Lee's Pet Products ALE12405 Check Air Flow Valve for Aquraium Pumps, 1-Blister Card

Lee's Pet Products ALE12405 Check Air Flow Valve for Aquraium Pumps, 1-Blister CardBought for a project on an under-sink soap dispenser that kept loosing its prime. Kept soap in tube rather than flowing back into soap bottle as expected. Works as advertised, check flow. Buy one, or two........recommended.

First off the air in side is nice and tight however the outlet side is loose, bought 2 of these 1 broke trying to remove the air inlet hose so I had to super glue it back together the air outlet side is so loose that your hose will fall off half the time. Not worth the cost, going to try some other ones.

Aqua Tech HEX 5 #5 EZ Change Aquarium Replacement Filter Cartridge 3-pack

Aqua Tech HEX 5 #5 EZ Change Aquarium Replacement Filter Cartridge 3-packIt works like it should. When it comes to filters, that's what it should be. The only real con is that they are more expensive than other filters.

Easy to use and keeps my aquarium for my betta fish nice and clean. All I have to do is monitor how dirty it get and pop another fresh filter.

Aquarius AQ11204 BettaView Brite Corner Tank

Aquarius AQ11204 BettaView Brite Corner TankI should state before hand that I don't own this particular aquarium and so I can't testify to the quality of this item, and that I'm writing from experience and research.

Contrary to popular belief, Bettas don't live in puddles in the wild; They live in vast rice paddies which are thousands of gallons of naturally filtrated and aerated water. They only live in small puddles for about 2 or 3 months out of the year.

What's more, fancy bettas are not very similar to their wild buddies; they prefer larger aquariums with more stimulation, like plants and hiding places (maybe even compatible buddies?).

When I was 12 I bought two bettas and put them into separate small novelty tanks because I was told that was all they wanted or needed. Then at 13, I bought 1 more and put it into an old 3 gallon tank with filtration and aeration.

I saw the difference immediately; He was happier, healthier, moved more, more responsive, more alert, reacted when i came near the tank to clean or feed or watch him...Just absolutely happy. When I saw the difference I bought 2 and 3 gallon tanks and put the other two into them and they perked up as well! Whats more, the boy I initially put into the 3 gallon tank lived a whole year longer than the others!

This aquarium says 1 gallon at the top, and suggests putting two Bettas into it (With the divider).

Putting two bettas close together will stress them out. What's more, any illness one has can potentially be passed on to the other. Finally, if you put in two bettas, you might not be able to put in plants, which Bettas like to rest and sleep on (or at least mine and a few of my buddies' did).

I would buy this tank as a Isolation, Quarantine, or hospital tank though; it's small enough to easily treat a separated fish, you can measure out smaller amounts of medicine (I've done Epsom salt treatments on my guppies before in these sort of tanks, and it's easier in a 1 gallon than a 10 gallon and usually uses less medicine if its measured by the gallon). What's more, I think it would be OK to put a single, aggressive male guppy in if he can't be put back into the community tank (personal experience also), or to house some fry (but not many) in. Best of all, this tank is VERY affordable.

I might even buy this as a "between tanks" tank, when I'm prepping another tank for the fish.

But as a permanent house for a Betta? Never. 3 gallons or larger.

I got this aquarium at the flea market it came with everything but fish and the divider.

I had a guppy and a catfish then my guppy died

I thenk a biger aquarium

AG 2.5 GAL MINI BOW KIT-BLUE

AG 2.5 GAL MINI BOW KIT-BLUEI bought my mini-bow aquarium in 2002 and have enjoyed it a lot. I have never had any problems with it and would recommend this for any beginner or breeder who needs a "baby" tank. I have a bigger tank as well but this is my favorite as it is a lot easier to clean :-)

I've only had this tank for a week, but I've noticed a few things. I have two male Bettas in it with the divider;they seem content with the space (1.25gal is okay for each Betta). They spend about 30% of their time trying to get around/through the divider so they can beat each other up (or hang out?-see end story), but at least that stimulates them.

The filter is large and takes up about 15-20% of the tank, so the one of the bettas is more cramped than the other (I will eventually upgrade the filter). Also, when the filter was on "high", it created too much current/water flow and it sucked up their food before they had a chance to eat it the "medium" setting seems to work fine.

