Zoo Med ReptiTherm® Under Tank Heater, Medium

Zoo Med ReptiThermĀ® Under Tank Heater, MediumI've been keeping reptiles for nearly 20 years and have used a variety of different products, including various brands & sizes of undertank heat pads. In my opinion, the heat pads made by Zoo Med are some of the best (I only say this because there are a few other brands I have not tried personally). In the very least, they blow the ones made by Exo-Terra out of the water.

Before I go on, I want to emphasize that if you use these heat pads on the bottom of any caging, you MUST raise the bottom level of the enclosure to prevent it from pinching the cord of the pad. Most heat pads in general come with little rubber "lifters" to do this for glass tanks, and the instructions also go over this. If you do not follow this step, the pinching WILL cause the heat pad to malfunction, either getting too hot or not at all. In addition to the pinching, excess heat will build up underneath the enclosure, causing the heated area to get dangerously hot as well. And obviously, use a thermostat or rheostat.

I have never had an issue with one of these heat pads not getting hot enough or too hot when using them on a glass tank, and have yet to use a Rheostat with on a glass tank [I wager its because I always lift up the caging to prevent the pinching & overheating issue mentioned in the previous paragraph].

One thing I like about these heat pads is that they are relatively easy to remove and re-position, even on another enclosure if need be. I know the manufacturer advises against this, but if you peel it off slow and carefully, there shouldn't be an issue (especially if you are using correctly in the first place* see second paragraph). I have used the same heat pads for years on multiple enclosures as needed, of course, using a rheostat.

Also, the manufacturer recommends only using these pads on glass tanks. However, I have pushed the envelope and used them on plastic tubs and other non-glass caging. I have never had any major warping or overheating because I use a rheostat. I'm not suggesting anyone attempt this; I'm only saying I have good success using these pads on non-glass caging using the ZooMed rheostat.

I genuinely feel that if one follows the directions well, especially regarding raising the bottom of the enclosure and using a thermostat of some kind (both of which the instructions advise), they will not have issues with this product.

Recap...if you just let the bottom of the cage rest on & pinch the cord of the heat pad, you WILL have problems. If you try using this heat pad to heat an aquatic tank filled with water, you WILL have problems. If you choose not to use a thermostat, definitely check the basking area routinely with a thermometer to make sure the heat pad is staying at the optimal temperature.

Another thing is that for most caging, it is recommended that the heat pad should only occupy 25-30% of the bottom surface area of the enclosure. Remember to use this advice when choosing the right size for your reptile and caging. And if the heat pad is the right size for your cage, but your reptile is too large to warm itself on it, then its time to upgrade the caging!

I have been using this heater for a few years and it works amazing, it keeps my snake happy and when coupled with a rheostat maintains a constant 70F. That's right you need a RHEOSTAT. This, like EVERY OTHER heat pad in the price range, does not have a temperature control. A rheostat is only about $20 and is REQUIRED. If you don't understand this you shouldn't have a reptile as you will just cook it.

The one thing that I really don't like is that it can NOT be removed without destroying it. I recently bought a new tank and thus need to buy a new heat pad.

Highly recommended for the longevity factor, but make sure you research even just a smidgen on how to set up a terrarium or you will kill your animal.

**Side note: In order to save all the spiders out there also, do not use this as a bottom mat if you have spiders. This will need to be mounted on the side of the tank for arachnids as they have a common tendency to hide underground if it starts getting to warm, and you will end up cooking it.

Ok, when trying to decide which size to order, I had to wonder what was up as it looked to me the large listed as 9.7 x 10.6, and the medium 15.1 x 8.0. This didn't make sense.

So, I ordered the medium ... and as it turns out ... the PACKAGE is 15 x 8, but the pad itself is 11 3/4 inches by 8 inches.

Come on Amazon ... package size tells us nothing!

How about listing the correct pad sizes for us folks trying to buy from you?

And the wattage would also be something useful to know.

