Marina 3-in-1 Guppy Trap

Marina 3-in-1 Guppy Traptotal waste of money tried it with many tanks and fish they all where cramped even the tetras the fry/egg slide trap is laughable and has to be removed to be used as any type isolation unit

I purchased this for my live breeder tank and the instructions describe exactly what i am looking for however i am afraid that the holes in the bottom of the trap might actually be too big and allow babies out. my larger fry stay fine but they were already a few weeks old. This is one of the smaller breeder traps available if that helps anyone.

This breeder box, like the title says, isn't the best breeder box but it's also not the worst. It is a little too small for fish like mollies and plates, but works well for guppies. The holes in the bottom are a little too big and smaller fry can fit through so I put some fine mesh in the bottom and it works fine.

The guppy trap floats well. The holes in the bottom allow some circulation. The insert installs and removes easily. Nice product.

This floating "3 in 1" is supposed to make a breeding honeymoon suite, an isolation ward for timeouts for nippers, and a nursery for the new born fry of livebearers. I would give it a thumbs up on 2 of the uses, but baby guppy fry just swim right through the slits in the very bottom of the tank. I have used it for all three "traps" and found it to be excellent as a breeding tank to give your favorite couple their own private hideaway. And it seemed to have cured the swordtail that was going kind of crazy nipping at everybody. A week in solitary seemed to have cured him of that. At least for now. And as far as separating the momma from the babies, it does that well too. If that was a far as it went, I would love this Marina 3 in 1, however there are those wide slits at the bottom of the tank.

Those slits in the bottom of the tank though are large enough for blue delta guppy fry to swim right through and possibly get eaten by one of the adult fish in the tank. I don't know how many fry she had altogether, but there are at least six baby guppies hiding out in the plants, both living and fake.

I still like the product and would recommend it to friends. My favorite thing about it is that it floats and does not need to be fastened to an air line.