**** Important *** If you need to use the divider, you have to be careful about moving/handling the tank a small amount of pressure on the tank distorts its shape enough to move the placement of the divider. This is an easy problem to fix you can see if the divider has moved out of its groove at the top and you can slide it back. But when I switched the filter from high to medium, I apparently handled the tank enough to move the divider out of place, so there was a small space in the front (the bow shape contributes to this problem)*** Here's the funny part, when I lowered the filter rate, I also switched the slightly larger betta to the side of tank without the filter and the smaller one to the filter side. The next morning they had switched themselves back! My husband was so freaked out he woke me up. We thought they had jumped to the other sides, but then we saw the blue Betta slip between the front of the tank and the divider to the other side. I panicked because I thought they were going to fight before I moved the one back, but they didn't. And when they switched sides, they had to have crossed paths, but they don't appear to have fought. If I didn't know better, I'd say they've gotten downright chummy. So just check the divider when you clean or move the tank.

I have 3 zebra danos and some live plants in my tank, and have had it set-up since June 2007. I removed the filter it came with since it took up 1/5 of the aquarium space, but if you have fish that love to poo, you might want to leave it in there. Instead I use a Red Sea nano filter (with another manufacturer's carbon filter) and it keeps the tank sparkling.

Change the water once a week (about half of it) and don't over feed your fishies and the tank will be perfect.

My main issue is this that is comes with a filter that is too big for the tank and the hood will not go on properly. Any sort of of fish that jumps could be in danger in this tank due to a small opening in the back. I've only had this tank for a few weeks but I definately will buy a new, smaller filter soon, other wise the fish I keep in there are fine and the tank is adequate for a few small fish.

I bought this aquarium for my betta and I just love it. It is very cute, and the light provides the perfect temperature 76 degrees of water. My betta really loves it too. I've never seen him so active! He has the perfect amount of space in the right temperature water, and the filter is quiet and works very well. My only complaint is that the top of the aquarium (lid) is not the best quality. It also says it's suitable for two betta fish, with a divider that you can use to separate them. However, split in two, the space is very limited for the fish to swim, so really this is a one-betta tank. Don't get it for two bettas. I do recommend it though. Super low maintenance, great price, and your betta or other fish will be very happy!

Microbe-Lift Algaway 5.4 Algae Control for Fresh Water Home Aquariums

Microbe-Lift Algaway 5.4 Algae Control for Fresh Water Home Aquariums, 16-OunceI thought at first the product didn't work, however after using it as directed for a few weeks, the algae is very much disappearing and under control. I couldn't see it at first the first week or so, but now, it clearly works well and my freshwater fish do not seem at all to be affected. It's hard to dose individual drops iwth the spout provided, though, but if the stuff works I'll deal with the dosing of the water!

I am using it for my pond over the last 2 years and it is doing a great job, I am very happy.

EHEIM Everyday Fish Feeder Programmable Automatic Food Dispenser

EHEIM Everyday Fish Feeder Programmable Automatic Food DispenserI had tried some of the other auto feeders on the market that rotate constantly on a single AA battery clock mechanism. None of them worked for me.

I purchased this after a friend of mine had the same one on his tank for over 1.5 years. It has also worked beautifully for me too. The digital display is easy to set if you follow the instruction sheet.

I also like the fact that it has a manual feed button, so I can provide a feeding whenever I want to without disrupting the preset times.

I spent a lot of money on the cheaper units and after getting frustrated every time, I finally bought this one and couldn't be happier.

I own 3 Eheim Everyday Fish Feeders. They are also called air feeders due to a fan used to feed air into the food containter when it activates, to help keep the food fresh. I run a home aquaponics system and so have various tanks to raise fingerlings before they go into my aquaponics tanks. This feeder is the only unit I use for these indoor tanks, though I use a professional US made super-feed feeder in my outdoor grow tank.

I highly recommend the Eheim brand and this particular feeder. I will comment on why I recommend this and then some special handling items.