This is the RH5 ASIN: B0002AQCL4 rated at 16 watts, suitable for a 30 to 40 gallon tank.

As for rating these pads ...

last one worked for a couple of years ...

although as it heats, it tends to come loose from the bottom.

Adding a little heat resistant tape to the edges seems to help keep it in place.

So I'll give it 4 stars. I'll upgrade that to 5 if/when the specs are corrected. ;)

This is the perfect size pad for my tanks and my ball pythons love them. It doesn't have an adjustable thermostat but doesn't heat up too hot to where it's burning my snakes. Every time I've order on it has arrived on a timely fashion aswell. Awesome product and Aswesome price compared to the pet store prices!! Can't go wrong!

I bought this product and it arrived shortly after order date of Feb.26th. It's May 17th and it's not working!

A reptile heater is suppose to heat under tank. But this lasted less than three months.

Imagine paying the price for this, that lasted less than three months, so as to keep your reptile heated for a full year. Tank heater price X 4 purchases!

And me? I recycled the package a week after purchase thinking this would last as long as the first Zoo Med under tank heater I bought over 8 years ago and that's just starting to lose it's full heating capacity. Which is why I bought this as a back up and eventual replacement.

Now I'm out the money and bound to spend more. But it sure won't be on a Zoo Med undertank heater. The old style was superior. But this one isn't even good enough for the trash.

Save your money! And your reptile from a defective product!

*Edit* Having reviewed this many one star comments concerning the personal experience others have had with this product it reminds me of a defective processor that was installed in factory in my first computer, a Gateway. Turns out, and this after three years of pursuing satisfaction, the company knew they had obtained defective processors but installed them in Gateway PC towers anyway. Ultimately the company VP sent me a new tower in exchange for my defective one.

I'm thinking this is what's happening here with this sellers under tank Zoo Med heaters. They could have purchased seconds, or defective heaters that Zoo Med wouldn't sell directly from their on line site and that is why they're so much cheaper than Zoo Med on line or any local retailers. Rather than toss them in the rubbish Zoo Med made something of a profit chucking them off on the unsuspecting sellers and the sellers thought they got a good deal. Meanwhile they all made some sort of profit and we the retail buyer are screwed!

Pathetic! Zoo Med's reputation should be better than this either way.

Tank Terrace® Corner Terrace Kit for Aquariums & Terrariums

Tank TerraceĀ® Corner Terrace Kit for Aquariums & TerrariumsWhen I ordered this I was under the assumption that this was an aquatic like shelf. Was very excited to spice it up with some plant decortion and allow my fish a place to explore. However, the only consern I have with this product is how sharp all the edges are. WOW! Like really sharp and I have fancy tailed gold fish with the large fan tails, so I can't put this in my tank, due to their fragile fis. Otherwise this is a nice product, offers a varity of options on how to put in your tank.

First off, the concept is amazing but there are many design flaws. The product is not the same color as pictured. The edges are VERY sharp. The suction cups last a month or so, then the whole terrace collapses. I would recommend this on the basis that you intend to be inventive with it. I've managed to keep the terrace standing up using a short piece of driftwood in the back corner and a zoomed floating betta log positioned underneath the terrace then weighted down with a cichlid stone, gravel, and river rocks. Be very prepared for collapses if you purchase this. I filed down the sharp edges with a basic metal nail file but it was time consuming. You may want to buy a battery operated nail file if you intend to dull it down some. I believe this may be dead stock from the 80's but I'm not sure. In all honesty, you could make a better terrace yourself with some flat stones and aquarium safe silicon cement.

Would not recommend this product. It cut one of my Corydoras so badly that it died. Looking into filing the points or building my own terrace. Only gave it two stars because it does look fairly nice. Also there are almost no instructions, you have to figure out assembly on your own.

Just bought this for my turtles and was really let down. I was hoping to create an underwater resting area for my turtles, but the edges were so sharp, and i didn't want to damage their skin. This may work great for fish, but if you want to buy this for a turtle, i wouldn't.

