We're working 3 bubblers in a 60 gallon tank with it and are very happy. If you turn it down it slows the motor and runs more silentlyit doesn't just vent the extra air. Even turned all the way up it is quieter than tetra air pumps that produce a similar output, and it somehow seems to actually get quieter with time (or maybe I'm just getting deafer).

Used this to replace our very noisy Biorb air pump(notorious for noise). What a difference with this JW Fusion Air pump. Quiet hummmm when used on it's lowest setting but still produces a lot of bubbling through the air stone. Nice that it's adjustable. Only time will tell if it stays quiet.

We've had several air pumps over the 15 years or so we've had an aquarium. I got tired of noisy ones and found this. Not only is it as quiet as advertised, I actually have to look to see if bubbles are rising sometimes! I really like the fact it's adjustable too. It's running an under-bed airstone and 2 bubble towers in a 20 gal. aquarium, and may be overkill, but on the low setting it's just perfect. Much better than any I've gotten at Petsmart, the price is great, and we got it superfast.

I wanted an inexpensive air pump to move the contents of a sous vide bath around. The features that I wanted were the ability to control air at the pump, quietness, adequate air, and reliability. I was looking for a goldfish bowl size pump, so I started at the bottom. I've only had this pump for a couple weeks, so I can't rate reliability. There is another review here that says that the pump won't push air out of his airstone...that is another thing I can't rate since I don't have an airstone. I bought some 3/16" inside diameter hose that was silicone and food grade, and I folded the end of the hose over, and stuck it in a 1/2" stainless steel nut to weight it down. Then I clipped little snips into the hose. It worked amazingly well. The dial on top of the pump allows me to contol the air without a $5 gadget.

The pump is as quiet as any aquarium pump I've ever had. It is not soundless, but the bubbling is louder than the pump, in my opinion. I understand that this other reviewer had a terrible one, but Amazon will pay return postage on defective items. Another possibility is that his pump was just turned to minimum, when you do that the air turns almost off, and the power of the flow goes down.

All in all, this is a good cheap pump, and perfect for my purpose. I have no idea what else I could possibly want from a little cheap pump.

The undergravel is possibly the most basic form of aquarium filtration. This undergravel does just that. It works. All you need is an air pump, gravel and that's it. Lay your gravel sloped, shallow towards the front and it will work. Hook up your air pump and enjoy. If you are setting up a new tank, keep in mind that the water may cloud up at first. After setting the tank up it may look fine and crystal clear. You go to bed only to wake up to a cloudy tank. It is not the fault of the filter. It may be new gravel that has not "cycled" with bennificial bacteria yet. You may have to use a bacteria promoter or a product like Tetra "SafeStart" which is available on Amazon or you can just let it cycle naturally to promote it's own bacteria bloom. The Lee's premium undergravel filter is effective and does promote excellent biological filtration.

This thing is small. It is rated as a 40 gallon, in tank filter. There is only enough room for a little bit of media, and the only thing included is a thin strip of black sponge, the more porous kind for housing bio bacteria. But that's it. It will not hold Purigen in the bag, nor does it come with regular floss or carbon. You could add carbon to it in loose form. At least add some small bio-balls, or folded up filter floss. It would not be sufficient as your only method of filtration on a 40 gallon tank. Really, on any tank, as it is. However, it is quiet and produces a good outflow. The little suction cups work well, also. I'm using it in my 75 gallon tank as extra filtration, but mainly to agitate the surface. (I am using the suction cups to hold it on, almost at the bottom of the tank, and have the outflow pointing up) It has a few different attachments so you can point the outflow however you like. There is an attachment to attach it to an air pump also. One thing that is dumb: THERE ARE NO INTRUCTIONS. Luckily it's basic and I've set up and tweaked filters for many years. If you're looking for a cheap filter, spend the extra $5-$10 and get something else (BIGGER) from a bigger named company. Do not use this as your only means of filtration, because it is not large enough to hold the proper material for adequate filtration. You need (1) Aquarium floss or a sponge to collect debris that's floating in the water (2) Something porous to allow beneficial bacteria to grow on (VERY IMPORTANT-Google 'Nitrogen Cycle') (3) Possibly carbon, to purify your water. (You have to change it regularly or it starts to pollute your tank) So it's not big enough to house all that...but it is excellent to move water (avoiding "dead spots") and help oxygenate the tank (by agitating the surface). Also cheaper and quieter than a power-head setup, and just as effective.