First, as I mentioned I have three of these units. Two are run 24/7. These units are reliable, last between 1-2 weeks for feeding capacity (different sized fish supplied by each one), and built very well. The built well comes from the fact that one unit has fallen into the tank twice. Immediate recovery, turn off, then air drying of the internals was sufficient for the unit to operate as good as new. I have used these units for 8 months now without problem. They do come with a sticky backed velcro mount so that they are not prone to fall into the tank. I use those on the one that likes the water.

I have had problems with only one unit after about 20 days of first operation where it lost its programming, and upon replacing the batteries it operated for a few days and completely died. This occurred with use out of box, it was not dropped into the water :-) and it was used as recommended. I emailed Eheim, and was advised to return it to their factory or an authorized service center. I returned it to Eheim's Montreal office with a copy of the email and they sent a fixed unit back about 4 weeks later. So, this is why I also recommend the brand. Nothing is perfect, and when I got one lemon out of three -they fixed it.

On using these units:

* you must calibrate the feeder so that on an average run it feeds the amount you want -that is, weigh or measure the amount fed after 10 consecutive runs and then determine what the average is for each feed -it is a simple mechanical feed mechanism -this is why it is reliable -so it is not exact. Your fish are not exact either, they can eat a bit less sometimes.

* once you know how much to open the feeder, mark it with a permanent marker -you need to close it to refill, so this way you will know where to open it back to

* you can run the feeder up to 4 different times a day, and each time can have an optional second feed a minute after the first

* I grow tilapia, so I feed my fish only what they will completely eat in 2 minutes

* the unit is heavy on the side towards the water when it is full -when doing tank maintenance, remove it so it out of the way (obvious, but I did drop one unit twice)

* if your unit goes for a swim: take it out immediately, remove and discard the batteries, keep the battery door off and gently blow dry the unit. Dispose of wet food and clean out the food compartment. Once you are certain everything is DRY, then put fresh batteries in and reprogram the unit.

* when using the unit for the first time, allow a week (before you go on vacation) to ensure it is operating fine and feeding the way and amount you want -don't just set it up the night before you leave -this way you will see how long your feed lasts also

* the feeder does dispense less when it nears empty -but again, fish adapt

* I only use the unit with pellet food one feeder has a mix of 1/8" and 3/16" pellets, the second feeder has fingerling powder

Good luck!

I use all eheim brand equipments for my fish tank because they are the best. So it was a no brainer to get an eheim feeder. However this thing is a complete disaster for small food/pellets used to feed little fish such as neon tetra etc.. The feeding sliding door is VERY cheap and badly design, it's loose and doesnt allow fine control. So you either dumps no food because the opening is too small or dump a tons of food messing up the water params.

Even worse when I went on vacation i set the feeding door to a small size just to be safe since too much food will cause a mini cycle + ammonia spike, which is far worse than feeding lesser amount to the fish for a few days. But when i came back my tank is completely full of food, the cheap sliding door of this feeder gradually opened up on its own while in operation. Luckily I have a very heavily planted tank with a lot of fast grower stem plants that are able to absorb the excess nutrients, so a complete disaster was avoided.

The sad part is the feed itself looks to be reliable and solid, just eheim decided to skimp on the most important part of the feed the sliding door that controls the feeding amount.

Works as advertised except there's a major problem......I use pelletized food and feed 12 pellets three times daily, the design of this feeder does not drop the same amount of food each time it cycles. Once adjusted, it can drop anywhere from 4-15 pellets per feeding. You have an opening, which you adjust to allow a certain amount of food to be dispensed each cycle, but pellets can jam in the opening. If i open it further, way too many pellets come out. The only solution I came up with was to run it for three days into a pie plate until I averaged the proper number of pellets on a daily basis. I would really not recommend it for pelletized food.

This is the best automatic aquarium feeder. Over the years I have owned many for multiple aquariums. I have used the feeder with flakes, pellets and both depending on my needs. I have never had any problems with clogging or food sticking.

Marina 3-in-1 Guppy Trap

Marina 3-in-1 Guppy Traptotal waste of money tried it with many tanks and fish they all where cramped even the tetras the fry/egg slide trap is laughable and has to be removed to be used as any type isolation unit

I purchased this for my live breeder tank and the instructions describe exactly what i am looking for however i am afraid that the holes in the bottom of the trap might actually be too big and allow babies out. my larger fry stay fine but they were already a few weeks old. This is one of the smaller breeder traps available if that helps anyone.