I should start this review by saying I use this for my hermit crabs. They love to climb and they absolutely love this. If they could rate this product, they would give it a 5.

For me, this thing is a bit of a difficulty. The suction cups don't work as well as I would like and they have a hard time staying on. If you intend to put anything on it that will weight down the platform, then it has a really difficult time staying up. I actually had to put something beneath it so that it could handle the weight. I imagine that in water that might be a different story, but if you intend to use this for land, that is my experience.

The platform was a darker brown than I thought and it def. has a plastic look, however, for the price and purpose that's not a problem and once decorated it looks great! I won't buy another one, but it has done a pretty good job and I don't mind having to put something underneath it.

TOM Aquarium Overflow Box with Auto Start and Stop, Hosing incl.

TOM Aquarium Overflow Box with Auto Start and Stop, Hosing incl.I just got this. I did not know that this is not a stand alone unit. It is suppose to be attached to a sump unit that has a pump made to match this. So I have a refugium and a pump but was looking for an "awesome" overflow box. I was misinformed. I don't know if it was me or the way the product was discribed. I see how the "auto start and stop" would have worked if it was attached to the sump pump and tightened with a hose clamp but without the other unit (which cost like $250+), I don't have an overflow box with all the bells and whistles. Hope my information helps others like me. If you are a aquarium guru who knew better than me, than this is my mistake.

UpdateOkay. This unit sucks. Now that I took it apart to see how it works, I can clearly say it could have been made better. Save your money. This unit is made with weak plastic (yes, I considered that many aquatic products are made weak and costs a lot but this is weaker). For $100, it should be stronger, designed better and easy to take apart. I did not break mine but even the instruction book warns about breaking it while taking it apart to clean it. Then I realized two of the parts are very hard to remove. I gave this unit a good try and was disappointed.

Let me say this, if your tank isnt drilled and you want something that does the trick in both a compact and quiet way this is your overflow box. I had the Eshopps PF300 and couldnt deal with the noise, even when I used the modification tips. That thing made all sorts of noises and it was a real pain to get working. This thing is awesome, you simply plumb it (mine wasnt shipped with hoses but i had my own so didnt complain or request them), pour a little water in the resevoir and start your pump. Power goes out no problem, i tested it a bunch of times to be sure it would start back up. Compact no question in and out in the same box cant be beat. Adjustable outlet could be a little better but you are supposed to have powerheads in a reef or saltwater set up so this isnt even an issue worth complaining about. Very adjustable when it comes to water level, I can drop my tank almost 2 inches or I can raise it to the brim, each adjustment can be fine tuned easily. Each click up or down takes about 20-30 seconds to see the change in water level.

Eheim Universal Aquarium Water Pump 630GPH

Eheim Universal Aquarium Water Pump 630GPHVery quiet. Had it running for about 1 year.

No problems at all. No noise.

Easy to clean.

Just need to watch out for the small black ring around the shaft. One of them fell off (and I could not find it), and I had to buy another full shaft.

I got this eheim to replace my mag 5 that was running virtually silently for several years as a return pump for my aquarium sump because the mag 5 started to vibrate very loudly after I used it to drain my basement after a flood. The eheim is actually louder than the mag 5 it replaced. I think I may have just received a bad pump, but would think that if I paid over twice the amount for the eheim than the mag 5 that quality control would be better. The eheim is a very strong pump, however, I just wish that it was as silent as the reviews state.

Laguna PowerGlo LED Mini Pond Light Kit with 2-Pack 40-Bulb LED Lights

Laguna PowerGlo LED Mini Pond Light Kit with 2-Pack 40-Bulb LED LightsUse this for my fountain in the front yard. It really lights it up nice, the photo cell works well, comes on at dusk and off at dawn. Lots of cord too.

I purchased this product to light up a waterfall I built at night. First the good:

*Long cords make it easy to hide cords while placing lights wherever you want. This is both from the plug itself plus between the two lights.

