Finnex Might Ray 60 LED Light, 52 White, 4 Blue, 4 Red

Finnex Might Ray 60 LED Light, 52 White, 4 Blue, 4 RedThe led's are small like you would find in a kids toy. The light is focused in one spot for the most part so you need two for a ten gallon unless you only want one half of the tank lit up. Other than that it's a nice little Chinese light.

I bought the Finnex LCL-21 first for my 5.5g mysid and copepod tank, it had to be rigged with tape to stay on and it was dim. This unit, while too expensive for what it is, is worlds better.

The red led's add a nice effect during sunrise and sunset.

This lights up my 5.5g very brightly.

I recently moved a blue and red fuzzy mushroom from my all sps tank and it is doing very well, seemingly preferring this light output over my intense sps tanks' lighting.

Three switches work perfectly and this fits snuggly to the rim of the tank.

It would be 5 stars if it were sold for $15-$20 less.

I got it for my rimless glass 7 gallon nano cube, and it's just right. Attaches easily, flexible stem adjusts to any angle, lights up the whole thing. Glad I got it.

UPDATE 3/13/13 After less than a year, the 4 blue LEDs have stopped working.

Nice and flat so it isn't so noticable, bright but not too bright. I have all three light colours on at a time so they are beaming down on the plant life and fish, enhancing the look of the tank. Shipping was very prompt.

GloFish Aquarium Kit with Blue LED Light, 5-Gallon

GloFish Aquarium Kit with Blue LED Light, 5-GallonThis is a wonderful little tank. we decided that we wanted to get a few fish, so we looked into options for a place for them to live. The first idea was a cute little led colored bubbler tank, but they topped out at three gallons, and we wanted the fish to have a bit of room. The normal everyday 10gal tank was out of the question, because we live in a small apartment and barely have room to move around as it is. After a bit of research into tanks we decided to go with this one as it has the nice led lighting, room for a small fish to move around, comes with a filter system, and wasn't really heavy. The only place we have to keep a tank in on top of a folding wire dog kennel that our cute little dog lives in, to much weight and we would not only be out a fish tank, but be shopping for a new kennel.

A tank of this size means you have to be careful of which fish you choose to live inside it. Anything that grows to a large size is out of the question, the rule I found out is 1 inch of fish per gallon of water. That means if you get fish an inch long you can put five in this tank without overloading it. If you wish to have more fish, you should get a larger tank. So this limited the choices of fish a bit.

We ended up going with two of the fish the tank is named for glo-fish (one pink one green), and since it was on sale a little fiddler crab, (everything said we should wait on the crab as it takes awhile for the tank to grow the right kind of bacteria, but he is so cute we got him anyway) then we stopped at a pet store named for fish and picked some tiny neon tetra's and a couple zebra danio's. all the fish lined up nose to tail might be 4 inches(if you pull hard on each one as you measure), so with the crab (that does morning exercise), we are right at the limit for this tank.

Little tanks mean more cleaning as there is no space for anything to hide. The fish eat, that means after the food is processed thru the fish it has to go somewhere, which means you have to get that back out of the tank. Plus new fresh gravel tends to cloud the water (something else I just learned), so has to be clean often. all this leads to every other day cleaning for the first month of ownership I am told. I didn't know it was going to be so much work to keep the little tank going, but its really not that hard to clean if you get a gravel cleaner (available at most pet stores for around ten dollars). It takes less time to clean the tank, than it does to pre heat the oven. I know as she was starting to make diner when I got off work and turned the oven on to pre heat, before it was ready for the food to go in the tank was cleaned and ready to roll. This all means that its not much of time consuming task to clean up.

The fish seem very happy, they zip back and forth and dart thru all the decorations (not included with the tank but easy to find), and the crab climbs into places that make you wonder how it could possible get there. Its a very relaxing thing to have in the home as I find myself watching the little fish darting around instead of watching the television so much. Plus feeding time is allot of fun as the fish get to be really active trying to get all the food for themselves (they hate to share).

For those of us out there without allot of space and with a desire to have little finned creatures zipping around in our homes, I highly recommend this tank.

