API Ammonia Test Strips
Got a new tank and was trying to cycle (with Tetra SafeStart), using these strips to check for ammonia. But, scale resolution is not fine enough, but worse give very inaccurate results it was indicating nothing, but was actually 1.0! Test strip color changes dramatically depending upon what light you are looking at it under (especially fluorescent vs incandescent looked green vs light brown).Skip this and go for the real dropper test kit it about the same price and waaaay more accurate.
Not always easy to read the strip.

I bought two of these, and they work well, but there is a 1 deg F difference between both of them, so I am not sure which is right but if one degree accuracy is good enough for you this is a perfect little product at a cheap price. BTW it seems to take at least one minute between samples so dont expect sudden changes if you put it in the palm of your hand or in ice water. Thats a good quality if your using it on Aquariums or anything involving live animals.

I bought 4 of these little units. One for use as a temperature sensor for my truck. As it gets colder I like to know what the temp is when I'm driving.I should have started by saying that I ordered the 4 units at 6:51pm [pst] and received them just 2 days later. Great company, great deal, fast and attentive shipping department. I will now look to their company first when shopping.
I have 2 units checking the temp in 1 small space and they are only off by 00.2 or 2 tenths of a degree. Pretty darn good for a $5 item.

I've had this item for about almost a month and to me it's great. I turn it on in the morning to check the temperature and then also check it at night. So far the temperature it's telling me is pretty good. My temperature reads between 77.5 79.6 and everything in my tank seems to be fine. My fishes are active and my plants are doing well. So I would say that this thermometer is working the way I expected it to work.I recommend this thermometer to anyone that is looking for an affordable digital thermometer. Definitely better than the floater thermometers.

Well, its very accurate. I'm planning on using it for the leopard gecko I'm getting in a few days. (My first reptile ever!) I actually bought two for both sides of the terrarium. When I put them next to each other one said 75.4 and the other said 75.8 so...awesome. Plus its cheaper than the rest of the products like this and it works better than the rest (judging solely on the reviews of other products like this one) so I'd say its worth the money. My only complaint is that the suction cup is not the best. When I put it on it fell within 30 seconds so...not so awesome. I guess I'll tape it or something. Also, if its worth anything, the cord is pretty long I think. But keep in mind that this is the first time that I've used a thermometer like this. Hope this helps. :)

After the most recent demise of my last BettaHot Temper, who bless his heart, lived 2 years in a 1 gallon fish bowl, I found myself in a fish store (not so soon after, I did mourn the little guy). Wandering about I could not deny my instant love for a feisty beautiful little guy the size of a small drapery tassel, I brought him home (instant gratification and instant love is my middle name)...and proceeded to give him 'Hot Temper's' life all over again (yes...in a bowl), but this time I thought he might benefit from living at work with me (I work all the time)...fast forward to cute little fish, living on my desk, and between calls me looking up just what might make him happy (er)...I come to a sudden realization that I sucked as a fish mom(formerly) and needed to give the little guy what he truly deserved, more oxygen, more "toys", more room and heat. I bought this little aquarium wonder (w/a black top),bye bye bowl, and wow have I got one happy fish! This tank is an easy set up,the filter (that worried me sick) is great, it will not swallow or eat your Betta (as far as I can tell so far...thank goodness!),he is not struggling through any major currents and as far as I can tell, he is a happy camper (or show off). I purchased a small heater to keep his temp at what is most conducive to his normal habitat, my Betta is making bubbles nests, and showing off like a full finned champ. I always thought I had a happy Betta, until now, this fish is unbelievably active and showy. I know it's a fish, but he sure reminds me of a puppy with fins! I love this little tank, perfect on a desk top, easy to set up, perfect for a Betta (just buy a heater, plants, gravel and hiding nook and you're set!) Love this!!
I've had several different kinds of fish, neons, barbs, but this aquarium is really awesome for a betta.
The filter is great and with a betta I only change the filter every 4-5 months (no algae or anything). For multiple fish I had to change it maybe every three months because of the excess... waste :)
There is plenty of room in here for my betta, a plant and a little rock he likes to hide in as well as some gravel. The only reason I ordered the 5 gallon version of this tank is that my Betta has been alive for nearly 2 years and he's huge now! So I'm going to put my smaller betta in the 2.5g and I got the 5g mini bow for my betta-shark ;)
This aquarium has stood the test of time, I took it to my dorm and it moved with me into my apartment and has no scratches or leaks or anything. Because mine is rather old I've gone through about 2 light bulbs but Wal-mart carries replacements so it wasn't a big deal. Mine is also some what dirty on the outside (dust and gunk) but that's due to the age.
This aquarium would be perfect for any kids or first time aquarium owners! I absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone... EVERYONE!
It's hard to find a small aquarium with an actual filter instead of just a bubbler, and this is perfect. I only wish I had gotten it in a different color because the red doesn't really match anything now!