*Bright enough to really light up the area.

*Quick connects make it really easy to install and use without any alterations.

Things that could have been used to improve this product:

*I personally would have preferred a softer whitish blue light or maybe even some filters to turn it to a light blue color. While these do a great job lighting the waterfall, they are definitely a yellow white color which is harsher than I would like. (not marking off due to the fact that they did a great job advertising and I knew this when I purchased)

*While these will sit on the ground or a flat ledge just fine, I wish there was something on the bottom to secure the lights if you wanted them at a specific angle. Maybe a little plastic jutting out with a pre-drilled screw hole on two sides so you could screw it into a angled board or zip tie it to a pipe?

*While the lights do adjust, they will only move back in forth on set patterns rather than fully moveable which means you might be slightly off as you cannot stop it anywhere on the swivel....

Overall, this was a great product that I would recommend to someone building a waterfall. I have not had any options with the light sensor or lights going out while submerged but will update my review if this happens.

Lights are fine but hooked to a timer (not included) because after the third night of activation, the unit failed.

Light are working OK and doing what was described.

When I called the vendor, I was told to put everything back into its original box and they would repair or replace.

I spent several hours installing/threading wires from the outlet to the transformer on to the lights (cosmetic purist)

did not want to go through the same routine in reverse and then reinstall the new/repaired unit once returned to me.

Since the customer service tech seemed not to accept that I simply return the detachable ON/Off Light sensor unit

"because policy is that the lights must be returned in the package theycame in" and that was that; I insisted on speaking

to her supervisor, who seemed emminently more reasonable and said she woul try to find a replacement Light Sensor.

All that transpired two weeks ago, and I'm still without the sensor.

Moral of the story: Only buy this Pond Light Kit if you can use it without the ON/OFF dusk to dawn feature. Most lower

end sensors, if they fail will do so within days of first use, if that works in your intended application, then go for it.

These were a real find! They come with two submersible lights with a daylight sensor (on at dusk off at dawn) and a long cord. The lighting is bright but not over-powering. Perfect mood lighting in a mid-size fountain. They sit on the bottom without any need to mount or clip them. By day they are inconspicuous and unobtrusive. A great product.

Python Brass Adapter for Aquarium

Python Brass Adapter for AquariumCleaning my aquarium is much easier with this product and and the brass adapter is very durable and resists stripping.

If I had known that Python now ships with a brass adapter I wouldn't have ordered one bowever it's always good to have a back up and I keep it for my tanks that are on a different level of the house.

Python has been around for just about as long as I've been keeping fish which is over 35 years. I haven't used one in decades but decided to get a new one and check out the improvments. Not much has changed but the brass adapter is a major step up from the old plastic one. Those wouldn't last very long, the threads would strip away entriley after a few uses an the seal was never complete enough to stop water from spraying everyplace but it STILL beat carrying around those buckets!

This adpater is pretty universal and should fit most any faucet. Theres amale and female side, if you have a diffuser or water saver on your faucet simply remove it and pop this one in and you're good to go.

Mardel Quick-Cure Aquarium Treatment, 4-Ounce

Mardel Quick-Cure Aquarium Treatment, 4-OunceThis product promotes itself as a fast cure for ich and other parasites, and from my experience it is a very effective treatment. I can't vouch for its claim to cure ich in two days in all cases, but it is a rather fast-working product.

I like that this product is not as harsh a treatment as the wide-spectrum antibiotic preparations that people too often use for fish diseases. While it seems natural to reach for strong microbials when your fish are sick, it can stress out your fish even more, making things worse. QuICK Cure cures ich without resorting to antibiotics.

As with all ich treatment regimes, this works better if you raise the aquarium temperatures and keep the hood lights off. That will help speed along the ich parasite's life cycle and keep your fish in a quiet healing state.

Other caveats you have to remove the carbon from your aquarium filters before adding the treatment drops, or it won't work at all.