I have no real experience to draw upon, but my wife gave me this and a pair of Bettas as a gift. I am a writer and having this on my work desk is great! I will update if I find any trouble with keeping it clean, but so far, it has been a pleasure. I have no trouble with the divider if I simply open the feeding hatch and place my finger on the divider when I remove the lid.

It is partially my fault for not doing further research before making the purchase, but after discussing it with a Petco fish professional and doing further internet research, it was made clear to me that ONE Betta fish needs at least ONE GALLON of water If you think a fish is an "easy" pet to start off with like I did, do your research if you want you fish to live. You'll want your kids to learn to do the same before making decisions involving live animals!

Just because a Betta can survive in small conditions because in their natural environment during the drought season doesn't mean that we should keep them in those conditions. Many Bettas don't survive these rough conditions that nature provides in their home territory. If you buy small cups and throw a fish in themyou are just condemning them to solitary confinement in a prison cell. My Betta is in a 10 gallon tank and you wouldn't believe the fun he has exercising and playing in all that space. If you careyou would never subject this beautiful creature to cups of water if you saw them in gallons of HEATED (they are tropical fish) water!!!!!! Study this fish and you will understand that we take for granted their survival mechanisms and exploit them for our own foolish pleasure.

This tank is far too small for a fish. Bettas need more space, a gallon at the bare minimum to survive. Putting 1 fish in this tank is cruel, let alone 2. Small aquariums are subject to drastic temperature changes and are not as stable as larger ones. Bettas will be miserable in a tank this small. Please get educated about bettas before buying one. I kept my first betta, out of ignorance, in a small cube and it lived for 8 months, amazingly. There is plenty of info available online. They are not just live ornaments meant to sit in miserably confined jail cells, but living creatures that need warm and clean water, plant cover (live plants are needed for health and tank conditions), and space to live. My current betta lives in a 2 gallon tank with a small heater, and filter (which I run about half the time). He is happy, active, and curious. Bettas do not need air pumps since they get oxygen at the water surface. The only worthwhile use for this "aquarium" would be to hold your betta temporarily while you clean his larger tank, or transport him for some reason. Just because the tank is "compact and fits my desk well", does not mean it is a good idea. Buy a bigger tank and learn to properly care for your betta and he/she will make it known they are happy!

I was a little afraid about getting this heater due to some of the poor reviews, but I've had it for over 2 weeks now and so far it works just fine. I know most heaters require circulation via filter to work properly, I wonder if that was some people's problem? It was a fair price, hides easily under gravel, and keeps my 1.8 gallon betta tank around 80 degrees at all time. My betta seems much happier since I got it. Would recommend!

I have a small 1.5 gallon Betta tank which I needed a heater for but most heaters are way too powerful for such a small tank. This heater is excellent it only raises the temperature 5 to 10 degrees which is perfect for this size tank. So in the winter when my home temperature is 68 the heater will raise the temperature at a maximum 10 degress which brings the temperature to 78. You can also bury it under the gravel so it remains hidden. Would highly recommend this heater.

I have a one gallon fish bowl and there arent really any heaters made for that size. So because this heater is made for heating tanks up to several gallons, the water temperature of bowl needs to be monitored at all times if using a bowl as small as mine. Otherwise the water will get too hot for your fish. I usually plug mine in in the morning for a bit and then take it out when the temp is around 80, and I plug it in a bit before I go to bed and unplug it for overnight.

This works well for a 3 gallon half-moon and keep it at 78 in a 72 degree room.....I read a lot of reviews on here, but never could get this information specifically,so I am putting it here for others. Fits nicely under the gravel. Fish a bit afraid, but it does the job. I also cleared a little gravel away from the top of it so it helps radiate more heat. Heavy, thick gravel may make it function a little lighter, in my opinion, but you can assemble a safe pile of gravel on top.