I bought this item at a local pet shop and immediately had to bring it back because the lower part of the filter had not been included with the kit. I told the people at the pet store and they told me that they have had a LOT of problems with Aqueon not including all of the kit parts in the box, and that they were planning on having a discussion with their Aqueon rep about the issue. It wasn't a huge deal, but I would certainly hesitate when buying this product online, because of the difficulty of return. They gave me a new one, but not before opening the new box and checking to make sure every single item was in there. (The person who was originally behind the counter was apparently a new employee and didn't realize there was an ongoing problem with Aqueon, so she didn't open the box to make sure everything was in the box)Otherwise, the product works as advertised.

Love the tank, love the filter. Works amazing. Only problem was my beta could not swim against the current of the filter sucking in water. I had to jimmy-rig something with some tubing to reduce the suction in one area and so my fish could swim. I like this aquarium setup; however, the filter current is too strong for young bettas and quite possibly for fully grown ones. My betta is blown by the current, so this is just to tell you that many bettas prefer no current at all. I would recommend a different type of filtration for this tank.Save 35% Off

I have two of these in my 60 gallon my lowlight plants are growing good and there super bright. Leaves a little red glimmer and the lights are in glass tubes becareful when handling I already broke one. Other than that better alternative to expensive marineland. I have only had the light for a few weeks and it is performing well so far. I was some what disappointed to find only one reflector for the two bulbs instead of one for each bulb. One of the ballasts is making a slight buzzing noise which is moderately irritating. The buzzing ballast will be replaced soon with a good quality Fulham ballast. This fixture is a decent quality product for the money.
I gave it four stars because it does not have separate power cords for the bulbs. Some people like to have Actinic come on first and then the daylight bulbs with timers. Other than this it is great, built well, easy to install. Interesting that they put the on/off buttons on the front, not sure yet if I like this or not.

This light is very sleek and professional looking. I like how it hinges so you can lift it and access the tank a little better. It also have a really nice silver reflector backing the inside. Please don't forget to peal off the protective plastic film that's on the water shield or the light won't penetrate the water like it should and could melt. The best part is I saw this exact light fixture in a 30" size at PetCo today for $199.99!!!!!! If you're going to get this light please do yourself a favor and buy it here on Amazon. Even with shipping it's a steal! I would also suggest you to buy your bulbs here on amazon also because I am having a hard time finding the right bulbs at the store around me. I bought a 36" bulb but I guess I got some sizing measurement wrong because its too long. You can buy the bulbs that Amazon suggest you buy or you can go hunting around. My husband bought the hood to give extra light for live plants, and to make the fish more visible. This does this well. Right now the 2 hoods on this 125 gallon tank are just placed on the glass, and lifted off for feed and maintenance. The lights do give quite a bit of heat, but it is fall here in Central Wisconsin and we keep our house cool. First light arrived missing one of the side brackets.Returning the unit could not have been easier.
Second light arrived, looked to be complete, but upon further inspection, it is missing the wire suspension kit.
The unit itself must be attached directly to the aquarium, meaning that you cannot attach it if you're using a hood.
So without the suspension kit, you have to decide if you want the hood or the light.

Do not go out to the hardware store and try to build your own version. I know have a beautiful Marine tank. The price is high, but the product is excellent.

Great product, looks/functions almost as advertised. The connections on the bottom of the tank could be smaller, the ones that come with it are for 1 3/4 inch hose going to the filter (who uses a connection that big?)