You will need to use the smaller recommended dose with tetras. Thin-skinned fishes, like the catfishes, botias and loaches must actually be removed, since the malachite green in the medication is too readily absorbed and becomes toxic to them.

QuICK Cure comes in a small dropper squeezy container. A 4 oz bottle treats thousands of gallons, which is a lot of ich. In other words, this one product should last your lifetime! Remember not to over-treat; use only the amount recommended per gallon. This product will turn your water blue and will dye anything else it touches. Be careful not to let this stuff touch you too much, since formalin is a cancer-causing agent.

If you have a big ich infestation, I recommend using this medication. Make sure to use it correctly, of course! For a small ich outbreak, you might want to just try high temps, no lights and massive water changes first.

This product KILLED my Betta OVERNIGHT.

I bought this my Betta who was suffering from Ich. I read all the instructions and warnings, and followed them to the letter. My poor fish seemed happier when I put him in the new, treated water, and after a few hours (I went to the grocery store) it seemed that the parasites were in fact coming off. As I went to bed, I noticed his fins were a little black at the edges, and thought that maybe it was fin rot, in which case I would buy more medication for him the next day. This morning I woke to find my Betta completely chemically burned. His fins were entirely black, and I wasn't able to save him. The chemical burn was so bad, that it continued to burn him after I put him in fresh water. He died within 15 hours of using this product.

I did some online searching, turns out, Formalin (#1 ingredient in this product), is highly toxic to Bettas, and I should have only let him be in the solution for a max of 1 hour. Wish that had been on the warning label (It says "Do not use on Baby Whales, Elephant Nose, Shrimps, Snails, living rocks or invertebrates.")

Don't buy this for your Betta. It is a slow and miserable deterioration. I am sure that this product works well for other fish, and customer service was very nice, but please, don't kill you Betta.

I am by no means an aquarium expert. When my son noticed our Oscar fish was covered with little white dots, I simply googled "little white dots on fish", I came to the diagnosis of Ick. I went to my local pet store and asked them what's best for ick, and they told me they use Quick Cure in their own tanks.

Within 1 week of use, my fish are clear of all signs of ick. Needless to say we're very happy, and I would definitely recommend this product. It's cheap, easy, and it works.

After reading the other review saying it killed the reviewer's betta fish overnight, I decided not to try this product and instead use the heat and salt method. However, after a couple of days without improvement and more research, I found that this formula malachite green and formalin is actually very commonly recommended for use with betta fish. I went ahead and bought this product, and now, six days later, my betta fish is completely healed! I decided to treat the maximum length of time because I waited so long to start treatment, but I probably could have stopped treating after three days. I just wanted to be extra sure that there would be no re-infection, and so far, so good!

Unfortunately, I think there must have been another issue with the other reviewer's betta fish, as mine has reacted very well to the treatment. I can highly recommend this medicine to knock out ich quickly!

I had a very minor outbreak of Ich (only a couple of fish had any signs at all) so I was fortunate to catch it early. I medicated at half strength for 5 days which killed all the Ich in the tank. I also turned the heat up gradually over 2 days to 85 degrees and left it hotter than usual for about a week. The heat helps to kill the Ich larvae.

Jardin Plastic Fish Tank Aquarium Plant Decoration, 11.4-Inch, Green

Jardin Plastic Fish Tank Aquarium Plant Decoration, 11.4-Inch, GreenI bought this product to use alongside some less expensive and taller pieces of the same color. When I first took this bush out of the packaging, it didn't really look any different from the cheaper plants I had bought. So, I was a bit disappointed because the height of the branches were all the same and it didn't look as natural as the picture. However, after two days I love how it looks and it looks exactly like the picture now. The branches are much more spread out and it looks very very natural in my dark tank. Please note, the base of the jardin products is the most high quality in the industry. I love Jardin decorations in part due to the weight and attachments of the base holding the plant in place. I would order this product again with no hesitation. It really adds beauty to my tank. As you can tell, I am very pleased with this product and Amazon Prime free two day shipping made it even better.

