium temperature was below my threshold. Turns out the heater was 'on', but the heating element no longer gets hot. Had to throw away and get another one. Done with Finnex.

purchased two 300W for a 150g reef tank. Had a pair of Marineland Steath heater in there for two years and it blew apart. One of the 300W HMO works fine, the second one would not heat up. Open the control box and found one of the leg of the SCR not solder on the board. Re-solder and it is working OK now. Seem like no QC took place.

To my horror, I came home last night to a 96-degree reef tank. The heater failed in the on position. I lost 1 fish and all my corals. Just got done scrubbing the dead stuff off my live rock. My suggestion is to think twice about purchasing this one.

Finnex HMO 300 Watt w/ Memorized Digital Controller Aquarium Titanium Heater (80 100 Gallons) My Finnex HMO 300 Watt Titanium Heater was inaccurate and seemed to me to be unreliable. The Finnex registered 77 deg. F, which was > 2 deg. higher than the 3 thermometers in my tank. Those 3 agreed among themselves within 0.2 deg. F. The heater responded poorly, or not at all, to my efforts to raise the temperature in the tank. I did not want to risk using the Finnex Titanium in my tank and discarded it. I have a 75 gal tank with two Eheim filters (with no filter heating elements). I had removed the two other heaters from my tank. I have had tropical fish tanks since the early 1940s.

This heater is Terrible! I don't even want to give it one start but you cant give it negative stars.

I bought 2 of these. 1 for my 46 gallon tank and one for my 72.

In both cases the electronics where you change the temperature malfunctioned.

In one case it was not dangerous. The first case it just stopped showing the temperature. I could not tell if it was working since there is no light on the heater itself the only way I could tell if the heater was working was the press the up or down button and wait and see if my temperature went up or down. I did not want to Cook or Freeze my fish so I tossed that one out.

Yesterday the 2nd one malfunctioned and it could have been bad if I had not been at home.

I was in the kitchen cooking when I head a loud POP then a hiss from the fish tank. As I got closer to the tank I got a faint smell of smoke. Further investigation lead me to the heater and once again the plastic device used to turn the temperature up or down. The numbers burnt out again but this time it was very hot. I unplugged it. When I put it to my nose I could smell burnt electronics.

I originally wanted to buy the JBJ true temp 300W but I cheeped out. I will not make the same mistake twice!

Coralife Actinic T-5 High Output Fluorescent Lamp

Coralife 80407 Actinic T-5 High Output Fluorescent Lamp, 24-WattI only gave it 3 stars because its not your typical actinic blue, its more purple than anything. We will see how my coral react to it but I do not like the way everything looks under this color.

This is a great bulb for the T-5 light fixture. The light is bright and the corals look buestiful under them.

I have had my aquarium for less than one year. The hood requires two of these lamps. I have one that has lasted the other has been replaced 2 times.

I can't say anything about the bulb. It was powder by the time it got to me, and I was amazed at the poor packing. At least the return was easy. I would advise looking elsewhere.

I paid $3.99 for next day delivery and I ordered this on Thursday 1/12. It was supposed to be here on 1/13. The UPS tracking memos say that it has been in Houston (where I live) since yesterday the 13th and I still haven't gotten the product. I ordered this with next day shipping because I have corals sitting in my aquarium that NEED this lighting. A power surge ruined the ones I have, and I couldn't find a store in town that had what I need in stock. I spend a lot of money on Amazon and this is the first issue I've had since I started shopping with your company. I want my $3.99 back, and I want the product I purchased. Don't charge someone for next day shipping if you can't guarantee that the product will be there THE NEXT DAY.

Kordon/Oasis (Novalek) AKD37656 Rid Ich for Aquarium, 16-Ounce

Kordon/Oasis AKD37656 Rid Ich for Aquarium, 16-OunceAfter I apply the Rid-Ich, the water immediately turned blue. The fishes look very uncomfortable at first, and surely enough the sickest fish died next day. But after a few more days Ich is gone. The medication is very strong, when I accidentally got some of it on my hand the stain seem to be permanent.

It also kills other fungi, which is a good bonus. I had some fish with another fungus infection that rots their fin, and Rid-Ich got rid of those too. Good product but may kill weak fish.

I currently have a 125 gallon aquarium with about 45 different types of Loaches, which if you don't know are incredibly susceptible to Ich. I had grown tired of using other ich treatments as they were always to strong to use on my loach species being that they are "scaleless" fish and cannot handle normal ich treatments and also cannot handle large amounts of salt. It was paramount to find a treatment that I could use at full strength without worrying about killing my loaches. After researching I saw Kordon come up repeatedly as a preferred treatment for many fish keepers. So I went to order Kordon Ich Plus right away. At the time I received the treatment my Clown Loaches in a month long battle with a terrible ich outbreak. So I poured in the recommended amount on the bottle, with the temperature at 84F, and a 75% water change my Clown Loaches were showing no signs of ich anymore. After a month of using the treatment I was ensured that all ich was eliminated from my tank. Since then whenever I introduce a new young fish into my tank I add Kordon Ich Plus to my water as insurance to make sure my tank will not become infected. I give this product five stars because it cures ich speedily and without harmful effects to my fish. Since I used this product I also have not had another outbreak of ich. So I can say that I'm very happy with this purchase.

When I do a water change sometimes it stirs up the gravel bed and the fish muck. It has been my practice for years to use this product at half strength in such cases. It seems to prevent shock and parasitical or fungal problems in that environment.

I also suggest if you have silver colored fish to go half strength. IE, Silver Dollars, Tinfoil Barbs, etc. Silver colored fish seem to be more sensitive to this product.

I use this at the first signs of stress or disease in the tank. Follow with a water change and another treatment for best results. I rarely have to do this more than twice. For what it is worth my fish are going on seven years of age. This product has been my first line of defense and really works.