The light is very compact and bright. Unfortunately the design is cheap and LEDs are not cooled properly. Even if you power it at the lowest voltage rated (10V) and the strip is mounted on flat conductive surface, the LEDs will dim down very significantly after a few minutes of turning it ON. If you try powering it at 24V, LEDs will dim dow to about 10% of the initial light output in less than 30 s.

Not recommended.

I have an Red Sea Max 130D and wanted more of the blue actinic look for when the main compact fluorescents were not turned on (the standard moon lights that comes with the tank are two wimpy small blue LEDs). This light bar fits in light housing perfectly! I had to wire it to a DC wall adapter, but even the most novice electrician can do this (some electrical tape, wire stripper, scissors, and crimp connectors some shrink tubing if you want to get fancy) and then screw the two mounting brackets in to the metal light deflector. The light is the perfect wavelength (453) to get the fluorescent colors of the coral to pop the also give a nice shimmer on the sand bed and do not have a spotlight effect. the light is FAR brighter than i expected (which is a good thing for the application i wanted) If you are going with a smaller tank (

It fit my 20 gallon long aquarium perfectly, and looks terrific!

I got this for my 29 gallon tank and the glass part fits perfectly, however the clear plastic strip that attaches to the glass is about an inch to short from reaching the back of my aquarium. I called Aqueon and was advised that the brand aquarium that I have(Top Fin)was the reason it did not go all the way to the back. He said I could order a universal strip from smithandfoster.com and it would work. For now I put a piece of black electrical tape over the gap. Other than that I am happy with it, it looks so much better than the hood that came with the aquarium. BTW Aqueon was the only brand glass hood the store sold, you would think they would sell there brand glass hood to fit there aquariums so there customers could avoid this issue. I gave it 5 stars b/c it is no fault of the manufacturer.

The product is about 0.5" too narrow to completely cover the 12" depth of a 30" x 12" aquarium (it's exactly 11" wide including the vinyl section). I will have to find a way to bridge the gap.

It also arrived with the plastic handle snapped in half, which I am attempting to fix with super glue.

Altogether, very dissatisfying.

Marineland LED Aquarium Light, 11-Inch

I recently bought this LED aquarium light to replace an incandescent lamp that I had, whose expensive bulbs (about $14 each) kept burning out every few months.

This Marineland LED 11-inch Aquarium Light is so far so good. I have a 29-gallon tank that's 30" long, and this 11-inch lamp really does do a good job lighting up the whole tank, just as it claims on the package ("for aquariums up to 30 inches long"). This is great news, because I didn't want to spend more money for a lamp that runs the entire length of the aquarium.

The light really does look natural, and brings out the colors on both my fish and my artificial plants. From what I understand, however, this lamp does not provide the right light waves for planted aquariums, so don't get it if you have live plants.

The lamp also has a "night mode"...it's a smaller amount of light (which happens to be blue) which looks cool at night...but if you choose to use this, you'll have to manually switch it every night (and back to day mode every morning). The lamp does not automatically switch between day and night modes. So, needless to say, the night mode is sort of useless for that reason. I always have the day mode turned on, and have plugged the lamp into my own timer so that the fish can have darkness at night.

I have 3, soon to be 6, two-and-a-half gallon aquariums in which I have my Male Bettas. This light is PERFECT for that size tank. The light would not be bright enough for anything over 5 gallons. If you are a Betta lover and enjoy collecting Bettas, don't hesitate to use this for their single tanks!

I got this light with a 30 gallon kit and after 8 months the power connection rusted and the whole thing quit working. Sealing the area where the plug goes into the black case may avert this problem.

I bought the Marineland 20 gallon high aquarium kit, mainly because I was in a hurry to get my daughter a birthday present and I knew she wanted a blue light so she could see her glofish glow (we were upgrading from her old ten gallon). I didn't stop to consider at first whether this light would keep our plants alive. Once I got it all set up, I was concerned that it wasn't bright enough, even for my low light plants. I shouldn't have worried--it WILL grow things like java moss, anubias, crypts, aponogeton bulbs, onion bulbs, moss balls, and maybe even some other things that we're experimenting with now (wisteria and hairgrass). With DIY co2 the growth isn't even what I would call slow. I have switched the hood that came with the kit to a glass canopy, and I plan on buying a second one of these lights to run at the same time. Very nice!