Instant Ocean Aquarium Hydrometer

Instant Ocean Aquarium HydrometerI'm using this to measure low salinity in brackish tanks and for salt ich treatments. One thing to remember....the directions say rinse Before and After....BUT when you rinse it in tap water, there are many drops of fresh water still in the instrument...if you dip it in tank water and take a measure, you will get a LOW reading....so dump that first sample after a minute or so...Then dip Another sample and you will have an accurate reading every time. This is a very good hydrometer for the money. Many buy expensive refractometers or resistive types which can also deceive you for a number of reasons.

When kept clean and when you dump the first scoop of water and slowly allow the water to enter so that there are no bubbles on the weighted gauge, and when the water temperature is in the high 70's, the reading is very accurate. I have recently purchased a temperature compensated refractometer from Bulk Reef Supply along with calibration fluid. I compared the readings using this hygrometer and the calibrated refractometer. The readings were identical.

Finnex 50-Watt Hang-On Digital Controller Aquarium Heater, Titanium Tube, 10 to 20-Gallon

Finnex 50-Watt Hang-On Digital Controller Aquarium Heater, Titanium Tube, 10 to 20-GallonActually, I'd give this 4.5 stars.

Keeps my 10 gallon tank within 1-2 degrees as advertised and seems sturdy enough to last a long time.

What I did not know from the product description and pictures on Amazon is that this unit also has a separate wired temperature sensor which also needs to be placed into the tank along with the heating element (but located far enough away from it so as not to be reading too high). So you actually have 3 pieces of equipment all connected together.

Also, the two suction cups on the heating element, while clinging to the glass with ease, tend to slide around with the gentlest of pressure. If you want to place your heating element just right you will have to be very careful not to move the cords or disturb anything that touches it.

Pros:

Solidly built

Keeps temp to within 2 degrees

No glass parts to crack

Separate sensor placed away from heater gives a more accurate reading

Digital readout of current temperature

High temperature safety shut-off feature

Cons:

Separate sensor is just another thing that will take up space in a small tank (albiet it is small itself)

Suction cups on heater slide on glass easily if disturbed

Main cord to heating element could be a bit longer

So far, this heater has been stable holding temps on my Eheim Aquastyle 9 tank (rimless design). Setting seems easy enough.

My only concern is that in my application the cable that goes into the tank for the heating unit itself is fairly thick and causes the glass lid for my particular tank to not sit flat. I've lost a couple of shrimp that climbed over the edge due to this. I'm in the process of creating a new top cover that will have a notch for the heater cable so that the cover can sit closer to the edge of the glass and hopefully avoid any more escapee issues.

I think the product could be slightly improved by using a flat power cable like the heater that I upgraded from used.

My situation is probably not common, so for most tanks this seems like a very good product.

This worked great -for as long as it worked. Suddenly after 6 months, it burned out: The middle of the heating element is now black. Since it has only a 180 day warranty, we were out of luck. the manufacturer offered to replace component parts of it for a fee -but we would have to ship the unit back to them and we couldn't leave the tank without a heater. So we replaced it with a $10 heater that has a two-year warranty, so that heater could go out three times in a year and we'd still come out comparitively ahead. I'm extremely disappointed in this unit and manufacturer.

biUbe Pure Aquarium with Halogen Light, Clear, 9 Gallons

biUbe Pure Aquarium with Halogen Light, Clear, 9 GallonsI wanted to buy a small aquarium for my bedroom so after doing some research, I decided on a Reef One Aquarium. I really wanted the biOrb Life 45 for the extra gallons and the fact that it doesn't distort the fish, but decided against it because I thought it wasn't worth the price. So, I got the biUbe and I am very satisfied.

I have had aquariums since I was young, and though I am no expert by any means, I know that the bigger the tank, the easier it is to maintain. The problem is, I really couldn't fit anything too big in my little bedroom so I thought this aquarium would be perfect and it is. When doing my research, some people advised against these kinds of aquariums, but the people who actually have the tank don't really have too many complaints about them. As long as you're patient and follow directions, you shouldn't have a problem.