Buy Marina 3-in-1 Guppy Trap Now

This breeder box, like the title says, isn't the best breeder box but it's also not the worst. It is a little too small for fish like mollies and plates, but works well for guppies. The holes in the bottom are a little too big and smaller fry can fit through so I put some fine mesh in the bottom and it works fine.

The guppy trap floats well. The holes in the bottom allow some circulation. The insert installs and removes easily. Nice product.

Want Marina 3-in-1 Guppy Trap Discount?

This floating "3 in 1" is supposed to make a breeding honeymoon suite, an isolation ward for timeouts for nippers, and a nursery for the new born fry of livebearers. I would give it a thumbs up on 2 of the uses, but baby guppy fry just swim right through the slits in the very bottom of the tank. I have used it for all three "traps" and found it to be excellent as a breeding tank to give your favorite couple their own private hideaway. And it seemed to have cured the swordtail that was going kind of crazy nipping at everybody. A week in solitary seemed to have cured him of that. At least for now. And as far as separating the momma from the babies, it does that well too. If that was a far as it went, I would love this Marina 3 in 1, however there are those wide slits at the bottom of the tank.

Those slits in the bottom of the tank though are large enough for blue delta guppy fry to swim right through and possibly get eaten by one of the adult fish in the tank. I don't know how many fry she had altogether, but there are at least six baby guppies hiding out in the plants, both living and fake.

I still like the product and would recommend it to friends. My favorite thing about it is that it floats and does not need to be fastened to an air line.

Elite Optima Pump w/Rheostat

Elite Optima Pump w/RheostatI bought this pump to replace my tetra whisper 40. The tank is in my bedroom so I'm trying to make it as quiet as possible. This pump, as it turns out, is much louder than the tetra. I like that you can control the output but I found out the more output the louder it gets. I was able to make a cover for the tetra to help buffer the sound. I don't think I could do the same for this it's pretty big. Also the power cord is really really short which is a big problem if you want to place this pump more then 2 feet from the power outlet.

PondCare Algaefix Algae Control

PondCare Algaefix Algae Control, 8-OunceI purchased this product for a small pond that was very algae-ridden. It cleared the algae to some extent, but it returned before the next dose was due. When researching pond care, one is advised to change up to 1/3 of the water on a regular basis, yet this product warns against letting any of the treated water out (contain all outflow). It also is identified as a cause of cancer and you must avoid contact with skin and eyes (yet it's safe for fish?)

As this wasn't solving my problem, and my fish all died, I purchased a UV lightmine is in a statueyou can also get them for placement in the water line or skimmer. Overnight my pond was crystal clear. I have to do nothing to control the algaeyou can see to the bottom 4 ft down. This is a much better treatment for algae.

I used Aquascape SAB Extreme String Algae Control for years, which worked, but after reading the reviews for Algaefix I decided to try it. I am so happy I did! It took two applications to get rid of it completely. It has been a month with out stringy stuff all over my pond. I noticed yesterday that it is starting to come back, so I will just use another application. It did not hurt my fish, or my water lilies either.

Aquatic Creations Ancient Pyramid Aquarium Ornament

Aquatic Creations Ancient Pyramid Aquarium OrnamentHaving recently gotten a fish I named Pyramid, this was an absolute essential! I'd been to many brick-and-morter pet stores in search of Egyptian decor for Pyramid's tank. I was starting to give up when I found this item!

This pyramid is a great addition to my Egypt-themed aquarium. It is really nice looking, exactly as pictured. Pay attention to the dimensions listed above because it is kind of large. It is hollow, so not heavy at all. Looks great in the aquarium. It seems to be durable and well-made. The style is more realistic as fish tank ornaments go not tacky at all!

I also got the Aquatic Creations "Four Sarcophagi" decoration, which looks great too.

(Note: I encourage you to disregard the unfairly low rating of the previous review. It seems the reviewer did not understand that this was an aquatic ornament, not a Christmas ornament.)

This is only an ornament if your tree is a sequoia! Not what it appears to be!