For those out there with more space I would say find something a lot larger and fill it with fun things like little freshwater sharks.

My mom got this tank for my son for his birthday to replace a cracked aquarium that had held a betta we got the aquarium and started putting it together. There was a small piece of the base broken on it but I figured it's ok no big deal after all the aquarium is intact, the light is amazingly bright and the betta was loving having more room to swim but then I plugged in the filter and the filter started to pull him to it. The filter is way too powerful for a betta so currently it is a 5 gallon fish bowl with a pretty blue light. This is a beautiful tank but I will be replacing the filter because if the betta gets stuck to it it will kill him and I don't want to explain that to my son.

Aquarium Automatic Fish Food Tank Feeder Timer Home BLK

Aquarium Automatic Fish Food Tank Feeder Timer Home BLKI love this feeder! And as a PETCO fish expert I have been highly recommending it to my many many aquatic customers. I have been using it (personally) for 5 months already and have not had to change the batteries at all. It gets the job done and is very durable. I do not have to worry about feeding my freshwater fish every day, because this feeder does it for me. Also another advantage to using an automatic feeder it that fish love to be on daily schedules, and when they are fed at the exact time, every single day, they love it even more. I have noticed that when it is nearing the time for them to be fed, my fish start swimming up at the top of the tank anticipating for their food to drop. Another great advantage to using this type of feeder is that you can choose the portion size of food you would like to be dropped into the tank for every feeding. Also you can choose whether you would like your fish to be fed once a day or up to 4 times a day. And if you have baby fish in your tank this will help you out a great deal. When I had baby platies in my breeders net, it was very hard for me to make sure they were fed 4 times a day. Sometimes I wasn't even home for a couple of the feedings, but with this automatic feeder my worries went away.

I highly recommend this product for all levels of aquarist. I think you should definitely buy this product!!

Very cheaply made and its sure not to last long but it works for now and gets the job done!

Fits a bit odd on the hood. took a little tweeking to get the right amount of food distributed but after a week on vacation the fish are still alive!

Worked ok for me to be gone for a week. It is cheaply made, but what do you expect at this price?

The only con for me was that the food adjustment had to be on the first notch or it dumped in way too much food. I am using small pellet food. This may be better suited for flakes.

TOM TM1290 Aquarium Maintenance Easy Scrape-hand held algae scraper

TOM TM1290 Aquarium Maintenance Easy Scrape-hand held algae scraperI purchased this to use on my daughter's 5-gallon acrylic Marineland Hex Betta tank. Due to the tank's design, I expected the cleaning process to be more difficult than your average rectangular tank, but this scraper was pretty much useless. Only the extreme edges of this tool scraped any algae at all, and then in only microscopic quantities. A sheet of Bounty and some good old fashioned elbow grease, followed by five drops of algaecide, were much more effective. I plan sending this back. I think this tool is best used on glass tanks where it appears it works quite well.

I have never used a scraper to remove algae before; I've always relied on those magnetic scrubbers. Well I am sorry I didn't try this sooner. Really easy to use and most importantlyEFFECTIVE.

My only complaint is that I don't think the blade is perfectly straight, so I have to go over areas more than once. It's a minor flaw though.

I have a glass tank so I can't speak for the effectiveness of the acrylic scraper attachment.

Bought this to use on glass aquariums. Does not remove algae cleanly. Leaves streaks as though the blade (metal) is not completely flat. Better and faster to use a single edged razor blade and get my arm wet than to use this scraper. Would not buy again!

The blade is not sharp enough to remove much algae. Don't waste your money. I used to have a thin, long handled scraper with a single edge razor blade attached. That was great. They don't seem to make them anymore. I recently bought a long handled scraper but it has this same useless blade. I can't believe I've wasted my money on these items that don't serve their purpose.

P-9000: Finnex Double Outlets - Electronic Control Air Pump

P-9000: Finnex Double Outlets - Electronic Control Air PumpI use this product for the Two Tropicaire Humidifier Air Exchanger that I purchased for my Brazilian Rainbow Boa's 322D . I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a variable speed, high output air pump. The 2L/min output is plenty for what I need it to do and I am sure what anyone would need. I give this product a 9.5 out of 10. The .5 deduction being for a bit of noise, but it is still amazingly quite with no vibration. Buy this pump!!