I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of:

1.) The pump that comes with the aquarium is very loud and annoying. If you are putting your tank in a room with lots of white noise, then this shouldn't be a problem, but in a bedroom all I hear is a loud buzzing noise coming from the pump. I immediately replaced the pump with a different brand that produced less noise. Although most air pumps do submit some noise, compared to the one by Reef One, the new one is way better.

2.) The pump that comes with the tank is not known to last very long and requires a replacement within 6 months to a year (some people say less, they even tell you to keep a spare pump for this reason in the book). Do yourself a favor and just purchase the Tetra Whisper 10 gallon air pump here on amazon for $9.99. It's cheaper than biOrb's pump, last longer, and not as noisy. I bought 2 for that price.

3.) Reef One wants you to replace the filter too often and this can be pricey. Talk to some people who have had their biOrb for a while and they will tell you how to prolong the filter pad life.

4.) The aquarium is made of acrylic. While acrylic is much stronger than glass, it scratches so easily. Just be careful not to use anything to rough like paper towels or a rag. I brought a few microfiber clothes to clean the aquarium.

The above things are miner and can definitely be worked around. Just keep in mind that pretty much any aquarium smaller than a 20 or 30 gallon requires a little more time and effort.

Having known all this before I purchased my biUbe, I absolutely love my tank! It is very beautiful and doesn't take up too much room in my small bedroom because of its shape.

P.S. The title for the biUbe from amazon.com wrong. It actually comes with the biOrb Intelligent LED light not the halogen light.

UPDATE: Well, I have been having the tank for a few months now and I love it even more everyday. I actually prefer it over the biOrb Life 60, which I also have. I am up to 4 fish now (please follow the directions in only adding 1 or 2 small fish per month, otherwise your tank can crash, killing the fish, and go through a mini cycle if the bio-load gets too overwhelmed). I added a small internal filter behind my bubble tube cover just for some added filtration. If you are worried about the fish being distorted, it's really not that bad at all. You still get a very good view of the fish when they come swimming around. Remember, small tanks take a little more patience, so don't be in a hurry to get a full stock right after your tank is done cycling. Take your time and enjoy!

Most little tanks look like they belong on a 9 year old's night stand. This one, thankfully, does not. It is artistic in it's design but it does not hinder you from actually keeping fish. I have it on a little table in my office and it's just the right amount of size for that space.

Simple to put to together, and very low-maintenance. It takes about 5-10 minutes a week to do a water change. Changing the filter is a snap -just pull out the tube and twist off the filter. Put the new one on and put it back. That's it.

I have a heater in mine so i can keep tropical fish. Doesn't take too big of one to heat this baby.

The vertical configuration makes it slightly tricky to get decor to work right, but i've found that the smaller stuff works just fine if you plan it right.

The LED lights that come with this are awesome. You can set it to many different settings of timing for your sunrise/sunset routine. The weirdest thing is that it goes from 8 hrs to 14 hrs of daylight for a choice with nothing in between. But the light really enhances the fish -and the pure clear outside allows them to really show up well.

I've seen a few reviews on amazon (for other colors) that were so negative it's hard to believe it's the same item. People blaming the Biube for killing their fish? Really? It's a plastic tube with a pump and rocks. The only issues i've had were smaller fish trying to dig into the rocks for food and getting stuck as the rocks are like volcanic rock and not small smooth pebbles. This is to enhance the natural bio filter.

Anyway I highly recommend this tank. I want to get another one.

The clear plexiglass of this tank makes it almost transparent, so you can see the fish really well. Since it has less filtering (out of the box) than a regular tank, it is important not to overload it with too many (or too large) fish. I modified it by using smaller gravel over the rocks that come with it, because the rocks (which are necessary for the biological filter) are quite ugly and excess food gets trapped in it. I also added a small Tom filter (the smallest one, it's only