After months of bad advice from people at pet stores, the condition of my beta was so advanced I was scared the rid ich wouldn't be shipped in time to save him. Rid Ich works! Just make sure that you do not over-medicate your fish and that you have time to observe him after each doseage.

I had one bumblebee cichlid that looked terrible. He was lethargic, covered in white spots, clamped fin and a rotting tail fin. The other fish were acting a little odd. They were scratching themselves against rocks quite a bit and werent eating much. I used Rid ich for 4 days and they were all completely healed (except for the fin rot which is getting better). It worked like a charm. The down side is that it stained all the silicone in my tank such as in the corners. I wish this product didnt stain because it really does work well. I think next time I'll try to use heat and salt to heal my fish because this stuff is ruining my tank.

Glofish Plastic Plants Large Sunburst Orange, BacopaIt's like any other plastic plant you would put in a fish tank, flimsy but when you put the water in it it comes to life. product came on time. It dosen't glow very bright though.

Pennplax Tropical Reflection/Blue Bubble Aquarium Decor

Pennplax Tropical Reflection/Blue Bubble Aquarium DecorUsed this on my 55 gallon aquarium. It fit the dimensions perfectly. I used scotch tape to put on rather than the glue. With the glue it started to bubble immediately and looked terrible when I used it on a prior background. The design is pretty and nice color blue. Easy to put on. I did it by myself, but would be much easier with a 2nd person.

Reptology® Turtle Topper® Above-Tank Basking Platform & Dock

Penn Plax Decorative Turtle Topper/Basking PlatformI have my two red ear sliders in a 55 gallon tank, theryre about 4 to 5 inches across. I can fill the tank for maximum swimming space and they can go up to the "penthouse" for a nap via the ramp, stay dry with all the proper lighting and plenty of space for both of them to bask. The underneath underwater bench is where they sleep and rest during the night. They are secure and extremely happy little guys. We found them wandering around our back porch when they were no bigger then quarters. Today they live in the lap of luxury with their own penthouse.

I highly recommend this topper to anyone with a tank. The suction cups on either side secure to most any size tank..I love this product and am so happy someone put it on the market! It beats those suction docks big time and the turtles stay completely dry, very important!

Before I got this basking platform I tried using floating docks for my turtles basking area. Those docks would never last long and as the turtle grew they were never large enough. After a couple of months my turtle would either tear them apart or they would just fall apart. After spending more than $50 on floating docks I decided it was time for a change. I considered building my own basking platform but just couldn't make the time to do it. Finally I came across the Turtle Topper. I was a little skeptical looking at it but figured it was worth a shot. It is the best decision I have made for my turtle. It fits perfectly on my 60 gallon tank and my turtle loves it. When he isn't basking in the top part he is usually lounging on the underwater platform. By having this unit instead of a floating dock I can have the tank filled almost to the top. With the water level being higher there is less strain on the filter and with not having to worry about a floating dock that falls apart the water stays cleaner longer due to the filter not clogging up. The two clamp spots on the Turtle Topper are perfect for having a UV lamp and a heat lamp. Overall the Turtle Topper was the best investment I have made for my turtle and he has been healthier and happier since I installed this item.

I have a 8" RES and he can get up into the turtle topper. It may be plastic, but it isn't flimsy. It obviously looks like plastic though. Kind of like a toy. It works great, which is all that matters to me. I especially like the area on the top for the clamp lamps. It fits up to a 55 gallon tank. Hopefully they soon come out with a bigger one for bigger tanks too. :)

This thing is a must-have if you have an aquatic turtle in an aquarium. Before this came along, I had to keep purchasing cheaply-made suction cup docks. They would last a couple of months before they started to fall apart, and shortly after that they just became useless. The first thing I noticed about the Turtle Topper was how sturdy it feels. It is definitely built to last, so much so that unless I decide to slam it on the floor one day I think it may last forever.

It seemed too good be true when I saw the Turtle Topper, but it really completes my aquarium. I used to have to keep the water level lower to allow basking room for my turtle. Now I can fill it much higher, and the water splashing from the filter is almost inaudible. I can clamp a UV lamp on one side and a heat lamp on the other. Inside is nice and roomy, and I keep a water dish in there and my turtle still has plenty of room to move around. She can bask in the heat up top, or use the underwater dock, and she loves both.

I have one very minor issue. When you have two lamps clamped, you can't open the door on top. Sure, you can take the clamps off, but having to re-set up the lights the exact way you want after makes it not worth it. A door on the side would have been nice, but I really don't have a problem just taking the top off.

All in all, I absolutely love the Turtle Topper, and at around fifty bucks you really can't go wrong. Great price for an amazing product, I can't recommend it enough. Thank you Reptology!

Turtles love to bask and swim! This lets them do both.

We have six species of aquatic turtles, and they all love the Turtle Topper. Because the basking platform is above the tank, we can keep our 30-gallon tank nearly full, and that means the water is deeper and stays cleaner longer! Our big 9-inch Red Ear Slider can get up just fine, as can our little 4-inch Mississippi Map turtle.

Benefits include:

1. the filters run under the platform, so they don't splash the walls, or the lights, etc.

2. the turtles leave the water completely, so they can really dry off. It's good for their skin/shells.

3. there's room for multiple turtles on the platform (though bullies might not let anyone join them).

4. The platform looks great and sits above the water, so the water can be deeper. Turtles like swimming in deep water, and they eat better when the food floats above their heads.

We've had turtles for twenty years, and they've never been happier!

One tip: because the water is deeper, sometimes the turtles splash when they re-enter the water. It's still not as bad as the splashing from the filters used to be, but we just made a clear plastic "splash guard" from a thin sheet of plastic and the problem was solved.