This was my first experience with a titanium heater and so far I LOVE it! I had done a good bit of research and learned that the biggest problem with titanium heaters is sometimes they do too well of a job and overheat the tank so I decided to go a bit smaller than I needed in the hopes that it would keep my tank warm enough but not be capable of overheating it should a problem occur. I have a 260 gallon (freshwater setup) that this heater maintains between 75-80 degrees with absolutely no trouble...it doesn't even run all the time like I expected it might. I do keep a separate thermometer that I can use to compare the heater (on the opposite side of the tank) with and so far it is true to temp. I like the fact that it lays horizontally in the back because it is easily hidden and doesn't stand out like some of the other heaters do. I don't worry about it breaking like glass heaters have been known to do. I will be purchasing a smaller wattage heater to replace the glass heater in my 55 gallon aquarium as well. I think one key to good temp is good water flow so that the temp is even across the tank and there are no hot and cold spots. I've had that problem with heaters that must hang on the sides but not with this one so far. Great purchase and I'll surely be getting another!

The HMA 300 titanium 300 watt aquarium heater I bought some time ago. I really like this tank heater it hasn't failed me at all. I like the control on the outside of the tank you don't have to pull the heater from the tank to ajust temp. The only thing is you have to have a good thermometer as the control that you set the temprature with is not right on. But then any heater is not right on. Because you have lighting that changes the water temp during the day as does any sun light that might hit your tank. I would recamend this heat to anyone that has a larger aquarium. I am using this heater in a 55 gallon tank and it holds the temp within a coupel of degress of the setting. And the titanium tube will not brake like the glass heaters. When you first set temp make sure you watch tank temp until it ajust so you don't boil your fish friends. You should do this with any tank heater.I would say set the temp a little low to start with by about 5 dgrees and bring temp up slowly so you don't shock your fish by bring temp up or down to fast.

I was a little nervous purchasing this item. Once I received it tho, I was very happy with my purchase. It is very sturdy and the plastic is very strong. The hood fits fine on the tank itself, using a standard filter. I had to C-U-T the rear section of the hood at both ends to allow for Penguin double filters AND a top mount heater. I used a saber saw to enlarge the openings on both ends as the standard break out are way too small. The light is a full spectrum light and it does show the neon fish rather well. You get what you pay for. Not a bad deal, if you know how to saw. Remember though, alter the product and void the warranty. I have been getting too many requests for the size from here. Amazon should edit their own page and include the answers to the most asked questions. So without further ado, Dimensions are 35 1/8 inches wide by 11 3/8 inches deep.

I love this media basket. It fits my ac 70 perfectly and I like the flow pattern through the different baskets. I have mine setup with a hydor 50 watt heater in with the filter floss, seachem purigen in the bottom area and a fuge light with cheato in the final compartment before the water returns to the tank. Quiet One Lifegard Aquarium Pump, 1664-Gallon Per Hour

I am using this pump on my 90gal Reef/Fish tank.

When moving my previous tank to my new house I used this pump to pump the water from the street (32gal trash cans in the back of my Accord) up 12' to my house. This pump had enough to do it in no time! I also couldn't even tell the pump was on it was so quiet...

Once I installed it in my sump it was a different story... I used hard mounted PVC to the pump and it had a loud hum... Because it had been so quiet before I realized that it would be good to have a softer coupler (vinyl tubing) to isolate the vibration... Once I did that it was VERY QUIET!

Owned 1 month and it seems like a high quality product.

It broke after using it for about a month as a return on my sump. I had to pay to send it back I didn't like that, they didn't even offer to let me pay them for the rate they get so it was retail shipping for a bad piece of equipment. It's been more than 30 days since I returned it but I haven't received it back. Will NOT get a Lifegard pump again. PS It wasn't any quieter than the mag drive I replaced it with.