Marina Fine Nylon Fish Net

Marina 3-Inch Blue Fine Nylon Net with 10-Inch HandleThis net works fantastic for my 2.5 Gallon Fish Bowl. I'm able to slowly get my quick Betta inside and transfer him out to clean the bowl.

The net is great quality and sturdy so you don't have to worry it breaking. This is a small net so it's best fit for small tanks, for me I have a fish bowl so this is perfect!

Pretty much does the job for me.

I was looking for something to clean the silt out of the bottom of my artificial fish pond. I needed a net with a very fine mesh and a relatively sturdy handle. This is just about perfect. It doesn't catch the finest particles when they've been stirred up, but it does grab them when they're piled at the bottom of the pond. I wish the handle were a little longer, but it's pretty sturdy at least. I'm thrilled I found this net for so cheap; I thought I was going to have to drop ten bucks or more for something that I would then have to modify to work properly.

K&H 9000 Ice Eliminator BirdBath 50-Watt De-Icer

K&H 9000 Ice Eliminator BirdBath 50-Watt De-IcerIt finally got cold enough to try this out. So far, it seems to work very well. Temperatures have been in the 20s and 30s and it keeps a 12" circle of water ice-free. The birds have definitely been taking advantage of it.

It mentions this in the description, but I missed it initially, so I just thought I would reiterate that this heater is thermostatically controlled, so it only turns on when necessary. That's nice, as thermostatic plugs cost twenty bucks or more.

[UPDATE]

My circuit breaker tripped and the birdbath water froze. When I turned it back on, the heater thawed its way out of a solid block of ice at 5 degrees F. I'd say that it works pretty well!

I had procrastinated when it came to getting a bird bath heater. Winter came on later this year, but I had still for some reason waited until the bath was frozen solid to actually decide on what one to get. I was pleasantly suprised to find that by morning this little heater had melted all the way to the bottom of the bath. I don't have a bad thing to say about this product. The cord is a bit unruly, but I suspect that is the case no matter what heater I would have put in. Despite only being a 50 watt heater it has to date always kept the bird bath open, even on those nights where it got below zero and the wind chills were in the -30 range.

Buy K&H 9000 Ice Eliminator BirdBath 50-Watt De-Icer Now

When the temp went down below zero for 4 or 5 days in a row, the heater was able to keep a small area free from ice in the bird bath for them to access the water all the time. It is nice to see the animals getting something to drink when everything else around them is frozen solid.

As for my electric bill, I did not notice a difference when using the heater during the months of Jan or Feb. The 50 watt heater is enough to keep some of the water accessible, but not kill my electric bill.

K&H Bird Bath Ice Eliminator This birdbath heater looks natural in the birdbath (unlike a coil) and can be painted if you want to. It's an energy miser at just 50 watts of power (others use 4 times more at 200 watts). At 11 cents per Kwhr., this heater costs just 13 cents/day or $3.90/month to operate, before considering the thermostat feature. The built-in thermostate turns this unit off at temperatures above 40 degrees. Your actual operating cost is probably $2 per month. That's a cheap price to pay for the entertainment of seeing birds year 'round at the birdbath. In the zero degree weather it still keeps a sufficient area ice-free, which is all the birds need. The birds seem to really appreciate it when there's no other sources of water. I've had mine for 4 winters now. I'm sure my 'bird-buddies' are glad I got it.

Want K&H 9000 Ice Eliminator BirdBath 50-Watt De-Icer Discount?

This is a good deicer. The size is nice and will fit in most bird baths. In the cold New England winters it does not put out enough heat to keep the entire bird bath free of ice when it gets really cold outside but usually at least half is ice free. I like the auto temperature sensor so that it turns off on the warmer days. The only downside to this product is the length of the cord. I would have to run an extension cord no matter how long its cord was but I would prefer it if the cord was a couple of feet longer. The birds certainly do appreciate having a drinking source in the cold weather.
